does anyone here know that lkh said that the reason why she doesnt want to make a movie is because it wouldn't turn out the way she pictured it? that's right, she wants everything to be perfect, and to make it according to her imagination.
so in reality, she's trying to give us the best movie experience we could get in this situation.
but she says that she would only be able to make a movie is was there all the time (which she doesn't have the time to do) and if she found a director that would do anything she wanted them to. she wants the characters to be how they're portrayed in the books, and now the six foot tall blonde actors in hollywood (her words, not mine)
the reason why i know this is because i went to her book signing!!! yay for me!

Personally, I think they will make an Adult Film version of the book before they do a real series or movie. They will change the names around some but the plot, or lack of, will be the same.

my friends and i have discussed, and decided the only way to do any of the charas justice is if Square Enix CG'ed it. those are the only people who could come close to making the charas look the way they are supposed to. and, it would be more realistic than flat anime. but i agree that they'd have to butcher the plot too much for a movie or series.
just my opinion, though. this is a hot topic for debate. biggrin

An animated film of some kind, as opposed to live action. That way all the actor debates would go out the window, and we'd just have to deal with voices. It could work, and it would allow the characters to be more like we imagine them to be. Anyone else think it's a great idea?

I remember when I first saw the Incubus Dreams commercial, at the beginning of it, they never said it was a book! I thought that they finally (and secretly) came out with an Anita Blake movie! Boy was I fooled (and slightly disappointed. -_- ). They were just advertising Incubus Dreams hitting the bookshelves. I would love to see Anita Blake come to the movies. I wonder though if they'd do like Harry Potter and do the series (though there is definitely more than 7). I would LOVE to see Obsedian Butterfly be made into a movie. lol, that's my favorite book!! Lots of action and Edward! Yay!

After a while, the books stop being books and become readable porn >O And with the Lunatic Cafe, I dunno how fond they'd be of doing a snuff porno film. >O I wouldn't want to see them be all done; After NiC, they wouldn't be allowed in theaters anymore, probably D:

I'm on the flip side.
I wouldn't mind them becomming a movie, anime or both...mainly because I want to see the films stick to the books...
I wouldn't like to see them mainly because it could kill the books, letting others not be able to not read the books....

I would personally hate for the books to become a movie. Reasons: 1. Their just are not that many good looking guys that look like her characters that can act! It would so be a downfall of that character. 2. The producers would ruin Anita Blake! It would not follow the criteria in the book and there would be a mob if they messed it up! 3. The first few movies would come out in theaters but, the last few would not, it would be like hard to see the movies, and some of us who are too young (me) would not get to see them because of their adult content. 4. They are just tooo darn good to put in a movie! 5. It would distracts Laurell from her writing!
Okay, I am done storming now. Have a great day!

All good points, though I feel I must offer some contestation to a couple. 1. I'm inclined to agree, which is why it would be interesting if it was done as some sort of animated film. 2. A point Laurell herself worries about, which is why she refuses to give the rights to anyone unless she gets the final say in what is done. 3. A point I can't see getting around. Hmm... if only we could get some sort of ticket stamped saying 'I read these books, I get to go to the movie!'. Incidentally, that would also prevent peoples from not reading the books. blaugh Ah well. I can dream, non? 4. Good point, though some things end up being just as good, or even better, as movies. 5. I have to disagree. She says that writing a variety of things actually increases her production. For instance, writing the Micah novella actually increased the work she got done on Danse Macabre.

There would have to be seriously strict standards for me to ever want the books turned into a movie/TV series.
- It would have to be a TV series. You can't put the necessary details for the books into a movie. See "Queen of the Damned". - Hamiliton has tons of control. - No "big-name" actors. See "Queen of the Damned" and "Interview with the Vampire." Oh gawd, I just thought of Tom Cruise playing Jean-Claude. gonk crying IT BURNS MY BRAINS. - Online polls fans vote in, maybe on Hamiliton's blog. Just because it'd be spiffy to know the author could take our opinions into account.
Of course, that would never happen. Too many good books are mutilated when transferred to the screen, especially books involving preternatural creatures/magic/etc.. Although, it would be spiffy just to see which actors were picked, even if the movie sucked.

if i could cast it i would say stuart townsend for jean claude for the simple fact that he is a good actor with a voice to die for whee maybe catherine zeta-jones for anita i think she would be good (altho maybe a little too tall sweatdrop ) i cant think of an actor who is decent enough to play asher (and look hot all at the same time) not many hot golden hair boys in hollywood... as for the actual script for the interview with the vampire movies anne rice actually wrote the script for the movie which is why it was sooo good so maybe laurell could write the script for the movie (altho it might be a little long sweatdrop ) and i think that if we could manage to fit all the characters into one movie seems hard i think that if it could be made into an anime it might be cool but some animes dont have the same appeal as hot guys unless it could be done like vampire hunter d bloodlust i think the artstyle of the second was better than the first. but i have posted a really long post sweatdrop so i will stop now.
