"Eh...I've been better. That Gaius guy I told ya about? He changed...Um, not like personality wise or any thing. But y'know...physically. It was pretty bad...'Spically since it was his freakin' birthday, y'know?" Marshall said in one breathe of air as he sat down in one of the few dry spots in the tent. It was probably the first time he ever actually said it out loud:

He Changed.

"But, I guess thats not such a big deal, y'know? I mean, hell...I'll be changed soon enough." he said, rubbing the back of his neck.

"So, how you've been?" Marshall added, trying to change the subject quickly.

Alec continued on the same tangent, ignoring the attempt at changing the subject or at least accidently doing so. "Ay, s'alwehs 'ard t'see i', a neh." He shook his head and fidgetted with his foot-fin until his hands wandered to the activity of prodding at the leaves sprouting from his knee. "e's ekay, ye? e'll be fine, evrehthin'll be fine." It felt awkward saying it, though it wasn't the first time he'd ever uttered the words. This time however, his tone seemed a little duller than usual.

Abruptly reminding himself not to fidget with his leaves, the teen variably sat on his hands and managed to crack a smile. "Ye like wha' a' done wi' th'place?" He chuckled a bit and motioned to the odd choice of decor. "A' even stole a' droom." He said this with a sort of childish mischeviousness, like he was truly pleased that managing to sneak something of the sort past the Doctor's gaze, as it seemed.

"Heh heh...Nice." Marshall said, admiring the small piece of the drum set despite having no idea what the story behind it was. Speaking of which, he wasn't even sure why Alec was living out here in the first place. Surely there were enough Duplexes for every one. And worst case scenario room-mates weren't that bad.

Now if Marshall had any guts he'd ask why Alec was out here. It certaintly couldn't be by choice. Alec was closer to being a human than a fish, actually. But, of course, Marshall was rather spineless. So...

"Weird weather we've been having, eh? Looks like its Winter..."

"Winteh?" Alec arched a brow as much as he could, automatically looking to the sky as if it held the answer. "Theh's neh snow... is gonneh snow soon?" Apparently the teen had no knowledge of tropical climate, or at least enough to know that the rules of the rainy isle of Ireland didn't apply here.

Marshall snickered lightly. Rude, yes, but still, he found it funny that Alec honestly thought it was snow this far down here. Still, with people turning into animals around you? Maybe it snowing in the tropics ISN'T that bizarre of an idea.

"I don't think it snows this far south...Then again, I've never seen Snow before. Except on those cheesy christmas specials I always ended up watching..." Marshall murmered, looking up at the bleak grey sky with an almost...content look on his face.

Alec would look more disappointed at the revelation had he not despised the cold stuff as it is. Fortunately it didn't occur to him that Marshall may have derived amusement from his lack of knowledge on the topic, but it was probably for the better. Returning to a topic he was sure he was learned on, she continued without hesitation. "S'been rainin' a lil. S'a b***h f'keepin a fiyeh goin', a'll tell ye." The teen grunted while gesturing with his snout at the sky they were apparently focused on before gathering a clever idea.

"So, aneh news?" He figured he'd use the opportunity to bring himself up to date on current events in the Village while he could.

"Huh?!" Marshall said, snapped out of his daze. He wasn't sure why Alec was asking Marshall of all people what was going on in the town...He barely knew what, 5 people?

"Well, um...A lot of new people keep showing up. I think some one moved in the room under mine...And, um...Yeah. Not much else. I've been distratced by Gaius' big change, y'know?" Marshall said sheepishly, wishing that he knew more. He was starting to get the feeling that Alec wasn't out here willingly.

The sharkboy was excited to hear about the news, no matter how insignificant it seemed. Perhaps Marshall knew what'd become of Nita? Had he met Amaya yet? Did Sid make it back to the Village alright? What happened to Thom, why hasn't he come and visited like he promised? Questions flooded his mind as he anticipated their eventual answer. Marshall must know something.

...Apparently not.

Could he blame him? The guy was new, just like a lot of other people. He couldn't possibly be in the loop just yet. Even with this in mind, the disappointment was now a little more clear from his features, the young punk kid's smile wavering until his voice finally squeezed out of his lungs much quieter than one would expect. "Oh. Cool."

Marshall sighed, feeling so...useless. He'd grown use to this feeling lately. After Josh's transformation, and even Gaius', he was just...pathetic.

"Um...Well...I mean...I met this old guy named Sid...I keep running into him, actually. I don't think he likes me very much. He got me drunk for the first time. Wish I remembered that better. Um...You know who Josh is, right? He changed...It happened before Gaius'....It was...Kinda...It was really scarey."
PostPosted: Tue Sep 26, 2006 3:48 pm

The teen shook his head when asked about Josh, not being able to recall the name. A lot of changes it seemed, but that was always expected in a place like this. It was easy to lose track of people already.

"Neh, bu' a neh Sid." The sharkboy smirked a bit, lightening his mood upon mention of the crazy man he'd met by the river. "Funneh bloke, defin'tleh a peice o'work, th' guy's a reh'l job." Alec snickered at the thought of the bad influences he must be spreading through the Village as they spoke.

Marshall couldn't help but chuckle. Despite the incident with Seth, or the fact that he was kind of a jerk to Gaius after his change, Marshall did find the old man some what...entertaining.

"Heh heh...Can't argue there." Marshall said, swiping at a Mosquito with out much thought. He neve WAS fond of the annoying little buggers.

"So, um...Can I ask you some thing? Its gonna sound kind of weird...But, um...Your first change...How bad does it hurt?" Marshall asked. He was sure Alec was younger than him, but obviously he knew a lot more about the changes than Marshall did.

Alec was a little taken aback by how obsessed Marshall seemed to be on the idea of changing, though he knew the cause. He'd acted much the same when he first arrived on the island and fully understood the implications of the Doctor's 'tests'. Seeing a close friend suffer was not lost to him either and although he didn't want to frighten Marshall, he also didn't want to lie and leave him unpreprared.

"I' 'urt..." The teen mumbled, feeling it unnecessary to elaborate. "S'when me teef fell ou', y'see?" As if his statement wasn't self explanatory enough, he curled back a lip to point at the razor-sharp bits in his mouth.

It was then that Marshall...Lost his train of thought aparently. "...WOAH! COOL!" Marshall said, leaning in closer to Alec's razor-sharp teeth. "Thats so cool! Man, if you ever get a tooth pulled or some thing I'm so calling dibs!" the child-like Marshall said.

It was strange. If this was a week earlier, Marshall would've just...let it go. But he didn't. He wasn't sure if it meant he was stupid, or simply that he was growing more at ease with the people around him.

Alec chuckled amusedly, happy he could provide some amusement to a fellow mate of his. He always was the best at gathering attention. "Ye sure." He laughed and gestured sluggishly. A' go' lots t'spare, theh alwehs seem t'grow back fast anehways."

The teen continued to snicker as he recalled a previous event that up until now, he'd refused to talk about due to countless amounts of bitter attitude bottled up inside. "Las' time a' go' n' a figh', a' lost a few. Come t' think o' i', I seem teh be fighten' a lo' recentleh. Mehbeh is th'gunk insi' me..." By 'gunk' he of course meant the administered batch of foreign DNA. "O's cuz a'm irish." A mischevious grin crossed his features, a certain haughtiness of pride of his heritage.

Marshall snickered, before swatting at the back of his neck. "********' Mosquitos...I guess the rain really brings 'em out, right?" Marshall said, slowly learning how the island worked:

-It was always humid
-The rain brought mosquitos
-Pissy Dragons roam the jungle

"Well, its gettin' a lil late...I think I'm gonna head to the cafeteria. You wanna come?" Marshall asked. Missing both announcements from Moreau, Marshall was oblivious to Alec's current restraints.
