it's yoshitsuna, though, isn't it? named after the guy who did the game design and programming: yoshitsuna kobayashi.
i'm not really a know-it-all though, i had to look up the guy's last name >.> the disgaea artbook told me this stuff.

I'd say....
Swords and spears are about even for me.
If I had to choose, I'd pick the sword over spears though.
I don't think I got any of the special weapons yet I haven't played enough to get them. Xp

To be entirely cruel, I'll split my love:
In Disgaea 1, the love goes straight to the axe. It might seem sort of pathetic, but trust me, the top tier ability? Yea, you can't out-perform that. Sure, it has an abysmal hit rate, but unless you're against a ninja, they can't dodge techniques, and hell, if you're using a sword against a ninja, chances are you're gonna miss anyway.
In Disgaea 2? Bow. If you've ever had a capped archery lover bow... and given it to an archer, you'd understand why. I can hit ANYTHING.
