-A pained sigh rattled through the king, falling into the same silence and discomfort that the copper male had from his daughter's words. Foolish girl.. certainly she knew when it was your time it was your time. But then.. she'd never seen it had she? Not even the kill of a hunt to his knowledge.

Groaning once more, trying to push aside the pain that came with each abrasive lick he curled, letting his own tongue fall upon the wound that rested just below his mane.-

-She continued on at the shoulder, tongue growing more and more forceful as fear started to take her over. This wasn't really helping was it? It'd cleaned the area initally.. but everytime it seemed she'd gotten all the blood more would seep from the wound. Frustration taking it's toll she paused calling out in a chocked sob.- "It won't stop bleeding Ta."

The copper lion didn't know what to say at that, and slowly moved to her side to look closer. His gaze resting on the kings face, he pulled away after a few seconds and watched Kami. The words failed him, he knew there were way too many wounds at this point, and with the King's age it would be even harder to jump back up. Swallowing, he lowly spoke up, knowing that cleaning would be futile at this point in time.

"...The journy is not far, and that female said others would be waiting...they...they might know what to do..." After his words trailed off, he nuzzled her softly and whispered for her ears only, "Everything will be alright Kami, we will make it through this, I promise...everything will turn out for the better..."

He had no idea if his words would sooth or send her in a fit of dispair, but as he pulled back he looked back to the king and strengthened his voice, for both him and Kami.

"Your highness, we need to get you back to the dens...should I...carry you?"

-He didn't answer the question at first, more out of pride and worry then anything else. He could walk himself couldn't he? Well.. with a little bracing maybe.. for that leg that refused to move.

Shifting gently he tried once more to try and lift himself, pushing himself far enough that his chest actually hung a few inches above the ground, before he fell back once again. He was tired.. so so tired.

Eyes searching to find the copper male, he nodded in soft understanding and agreement, asking simply.- "Do you think you can?"

-Her ears twitched gently at the soft words of comfort. She didn't know if she believed him... Worry and dispair had been gnawing at her very heart ever since they'd met with that mother and cub. But how she wanted to believe it..

Momentarily letting herself shift, so that her shoulder and weight pressed tiredly against him, she nodded softly to the sentiment. There were an awful lot of lions back at the dens.. surely some of them had dealt with injuries in the past.. knew more then she did.-

Ta'Ziyan smiled warmly to Kami, a small ghost of one but a smile none the less, and leaned slightly back to show he was there, always to support. However, as the king tried to stand, his eyes lidded with sorrow, seeing that it was indeed just as bad as he thought it would be.

"I can do it, for you, for Kami, and for the queen. The pride is waiting, and I can make it to the dens..." He said it moreso for himself, unsure if he could carry the full grown male. Shifting lightly, he decided that something must be done so he could keep the king alive. Pondering what was a sign of life, he suddenly brightened and turned to Kami.

"You should talk to him on the way back...It would help distract me from any sort of difficulties that might occur..." Of course, it would help keep the king awake, and help Kami get her last moments with her father. Waiting for her reply, he glanced between her and the king, wondering just how to get him on his back and get the journey on its way.

"I'll help lift him to your back." -The words sounded almost joyful.. perhaps just a glimmer of hope in the darkness of this night. Leaving Ta's side gently after a long moment, she slipped to the other side of her father, pressing a nuzzle against his cheek.- "If Ta lowers himself beside you, and you can push yourself up a little again, maybe I can help lift you up the rest of the way to his back."

-She glanced from her father to Ta for affirmation, mind screaming to her that the sooner they went the better. She might not be the strongest.. but it wouldn't be that far she was lifting.-

Sending her a bright, warm smile, Ta nodded and added softly, "That is a great idea Kami," before moving to the side of the king and nervously sending him the same smile as well.

"If anything at all hurts, please tell me, I don't want to put you through any more pain your Highness..." With those words said, he settled his body in a bracing position, so it would be easy to get the weight on his back as well as stand up after.

"Alright, I am ready..."

-Mufasa shifted his body again, pressing againt his three good legs as best he could, trying hard to hold the position of his half lifted body longer even as his legs began to wobble and scream from the energy assertion.

However soon he felt the pressure at his side and stomach as his daughter slipped his shoulder and back beneath him, pushing him up and over. Finding it easier to roll onto the back of the cooper one, his legs no long having to work. Once he was settled however his eyes drifted to the mane that his head now rested by. He hoped the boy would be able to lift him.. to carry him.

Deep down he didn't want any harm coming to the copper male.. no matter their abrasive past. But at the same time.. he could truthfully say it was more important to him that he got to his mate. As selfish as that was.-

-Kami had gritted her teeth as she pressed against the weight of the large golden male. But as soon as his weight was off of her, her attention turned to the two, quickly making her way over to Ta. Making sure first that her father was settled on in a way that he wouldn't shift or sway. And then to Ta, eyes glimmering with soft thanks and admiration. Drawing herself near she waited for Ta to try and lift, hoping her father would slip.. but there to break the fall if he did.- "We're ready whenever you are Ta.."

Gritting his teeth as the first part of the weight fell onto his back, he worked to not fall onto his belly. As long as his paws were settled, he would be able to stand, but he if was on his belly, he would have to ask to try again. So, as he shook as well, he waited until he felt the air on his mane, and realized that all of the weight was now on his back.

Eyes closed, he could almost feel Kami walking around the two, making sure Mufasa was in a good position to be at as well as fixing anything that might slip. The blood soaked into his pelt, the warm liquid suddenly another issue that could arise. Hopefully it wouldn't bleed too much, or else that might make the king slip too, dispite how the red liquid grew sticky between the two furrs.

"A-alright.." He gritted out, pushing up slowly as his muscles screamed under the sudden weight for the first time. Though it seemed easy in his mind, the weight did add a lot more pressure he had never felt before, and already he knew that after this was all over, he would need to rest for a few days to get his strength back and the pain away.

At last, he was standing as much as he could, back tight and legs working hard to hold the weight and not move at all. Looking to Kami, he nodded ever so slightly, not able to speak, and hoped that the king was alright. At least they were close, and as that thought drifted through his mind, he made way for the first steps.

-Mufasa let his eyes slip shut gently, as he himself could feel the way in which the boy moved beneath him. And it wasn't such a surprise. He'd always been a massive beast.. something that now for the first time in his long life he regreted. But then again.. if he hadn't been so big.. he probably wouldn't have been breathing by the time the children had arrived.

Settling with a soft sigh, he held his eyes shut, letting thoughts of Priderock and the past slip through his mind.-

-She wanted to brush against Ta, as she watched him struggle upwards, before finally setting out forward. Some sort of motion to comfort and thank him.. and yet she knew all it would do was make the task harder if she did.

So a soft smile was all she could offer him, before she let herself fall back a few steps, until she was in pace with Mufasa, words shifting out lamely.- "How are you feeling dad?"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 28, 2006 11:46 am

-Eyes openning he shifted his view to his daughter, a soft weariness taking over him. The pain tried to echo over her words, strewn on in an unpleasant but unchangeable pattern with each step of the lion beneath him. But finally he focused on her, dragging up a soft smile to try and comfort the deceptive one she held. Clearing his throat a little, he spoke softly, lowly intent on comforting the pain he could so easily see in her eyes.- "I'm feeling alright. Far better then just awhile ago."

-He paused momentarily, debating whether to go on, before finally he did, touching the words tenderly so she wouldn't get the 'right' idea.- "Luckily.. when a body gets badly hurt the soul makes up for it. Making you feel numb so you can't feel the hurts that remain. Truely a blessing of nature."

-Well that was a comforting thought.. And something she'd have to take his word for.. having never really injured herself beyond the regular cub-like scrape and scuff. But still she couldn't manage to pull the smile, worry nagging at her belly. Her tail beginning to sway with nervous uneasiness.- "W..when we get back to Priderock.. They'll make you better? The lioness'. Right?"

-They'll try perhaps... But they won't Somber silent thoughts that rattled in his old brain, keeping them far from his daughter's ears. One knew when their time was coming.. and already he could feel it. Since even before the children had appeared to rescue him. His head was throbbing.. and as Sarabi so eloquantly put it on occassion.. the stars were calling for him. Seeming to glow brighter then bright even as the moon sank and the earliest lights of morning touched the horizon.

He'd always thought his love would go first... That he himself would suffer the heartbreak and pain of her loss. But it seemed now that that wasn't to be the case.. and he wished with every ounce of his body and soul that he could take that pain from her and with him when finally his breaths ceased to come. But it was a foolhearty wish. For even if she only loved him half as much as he loved her then he knew quite well the torment and pain that lie ahead for her.. To assualt her sense as they did in his nightmares, where she was snatched from his paws.

If only they hadn't had the children... and yet.. How would they have lived without the children? That beautiful motherly glow on Sarabi.. the smiles that touched her when one was near. The beautiful and unique little creatures that they'd all become. No... it wasn't possible. If there was fate it was fate. And perhaps this was too.

Mind finally drawing back to the golden lioness after the long pause he finally answered.- "Of course. They're very skilled and intellegent lioness'. We have so many strong and wonderful members within our pride. I'm sure whenever the time comes... for you to rule the pride.. that they will be a strong backbone for you to lean against and pull from."

"A pride is only a pride because of those in it. No one person can know everything... but everyone one knows something."

-Another look of worry touched her as her words seemed avoided, her father falling silent and distance for a long long moment, before finally his attention returned once again.. the cryptic answer ringing through her ears. But she disgested them just as she always did, nodding softly to the wisdom, her eyes flicking forward for a moment towards the horizon, wondering how far they were from the rocks ahead. The trip was painfully slow.. and Ta had said it himself.. That there wasn't much time.

When her eyes finally dropped back to her father the tinest hints of a smile finally touched her, eyes tinged with tears.- "You know mom is going to be so angry at you..."

-He laughed.. a sound weak and broken with a cough before another wide smile crossed his maw, dragging a paw slowly up to rest his head against, making sure he was stable on Ta before he mused softly.- "Yes, I'm sure she will be actually. But she would have been angry as well if I'd let that monster run off with one of the pride cubs as well."

"It's easy to be angry at someone you love. But it's just as easy and natural to forgive them. The heart tends to do it before your mind ever realizes. I'll make sure to apologize though."

-Her mind shifted softly, eyes touching Ta as her father spoke. She wanted to come clean to her best friend.. the one she cared so much for.. but she was so scared. Hopefully the words her father spoke were true. Hopefully Ta's heart would forgive her before his mind and body could pull him so far away from her that she'd never find him.

Her paws faltered for a moment, before she picked up the pace again falling alongside her father silently.-

-He watched gently as she fell behind, offering her a question just as lame as her first.- "Is something wrong Kami?"

"You.. you forgive me, don't you? I really didn't mean for any of this to happen..."

**to be continued, safe keeping**

At the time he finally got his pace set, the weight becoming numb in the back of his mind and nerely forgotten. All that mattered were the sounds of his love, and her father. The blood was warm, and seemed to cool with the air around him, and he almost wished to run, to get back as soon as he could. Every moment he knew was one closer to a death seemingly unstoppible. Though he had no idea if it was just fear or fact, Ta'Ziyan knew that he would try his hardest to prevent it as much as he could. He had to.

The conversation helped distract him as he moved down the hill and past the watering hole, pausing just a moment in wonder. Should he stop and help clean the king again? He knew they were far too close, now in range of yelling, but somehow he would let Kami decide. The two still speaking, he moved on towards the rock ahead, his eyes downcast in the path before him.

The sunrise touched the rock, and the copper male slowed his steps lightly at the king's last question. He didn't know if there would be time enough for them to get everything out, and somehow he wanted Kami to get through this conversation. She needed to say these things, and not be distracted by all the pridemembers taking her father away from her in his last moments.

"I'm not angry..." -It was the truth really.. even after the death that she was too naive to see at the moment it would be true. She couldn't be angry at him for being the king.. for doing as he promised to those that lived within the lands.

Shaking her head a little, she pulled forward once more, letting her own thoughts and worries about the future slip aside. Weak smile touching her, she looked forward, offering optimistically.- "Look, we're almost to the rocks! We'll be home very soon."

-His eyes shifted softly, taking in the familar and comforting sight of his home, a soft wave of emotion touching him. This would probably be the last time he saw this place.. this home he loved so very much. But atleast he was here. Coughing softly, as he shifted his weight his voice turned to boy.- "It would be too much to ask for you to carry me up the rocks.. Perhaps it'd be best if you simply left me at the base and went to get the queen for me?"

-Kami fell silent as she awaited Ta's answer. It made sense.. he wanted to talk to mother first.. reassure her and apologize.. and then he'd let the other lioness' take care of him. Maybe she could even watch.. learn something. If her stomach could handle it.

The male was taken aback by the comment by the king, having been just idly listening until the words were directed his way. Grunting slightly at first, he shifted his eyes upward once more and did a soft smile. While Mufasa wouldn't really see it, Kami would, and hopefully her responses would sooth the elder above him.

"I must insist, your highness," he started gently, "that if the situation calls for it, I will indeed take you all the way up the rocks...besides, I always do enjoy the sunrises from that view..." Letting out a soft laugh at that, he just grinned stupidly as he tried to lighten the mood. However, it dissappeared soon enough as an akward silence brushed his senses once more. He started to question if the mood was right for that kind of comment.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 15, 2006 3:43 pm

"Mmmm.." -He held the soft hum for a long moment, as his mind thought over the words, before finally it stopped and he answered lightly, once again shifting himself comfortably on the copper boy's back.- "Very well, but don't push yourself. There is no reason for both of us to be in pain today."

-Kami chimed in quickly, drawn on by the proposed cheerfulness and opptimism, gaining a faintly true smile of her own.- "If he gets tired I'm sure he'll say so. And he can stop if need be. I could bring mother the rest of the way."

-But already Mufasa's mind had wandered again, his eyes shutting as the soft serenity of numbness swallowed his body, his words falling instead to what the boy said.- "Sunrises are beautiful from the rock." -To see Sarabi glow in the morning light.. as the stars slowly flickered and disappeared.-

Nodding to Kami, he set her a releaved and thankful smile before looking to the short distance they had left. He was surprised that no one had come to help them, but he also figured that it was better for Sarabi. The queen would be better if on the rock, and it was fair. If all the others left, and she didn't see her mate, Ta knew it would end up so much worse. Out of anyone, she should be the first to join his side.

"Yes...the glow and how it touches the lands...colors and paints them, I could never tire from such a sight. That would be one of the many things that keep me here in these lands..." Trailing off, he stole a glance to where Kami was walking by their sides.
