I love the manga A LOT...

but the anime makes me want to cry. O______O

The manga I guess I like not for the OMG BOY ON BOY ACTION, but rather it is a lot funnier and yet still easy to follow in the manga than in the anime. The anime I just... don't like. They gave Shuichi pink hair. I mean I know he changes the color a bit... but he is supposed to have black hair.

On the covers of the manga they change it.... but the story is supposed to have him with black hair. And Yuki looks just plain SCARY in the anime. Makes me wanna kill babies.

In all... the art and humor are much better in the manga. I love gravitation, but the anime SUCKS.

[And, I remember it quite fondly, but I do hate the storyline]

Reetsu-Meijin
I'm determined to know if I'm the only one...

I hate Gravitation.

I DON'T KNOW WHY, SO DON'T RESPOND WITH SOMETHING LIKE, "OMG!! Y DUN'T U LIEK GRAVI?!?!?11 OMG ITZ SO KAWAIIIi1" Thank you.

So, I want to know if I'm really the only one who hates it; I've seen the first few episodes and some other stuff. But I just don't like it. o.o

Edit : I literally CRINGE when someone mentions it. O____o I love yaoi though, obviously, but... eh. *shrug*
You're not the only one. I mean.. I liked a few episodes and stuff, and the merchandise...but a lot of times I can't stand it.

>>I think it's cuz my cousin talks about it WAY too much...<<

Um. . .

I bought the first volume of the manga just to see what everybody was squealing about.

And dearsweetlordylords it was AWFUL.

The art is terrible,
the storyline is . . .actually, it isn't,
the characters are strangle-worthy,

and
just
no.

The art does take a little getting used to. I will admit I was unimpressed when I first saw it too. I suppose you can really appreciate two things about the anime... if you have to... The art, and the music. I must admit, I am ADDICTED to Gravitation's music.

Although with my personal taste I got over the art in the manga simply because I enjoyed the characters personalities and the plot line so much. I find I can do that if something keeps me thuroughly entertained.

I actually really like Gravitation so I'd like to take this opportunity to tall you my Oppinion:

First of all I've noticed a lot of people on here bitching about the art and I didn't think it was that bad, but then again I have an appreciation of a WIDE range of manga artists all who have there own style, from a rough sketchy look to sleek lines and curves.

Gravitation's art is admittily not the best in the Manga world, but its not that BAD either, trust me I've seen worse. Yes, Shiichi can be annoying at the beggining of the manga, esspecilly in the first two volumes, but as Bad Luck becomes more famous and Shuichi's realshionship with Yuki develops the story becomes a lot darker, it gets more serious and the plot line gets better. Hell Shuichi gets friggin GANG RAPED and you find out Yuki MURDERED bunch of people in the fourth volume of the Manga for god's sake!

Along with the dark themes Gravi is extramly funny in part's esspecilly when Shuichi crossdresses not once, but twice in order to keep his relashionship with Yuki, and I for one am a sucker for a guy crossdressing. Not only that the rest of the cast are brill, Like K there American Manager with a gun festish who joins the group in volume 6 or 7 I think, Ryuchii, Shuichi's hyper dopallganger and the lead singer of Nittle Grasper (They evetually reform later on in the Manga) and lets not forget Hiro, Shuichi's guitarist and best friend and Yuki, his lover; the two men that are closest to the our main protege XD

All in all I think people need to discard the anime (I agree with other people, it pretty much sucked and didn't even follow the manga properly. The anime started when Bad luck was already in the beggining of it's career, which dissapointed me greatly becuase i wanted to see Shuichi try and kill himself by jumping out of his third floor classroom window, when his keybored ******** up on him and he loses all of his synth data, which happens in the very first volume of the manga XD) as it gives Gravi a bad impression, and stick to the manga, but you need to have a bit of patiance with this series; yes Shuichi can annoy the ******** out of you at times (And some of his facial expressions can definantly put you off) and yes, Yuki CAN be scary, but if you persevere and read past the first two volumes you'll see a really good storyline developing and you might just realize its not as bad as you think.

Despite its many flaws Gravi is tolarable, adorable and quite enjoyable! ^_^ Also i do apologize for the rather large post I seemed to have ranted on a bit XD

Tsuki no Mugen
You would get along with one of my best friends quite well. He hates it when I mention the series, or even say the word "yaoi" for that matter.

As for myself, I love it. It was among the first few anime that I got interested in, and the same can be said for manga collecting.
Yea same here. One of my friends hates anything remotely sexual in anime and manga for some reason. Every time me and my friends are talking about anything like yaoi he walks away from us.

@Jade Rotaski: You and I fundamentally disagree on everything lol. I’ve read the entire manga and seen the anime. I actually thought the anime was better than the manga because it ignored most of the manga. Murakami’s attempts at seriousness and angst were so pathetic and unbelievable, even for BL manga. It just seemed to me that everything she did in that series was very random and not very thought out.

To me this was her line of thinking: I want some angst now so let’s have Shuichi’s get gang raped. All right, angst done now, back to the crazyness! Oh but wait, Shuichi needs to deal with the rape angst right? All right, his great obsession with Eiri cures him of his rape trauma… yeah! That’ll work. Let’s all go SD now yay!

The only real consistency is Eiri’s trauma, which never is truly resolved I think. I mean there was that thing with Yuki’s sister/brother, which I thought made the situation worse. What was Murakami thinking? gonk

After I stop giggling... I love how you describe what she does with angst and how she gets her character over it... you have given me much to think about.

Although I don't think I will altogether hate the series... I just like Shuichi... and Touma... oh gods Touma *insert drooling emoticon* way too much. Wow, I sound pretty pathetic don't I?

Nah, because I don't hate the series either. I really like the supporting cast! Tatsuha/Ryuichi is one of my favorite pairings ever and I like reading fanfics about them. :3 Tohma is beyond awesome and Mika's really cool. Hiro's the sweetest guy ever and so on. I just think I would have loved the series much more if Eiri and Shuichi weren't the focus of the series.

i like love gravi with a burning passion. Especially the manga thats yoai while the anime is....shonen-ai. but in this case, it's wierd cuz that yaoi has a better story line than the shonen-ai. very strange indeed.

Yeah, that's one thing about Murakami... She gave the supporting cast better personalities than the leads... Well, at least more believable personalities that is... Well, maybe aside from Tohma, no matter how wickedly awesome he is. I am not sure too many guys would marry another's sister, just to get close to the one they liked... Even though that theory of mine is shaky at best, because I think towards the end of the series Mika is pregnant, and Tohma does seem to genuinely care about her. However, with how freakishly protective he is... I mean to the point of pushing someone into speeding traffic... Not really that believeable... Unless he were with the mob ninja

Like I said though, I just can't bring myself to hate Shuichi and Eiri that much... I mean, as ashamed as I was with myself afterwards... I picked up Gravitation EX over the summer gonk Even worse after vowing to despise it, I really started to like it... I am even considering getting the next volume when it comes out.

Gravitation will always hold a special place in my heart for being the first yaoi-ish manga I ever read, but there is definitely better stuff out there. I thought both the anime and manga were good, but not the best they could be. Still, it's definitely not the worst thing to read or watch, and it has a decent plot. And I love the music. 3nodding
