Very interesting reading from Gaiman there.
I can certainly empathise with more than a few points!

So... Did anyone see John Barrowman on Jonathan Ross' show on Friday night, and the completely continuity-less Jack clip for later in the series?
The spoiler that I didn't elaborate on some months ago because I thought that it was too far-fetched to be credible is looking more and more accurate.

Liked tonight's episode. A little overwrought in places, but it was certainly a change of pace.
And please do elaborate smile

It was very Impossible Planet, but not bad at all. And it wasn't Human Nature, so I could live with it quite happily without rantage smile
I still haven't decided whether I can actually watch next week's...

Too much of a clone of The Impossible Planet for me to really enjoy it on its own merits. I'll be away at a LRP event next weekend, so I'll have to catch the Friday repeat. Xag, the spoilers are here. RTD is apparently saying that ideally, the kiddies will never need to know that Torhwood exists as a series, so we can't expect continuity.

Yeah, I'd heard the latter quote. Thanks for the clip, though smile

Tonight's episode really was exceptional.
I've always thought the BBC was at its best doing period.

Yes, I wasn't quite sure I was going to enjoy the latest episode, but ended up enjoying it rather a lot!
It shall be interesting to see if the conclusion is as good. smile

Was it a two-parter then? I've not yet watched it as I'm at my parents' house - and in fact I spent Saturday evening pulling all the muscles in my arms learning how to play Sonic and the Secret Rings biggrin
I've recorded it and I guess I'll watch it, but I'm still worried about it trampling over a New Adventure book I rather enjoyed.
Vulpinity, interestingly the extras on Survival mentioned that the producers have known for years that if they ask the BBC production department to give them period stuff, they'll excel - but if they ask for sci-fi, it'll look awful smile

Well, I've seen it and so far no trampling. I am, however, put in mind of the BBC book "Hollow Men"...
Also, allow me to interject with a gripe about the BBC's clock. Do they use a different time signal from every other channel? I can set the recorder for ITV4 or Five US or pretty much any other Freeview channel, safe in the knowledge that it won't cut off any of my programming. BBC programmes, however, *always* start late according to the clock on my DVD recorder. And since that's set with the radio signal, you'd think it would be right... I came within 5 seconds of cutting off the end of this episode. Would have been fine if they hadn't used that stupid CBeebies web page advert...

Can we be generous with the spoiler warnings, please? I've been at a LRP event since last Thursday, and I won't be catching this week's episode until next Friday's repeat.
