"Sure," he agreed, making a beeline for the dresser. It took him a bit of sifting through the door, but he found something that looked like pajamas. Not surprisingly featuring Hawk Man. "These?" he asked, holding them out to her. This wasn't so hard, maybe his daughter would be a nice easy sleeper like Gavin instead of a naggy, whiny one like he remembered Angie being. And hopefully she wouldn't be afraid of the dark.

Remi had to hold back a snicker when he pulled out the Hawk Man pajamas. "Yes, those are fine."

They were Gavin's favorite pair, if only for the reason that it had Hawk Man on it. With a mother's speed and dexterity, she had Gavin changed within moments, careful not to bend his wings the wrong way as she fished them through the two holes in the back of the shirt.

By the time she was finished, Gavin was totally asleep, not even noticing that he had been placed underneath the covers. Didn't even feel the kiss on his forehead when Remi said, "Goodnight." He was too far gone in dreamland.

"Usually I would make him take a bath and brush his teeth," she commented, watching her son as he slept. "But considering he's already completely out I wouldn't want to wake him back up."

Stephan nodded, understanding why you wouldn't want to rewake a toddler at their bedtime. "So, what should we do now?" He asked quietly, knowing that though he probably wouldn't wake him up just by talking, he still wanted to be quiet. He remembered being Gavin's age, faintly, and one of the main things he remembered was that he was never once this good at bed time. Nanny always had to nearly cage him in to get him to sleep.

Ah yes, the question she'd been dreading. What to do now. Dinner had been hard enough to plan for, and as a result she didn't have time to think about after Gavin's bedtime. She wasn't really sure what Stephan wanted to do either. Their last meeting only revealed a few of his interests, but nothing that could be done late at night in an apartment.

"I'm not sure," she turned toward him, also keeping her voice quiet. "I didn't plan this far. What do you want to do?"

Let him make the decision. She was open to just about anything.

What to do, what to do. Well, he would have suggested something off color as a joke, but since they were standing in a toddler's room, he thought that'd be a bit inappropriate. Heading for the door, he suggested, "We could watch a movie?" Yeah, that'd be good. It burned time and left a lot of room for conversation. Or whatever. And with how mellow he was feeling, he was even up for a chick flick.

Movie. That could work. One of her few guilty pleasures that she'd let herself indulge in was a DVD player. It was small, not fancy, and worked when it felt like it, but it still played movies. However, her movie collection wasn't one to be very proud of.

"Sure, I'll let you pick since I can't even remember what all I have," she smiled, heading out of the room. "The TV's back in the living room."

Her tiny, insignificant television. Nothing compared to that huge flatscreen Stephan mentioned when she was over at his apartment. She led him to the cabinet that the TV rested on, and opened it to reveal a small collection of about maybe nine or ten movies. Obviously Remi didn't keep up with the newest blockbusters, but there were a few good titles in there.

"Ooh, fear, you're letting the frat boy pick a movie," he joked, concentrating a bit on the movies there. They were all pretty standard, and of course, there were a few chick flicks. They seemed like a better option that horror or action, right now at least. Hmm. There's Something About Mary. A little unconventional, but perfect. Sort of romantic, sort of funny. "How about this?" He asked, offering the case to her.

"I haven't even watched half the movies I own," she laughed. It was true, she just never made time to watch the movies she received as christmas and birthday presents. "Though I doubt there's anything in here that would surprise me."

When he picked one out, she considered the cover. It was one of the ones she hadn't seen yet. Didn't look too bad.

"Alright, I can put it in," she took the case to get ready to conduct battle with the DVD player. "Feel free to take a seat on the couch while I try to make this work."

Cracking a smile, he did as he was told, taking a seat so he could lean back against the arm of the couch. He'd seen the movie a few times before, though he'd never really paid much attention, and part of him didn't entirely feel like paying attention this time. Alright, so he was trying to behave himself, but his mind was still in the gutter. It always was. Came with the testosterone. "I take it you don't watch movies very often then?" He asked, finding her battle with the player a tiny bit funny.

"I've never had the time," she said, starting to get frustrated with the player. It wasn't loading. She'd opened it and closed it--four times now? Aha! It lived!

"There," she said proudly, shifting from her kneeling position in front of the cabinet back onto her feet. She made her own way to the couch with a sheepish smile, "It always takes a few tries before it registers there's anything in the tray. It's a pretty old DVD player."

And used. Bought secondhand from a store who's window display should have given her a clue. Still, it worked fairly well, even if she'd had to whack it a few times in order to get it to start.

Another mental dilemma came as she approached the couch. Where should she sit? Next to him, obviously. But how close? Did he want her to sit next to him? She didn't want to make the wrong move. It had been a nice evening so far, and ruining it through making a bad assumption would not be a good thing. Still, finding his reaction might also provide another sign as to where this was going.

Therefore, she sat down next to him, her stomach twisting itself into nervous knots. Not too close in case he didn't want the contact, but close enough so that if he did she was very much within an arm's reach.

To tell the truth, Stephan was nervous. But this was about where most of his dates started, so he was slowly getting more comfortable. She seemed kind of tense, but whether that was his fault or simply the stress of being a parent and finally having time to relax, he didn't know. As the movie started, he decided to try and get her to loosen up some. "Sit back some, pretend you're jelly," he prodded, putting a hand on her shoulder, "You look like you're waiting on a bus with a bunch of creeps around." Alright, perhaps joking wasn't the best approach.

"Sorry," she said apologetically, following his advice and leaning back into the couch. She liked the touch of his hand on her shoulder, and loosened up underneath it. "I've just never done this before. Watching a movie with a guy, I mean."

She blushed a little bit, feeling silly. What had she done on those few dates that she went on while she was still in school? A couple of fast food dinners, she thought. Vague memories. Obviously nothing memorable. There had been a kiss in there somewhere, but she couldn't even remember the boy's name. It'd been so long ago.

But that didn't mean that the feelings from being around a guy weren't flaring up full force.

He couldn't help but smile when he saw her blush. She was cute when she was embarassed, or nervous, whichever it was. Time for him to be a useful male and make a move instead of just letting her sit there stewing in awkward feelings. "Here, this might be more comfortable," he offered, shifting to put one arm around her and pull her up to where she could use his shoulder as a sort of headrest.

Despite the fact that the movie had been running, Remi was hardly paying attention. At first she tensed when she was pulled toward him, but then immediately relaxed. It was...warm. Comforting. Secure. She liked it. Where had this been during all her high school and university years when there had actually been guys around?

Leaning into him to get more comfortable, she took the offered shoulder headrest. There, that was definitely better. Still, her heart was fluttering madly. This kind of thing had never happened to her. Totally inexperienced. But she liked it. All those years of saying she could live without this, but it was so nice.

"Thank you."

"No problem," he said, keeping his arm around her. Much better. Now at least if she was nervous it wasn't a lonely kind of nervous. Or something like that. Girls' shyness never really did make much sense to him. Then again, that could have been because he was a guy. Just maybe. He watched the movie attentively for a few minutes, then looked back at her, "So what made you come here?"
