Christopher extended his hand as well and shook Erik's hand. "You can count on me, pardner, to keep a deal."

'Serum 100...' Christopher thought. 'That, for some reason, doesn't sound good for Erik. If it's non-morphic, as it sounds like, then I can only imagine how he'll take it. I'll have to stick closely by these two I think. Take them under my wing.'

Before he got lost in his thoughts as he had a tendency to do, particularly today, he decided to exchange info with them on who he got as his lab tech.

"I got so 'lucky'," Christopher had a hint of sarcasm in his voice as he spoke, "To get Dr. Moreau myself. I can only imagine that getting anything out him will be like getting a raccoon to let go of something shiny."

"Never of the Goddess Branwan, but then again, I'm not really an expert on mythology, just mythological creatures."

"I'm going to have to call the labs again later and ask what Serum 100 is."

"Oh, you got that nutjob too?", he asked, tail flicking.

"Well, from what I gather, he does own and run the island," said Christopher. "And yeah, I got him. I know I didn't believe one word coming from his mouth at all. I did try to get him to admit to me he wasn't being honest but he kept playing stupid games. I don't know why people like that even exist in the first place."

Christopher took notice to Erik's tail flicking back and forth. Another bout of curiosity hit him which made him open his mouth, "Erik, I'm rather curious. What's having a tail like?"

Branwan snorted and answered for him, “painful, especially when it has just grown in.” she felt a tingle of pain at just the thought.

She was feeling angry at Sabin and every other lab tech on the island. Sadly this feeling was worming its way into everything.

"Oh, a wiseguy eh?" Christopher did his best Three Stooges impression he could. "Well, we'll just have to fix that with a..."

Christopher then wrapped his arm wround Brawnwan's neck and proceeding to give her a playful noogie.

Just as Erik was about to answer Chris' question, he started chuckling at Branwan's answer, all he could say was "Yes, yes it did."

When Chris started giving Branwan a noogie, Erik joined in, sneaking up on Chris from behind. "Wet willie!", he shouted, driving his spit-covered finger into Chris' ear.

Christopher yelped and released his grip on Branwan as Erik plunged his slightly clawed finger into his ear. He jumped up and clasped his hand over his ear. He went to reach for his knife tucked into his shorts but fought off the instinct and urge. He instead acted as if he was gripping on to his shorts due to the pain.

'Calm down Chris!' his mind screamed at him. 'He was trying to play, not hurt you. Besides, he's just a kid! Relax, will you?'

Christopher let out a sigh and took his hand away from his ear and saw blood. He went over to the river area to wash off his hand. He then took his knife, cut part of his shirt off, and used it to apply pressure to his ear to slow and hopefully stop the bleeding.

"You got me good..." Christopher trailed off, his statement rather hollow. "Please, be careful next time."

The second Chris yelped, Erik realized that he had f***ed up, big time. Quickly pulling out his finger and seeing the blood, Erik's tail tucked tightly between his legs and he started to make a distinctly canine whimpering sound.

"Oh my God, I'm sorry!" he shouted. Too afraid to say anything else, he backed up against a tree, covering his head with his hands.

Christopher looked at Erik and saw the boy was cowering and whimpering. He approached with caution and slowly wrapped his arms around Erik to show there were no hard feelings between the two of them.

"It's ok," Christopher tried to comfort him. "I'm alright. Don't worry about, it was an accident. Just next time, don't dig in so hard, ok?"

He added in a chuckle for good measure.

Staring facedown at the ground, when Erik first saw Chris make his way towards him, the fox in him was urging him to run, but he stood where he was, almost motionless, but once things seemed alright, he started to calm down, but he still had nervous shiver in his voice. "S-sorry about that, I just lost control there."

Scanning his surroundings, Erik saw Branwan staring at him. "Great," he thought in his mind, "Now she probably thinks you're a total weirdo, and she'll never want to be around you again."

"No harm was do... Erm," Christopher rethought that last part. "Ok, well some physical harm was done but no true harm. I'm sorry too, alright?"

Christopher tried to think of something that might calm Erik down. What could he do though? What would lighten the mood some? He reached desperately for just a possible idea. Then it hit him, two ideas that is.

Christopher spoke up, "You know... I got something that might cheer you up. You have a choice too so which ever idea you like best you pick it and I'll do it. Now, I can either do a lipsynch to a song and act out actions to it too or... I can go back to my duplex and grab something that's very special to me and share it with you. It's a music box with something very precious to me inside of it. And with it comes with some really cool stories for me to tell."

Erik had never been one who liked being treated like a kid, but he couldn't blame Chris, because was acting like a kid. Something inside told him to grow up, to be a man and suck it up. Taking a deep breath, he looked up at Chris. Speaking in a calmed voice, he said, "I'd like to see the music box if that's alright."

"I'll be right back then," Christopher told Erik before he darted off in the direction of his duplex to retrieve his treasure. It took him about 10 minutes to run there and back. Once he returned, he held the music box proudly in his arms. Without saying a word, Christopher opened the lid and the music began:

Inside the box was the tail of a wolf. It was obviously well kept after and very much cherised.

"Beautiful isn't?" Christopher spoke fondly, memories flooding back like a tidal wave. "It belonged to a friend of mine... Lyall. God, it seems so long ago."

Christopher waited for Erik to take in the sight before he began to tell the story behind it.

((Doh, sorry for the delay, School jumped out and attacked me. let’s place this just after Chris let Branwan go))

Branwan leapt back as she saw the clawed finger go into Chris’ ear. She leaned back against her tree, resting her head in one malformed hand. All this shouting was giving her a head ach and making her feel antisocial. She withdrew into the shadows of the tree trying to disappear.

She winced at the sight of blood on Erik’s nail and, because the boys no longer seemed to need her, quietly walked away. Perhaps, she thought, perhaps I can find a nice tree with sturdy branches and hide there until I’m feeling social again…
