Rune tilted his head to the side in thought, his eyes moving slowly to where the humans stood. "Perhaps then, we should let the humans decide where it is we'll be staying. Afterall, they don't appear to be nearly as adaptable as we are... what with their little patches of fur, fangless mouthes-if those are mouthes-and clawless paws. Quite silly looking things if you ask me, but they don't seem dangerous." He got himself to a stand, shifting on his paws a bit to get the blood going again, a habbit that he had picked up from his mother.
An ear rotated towards Gaara at his suggestion. The pup cracked a bit of a smile and began walking towards the male, "I would think not. So long as I walk that's what I should do. I've grown old enough, but thank you. I may take you up on your offer if we travel too much past sun down if you're still willing."
Hinto laughed, still very much enjoying the attention that the little quiet wolf was giving to him. He was nearly knocked over a few times but thankfully his seeing stick was just strong enough to keep him up, "She's a friendly wolf, she almost gets more fussy if we don't touch her." He laughed again as she wriggled inbetween him and Bran, setting a hand on her back, "You can walk with us, Bran doesn't mind. He likes wolves."

"From what Gaara tells me, and from what I've seen, they make up for those pathetic bodies with their heads. The big one kills things with the little sticks..." She notes the arrows in Bran's quiver with a subtle gesture. Rune is right though, she can't picture either of the two leggers taking on a wolf in a fight, well maybe one wolf, but not a pack. "I don't much understand them myself...or Nile's attatchment to them." She looks back over her shoulder at Nile, blinking in curiosity. she doesn't find the comfort in human touch that Nile does, and wonders if Gaara ever tolerated that sort of fur ruffling and touching. Touch is all very fine and good, it's part of how a pack bonds, but the two humans smell so strange, especially with those things around them that smell like them but also not them.
"I like wolves that aren't trying to eat me..." Bran corrects slightly, but not much. Hinto is too attatched to the wolves, possibly for his own saftey. For him, there's little difference between the dogs that follow some tribes and encampments and these wild, powerful predators. He sees them as freinds and aquaintances, much in the bizzare way that the wolves seem to have semi adopted them as Pack. Is that really whats going on? On one side of the equasion, the side of him that went to polite, refined schools and stared at crisp white pages, he can't see this as even remotely possible Wolves are mere animals, not capable of in depth thought, rationale, or even the kinship of dogs. On the other side of the equasion, a small, stunted part of him that he's been struggling with more and more lately, something else insists that there's a kinship here, at least between the wolves and Hinto, though he remembers he himself once beleived that he had an kinship with Hakan, and how badly that had ended. He swallows the memory tensely, remembering flashing white fangs tearing at his face, arms, and sides, trying for his belly and throat... Had he done something wrong? Were they really just animals? Or had something small and important been lost, and sensed by the ferocious Hakan? What quality did Hinto posesses that made the wolves seem so comparatively comfortable around him? And what after all these years had made Hakan come back, and seemingly accept him? Rational mind insisnts mere animal memory, like a dog that remembers an former master. "Child" mind, as it were, isn't as sure. A test perhaps? In this only he wishes that he could speak to the other wolves the way he did the Witch Wolf.

He'd look towards Rune quietly, not saying another word while the pup and his mate decided how to figure out where to stop. Though, when Rune brought up that they should allow the humans decide, he shook his head. "We'll find our own place," he mumbled just loud enough for the two to hear. "The two leggers will want a bigger space than we will. And I doubt Meal Ticket will like having so many of us close by him...especially if Lera comes back. We should find a place that's closer to the forest and make our dens there...but still keep close to Meal Ticket and the Child."
He accepted them as his pack, yes, and from so long ago...he hadn't been able to contain himself as a pup. His anger and furiosity raged on stronger than it does now...after Loki and Hige...His chest burned a bit, and he gave a furious growl. "Let's move, now." Bad memories didn't do much for his mood, obviously. He would move away from the two, and past Nile, Bran and Hinto...in the direction that they had been heading towards before Lera came. Scenting how tense Bran was, though, he hesitated right in front of him, looked up at him, and met his own eyes with Bran dual colored ones. Ears laid back against his skull, hackles bristling from his own growing anger and tenseness of the encounter that had just ended with his old 'friend'.
He moved away from them once more, and headed off in a trot...he'd be in front, whether they decided to walk or run behind him. His pace wasn't fast enough to lose them, but quick enough to enthuse that they needed to get moving.
She couldn't explain her bond with the humans, either. She was influenced by Bran when she was but a pup...and he was the only one, besides her mother of course, that paid her little if any mind at all. This must have sparked the thought to protect the two leggers than their 'kin'..Hinto, obviously. She had never been taught the evil of some two leggers.
She looked towards Gaara when he met Bran's eyes...Then moved on. She sniffed a bit, and would lower her head and tuck her tail between her legs quickly to show how submissive she was...not sure if Gaara would get angry for nuzzling at Bran and Hinto or not.
Looking to Lexi for some comfort, she gave a breathy, silent whimper...maybe no one else could hear it, but it sure as hell made her feel a bit better about the situation. She could sense the tension radiating off of Gaara.

Bran glances away as Hakan looks up to meet his eyes, meeting the eyes of a dominant wolf or dog isn't nessisarily a good idea to begin with, unless you're sure you can prove you're more dominant...but there's something in Hakan's eyes that looks far too close to the look that preceded the attack that left him half blind. If Hakan costs him the other eye, both he and Hinto could easily starve to death out here, if the bites didn't kill him first. When Hakan starts forward in a trot, he reaches over to take Hinto's shoulder. "They're picking up the pace, I'll carry you."
Lexi leaps forward silently, like Gaara's small grey shadow, though her blue eyes have a cunning light that says she's more than just a shadow by any stretch of the imagination. "What are you thinking, love?" She growls softly, a strange mix of savagery and affection, into her mates ear as they break into a faster pase. "Is it the two legs? Or is it HER?" She means Lera of course, who should not, by any sence, have followed them. She feels it somehow compromizes the saftey of their den, as though Lera might have cast some sort of dark spell on them. "We're a pack. We dont have to do anything alone, even fight your enemys. Let them make that mistake. They are deer, we are wolves, if they want to act like prey, we will take them down like prey, I promise."

He shrugged again, "Quite right I suppose. I'd not be too comfortable with a large amount of two-leggids around nor would I expect them to feel the same way about us...", he couldn't help but eye the muted one and her behavior around them. Perhaps they were worth looking into though. Nothing was wrong with learning, in fact the most powerful wolves in the world weren't the largest or the most frightening but the most wise. "Curious creatures indeed..." he said it more to himself than anyone, at that time Lexi and Gaara had continued on their way. At a rather quick pace too! He'd not keep up with them but he'd manage to keep them in sight at least. It left him toddling behind with the two-leggids but he was far too tired and thoughtful over the last few days to really mind too much.
He trotted beside the larger one, looking up to him curiously. He didn't have the usial somewhat vacent look of a pup. He still had a bit of inquiry and playfulness to his gaze but he seemed more aware of everything than other pups might have. He wasn't quick to jump on Bran and lick his hand but he wasn't going to skitter off with his tail beween his legs. For the moment, he was interested in learning how these critters worked. "I suppose we're traveling companions. Your two silly legs and my four short ones- seems we're at the proper pace for eachother." He knew they probibly wouldn't understand him, but it was a shot.
Hinto returned his hand to Bran's sleeve as the silent wolf left their sides, his stick slowly feeling around them. No dips thankfully, a small rock but not really enough to concern himself with. "Wolves won't eat you unless you anger them." He turned his head up towards Bran, "In my tribe, we believe the wolf is our brother. If you respect him, he will respect you. If you kill him and wear his fur he will kill your horse or bite your arm. Don't fear them but respect them. That's what mother told me." He smiled again, leaning his head into Bran's side, "I'll keep you safe from the mean wolves though. My stick's harder than it looks."
He could hear the wolves speaking to eachother, though he'd no idea of what was in Bran's mind, he shared the longing to know what they were saying but perhaps for different reasons. He wanted to talk to them, figure out a few things about them and most of all, ask if they saw them like brothers too. They were moving out now, and quickly. Hinto shook his head at Bran's offer, "I want to walk. A brave has to learn to keep up with the others." He didn't seem defensive in how he said it, more excited than anything, "Just let me hold your sleeve so I know how fast I have to walk, okay?"

"I...don't remember what they beleived in my fathers tribe." His fathers tribe. The phrase has a slightly distancing effect, and almost allows him to look at Rune, who trots along beside them with an cheerful, eerily intelegent sounding set of wolfish mutterings. "But that "brother" of mine tore my face open when I was five..." he nods ahead toward Hakan, though Hinto can't see him. "And I've still never figured out why, no mater how much I learn about wolves." He says nothing about Hinto's desire to keep up by himself, crossing his fingers that the boy doesn't trip and fall on the uneven ground. Well...if they loose them, they loose them, it's not like he can't follow the wolf tracks, if they're really invited to do so...especially after that look from Hakan. "He's upset about somthing, Hakan is...I don't know if it's us, or that Witch Wolf."

Glancing back to his mate when she got up at his side, he frowned a bit. "Bad memories," he growled, but not towards her. Looking forward again, he'd nudge her lightly with his body. His tone lightened a bit, not wanting her to think he was mad at her, or the pack, for that matter. "Dont worry about it." He knew quite well that the pack was there to defend eachother...but he was at the head of it. He was meant to protect all of them--beside his mate, but even her he'd protect till death.
Glancing back to see Rune toddling at a slower pace, he'd lower his eyes to the ground, then forward again. Maybe Nile's instincts would kick in to protect the pup and pick him up.
She would eye the two alphas, maw parting...then closing...catching herself that she couldn't speak to try and comfort, as well. Looking over to Rune, though, seeing that she was in the middle of the two 'groups'...she'd slow a bit to walk at the pup's side.
Lowering her head a bit, she'd sniff the pup curiously..touching her ebone tinted nose to the back of the pup's neck fur...then lifting a bit. Canting her head a bit at the pup, to see if he'd understand the question, she felt helpless to even try and play a part in this pack...but she'd try, at least.

Rune chuckled, noting the human's glance over to him. Well at least he got a bit of attention out of it. Not exactally ones for attempts at conversatoin, at least not now, but it was something. "Just watch where you put those hooves of yours." Hooves was the best way to describe what the humans walked on. Large, thick, rounded things that were about as far from paws as the wolves were from cats. Silly looking things they were, perhaps humans were a sub-species of deer or elk? But without any antlers or even any fur that was hard to say... of course deer did loose their antlers from time to time, the season was just wrong for it.
He slowed a bit as the silent female began sniffing at him. For a moment he found this to be a bit invasive, pausing where he stood and lifting his head and a paw to eye her, but then again, she wasn't able to speak. Following her movments carefully, and relaxing himself a bit, he slowly pieced together her question, "Oh no no, it's quite alright. I've four paws and a heartbeat, so long as both are in proper order I can manage myself just fine. Thank you for the offer though. I might just take you up on it if we travel past high-moon though." He smiled and continued walking on his way, "You're free to walk with me if I'm not too slow, m'lady."
Hinto made his way along well enough, now and then he'd jump over something or walk his way around another. His stick moved along the ground in front of him but not at all in Bran's way, he could hear his footsteps and mind where he moved his stick well enough. It wans't easy but he felt special for keeping up, "Well maybe he was in a bad mood? Like when the older children in my tribe were in a bad mood they'd take my stick and have me look for it. They were mean but they didn't want to kill me. Though... if they bit me I think I might be a bit more angry." He shrugged, "What tribe are you from, Bran? You never talk about them."

"I...."he hesitates...blinking, which makes his stride falter slightly. He doesn't remember what the tribe called themselves...it's completely written it's self out of his memory. "I don't remember much about it..." He admits, with a stirring of guilt. "I don't even remember what they called themselves..."

The murder could be heard miles before they were in sight, Suuru trailed by brothers of the same kind were all making loud cries from the woods in the distance, rising like a cloud of smoke up from the trees. Their wings nearly bounced off one another, only more crows seemed to join them up from the trees. With the potential for a fight between wolves there was potential for their food and all the more reason for them to gather. To help lead this fight along, even the most neutral crows, if hungry, were willing to take wing. The others remained circling by the woods, Suuru and perhaps a few here and there joined him towards the lake, still cawing like mad.
The crow knew Lexi was dangerous, but he had been in the area where her mate's blood was spilt, the scent of blood was a strong one, emotional smells, smells of others- it was all carried on his down, he didn't have to be close if the nose smelling him was strong. The crow looked below him, spotting the small group and began a nose- dive downwards for them, still cawing like mad. His feet swept under him and took the ground in his talons, his wings beating around frantically as he came before Lexi. He hoped by fanning his feathers she'd smell the blood instead of attacking him right off. It wasn't strong enough for him to have caused the blood nor had he picked off any meat bearing it might just be enough to prove himself as just a messanger.
Once he felt he'd fanned the scent enough he pressed his wings into folding along his back and looked up at her.

He hadn't stopped his running. Nile had caught up to him after a while and ran beside him, retreating at his pace to make sure he didn't fall over and hurt himself. His face was slashed, and his flank was ripped open from Mononoke...Lera had left the mark on his face. But he had gotten enough sweet revenge for these scars-to come. Having slashed Lera a good one over the muzzle and clipping Kamali, Mononoke's make, in the face with his hind legs...he'd be back. But for some reason he had a bad urge to meet with his mate right now.
He slowed on the outskirts of their territory, panting heavily and glancing to Nile to see if she was all right as well. She had her head down, tail tucked between her legs, quietly, as usual, but she gave him a concerned look never the less. He would lift his front paw to rub at the marks on the side of his face--blood was running over his eye and it annoyed the hell out of him.
The crows were also beginning to get to him--and that wasn't a good thing for Suuru's murder at all. He approached the others slowly, since they were still on the move..waiting for the humans to find a spot to make their own home, then to find their own not too far off.
Not even a pained whimper left him...Though rage still flashed in his eyes, despite the lack of blood lust now. His tongue slipped over his lips to gather up his blood, as well as Lera's, which had splattered onto him at some point. Now getting closer to the group, Nile took off in search of Bran and Hinto for her own comfort...he on the other hand seeked out his mate.

Rune had grown quite a bit in the past weeks, from the quiet and reserved pup into a slender and rather handsome adolecent. He was quite fond of his size- not being so large as to stand out but not nearly small enough to be mistaken for something helpless. His legs were much longer which made walking about on patrol less of a bother. Now able to see well over the long grass he took it upon himself to keep an eye out on the pack' rear and flanks. With their alpha having been attacked they surely couldn't be too careful.
He had always seemed to enjoy keeping to himself, speaking only when spoken to -unless the situation called for him to do otherwise- and speaking as little as he could but not without curtosy and pride. In recent days, however, it seemed like he desired his solitude a bit more, looking distant whenever he was alone and sometimes seeming a bit more on-edge than was normal...even considering the recent events.
He couldn't quite explain it... but he could hear voices. Not clear voices and very far from something he could understand. It was very much like hissing echos from a very great distance, almost quiet enough to hardly be of notice save for hours when he longed for rest. During the night he'd stirr with a loud huff, looking about sharply. From then he'd take his leave from where the pack slept and sit out and stare for hours- expecting to somehow find the source. It was apparent that it was just him. No one else seemed hardly phased by it.
It happened mainly when something else was out there- owls, crows, even their human pets. Those strange sounds as if from a distance, whispering, hissing, and taunting at the runed wolf.
Presently he stood by the lake, stiffly and quietly looking out as the sun slowly began to sink from her throne in the sky. Taking a deep breath he lowered his eyes to his rippling reflection.

He was proud of the growing pack. Despite the lack of wolf power, they made up for it with strength and intelligence...as well as human power, which was quite useful. He sat himself up, and would glance around the darkness--it was nearly morning, but...why was Rune up? He glanced in the direction of the adolescent, and canted his head slightly..narrowing his eyes.
Shifting gingerly away from his mate, and stepping over Nile...he glanced in the direction the humans were, then continued. They still had yet to find a good denning site--but the humans seemed to have found a good area to build their large tree-built buildings.
Approaching Rune, he would move to sit himself easily onto his haunches beside the pup. "Why aren't you sleeping?"

(( lol Dun worry XD ))
Rune's ear turned towards the sound of the stirring wolf, his head turning just enough for him to watch the massive wolf approach from the corner of his eye. Giving a respectful nod he sat himself down as Gaara did- it was only appropreate to do so. Gaara was alpha afterall, in his pack it had been rude to stand if the alpha did otherwise.
"I could not sleep." He said quitely, turning his eyes back to the lake. "I am sorry if I woke you, I'll have to remember to step lightly next time."
