Shindigs. Strange bit of slang Dacian had picked up, in the hopes that it would allow him to fit in beter. Unfortunatly, in many cases, the slang was out of date.

Natalie snickered. Shindigs? She'd known a guy who said that, before. Really nerdy. But then again, it fit - this was the guy who'd dressed up as a sexy flapper, remember?
"Oooo. Sounds good. I'll have to start plotting... and sewing." She sat back on her heels, finished with her plot of ground. "When should we have it, do you think? A month...?
"And I think we should have an area set aside for the children, where they can have their own costume party."

Somehow, he didn't think the guardians wanted their children to see drunken shenanigans. Or slightly tipsy ones, for that matter - because of course there would be alcohol.
Dacian pulled up the last weed from this area, setting it in the pile with the rest.

They'd actually gotten a large plot done, working like that.
"That sounds good. And I could check in every so often with them." She nodded, then began shoving the weeds in the refuse bag.
"So, are we moving on to another area, do you think?"

Dacian could always use the help. Especially when it was free help and a good conversation to accompany it. So if Natalie wanted to spend her afternoon helping him - well, he wasn't going to complain.
((Mm, if you want, we can sorta 'fast forward' through to whenever Natalie would decide to stop xD))

Her "spare time" apparently extended to nearly sunset. Her hands ached and her knees were red from kneeling all day, but the work they'd accomplished more than made up for it. Not to mention, the idle chatter about theatre, costumes, and all sorts of other things had solidified Natalie's rise in spirit.
Natalie rocked back on her heels, rubbing her hands together. "I think that's about as much as I can stand for today," she said, sheepishly. "But I think we got a lot done..."
... A lot being over half the garden. "Plus it's getting dark."

Grinning broadly at Natalie, Dacian clapped her on the back.
"Anytime you ever want to kill 'a few hours', come looking for me. I can always use an extra pair of hands."
The mage was in as good a mood as Natalie, pleased with how much they had gotten done. It would have taken a battallion of gardeners to do this much in one day, in his opinion. He'd been working it so that he got to the part that needed it the most each day, but not he could actually catch up a bit.

Natalie laughed, standing up and patting at her knees, trying to wipe away some of the dirt and mulch. "I'll remember that. But with the masquerade party to plan, and a costume to design and make... it may have to wait a while.
"But then I'll come back and work even more, to make up for my absense!" She struck a righteous pose for a moment, then dissolved back into giggles. "Or maybe just so I can do something besides sew. I love sewing to death, but it can get overwhelming.
"So... I'll see you more once I get some more finalized plans thought up? Where can I find you?"

They had actual 'names' (or letters, really) for the buildings, but he had a feeling that most of the guardians wouldn't recognize it if he said the letter instead of location.
"So if you need to contact me, you can drop a note in my mailbox - or try and locate me. I'm usually somewhere on the grounds if I'm not at home."

"Other than that... I should be getting home, getting ready for the theatre tonight. It was nice talking with you!" She waved, then trotted off, humming. Good times, good times.
But her hands were so sore...
