The point of religion is to give people a sense of reason and purpose in life, which they cannot accomplish through correct reasoning and philosophy because they do not wish to believe that their minds are capable of arriving at answers not handed to them by a divine being. Religion also exists to give people an abstract entity with which to load their problems in life, and which to blame for all problems and personal flaws in society. Once again so that they do not have to be responsible for their own logical conclusions. Were religion to be used properly, it would be as a faith in a bieng who supported the reasoning of man's mind, which is his highest function. Instead of labeling all events as, "Divinely inspired" and all goods as "Divinely given", we would recognize a god as the bieng who started the mind of man, therefore letting it become productive and profitable via reason and logic. Much like the man who starts a fire is not personally in charge of every stray spark, it is altogether unreasonable to assume that there is a great being who is responsible for every action and thought of man. Such a bieng may exist in supreme power, but to think that he desires to control all is a belief leading to the doubt of ones own reasoning ability, which is the doubt of ones own mind. The doubt of ones own mind is the doubt of life, and the doubt of life is death.
