Vrael looked up and said, "She looks like it." he took back the book and replaced it on the shelf. "Now. you are an elf and a male. what more, you are new here. It draw some things about the training to your attention, You are in the majority. Most of the people here are male, of of the males, most of them are elves. What you do not is that we have not had a new female Rider for the last decade. I thought that you should be aware of this, since as we are speaking, a human female has arrived. You will be sharing a dorm with her. there have only been four other human females who are Riders in the history of Riders." he paused, waiting to see if there were any questions.

"Herkta will show you in a minute, after I'm done talking to the girl. Your training will start in the morning, as will hers. You will have more things explained to you then. I would, but I have more pressing matters to attend." he got up and showed him to the door. "Come in." he addressed to Brenia. She got up, with her dragon on her shoulder and entered, with the door snapping shut behind her, as if swallowing her up.

He smiled at Brenia, but she was still on guard. She had not lived this long by throwing trust around. "I am Vrael." He stated "I am the leader of the Dragon Riders." he paused. "You have been chosen as a Rider, as you must have relized by now. What youdo not relize is that you very special, even for a Rider. You are a woman, and you are a human. In our history, we have only had four human women be Riders. We have a majority of Riders who who are elves. Also, a majority of males. You are the only female here right now, brenia. for the last decade, we havenopt had a single female join our ranks. We had expected it to be a elf, but instead, we have you. Not that we don't want you!" he hold up his hands. Vrael got up and started to pace. Her eyes followed he, slited. "you are in a akward position. we can do nothing to help you. You will be in a dorm with another Rider, who is male you saw as you entered this room. Good luck." he sat back down, making it vlear that this speech was over. Brenia jerkily nodded her head. "you dragon lacks a name. here, pick one." her reached for the book and tosed it to her. quickly, she shuffled through it and found a list of 'j' names. there were some that she liked, 'jrenda' 'jert' and 'Jura'. she looked at her dragon, who looked solemly back. you are Jura, aren't you? he yawned a puffed smoke, but mentally she got a happy feeling. "his name is Jura." "good. this is all I have to say to you . Rider will lead you to were you must be." he opened the door for her and allowed her to leave.

"I'm Brenia, and this is Jura." She pointed at the dragon crawling on top of her head. "is the man who's supposed to show us to our rooms here?"

She joined him on the bench, but looked sideways at him, sizing him up. He didn't look like a threat. Brenia's eyes moved to the amazing creature on her lap. she already felt as if they had been together forever. The sound of footsteps distracted her.

"I'll show you after I meet this lady." Herkta turned to Brenia. "So. you are the female." he looked her up and down, and she stood still through his examination. He nobbed at what he saw. "You both will do fine. Come! it is this way." he lead the two of them back down the staircase and across a hill to a building. It was stone, but unlike Vrael's tower, it had a welcoming air. There were a few people on the grounds who watched them pass curiously. Herkta ignored them, and continued on his way.

Herkta lead them inside the building. "this is where you will be staying." he lead them up a stairwell to the third floor and into a room on the left. it was a medium sized room, just big enough to fit two beds and still have space to move in. "I'm afraid that as your dragons get big you will have to chose weather to move into a different building where you can sleep with your dragon, or have them sleep outside. someone will come tomorrow morning to wake you and show you where the training begins. the room across the hall," he pointed, "is empty, and is the only other room on this floor. I suppose you and your dragons are hungry now?"

Grinning, Herkta lead them back down the stairs and outside. There weren't people there this time. it was quite deserted. "I see it is dinner time. The mess hall is this way." Brenia wasn't paying attention to what was happening around her. She seemed to be oblivious to wahat was going on, but in reality, she was sooking it all up. "Here." he had shown them to a wooden building with a bunch of tables in it. "this is where you will eat." What was not immediatly apparent, was that it had no west wall. There instead wher dragon of all sizes and colors, carefully watching their Riders, as if not trusting them to be able to take care of themselves.
