Obie watched him and laughed softly at the look that crossed his face at the thought of getting a tongue piercing. His absent question drew a smirk from her and she gave her shoulder a small shrug.
"I have a tattoo," she replied. "Not near as big as yours though. It's about like this," she said, holding up her hand and spacing her finger and thumb about four inches apart. "No piercings other than my ears though."

"Cool." He said in reply. "May I ask where and what?" he smiled as he finished his ice cream and sat back in the chair. As he sat in silence he thought, Obie was the first one of his friends to see his 'new look.' "Are the piercings a bit much?" He asked looking at her. This was the first time that the thought that they didn't work crossed his mind.

"The piercings are not too much at all," she replied honestly. "As a matter of fact I do believe my first thought upon seeing you was 'holy hell'. I had thought you were good looking before. This look you have now..." she started then stopped with a slight blush. "Well... you get the point." She finished off her ice cream and reached out for a napkin to wipe her sicky fingers off.
"As for what and where, it's a fairy. And maybe one day if you're really, really, really good I'll show you where it is. Either that or take me swimming," she said with an arched brow and smirk. She pushed herself up from the seat and looked down at him.
"It's my turn to give you something," she smiled and started towards the door.

Ra blushed as she spoke of her thought on first seeing him and smiled. "Thanks for an, er, honest opinion." He said wiping his own hands and throwing the wipe away. Her description of her tattoo caused him to raise his eyebrow and smirk. "When we're married you mean." He joked with a snort of laughter and slung the backpack onto his back again.
"Oh the innuendo." He said as they walked out into the scorching heat and brilliant sunshine.
It was a short walk back to campus from the ice cream parlour, one that passed with a mix of esy conversation and companionable silences. In no time they were at the music rooms of the school and Ra was feeling quite excited to hear Obie play and sing.

The closer they got to the music rooms, the more nervous Obie got. Jonathan had been the first person to ever hear her sing and she had known him all her life at the time. Nato had been so lucky because she had been carried away and it had just come naturally. The difference this time was that she was openly offering to show Ra. Stepping inside the cool room, the nerves started their traditional knot twisting in her stomach and she reached up to pull the hair tie out of her long raven hair. Flashing him a rather nervous smile and combing her fingers nervously through her hair, she walked over to the piano and dropped her fingers down to hover over the cool ivory keys. Placing them properly, she played a couple of chords in hopes that the nerves would go away.
"Any requests?" she asked, with a light smirk and quick glance up at him.

Ra took a seat close to the piano but far enough away to give Obie her space. He returned her nervous smile with a more reassuring one and shrugged when she asked for requests. "Whatever is your favourite to play?" He said, watching her fingers glide over the keys as they found thier place.

Chewing on her lip, she dropped her eyes back down to the piano before her. Running her fingers lightly over the top of the keys again until they found their resting places. Taking a deep breath, she glanced back over at him and sat up straighter so she could breathe properly. She wasn't even sure what song she was playing until she heard the opening chords and she smiled lightly as one of her favorite hymns sprang to life beneath her fingertips. Closing her eyes for a moment, the nerves melted away as she listened to the music, then opened them again as she began to sing 'Ave Maria'.
When the song ended, she held the sustaining pedal down for a moment to let the final notes ring around the acoustically designed room. Slowly lifting her fingers and then foot, she turned her eyes over to Ra in the silence that followed.

Ra watched and listened to her play. He was not familiar with the song but it sounded beautiful, haunting even. As she reached the climactic parts of the song it sent chills down his spine, the pitch of her voice and the uninteligable words. He had studied Latin a little in his last school, but not enough to understand the words.
When she finished he honestly couldn't think of a word to say. He just sat there feeling stupid. After a few moments of watching her watch him he sat up straight and let out the breath he had been holding. "Wow, that was excellent." He said, a smile crossing his lips. "What kind of song is it?"

The length of silence that followed was terrible. She couldn't read the expression on his face and she remained frozen, afraid to be the first one to break the silence. When he finally moved and spoke, she too released the breath she had been holding. She blushed lightly at his praise and smile and looked back down to the keys as she continued to run her fingers over their glossy surface.
"It's a church hymn, though you can find it most anywhere. It's actually a prayer to the Virgin Mary that's been put to music," she replied and looked back up at him, still a bit shy.

Ra stood and walked over to the piano, folding his arms and resting them on top as he watched her run her fingers over the keys. "You know I could go to hell for listening to that." He said with a smile, trying to ease her nerves a bit. "I can see why you hide your talent, you'd be snapped up into the classical world of musical corruption."

She watched him walk over to her and lean on the piano. At his words her first reaction was to apologize, but the smile on his face kept her from uttering the words.
"Well... considering what you've told me about your parents and how they'll react to your slightly altered body, I think listening to my song should be the least of your worries," she smirked lightly and struck a high D. At his next words, her blush deepened a little.
"You flatter me. I only keep it hidden because it's mine and I don't want anyone to take it away from me," she said, then hit a sharp sour discord on purpose, a small frown furrowing her brow. She realized how silly she sounded saying the words, but they had spilled out unchecked. She pushed herself up to her feet and the action brought her to his eye level. "That came out kind of wrong. Thank you is what I meant to say," she smirked and pulled her eyes away from his to pull the cover down over the keys.

"I like that it's so personal to you. It makes me honoured to have heard you play." He smiled again and stepped back from the piano, looking around the sparse yet large room. "So, that's it?" He said with a sigh, walking over to the window and looking out at the dimming light. "I won't ask the stupid question of did you have a good day, we've already said it several times." He turned from the window to grab his bag. Something was telling him to get out of the room as fast as possible, but then he really didn't want to leave.

Obie's smile warmed at his sweet words and she looked up to watch him walk over to the window. Sliding her hands into her pockets, she stepped out from behind the bench and listened to him with a small smirk playing across her face. She moved over to the side of the piano and leaned back agaiinst it to watch him again as he picked up his bag.
"That's it," she affirmed with a small smile and shrug. Another silence fell over the room as neither of them moved towards the door right away. Chewing lightly on the inside of her lip, she pushed herself away from the piano and walked up to him. Pulling her hands from her pockets, she slipped her arms around him and gave him the hug she had wanted to give him earlier that afternoon.
"Thank you Ra. For the book and the lunch and... the whole day," she said softly.

He was suprised by the hug, what he didn't need right now was that kind of closeness. It made everything harder. "Anytime." He said wrapping his arm around her and holding her tightly. "Believe me I had just as good a day as you did." He said resting his head against hers. "One of those days that should last longer."

Obie closed her eyes as he hugged her back and was mildly suprised when he rested his head against hers. The gesture seemed more intimate than it should have. Opening her eyes again, she swallowed back the pounding of her heart and eased herself out of the shared embrace.
"I think I might have to agree with you on that," she smiled as she looked up into his eyes and reached up to brush a rogue lock of hair out of her eyes. "So maybe I'll see you tomorrow?" she asked, keeping the hopefulness out of her voice and eyes.
