Asegi looked to the drab ground before nodding. He had heard stories of the pride, about the journey, about all the losses that the pride and his clan had suffered. He shook his head to clear the bad thoughts, he didn't like to think about the past much, even though he had been born after the journey. He smiled,
"Why uh... Thanks?"

"Why uh... Thanks?" The crow smiled and rolled her eyes before preening herself gently and then flying back up into the tree, smiling down at the cub. "So why where you cowering earlier before me?" The crow raised her brow slightly, as a small smile plastered her beak.

Asegi got all defensive once again,
"I was NOT cowering, I was just wondering what you were is all!"
He nodded to confirm his comment, he definately wasn't cowering, lions don't cower =, no they don't!

He nodded to confirm his comment, he definately wasn't cowering, lions don't cower =, no they don't! The crow chuckled softly to herself before looking at the cub and yawning amused at how he acted, she then hopped down once again. "So...are you the heir young one?"

Asegi looked at the crow woth wide eyes, the heir? He shrugged, he hadn't had time to worry about that just yet, he had no idea on who was to be the heir of the clan. He shook his head,
"I dunno.... How about you bird, are you the leader of your pride?"
Asegi seemed to not know anything at all about the lives of avian critters, if he had, he wouldn't have been asking such stupid questions.

Kel-chan U'yosi sighed inwardly, but smiled as Asa'nunu had acceded to his request. Also lying stertched outupon the grass, he watched his two offspring with a gentle yet tolerant smile. As dusk settled across the savannah, he shrewdly noted that the herd of impala had drifted westward since their flight from the river's edge, and he hauled himself to his feet. "Adu'ladi," he said in his deep quiet voice, "We should depart now, if you wish it. The young ones must stay here." Asa'nunu perked one ear at hearing her mate, and slowly pulled herself to all fours. To tell the truth, the fact of going on a hunt was exciting her, but her tail swaying at a steady pace behind her didn't reveal this fact. It had been so long since she'd hunted, and her body yearned to run, to feel the bones of an impala between her teeth, and the sweet blood of the preybeast on her tongue. Stretching her paws before her, she bared her teeth in the direction of the preybeast's herd.
Some stupid impala would not survive the night. With a backwards glance at U'yosi, she began to pad towards the herd, shoulders low to the tall grasses. Once closer, she would pick out a sickly or young impala, and tease it away from the herd. U'yosi would help, if he even knew how to hunt with a lioness. He'd hunted for their pride for many moons now, and she hoped he would not be too much of a burden on this hunt tonight.
She breathed deeply of the sweet night air, and of the unknowing fear of the preybeasts. Such a perfect night.

Asegi stopped his chatter with the bird as he saw his mother slip off to hunt. He grinned and padded slowly away from the crow, not even bothering to say good bye. He had wanted to wish her good luck too, but she had left too quickly. He rejoined his sister and watched his father trail after his mother. Night had fallen quicker than he had expected, Asegi liked the night, not that he was any good at hiding in it, a snow white coat never helped in hiding. He nuzzled his sister before flopping down next to her and settling down to watch the hunt. His head turned to her gently but his eyes stayed fixated on his mother who was sneaking farther and farther away.
"Say Tsi, do ya think it's hard to hunt? I mean Mom and Dad do it so well, I can taste that juicy preybeast already! Maybe we should start learning, or you at least, then you can hunt my meals down for me!"
He giggled and imagined himself as a grown lion. A big billow-y white mane surrounded his pale head. He was surrounded by all the lionesses he could think up, and his sister of coarse, life without her was unimaginable. All the lionesses hunted for him daily and he got to eat alot. Back in the real world, Asegi sat staring off into the horizon, a slight grin on his face as the pictures of his thought up future life danced in his head.

Many and the herd slowly lost their fear, heads dropping to the sweet grass as the sun touched the horizon behind them. Many looked around the savanah, her liquid brown eyes never too long in one place and always flitting to where there was motion. She saw a spot of white, but when she turned to look better at it, it was gone, though there was another spot farther away. She couldn't quite make it out and took a step forward, squinting to see better.

Loreli_Silentsong Asa'nunu perked one ear at hearing her mate, and slowly pulled herself to all fours.
U'yosi skirted around the edge of the herd, considering tactics. Normally he would act entirely upon the surprise attack and the shoosing of the weakest; but with help - with himself helping Asa'nunu, he corrected - they could surround the sickly, or maybe perhaps even two. That was how the lionesses hunted, was it not? He threw back his memory to his own clan, all now destroyed; his mother and his two aunts, acting in concert to bring the preybeasts down. Less energy expended. Shaking his shaggy head, he slunk along the ground, attempting to move the other way from his mate but also to remain downwind. He stole a glance at Asa'nunu's fearless and beautiful face; he could see she was in charge here, and he resolved to follow her lead.

Asa'nunu was able to get fairly close to the herd before they started to sniff her, as she was doing to them. Scenting two weaker impalas at the edge of herd, she burst out of the grasses, sending the preybeasts running. Both impalas she'd eyed earlier were limping behind the herd, this would be easy. Almost too easy, she thought, but thinking such things was quickly out of her head. Loping around the two preybeasts, she cut them off from the herd, and they burst towards U'yosi, in their fear not even realizing what they were heading into.
She paused, falling back slightly, seeing how her mate would handle this. A lioness would chase them back this way, until they were so flustered they wouldn't know where to turn. But that was also hunting with more lionesses, perhaps it would work with simply U'yosi and herself. Her tongue lolled from her mouth as she loped after the impala, the remembered scent of life blood teasing at her nose.

Many cried a warning as the lioness burst from the grass. The entire herd scattered a second time, giving cries of fright and warning. Many ran and nearly fell as she burst upon a pure white lion hiding in the grass. Spinning on her hocks, she dashed to the side as two weaker does tried to follow. Fear made her eyes wide, showing the whites all the way around the dark brown centers.

Her tongue lolled from her mouth as she loped after the impala, the remembered scent of life blood teasing at her nose. U'yosi tensed as his mate with the grace and ease of practice rounded the injured impala towards himself. Images flickered through his mind; he was supposed to jump on them, he thought, surprise, not chase. Keeping a low profile, he waited until the pair were almost on top of him, eying the larger. And then sprang, his dark bulk colliding with the preybeast, jaws fastened around its throat in a death grip. He did not have time to see if Asa'nunu could deal with the other; instead he hung grimly on as the beast bucked and squealed, dangerous long horns trying to gouge at the hunter beneath it. And then stilled. As it collapsed to the ground, U'yosi lifted his bloody muzzle and roared his success, as was his custom, to honour the land that allowed the kill.

Asa'nunu grimaced as he got first blood; it had been a tradition with the lionesses that whoever drew first blood got first feed, then the rest of the lionesses would fight it out over the other meat. There was no time to think as the smaller impala raced past her, heart thudding a mile an hour in fear. She snarled, bounding after it. The impala tripped on a clump of grass, sending the preybeast tumbling, and Asa'nunu wasn't far behind it. It just stared up at her, trembling in fear, as the adu'ladi pounced hard upon it, the impala's throat torn out by her fierce maw.
Roaring to the sky, she buried her muzzle in the blood, shivering with excitement. The blood tasted wonderful on her tongue, she hadn't killed in so long. Glancing up at U'yosi, she backed down from her kill, eyeing him. If he was smart he'd take first blood right. If not, she'd be on the still twitching carcass in an instant. She was starving, and the fresh blood on her nose made it no better. For now, she could care less about her cubs feeding. Asa'nunu wanted food, and now, and would fight U'yosi for it if he didn't take first blood rights soon. Her grief was forgotten in her hunger, and the young lioness didn't even realize she was living in the present.

Asegi's eyes had been following both parents in the hunt. He had stood up and was on the edge as he saw them single out and then kill the two impala, his mouth was already dripping with drool. He was so hungry and now they had some food. He turned to his sister,
"C'mon Tsi, food!"
He turned back to his parents and bounded toward them. His nose twitched as he neared the kill site, the fresh blood smelled wonderful. His paced slowed a few feet away from the impala that lay dead at his mothers paws. He sensed some tension from her and he turned to his father. He was confused on the messages he was grtting here, was he allowed to dive right in as he had in the past when his father hunted along, or did he have to wait 'till his mother had her fill? His dark eyes looked up at her and he took a step back. He loved his mother, and if she was really hungry, he'd wait untill she was done. With a big smile he sat and waited his turn.

After taking a first, vicious tear at his preybeast, U'yosi leapt over to where his mate crouched tense by the one she had brought down. He knew of the rights; but he struggled to restrain himself and did not take from the choicest part, instead ripping a piece of neck for himself, all the while growling slightly in the back of his throat. Then he returned to his own preybeast and fell upon it ravenously.
A little while later, the bloodmist starting to fall from his eyes, U'yosi raised his dark head from the kill. "Come, children!" He called roughly, finally seeing their eager eyes in front of him and knowing that they must be fed with this bountiful kill as well. He was unsure as to how Asa'nunu would dispose of hers; so he offered his preybeast first.
