And the new monster kid(which was meant in the best way possible) that he didn't know was a mind as well. That was good, the princess would have someone to talk to. Of course, it meant Paxton was one his own, but he'd manage. Paxton was fairly independant and if he had a problem he could always come to Keanu. Yep, the leopard would be there to do what he could to help. So he wasn't really alone. Not completely anyway.

With that thought out of the way the boy had a moment to look at the odd set of minds for a second. The princess and the monster. That was highly amusing. To no end really. Hopefully the gray skinned boy was a nice monster like the other two he'd met. If not... well then he'd have to save the princess.

Or maybe the other hero?

His attention switched to the blond boy who had just spoken to the delicate creature who had earned the title of princess. Obviously he must have thought the same thing, that's why he'd spoken to her once he had the chance. Yes, that had to be it. Sadly, Keanu would hev to interrupt. He had a lot he wanted to ask the other child about, a lot to confirm. Like his views on being a hero.

He'd have the chance, the teacher had said to split into groups. This new person would just have to end up stuck in his group.

Pushing himself up from his chair he quickly butted into the conversation without a second thought flashing Earako a grin of greeting before speaking. "Hello, Princess Earako. And you." He pointed a finger at Chath seeming just as pleased to see him as he did his friend. "You're gonna be a hero too right?" Just to clarify everything.

Ymir figured that if Keanu was up he was excused too, for the time. He knew just who to bother too. Shoving himself up from the floor the dragon trailed after Keanu before nudging the pale girls leg. He certainly wasn't above getting attention the moment he was freed from the rule of silence.

Chath looked to Earaoko and felt his face go a bit more red. "Oh...yah I suppose we should choose the same type.." he thought and desperately wished he had brought his peice of paper with him listing the different groups people were in.

He looked up when Keanu spoke and then gave a large smile. "Yah! I have always dreamed of being a hero." he stated and the continued a bit gushingly, "How about you?" he asked in a jumble of words.

Keir had fallowed relunctantly he didn't wish to stay hidden under the desk forever but that teacher was teh first thing he had ever been clsoe enough to frightened of. He watched Ymir closely though spoke not a word. His own presence seemed to contridict what Chath wanted to do. With such a dragon a villian may of been a better match.

Earako visibly relaxed at Keanu's approach, finding comfort in seeing a familiar face. Her wings relaxed, though her posture remained straight and proper, as she inclined her head with exaggerated politeness to the boy.

"Keanu. If I'm still princess, shouldn't I be calling you knight?" She had, since their last meeting, read up on the court that would supposedly surround her 'royal' self.

But enough of that, the boys were talking. And as much as she wanted to stay near the familiar, she had her own group that she was supposed to be in. Ymir's head got an affectionate pet, a gesture she cut off at a growl from her own dragon.

"Don't be silly Vimber. He's a nice dragon." Earako stroked her companions brilliant red scales affectionately before finally standing with practiced grace (though she felt the effect somewhat ruined without a dress).

"I'm sorry Keanu, Chath. I've gotta go, well, learn. I guess." The attempt at perfect manners was a bit marred by her own hesitation, but at least she was trying. She picked up her notes, walking over to where Laial sat.

"Children." Thomas glanced up from his desk, his eyes narrowing on the three that had decided to break into casual conversation. "Did I say it was free time? I don't believe I did. Get into your assigned element type groups and begin your report. There's plenty of time for playing after class..." He sighed dismissively, "I'd so hate to grade more papers than I need to tonight."

He then glanced over to Paxton, pointing sharply to him then to a spot next to his desk. "You... come... now."

What was all the fuss now? A read head poked itself up, from the bag it had been shoveling through. What a messy, messy child...well, if nothing else, he had gained his mothers disorganization. Exasperated Marigold tilted her head up, to throw the child a loathsome look. Fussy dragon, messy child...never a good combination.

Shuffling his paper across the hard wooden surface in front of him, Paxton’s elbows followed onto the desk, along with a horrid slouch. Having such heavy wings, naturally his posture was prone to be horrid. Eh, but now what to say? Mr. Barkhelm had made it clear enough why he received the type he did, but how did he go about explaining this to the rest of the class?

"Tish." The lovebird turned his head away from the blank sheets in disgust. Such a pointless task... Now wanting to find anything to distract him from the object currently at hand, brown eyes looked over to the trio babbling across the room. Why couldn't he have gotten--floof! Quicker than a wink the boy was sitting up right.

Ah--ah--crap! Teacher sounded angry, time to make busy! The pencil lifted from the desk and Paxton made to write...only to find that he was wanted for something else? What? A seat next to Mr. Barkhelm, now why was it he thought a polite, 'No thanks I'm fine right here.' just wouldn't cut it for the teacher. Guiltily, Paxton stood up, grabbed his paper and pencil and dragged his feet across the floor. "Yes-- sir?" He whispered, trying to be as quiet as possible. Oh god, had he just dared to ask what this man wanted.

When it was finally Laial's turn... he got scared. Very, very scared. Now the preteen knew why all the others got at least slightly unnerved. It was like being trapped, with nowhere to run or hide...

Stop that, Laial, and listen to him. Maybe you'll learn something useful.

He tried listening to the voice that said to analyze what the teacher was saying to him. He was odd...but did it ever really-

Yes, you dislike not fitting in. Inside, you'd do anything possible to fit in besides hurt yourself. You're too weak to take pain.

He blocked out the voice to hear and analyze the rest of what the teacher was saying. Physically he wasn't that great, but did a backbone really play a part in it? Perhaps he used backbone as an expression?

Underestimated? Yes, not many people he knew thought he was that strong...

Because you aren't.

...but he should focus on his strenghts, and not his weaknesses. And hide his strenghts until they were fully developed and ready to be put to use. That made sense. He ended his notes on the class with 'Laial - Mind'.

The not-so-nervous nautilus looked over at Earako and gave a small wave to his group. So, he had to figure out why she was in Mind? Interesting...would they have group tables to work at? He didn't see any, but this was magic class, so maybe they were invisible or something?

He watched as Earako excused herself and moved to be with Laial, the must be studying the same thing. Or maybe Earako was mad at him fromt he last encounter. He frowned a bit and then looking to Keanu.

Upon hearing the teachers scolding, Chath winced and gave a wry smile to Keanu, "Your of spirit as well?" he asked Keanu as he then moved over to his desk and pulled out some paper and pencils. "I guess we better start writing then." he Whispered the last part though he was sure that the teacher would be able to hear him anyway.

Assigned Elemental Groups, he turned his dark eyes over to look at the other two that were in his assigned group. Chath and Keanu, they were already sitting together now that Chath had moved his desk. He chewed on his lip a moment before pushing up to his feet. He had to go over and join them, not point in letting shyness get in the way or his grade would suffer for it right? He picked his notes and motioned to Vorel.

The frost dragon pushed up to his feet, stretched, and moved out from under the desk, he looked up at Ligeia then tilted his head as if waiting to see what they were going to do.

The owl walked over to where Keanu and Chath were, "Can I join you two?" He asked, hopeful that it would be alright by them. As he didn't want to drag his desk so far, because it would take to long and make to much noise in the for the most part quiet room. He instead waited for Vorel to lay back down then sat on the his back. His light weight meant nothing really to Vorel who didn't seem to notice it. He placed his notebook on his lap, page turned to a clean sheet of paper and took his pen from behind one fluffy ear.

Thomas ignored Paxton for a few moments longer, watching as the other students began to scuffle into the assigned groups. Wheather or not they shared a desk or pulled one over to the others hardly mattered, so long as they broke into the groups and began working. Once everyone seemed to have gotten the idea he slowly turned to Paxton and made a motion with his hand. One of the front desks hovered slightly above the ground and zoomed accross the floor, the chair catching Paxton by the rear, forcing him to sit as the desk came in front of him.

"Seeing as you're the only student of your type I shall be your partner." He said simply, turning in his chair to face the boy, "And I don't appreciate your thoughts of trying to seduce me. Amusing as it is, you'll not find anything I'd do to your body pleasureable if you were to even think that a second time." He smirked slightly but it faded as quickly as it had come. He had a mental signature on each of the students' minds, each of them linked to his by a small mental thread until they were released from class- what they did outside of the classroom was their own buisness but no class could run effeciantly with daydreamers.

"Now." He folded his hands in front of him and rested his chin on them, "Why do you think you were assigned this element?"

Earako was not exactly the sort to drag a desk over for herself, nor was she the type to sit on the floor (imagine the damage to her pants, no matter how she disliked them). After some hesitation, she finally settled on standing awkwardly beside Laial's desk, Vimber pressed protectively against her.

"Hello, I'm Earako. We're both mind, I think." And that got introductions out of the way, since the boy was only vaguely familiar to her, "I'm glad you got mind as well. I was beginning to worry I'd be the only one."

But this wasn't supposed to be about socialiazing, was it? Shooting a nervous and distrustful glance at the teacher, Earako quickly pushed her words in a more appropriate direction. "I guess I'm mind because I like sewing."

Chath looked up as the new boy approached. SO he was spirit as well?

"Sure, you can join." he said without even a thought of asking Keanu first if it was okay. Surely they couldn't let this guy work all by himself.

"We have to think of why we got assigned the elements we did. We are all spirit...so there must be something that we all have in common." he trailed off trying not to be bossy and looked to either kid.

"What do you guys think?"

It was with caution that Paxton regarded Thomas, as the teacher saw to it that each student was busily working away. The desk caught him by surprise, "Aug--" Fwump! A mess of feathers and rump hit the bottom of the chair. He was more surprised than hurt, but still didn't resist the urge to mumble a small "Owch," as he striated out several messy colorful tail feathers. One eye closed, the other open, the boy gave the white haired man before him a 'that was not cool', look. With a deep sigh and heave of his body, Paxton corrected his posture and now gave full attention to Mr. Barkhelm. Erm,--well he gave most of it, here and there hands figited with a strand of hair which had strayed from its proper position.

Yes, yes, he knew Mr. Barkhelm was going to be his partner already. The next line from the mans lips however sent the once composed lovebird into a twitching mess. "How did you--" Wait, s**t. No. Think happy thoughts, happy thought--not those, idiot, other happy thoughts!

Eventually the poor things mind became so muddled that with a shake of his head, the love bird told himself to 'shut up'. Except, he didn't speak it in his mind, he really shouted it out, "SHUT UP!" Smack! Over the mouth went his hands. Opsies...Tee-hee. Maybe a simple thought of stay out of head would have sufficed? Couldn't hurt now to add that for safe measure, Stay out of my mind.... Eh, probably wouldn't work, least he had tried though.

Sheepishly the feathered child looked around the room then back at the teacher who continued to wear that blank un-amused expression, he had kept up for much of the class. Time to distract. Bringing his voice down to a normal level, the lovebird crossed his legs as he began, "Well...I'm not exactly sure--is it that I'm a touchy feely person?" Instantly he regretted his response... What was a 'touchy feely person' anyway?

"Hmm, sure. If that's what you want to call me, Princess." Though he was forced to wave a farewell to her shortly after that as well as have Ymir flop at his feet to stare at the orange creatures legs and a black dragon. No attention meant he'd just lay low again, nothing else to do while they worked on the paper thing.

Although it had been amusing that the red dragon didn't like him. Well he wasn't fond of red dragons anyway.

As the other child spoke up Keanu nodded. "Yea, do you think it has something to do with wanting to be a hero?" He asked quickly, only briefly glancing at the teacher who had called Paxton over. Yes, definitely should get writing. He probably should have brought his paper and pencil with him when he came.

As Ligeia was walking up and asked th question, which Chat was kind enough to answer for both of them, he nodded to prove he agreed before moving over toward his desk and retrieving what he'd be needing for this assignment and heading back. Alright, one more problem done, now he was left with where the others were. Trying to figure out how to answer the question.

It didn't take long for the leopard to come with the most likely conclusion he would have found. "It must have to do with never wanting to lose. A strong will to win?" He'd never lose, and Chath wanted to be a hero... But then again... Did that apply to Ligeia too? Well, it would be good to get input from everyone, then maybe they could figure it out.

Thomas watched the boy's little cherade with that same dark glare. No change in emotion from the time he had started the class to present. He wasn't impressed with the boy's lack of control. "You are in control of nothing else -but- your body boy." He said sharply, "Your mind is a scramble of perversion, even to the point that you would harbor thoughts of performing something as childish as an act of seduction in order to obtain decent marks in this class." He cleared his throat, "And if such thoughts drive you your spirit is obviously not a strong one. One thing leads to another. Your lack of mental control weakens your spirit and your body seeks to compensate. It takes a very old or very focused person to master all three elements perfectally and balance themselves."

He tapped the paper in front of the boy, "You might want to write this down. The mind influences the soul, the soul the body, the body the mind in your case. Mind is your weakest point. You cannot see logic boy. What good would your actions do? You think in the here and now- you cannot see beyond your own body's desires. It weakens your strength of character and hence your spirit. Focus on what makes you strong."

He folded his hands as his elbows came to a rest on the desk, his chin resting on his hands, "What do you pride yourself on?"

Ligeia looked unsure, he didn't really have a strong will to win did he? Maybe he would like the idea of winning but never wanting to lose he wasn't quite sure. Thomas had told him that his strength was in his heart, in his desire to find light in the darkness and his anger being slow to mount. Maybe they other two had something like that? He lifted his pen up to tap it against his lips a moment in thought, "Well... from what I gather its an internal sort of strength that Spirit applies too." He mused, looking to Keanu and Chath.

He chewed on the end of the pencil as he thought on it, "He mentioned the power of light and the heart." He said, when thinking back about what Thomas had said to him and what he'd said to the class about the other two.
