I'm a Civil Engineering Major and I hate math and science too, BECAUSE of my major which heavily concentrate in those areas.
Then why did you choose that major if it relates to subjects you don't like? o.O

It's weird though. As much as I detest math and science, I really admire people who go into it. Probably because I know I'll never be able to put up with those subjects. xd

I only started hating it because I've been exposed to so much of it. It gets tiring. I'm minoring in Asian American Studies because I wanted a class each quarter that would have essays...believe it or not, I feel like its a stress reliever.

That's good to hear. I was under the impression that people who hate reading and writing took up science, but I'm glad that's not always the case. But yeah, I get tingly when all my classes are History classes. It always helps to take a non-Major course to balance the workload.

The only thing I regret about not being a science major is I don't have a common interest with most of my friends. As they are all science majors, it's not like I can bust up a conversation about the Civil War or Vanity Fair.

I feel like I'd like enjoy something to do with literature more but as soon as I switch majors, I'll miss all the labs and analysis that has to do with Civil Engineering. So I'll never be satisfied...but I'll stick to this major, not waste any units or money, and come out of it making lots of money I hope, and on my spare time, I'll write a book.

Key words here being "not," "waste," "units," and "money." gonk

I had to switch majors, though. My year as a science major was an incredibly sad and stressful one. I wasn't challenged, motivated, or even interested. I guess my brain doesn't think like a science student should. Labs are incredibly fun, yes. I actually played with the thought of being a forensics detective for a while, just because I love DNA fingerprinting.

Yeah, I just feel really dumb all the time because whenever those other people ask questions during lecture, I'm thinking "where'd you come up with that?!" When people discuss science or math, even though its supposed to be my forte since i'm majoring in engineering, I feel like I don't know squat and sit outside the circle. Blah I hate it. I like setting up my school schedule with a little bit of Physical Fitness, a class that has something to do with literature or something, and the rest is usually stuff that has to do with my major (math/science).

I think it's really important to take classes outside of your major, otherwise a person can seriously get sick of it. For me, I'm taking Japanese as my "fun" class. I couldn't believe it either, but for a "fun" class, Japanese sure is hard!

GE's are the greatest things about college....they are there to show you a bit of everything outside your major...so quite possibly you find something else you're interested in. You learn a little bit about everything so you're well rounded as opposed to being narrow minded on one topic.

*rasies hand*

I've already got an AA from one school, and right now I'm just taking random classes at a different college, a community college in town. ^_^ Sacramento City College! My AA is from Cottey College in Nevada, MO. I dunno what I really want to major in right now besides English/Creative Writing.
