He huffed back another breath, knowing what he had to do. "Sorry, babe... But this pig roast is cancelled."

Grabbing up the chain discarded on the ground, attention never paid to it, tearing off a piece. "Here I come." Running straight towards his opponent with an all-or-nothing gait, leaping over the magma, flying through the air. "Hyah!" He threw one link over his wrist and aimed to toss another over his own opponents.

Makeshift handcuffs would keep them close enough for him to avoid the burning liquid himself. The battle would end up looking a lot like that fight in the music video for Micheal Jackson's Beat It. That'd be pretty cool.

"Gah!" Kerri was suddenly caught in Gath's improvised plan of a trap. There was no way for her to have seen something so... random... coming. Jumping to her feet, the sudden adrenaline surge keeping her alive, she flung one fist at Gath. "Pervert! Let go of me! You... PIG!"

Kerri struck at Gath with her free hand as much as she could, with each strike a small explosion of fire came from her fist. Although it was not so much a concern for the fighters at the moment, as they moved the bubble of protection moved with them, pushing the lava away from them as they went, to the spectators this would be an odd sight indeed...

Quickly ducking under her flaming fists of fury, moving fast to keep the fight live and himself live too. His weapon hadn't reappeared yet, so it seemed he had nothing to slice with. Unless...

He drew one of the throwing daggers from his side, still moving to stay away from burning punches. He wondered, if the lava couldn't touch her, how come the flames on her hands could? He wished he could exploit that, but he really sorta' lacked the time. With a grin, he dove at her with the blade.

"Better a pig than a wolf." Not really, wolves totally kick pig a**. Aw, crap, he was the pig. He began to wonder if it was late to switch.

"b***h!" Kerri shouted the word loudly as Gath's knife went right by her side, slicing a shallow but bleeding cut. Kerri spit blood out, and growled furiously. "Why won't you burn?!"

Kerri yanked the wrist attached to Gath to her, trying to pull Gath closer. Holding her other fist back and wrapping it in flame again, she threw it foward in attempt to land the punch in Gath's stomach.

All the while, the Lava had never stopped filling the arena outside of the close quarters brawl. It was reaching waist high, and getting higher. Even when someone won, what price would have to be paid to get out?

His focus locked on his fist, a feeling of victory in his landed hit, but wait... He had totally forgotten about- s**t!

He skipped left, pushing the ground with his right foot. Unfortunately, even his last-second dodge was far too late to avoid that attack entirely. Flames nipped his belly, biting, seering. The pain was fresh, all he had felt so far was fatigue and exhaustion, nothing real. The bolt of regret snapped his fingers, letting go of the blade. The metal dagger fell into the burning ooze, taking it's life instaneously. If it did that to metal, what would become of him? He really didn't need to know.

The sun beat down on them, the heat from the goo was getting to him. But suddenly, a ray of light sparkled off of something nearby, a glint of hope. What was it? Still moving, he surveyed the area, his eyes falling on the culprit.

"Here comes the pain, babe!" His hand snapped forward, aiming to augment a previous blow. He reached for a shard of glass, lodged in his opponents shoulder, he aimed to lock it in further. Maybe even hit the bone, shut down that arm.

It sounded like a lot to ask from some sand and some witchcraft.

In a split second, Kerri saw Gath's attack and realized his plan, too bad it was a split second too late to stop it. As Gath's hand pushed at the shard, Kerri did the only thing she could and rolled her shoulder back. As Gath pushed at the shard, this forced it to break off, leaving the jagged piece firmly inside Kerri and causing alot of pain, but stopping the glass from doing all of it's potential damage.

"b*****d!" Kerri howled in agony. Gritting her teeth, she reared her neck back and spit a marble sized fireball at Gath's face, and with her free hand traced a line off fire into the air, which she then grabbed like a club and swung down with it. Gath would be wise to not underestimate the makeshift weapon, as it would feel as hard as metal.

"Snap... Oh!" His eyes dead-locked on that blade. His mind raced at the limited possibilites. If these chains weren't saving him from the lava, he'd be ready to break 'em. He wasn't even sure at this point. Sadly, there was no time to even let his imagination soar at non-existant possibilities. That attack was comin' fast, faster than he wanted, at least.

The flame coming right at him sparked an instant idea. A clever idea. But s**t... Could he do this?

He called back to his youth, his younger days. A memory prepared itself, materializing. He summoned up everything he remembered about it.

And then... Bam! The flame darting for him stopped, slowly at first. "Enjoy!" It began to grow, and then as quickly as it had been summoned, it burst into raindrops, splashing towards his opponents face.

He didn't know enough elementalism from his younger days, but he could turn a catalyst into something new, with just a touch of alchemy.

Kerri stared at Gath as the water got her wet. She blinked. "Are... are you serious?"

Kerri looked down at the water and frowned. "I can't believe I'm losing to this..."

All around the pair, the lava was rising above head level and light was beginning to disappear. Sparks filled the air, and Kerri provided her own light source as random explosions aimed for the constantly dodging Gath, missed over and over. "Stop moving!"

His eyes shaded over, glazed with obscurity. "Never, ever, admit you're really losing."

He was totally serious about this, even if it was totally true. When the opponent could even detect it, it became painfully obvious. Had he even realized that truth yet?

He, however, did not helpfully comply with her request. He continued to mvoe past each slice. His brain wracked with plans and ideas, ways to make this situation work for him. The lava complicated things.

(Holy s**t, I'm such a genius. This idea just hit me. Shitshitshit, I'm such a genius!)

A fiendish grin overtook his crimson lips, his eyes turned to brilliance. He had a plan. An amazing plan. A plan like no friggin' other.

"You're so screwed, baby."

Kerri cringed and planted her feet back. "I may be losing now, but that doesn't mean I'll lose the match."

Green flames took over Kerri's body, surrounding her all over. "Bring it on!"

Kerri pounced foward with renewed energy, kicking and punching at Gath.

He would never be able to focus enough to pull it off, not while dodging frantically, avoiding punch after punch. If he wanted to do this, he would need to get away, and if he did that, the lava would surely consume him. But his sensical mind, never quite as in control as it should be, came to a more logical conclusion. If he didn't get away now, the lava would pile over them, and he'd likely be locked in. If that happened, it was over for him. He would only have one shot, one chance to do it, but he was willing to take it.

He wanted to take the time to think of a back-up plan, a sneaky way to get out of the situation if something were to happen, but he lacked such time. No, he needed to try now.

This was it. "Ready or not!" He pulled a hand back, and snapped the chain with one hand, metal clinging to his fist. "Here I come!" He leaped into the air, away from her, clearing the magma. He had the time it would take for him to hit the ground to do this. Thank somebody up there that he was a good jumper.

His body glowed with a blue essence, a snaking energy which coiled around him. He focused with a glaring intent, sweating bullets all the way. Gravity was now taking its course, it was attempting to drag him down. He hit the mark between rising and falling, a neutral point of no motion. It was now or never, because he would surely die.

"What the?!" Kerri could only watch Gath jump. What was he planning? She had no idea, so she reacted the only way she could. The flames gathered around her gathered into a ball and rocketed towards Gath. She had no idea what he was doing, so she attacked blindly hoping to stop whatever it was...

The flame fizzled out before him. What had he done? A demonstration of his plan, not likely. But it was possible. The grin on his face gave an easy answer. He was really psyched about this move. It wasn't just another pawn, or a sneaky movement of the bishop. It's obvious this was a big league move. This was one of those moves where you take every single piece into account, planning each and every step. This was the move that wins the game. Whatever he was preparing, it certainly must be strong to take up three turns.

His breath grew shorter. The last bit of energy he had, the final bit of strength, it hadn't left him. He wasn't transforming into anything this time. What he was doing was a totally new move, one his opponent had never seen. Or had he?

When he changed that spitfire into droplets, that wasn't a grinning moment. It was inspiration. His lips spiked, his eyes closed.

This was a major move. This was the kind of prepared attack Larry David constructed in Seinfeld. Everything was in place to create the perfect situation. The state of the arena, broiling in lava. An earlier hint, a demonstration that he was in no way twinking. The state of the instigator, weakened but strong enough to fight. His opponent would likely survive, this fight had become epic, too intense for either to let up. However, even if he didn't win, even if massive preparation didn't even make a dent, he would finally be on the offensive.

"I hope you can swim, Kerri." That was his line?

Bam! He unleashed it, finally. After paragraph after paragraph of preamble, it finally was let loose. The spell flew from his body, released into the world. The only magic he knew, turning a flame into a drop of water. It was the same idea, but a million times greater. The levels worked, and the pieces were ready to move. "Check, baby, check." The lava bubbled, a now independant force. Our hero still continued to fall, time growing shorter. The intensity grew, the final moment drawing ever nearer. With a final push of energy, he had done all he could. His faith was placed in the energy. If it worked, he would be saved, maybe even win. But if he had screwed up, this was it. Of course, no one ever lets their own character screw it, not if they can help it.

Kablammo! The molten lava, a pool of death exploded into a force welcomed by anyone. The sea of demise shifted into a cool blue lake, crystal and pure. Waves slapped the surface, held in place by our own hero. He was no elementalist, just lucky as hell.

And with an uncharacteristic sploosh, he hit the water. The broth caressed him, saving him from death. What the ocean would do to his opponent was yet to be seen.

EDIT: I wrote that whole thing and all I got was 13 gold?

"Fu---" It was a cartoon moment really. The one where the coyote is hanging in mid air, realizing where he was and waving good-bye to the camara as he fell suddenly very quick. Kerri stared at the water for a moment, getting half a profanity out before the water on all sides suddenly caved in like the red sea on the egyptians. Kerri had an unlimited control of fire, this was true... but water was certainly a differant story.

Kerri was lost under the water. To anyone watching the water, which had become murky with the sand and glass of the arena floor, nothing could be seen of Kerri. Five seconds passed, then ten, then twenty, and nothing was happening. A full minute passed and nothing seemed to be coming.

Then... suddenly. The top of the water exploded n a geyser and Kerri came rocketing out of it, surrounded in flame. Her eyes were small fireballs in the sockets of her head. With each word she spoke, flames exploded from her mouth. Her hair blew in a non existant wind and the water below her started to boil quickly. "YOU INSIGNAFICANT LITTLE WHELP! YOU CAN NOT--- NOT... defeat... me..."

Kerri's voice faded and the fire left her all over. Hovering in the air, she breathed in and out slowly, looking in Gath's direction. "I am Kerri Tykil... daughter of Sage Tykil. I..."

Blood began to run out of all of Kerri's wounds and seeped from her mouth and even her eyes and ears. Kerri's head slacked back and she looked upwards to the sky. "I..."

Kerri sighed and a smile came over her face as she stared at the night sky above. "I always thought it would be snowing."

Kerri's arms and legs went limp. Her eyes began to close slowly and with her last breath she whispered a last sentence. "Fires of hell consume this place, and make it fit for my grave...."

Before Kerri hit the water, white fire exploded from her body. The fire burned so hot it flash boiled the entire body of water and evaporated it into steam within a few seconds. The fire hit the ground and turned what was left of the sand to glass and melted it into a liquid. The fire hit stone below that and spread all around to the arena walls melting the rock into lava in a flash. The white fire disappeared and the lava quickly cooled back to rock, though now much blacker and jagged all around. Ash, and no sand covered the arena floor now. Kerri's body which had decended slowly, touched down in the ash and she now lay on her back, her eyes were dead and half closed still staring at the sky.

Kerri was dead. The match was over.

((Good fight, congratz to the winner))

Our hero felt no jubilance, no victorious glamor. He had won, but at what cost? He had no wish to physically slay the opposing force. He had imagined them going out for drinks after being patched up. For a moment he thought they could've even been... friends.

As the foamy water splashed over him, his thoughts came together to realization. Blood mixed with the sea around him. It was almost poetic, almost. Maybe he'd forgotten there had to be a winner... He was having so much fun. This enemy was no dragon, or any other beast under the sun. When he slaid the Chimaera, he felt like a hero. But in the destruction of his sparring partner, he felt the sense of betrayal. Was this how his uncle felt when he struck down his brother? No. That was cold blood. That was the ultimate evil. He couldn't compare himself to that man, not even for a second.

This win did not make him feel strong, powerful, or any other sense of the word.

All he had done was beat up a girl.

He would contact Jello, or Moo... Someone to clean up this battlefield. Maybe even salvage something...

And as the water around him turned to air, mixing into the realm of the invisible, he felt like his fight wasn't over, like he was forgetting something. He couldn't place it, but it was something that would bond him with his new campanion forever. The only bond that could ever be forged on the battlefield.

Holding his side of the broken chains, the shackles that had held them together for a short while. "Live on, Kerri Tykil... Live on..."

(Wow... It's over... I really did forget it had to end eventually.)
