UPDATE
PostPosted: Fri Dec 15, 2006 3:30 pm

I just bought my very first tarot deck the other day. I LOVE it. I was going to buy a beginner's deck, because they're cheaper and I was just wanting to see how things would go with it and if I would like it or not. But then I saw this other deck that just "called out" to me. It's a Celtic Dragon deck.... I forget the exact name of it (and I'm too lazy to go get it). I've only used them once and I must say that they were pretty accurate.... at least I think so. And the pictures on the cards are soooo pretty too!

Well, I don't personaly see anything wrong with it... some people believe they won't give a correct reading if they were preveously used by someone else...

I'd say he's right and wrong...

If you cleanse it... from your friends energy then it should be alright for you to use.. but yeah... I've actualy never experinced anything along those lines so... I would say a simple cleansing ritual would work... Um I will look farther into this matter and get back with more info..

To be perfectly honest I have dabbled a little in Tarot, but stopped because I felt I should learn more about it first. So I would like to become a student please!!!! wink I currently have a deck, but it doesn't feel comfortable to me, so I will hopefully be getting another soon.

I had to ask a few questions. Please don't feel bombarded!!!! sweatdrop
If the tarot deck of today consists of 78 cards, what the tarot deck of yesteryears consist of?

Is it really a good idea to use playing cards in place of a real tarot deck?

Why is the Major Arcana referred to as keys and the minor as pips?? Is it a cultural thing?

Is it really necessary to draw the cards with one specific hand or is any hand ok?

I do not undrestand the shuffling. Do we shuffle and then seperate out the cards? Or is that just a chant?

What does the significator in the Celtic Cross formation represent?

It's been a few days that I have been thinking about all this. ninja

Early European sources describe a deck with typically fifty two cards, like a modern deck with no jokers. The seventy eight card tarot resulted from adding the twenty two trump cards to an early fifty six card variant (fourteen cards per suit). ~Wikipedia

I don't like to use them, it really is just a preference in what kind of card you use.

It's just what they are called I believe... I will find out more and get back to you.

Not necessary but helps the flow of energy through the cards.

When you shuffle the cards it's to put your question or energy into the cards so that you can get the answer through the cards.... ~ not sure what you want me to answer that.

1. Significator - (the card representing the querent or person asking the question - traditionally, one chooses an appropriate card from the pack before shuffling and dealing the other cards; however, a new tradition has begun of 'allowing' the deck to reveal the proper card by dealing this position 'blind' along with the other cards of the layout.) ~~www.spiritual.com.au
