"The duplexes?" The question had barely left her lips when she noticed the same thing. "A native visiting one of the residents?" That made sense, especially if any of the tech people were here and had arrived before her. She followed Cole closely, she remembered her parents always saying to wander with a buddy, that way it could be easier to fight if necessary. "We'd be safer at the duplexes." Now what had made her say that, usually she took care not to be rule by fear.

Cole resisted the urge to snort. His suspicion had been climbing since the leaf and he highly doubted anywhere was safe at that moment. "If you don't want to go, you don't have to." he said kindly as he reached the place where the sand met the jungle.
There had been some movement on one of the porches. He hesitated, something was really really wrong.

"No, I'll stay. I'd rather not be alone." That was the closest she would get to admitting that she was scared. She also noticed the movement and scooted closer to the artist. No one could be too careful afterall - right?

Unconciously Cole shifted so that his body was blocking Kaelyn's. Taking a deep breath he moved foreword, slipping the knife from his pocket. If there was anything he learned in the Military Academy, it was stealth. He moved silently, swiftly up the stairs. What met his eyes was the last thing he ever thought he would see.

Kaelyn followed the man, making sure he never got too far ahead. She didn't want to be vulnerable in case something jumped her from behind. She didn't like being this scared, and she didn't like being surprised.
Though when they went up the stairs, she couldn't see around Cole's body to knowwhat he saw, and she hoped it was nothing dangerous.

Sitting in front of them, reclining back on a hammock was the strangest sight Cole had ever seen. It seemed to have the body of the human, covered in dark brown hair, shaggy, looking very much like Chipmunk. A beer was settled in its hand and it was laughing at the two sitting on the steps. " 'Sup homies!"
Absolutly speechless he tapped Kaelyn lightly, "Natives huh?"

She peeked around the artist and gasped. Even with what the doctors had told her she was still startled. "The doctors said they evolves separately and took on animal traits to survive. . .They seem to have acquired terms and habits from the others here." Kaelyn's voice held a certainty she did not feel. What she really wanted to do was run away and leave the native alone, when they turned this into a resort, the visitors wouldn't understand as well.

"Oye sitting right here! I can here everything you say girlie!" The chipmunk gave her a very indignant look. "What the bloody 'ell are yer talking about? Resort?" He snorted, "Ya must be newbies to this island huh. Boy have you been duped."
Cole turned to her still rather bug eyed. "T...that's no native, it's not possible."

"But its the only logical explanation." Kaelyn insisted desperately, trying to ignore the furry creature talking to her. "And the doctors wouldn't lie." Not when everything was at stake, they wouldn't lie to someone that came here to do charity work. And the chipmunk called her 'girly' if that was not creepy enough, he was trying to tell them they had been lied to.

This chipmunk was a rather bitter man rolling his eyes he walked foreword standing right infront of Kaelyn. "Oye. I. Am. Standing. Right. Here. I can hear every word you're saying missy." Poking her in the shoulder he rolled his eyes. 'ere Hang on a second, he dug around in his pocket for a que card. "I always knew I'd have to do this." He grummbled and then cleared his throat. "Welcome to the Island of Doctor Moreass...no that ain't right...Moreau, that's it, Welcome to the Island of Doctor Moreau! You are about to become a subject to the greatest known scientific project known to man-kind. I offer my condolances...Good day!" He sniffed and turned from them, dissapered into the duplex and slammed the door."
"Nice welcoming commitee." Cole began laughing, this had to be part of an attraction, an elaborate ruse to scare the resort goers.

Kaelyn just gaped, especially when he started reading the card, then she couldn't help but giggle even though she knew it was rude. After he slammed the door to the duplex she looked at Cole. "He seemed harmless enough. But I wonder, why would he be trying to deceive us. I mean, he would have no reason to."

"I AIN'T LYING!" The chipmunk called from the duplex, a stream of curses followed.
Cole shrugged and turned from the door looking slightly perplexed. "Maybe we should go ask someone higher up. You know, the resort owner or something. We might look like iddiots but we'd have a lot resolved." The more he talked the stupider the idea sounded.

The idea made sense, but if they had been lied to in the first place, whose to say the higher ups wouldn't lie as well. "I don't think that is a good idea" is what Kaelyn ended up saying. "High up people have already lied to us. I wonder if we will end up like him? Minus the beer and cursing of course." She added with a laugh she didn't really feel, she just wanted to make light of the situation, try to cheer both of them up.

Cole frowned, "That would suck." he growled lightly, he moved foreword and began pounding on the door. "Oye! Beerbrain open up!!" He glanced back at her apologetically. "I'm sorry if I'm over-reacting but I really need to know."
"What the blue blazes do you want." The chipmunk snapped throwing his door open. "Can't a man booze in private...." He gave Kaelyn an appraising look. "Not that I wouldn't mind a bit of company?"

Kaelyn eyed the chipmunk up and down after he opened the door. "Depends on the type of company you are desiring. Friendly chats I am up for, other types depends on how sober we both are and if I can't get better. Also, I would need to know your name, date of birth, and any criminal past you might have. Just to be safe you know" The last bit was a joke, but the geek was known for being a tiny bit perverted, and she couldn't avoid it, even with a very hairy chipmunk. Besides, no harm came from trying to lighten the mood. "Can we come in?"
