For me it went from being in the whole grunge scene. So I started off with Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden, and then went into APC, NIN, TOOL and Rob Zombie

korn, who inspired me to check out styles by other popular artists such as marilyn manson, nin, and APC, lead me to tool, and i've pretty much stuck to those five for about 5 or 6 years now.

yup, same here, Korn got me into all this Rock & Roll craziness.
my path was as follows
early years (5 and younger): whatever my parents played, a lot of beatles, and Doors and other contemporary stuff from the time.
country ::shudder:: Sugar Ray (14:59 is still an ok album imho) Smashmouth Limp Bizkit ::big shudder:: Korn Some good Punk in HS and then Tool>NIN>APC (a bit out of order one might think...but thats chronologicaly how it happened)
god...ive confused myself....

My friend got me into Tool. She sent me a mp3 of Stinkfist and so I listened to it and really liked the song. So then I decided to buy AEnima and that was it. Then after that I got into NIN & APC. AEnima is still my favorite Tool album of all time, and my second fav is Lateralus.

I'm a bassist, and one of my friends knows I like listening to music with a lot of bass. So that led me to TOOL.

What lead me to Tool was none other than A Perfect Circle. Before them, I was really into NIN.

I didn't know much about them but my mum's guitar teacher took both me and my mum to one of their concerts when I was 12, it was amazing!!

Around '96 or '97 I was involved in a mixed martial arts (or whatever the term for it is, we called it Shootwrestling) school. One of the guys there was big into Tool, and he got to pick the music that night, so we listened to Undertow. I heard Sober, and it instantly grew onto me. I saved up $15 dollars as fast as any 13 year old could, and bought Undertow.
