Damalis let out another humorous laugh as she watched him go cross-eyed. Not looking at the right moment, she nearly jumped up in the air when he padded at her side. Her ears perked up at his question, then grinned mischiveously [sp?] as he jumped to the edge of the shade. "Not for long!" She barked and bounded after him, kicking up ever more sand and dirt behind her.

(( Lots of sand in the air now, eh xD; ))

((Sorry hon, been busy packing, then driving halfway cross the country to visit family. I should be able to reply, but not quite as often as normal <3))

Indy laughed, taking off like a shot, zig zagging his way through the shade, trying to avoid giving her possible tagging opportunities. His zigs and zags slowed up a bit though giving her ample chance to tag him if she so choosed. Was he playing her, and wanting to get tagged, or was he truly getting tired in the heat?

That was a question only he knew the answer to...

Damalis saw the tagging opportunity instantly, though milking the moment a bit by jumping to the side, then jumping back in in an odd, twisting motion that turned her whole body in a circle. Then, with a swift move, she reached out a dusty white paw at Indy, she bearly brushed up against his flank. With a toothy grin, she darted to the edge of the shady, tail flicking wildly.

"Tag!"

(( No problem <333 ))

((My internet where I was staying at didn't work for a week, then I got caught up in puppy 'n stuff, so I didn't get a chance to post again in here. But, I'm home now <3))

Waggling his eyebrows, Indy grinned wolfishly at Dama. "Mmm I guess I'm it then. Ready or not, here I come!" With that, the young male sprung forward with renewed energy, proving that he had indeed been playing her, and sprinted towards Damalis' side of the shade. His tail streamed out behind him, his tongue lolled out, and his ears were perked up in an amusing fashion.

His reddish eyes watched her movements, watching for any tell-tale muscle tension that would betray which direction she would head next. It didn't mean he'd know which way she'd go, but he'd do his best none the less.

Damalis pounded on the ground with her front paws, rump lifted in the air and tail waving in a playful position. Running and playing in the heat was tough work and the wild dog was surely feeling the tired-ness kicking in. Though this didn't stop her from enjoying the romp to it's fullest.

With a sudden burst of energy, she jumped in the air and sprinted towards the trunk of the tree, sliding to a quick stop behind it, finding it as a nice hiding spot. Leaning her back up against the bark, she waited patiently for Indy to round the corner, hoping he would be unsuspecting enough so she would get a clear leap out at him. A flawless plot, in her mind.

With a wide grin, she waited.

Indy skidded slightly as he had to change directions on the fly. She was ahead of him, he'd lost some time while trying to change which way he was running, but he would gain on her, oh yes he would. She disappeared behind the trunk of the tree, and Indy grinned even more wolfishly. He had her now! Or, at least he was thinking he did anyway.

Slowing up slightly as he reached the tree, Indy chose to move towards the left, leaping to the side and around the tree, readying a paw to tag her. Of course, he had no clue of her plan, or even whether she was close enough to the side of the tree he'd chosen to leap from. But that was the fun in the game right? Never knowing what was next!

When Indy jumped to the side of the tree, Damalis's heart leaped, a bit surprised for a moment at how close he was when he had appeared. Squinting her eyes, she waited for a couple heartbeats... For the perfect moment...

When he was right where she wanted him, she kicked off the ground as hard as she could with strong back legs and flew in his direction, attempting to knock him off balence. In doing so, she too lost her footing and slamed her eyes shut as she rolled, landing sprawled out on the hard ground.

Shaking the dirt from her face, Damalis blinked, as if she didn't know what happened. A bit winded from the fall, she atempted to take in a deep breath of fresh air, but a sneeze came instead. Dark head flopping against the cool ground, Damalis began to chuckle without another word.

Indy was indeed caught off-guard, and off-balance as Damalis sailed through the air and knocked into him. Winded and stunned, the male wild dog sat there for a moment, blinking in a rather zombified fashion as he tried to draw a breath again.

Once he was able to draw a gasping breath, the chocolate colored male began laughing, rolling over on his back and waving all four paws in the air. "Hey now! I thought it was my turn to tag you, not the other way around!" Flopping over onto his side, his paws touched hers, but he didn't move them. He was just too tired now to move a muscle.

Sides heaved with every exausted breath as Damalis flopped her head on it's side to grin wildy at Indy. With another short laugh, she pounded her tail against the ground tiredly. "Some game, eh?" Dama nudged him lightly with a white, dirty paw and she took in a deep, refreshing breath. "Haven't done that in a while."

Feeling a pang of guilt as she noticed that her friend was as winded as she, if not more, Dama gave him a slight sympathetic look. "Sorry about that." She blinked as she felt his paws touch hers, but didn't pay much attention to it, due to her own tired state. The wild dog soaked in every second as a slight cool breeze blew through, the night was growing nearer. "Where has the day gone?"

"That....was probably the most activity I've done at this time of day, in ages." He was still gasping a little, partially from being winded, partially from laughing so hard.

"It's alright. No harm done." Indy laughed again, shaking his head and letting his own tail thump against the ground. Blinking at her comment about the day, however, Indy sat up, glancing up to the sky above them. "Wow, it's getting late isn't it? We've been running around and playing like pups for hours now, haven't we?" Chuckling, the dog flopped back onto his side. "Ah, no matter. Nothing wrong with having a bit of fun, right?"

Closing his eyes, Indy also soaked up the cool breeze, sniffing the air for anything that might be headed their way. Would be just his luck that Badiri wandered on them at that moment, wouldn't it? While he didn't smell his cousin, he did smell something else. Sitting up once again, his ears perked up, he pointed in the direction he thought the smell came from. "Water!"

"I dont remember the last time I've done that. It's been so long." She added with a giggle.

"Good, I didn't mean to wind the both of us-- Either of us, really." Following his gaze to the sky, Damalis was lost in the sky as she blinked, noticing how low the sun had became while she had been playing the day away. Head nodded at his comment, Ah the pleasure of not having anything to do during the days other then dreaming and the occasional romp with a friend. At the moment, everythink seemed as perfect as ever.

Damalis watched as Indy got up, curious to what he had smelled. Nostrils flared as she attempted to catch the scent, but failed. "Water?" She echoed, slightly confused. "What are you talking about?"
PostPosted: Tue Sep 12, 2006 10:38 am

"Bah, no apologies necessary. It's always good to get the wind knocked out of you once in a while. Reminds you you're truly alive, in case you ever get numb to the idea." His words were directed towards her, but his attention was elsewhere. Tossing his nose in the air, sniffing a bit more, the wild dog wagged his tail.

"Water. There's water nearby." Pausing a moment, he glanced to the tree, and the clouds overhead. "Hmm... the winds have shifted. Could be a rainstorm, or a sandstorm coming. Not sure which. But, it's a ways off, if it even hits here, regardless." Turnins his eyes back to her, Indy smiled. "But there's a waterhole here somewhere, or a spring. Care for a drink, madam?" Standing up, the 'gentleman' dog offered a paw, eyes shining in amusement. He was tired, but a drink of water was quite needed by now, and would be a welcome excuse to move away from this tree. He got the feeling that if he stayed in one place too long, Badiri would happen upon them, and that was something he did not want.

Nose was lifted up, tasting the some-what moist air. Damalis nodded slightly at she gazed into the distance where the dark clouds hung low in the distance. "Could be a storm..." She muttered, heart sinking as she pictured herself stuck in the middle of the rain-- Though it seemed far off, looking she would have alot of time before it came, if it was comming their way in the first place. She whispered a silent prayer that the fun wouldn't be rained out, but before she took too long lost in her thoughts, Dama shook herself out of the light trance.

Looking up with a wide grin, Damalis pulled herself to her paws slowly. "That sounds lovely." A drink did sound good, with all the excitement in the day.

Catching Dama's mutters, Indy tilted his head to the side. "Don't tell me you don't like a good rainstorm now and then." Eyeing her with a mischievous glance, the dark wild dog smirked slightly. With a wink, he struck out ahead of her, crabwalking a bit so he could make sure she would follow soon after. Secretly, he hoped the rainstorm would catch them at the waterhole he smelled fairly close by. Their fun wouldn't be dampered in the least bit. They may end up dirty, but that was half the fun. To be able to slip and slide around on the wet sandy dirt, having the cool rain to keep them from overheating, it was sure to be more fun than they'd already previously had.

With a shake of her head, Damalis sighed lightly. "Dont get me wrong, I love the rain." Which was a bit of a lie, but with a little thought, getting her fur wet seemed kind of... Nice for a change. "It's just the storm part. Ever since I was a pup... Storms of all sorts just get to me." Following a pace behind Indy, she decided to drop the subjet.

Now Dama could smell it, the scent of water was sweet and her pace quickened a bit, now nearly at her friend's side. She put on a smile as she walked quietly, thinking. Maybe staying out in the rain of once could rid her of this fear. Now more hopeful, Damalis bounded ahead and followed her nose in the direction of the wattering hole.
