I know!!!
He was a boy named Shinta and his parents died of Cholera, also his Brothers were slain.
He was later made a slave...
After Hiko Seijiro saved him when the bandits attacked the group, he dug graves for everyone, especially the 3 women.
Afterwards he learned the Hiten Mitsurugi ryu with Hiko, and ran off to fight in the Revolution at age 14...
That is where The Rurouni Keshin OAV: Trust and Betrayal picks up...

Gah. I really want to have Ready Steady Go come out on the DVDs but alas only Melissa I think it is. But they are all good. If I wanted I could probably get my mom to translate them. XD My sister has the songs on CD but I like to watch all the pretty colors go by. I am really absessed with color tones in anime...@_@

Not sure if this falls under the hard core category though.

In the last OAV, Kenji is seen walking with a girl. He compliments her on her ribbon and in the course of their conversation they eventually agree to "be happy together" Give the full name of this girl.
