I'm the only Cello in my band group. My stinking school doesn't have orchestra. stressed Oh well. At least I don't have to play when we have to perform outside.

I am THE lone clarinet/oboe. I play 2 instruments and am alone in both how bad is that. The clarinet parts I am playing are like what happened to the flutes I like switched with them!!! Oboe isn't so bad but I screw up alot and when I do I have heck to pay. All the bandies wanna kill me. crying

not alone ( sadly- cuz I kinda want to be) but my sis is. SHe's the only female percussionist ( they had some more but they played other instruments first). whats especially sad is that the next year 9th graders have no female percussionists either. Personally, my schools filled with a bunch of stereotypes. I dislike that. BUt wer have a girl tuba player which is awesome. She's very good.

I'm the only marching piccolo player...Also, I'm the only one in the flute section that actually PLAYS OUT my part. I swear that they only pretend to play notes at competitions...This makes me sound like a narcissist...Just so everyone knows, I'm no narcissist. I'm just the only one who practices my part. sweatdrop

There were many times in band where I was the only flute who actually knew what we were playing. It wasn't as bad though because the band woudl've been better without those other three (no offense).
I do become the only cellist at orchestra sometimes, especially when were doing St. Paul's Suite, I was so freaked because I've only been playing for almost 2 years. It isn't that bad at least if you practice enough so you get to know your music.

I started off on my own then person who was in my orchestra came back from top orchestra, he came on tour but abandoned me at the last concert on tour and i couldn't play the music after a year of practise cause i was only grade 3! 2nd year another girl joined me but then left , then another guy joined and came on tour and is still with me this year! he will hopefully come on tour. although this year and last year i've been on my own at the christmas course and will most likely be on my own next year if i go up to the top orchestra. i play double bass by the way.

I've been the only F Horn since fourth grade. I kinda like it because I'm automatically first chair.

crying You must be so lonely.
Pros of being the only one in the section: if you're good, you're going to get praised. they will notice.....
Cons: Yes, tuning, and also, if you don't play loud enough, you might not be heard.
I wouldn't want to be the only one in my section, but I am. I play the Bb clarinet with bass part, so I'm alone a lot. But we do have a Bassist.

I was once the only Flute in Jazz band. gonk I was so nervous.
I hate tuning. I hate tuning on Flute and especially trombone! D8 once me, Andy[Trombone] and Everett[Clarinet] had to tune. And since Flute is higher than of a trombone or clarinet... Everyone was looking at me. ;_;
I can't get my Piccolo in tune. But it depends on what the temperature is. If it's warm, it'll go sharp. And if cold, it will go flat..
Last year[6th grade], we had one Baritone. Then she quit. -___-
And in Summer band, we had one Oboe.
*Also. If I do 8th grade band with my Piccolo, I'll stick out SO badly. My Piccolo is a composite[Silver head joint and keys with a plastic body]... And there's no Piccolo players.. D8 *
