Ava's diary entry; written in small, block letters
Rhia says that today is a special day for humans, or for beings that have adopted human customs. She called it Thanksgiving, and she doesn't celebrate it, but she does know it has something to do with giving thanks for certain things, or what you have and who you're with. I'm not exactly sure why she doesn't celebrate it, maybe she doesn't have anything to be thankful for? I'm sure she's thankful for Azy, and for Kenshi and me, and perhaps even Gwydion.

On that note, I haven't seen him since the... incident. I think Rhia may have said something to him about it, and he's been avoiding me because of her. I feel kind of bad, but I think it's better this way. I don't hate him, but I don't like him either; he's too mean to me.

Ava's diary entry; written in small, block letters
I went shopping today!

Rhia and Azy came along, but Kenshi stayed home. He doesn't really like going places or being with people, and he doesn't talk a whole lot. But I like him, he's nice and his mask is pretty... even if he can't take it off.

Rhia and Azy are really happy together, and when Azy isn't around Rhia reverts back to being mean and angry. Not that she isn't that way when Azy is around, it's just more subdued. They're always holding one another or holding hands or trading looks and smiles. It's really nice to see Rhia so happy, Azy is good for her I think. Neither one of them will say it, but I can tell that they love each other. I wonder if being in love is this way for a feien too. I guess it is, or close to that, Talon and Tahki must feel this way about each other to have had children. I wonder if Rhia and Azy will ever have children...

Oh! I bought Christmas presents for everyone. Well, not everyone, but presents for my friends! I also got a thank you gift for Talon, for letting me stay over at Karma's house. I dropped it off earlier, and hopefully someone will find it and take it in since he's helping Irisa with her quest. I got something for Neruo, Shalafi and Nero. Rhia got a few things for herself and Azy, and I think she may have gotten something for me that I saw and liked, but I'm not supposed to know about that. I hope everyone likes what I got them, I'm not exactly sure what any of them like, I've only seen most of them once or twice. If they don't like it, well, I can always take it back and give them something else.

I think Rhia is planning on going somewhere with Azy for Christmas and I think New Years, but she invited everyone to go if they wanted. Kenshi agreed and so did I, I'm not sure about Gwydion though. Paddy and Pyra are coming, of course, Rhia doesn't think it would be a good idea to leave them in the house alone for a week or two... they'd get into too much trouble.

I hope I'll see my friends again before we have to leave, I really want to give them their presents. I have to find something to give my family for Christmas too, that way I can drop off Berra's and Talon's off, and have Rhia drop off Tahki's and Raylan's. I'm really excited about the trip, this will be my first vacation ever!

I realize the necklaces from Moorgahaine's shop are not feien sized, but since this RP happened before I found that out I didn't see the need to go back and redo it, because everyone now knows this. ._.;

RP took place December 1st (compilation taken with permission from Youko's diary)
Ava glided towards a house rather slowly, her mind wandering every now and then before being tugged back to the present. Though her wing was almost completely better, it still gave a twinge of pain when she full opened it and it kept bringing her thoughts back to Gwydion.

She cradled a small box in her arms, the box wrapped in white tissue paper with a large silver bow on top. As she flew up to the doorbell, she struggled a moment with the box, slipping it under one arm; her black spike of hair bobbing up and down. She smiled warmly to herself as she pressed the button and heard the chiming sound inside, having found out that giving friends gifts made her exceedingly happy.

She hoped someone was home, she liked to deliver the gifts in person, but she supposed that couldn't be helped sometimes.

The person who answered the door wasn't Youko... or anyone that Ava had seen before. A pale white kitsune stood there, the girl immediately looking at feien-flying-height when she didn't see anyone right away. She was apparently used to feien coming and going, and smiled as she saw Ava there.

"Well hello!" she said jovially, standing aside so that the fairy could enter. "Are you here to see one of the feien that lives here?"

Ava blinked for a moment and then smiled, hesitantly flying into the house. She stopped just inside the door and turned to the kitsune girl, her hair once again bouncing about as she nodded.

"Yes, I came here to see Shalafi," She repositioned the box so she was holding it in both hands again. "Is he home?"

"Yes, he is," she replied, closing the door gently. "I'm Aniya... my father is bonded to the feien. I think Shalafi's in his cabinet right now... it's a bit cold in there if you're not used to it though." Aniya pointed towards a cabinet in the kitchen against one wall. The door itself seemed to have been sealed shut, but a dollhouse door had been built into the front, perfectly feien-sized.

"he's an ice feien... and there's a small aicon in there that keeps the temperature cold."

"My name is Ava, it's nice to meet you." She smiled to Aniya and then looked over at the cabinet, pursing her lips. She didn't care much for the cold...

She started in that direction before stopping a second later, turning to face the kitsune once more, "Thank you, and in case I don't see you again have a good Christmas."

She flitted towards the cabinet and landed just in front of the tiny door, shifting the package to one arm a second time. Outstretching one hand, she knocked rather loudly on it and then rocked back onto her heels.

"You too!" Aniya grinned, smiling at the little feien.

The door was solid, that much was certain. A soft voice called from inside. "Come in!"

Shalafi's cabinet was very nearly like a loft 'apartment' for a feien. The inner area was divided into two sections by a shelf that didn't quite reach out to meet hte door itself. A dollhouse staircase bridged the gap between floor and shelf. A small pixacat was on the stairs, sitting there and watching Ava carefully before being moved by the pale feien that came down to the main 'floor'. "Hello?" he called, eyes flicking randomly as he started towards the door.

Ava smiled upon seeing Shalafi, her emerald eyes quickly scanning the feien sized structure before returning to her friend. Aniya had been right, it was cold in here, and Ava steeled herself against a fit of shivers she felt coming.

"Hello, Shalafi, it's Ava." She supplied, in case he wouldn't recognize her voice. She stepped more into the room and smiled to the pixacat before returning her attention to the slightly taller feien. "How have you been?"

"Ava!" he said, grinning as he came closer. A movement at the top of the stairs became apparent then as a german shepherd Pixa came down and moved to stand beside Shalafi. There was a small wire and fabric harness around him,a nd it was obvious that Shalafi used him as a guide dog. "There's a blanket upstairs, if you're cold," he offered, then motioned towards a small couch that looked as though it had been put together by someone who had a basic concept of carpentry... but not much. "I can get it for you if you like. Most people aren't very comfortable in here."

Ava watched the dog for a moment, her eyes slightly wary. She had never seen a dog in person before, but it looked friendly enough. Her ears perked slightly and she nodded slightly, more out of habit than anything, "Please, if it's not too much trouble. It is a little cold in here. Does warm weather bother you? Aniya told me you were an ice feien."

"It can, if it gets too hot. That's why I have this room. The aicon keeps it cold for me, and I don't have to get in the freezer." Shalafi chuckled then, leading Aza towards the couch as the dog darted up the stairs and came back a moment later with a large square of fleece fabric that seemed to be cut to a feien-sized blanket.

"Warm weather doesn't bother me, it's actually cold that gets to me fairly easily." Ava wandered over to the couch after Shalafi and sat down on one side, the box resting in her lap with her arms cradling it. She smiled and tilted her head slightly as the dog retrieved the blanket.

"Your dog is very smart," She said, her fingers lightly tapping the side of the box. "I've never seen a dog our size before, he's very pretty."

"That's Sega... he helps me see." Shalafi blushed faintly, folding his wings behind him. "Blizzard does as well, she's my cat. They can both talk, so it makes it a lot easier." As Sega sat next to Ava, holding the blanket in his teeth, Shalafi tilted his head to the side at the strange sound of fingers against the box. "What's that?"

Ava gently took the blanket from Sega and patted his head, "Thank you."

She wrapped it around her wings and pulled it tight over her shoulders, bunching it in her hands just below her collarbone. She looked back over to Shalafi and then down at the box in her lap and smiled broadly, her voice taking on an exciting tone, "Oh, this is a gift for you, it's your Christmas present! I saw it and part if it reminded me of you. Would you like to open it now?" She let go of the blanket for a moment and picked up the box, holding it out to him so the bow brushed against his fingers.

"For... me?" Shalafi smiled brightly, feathers fluttering in excitement. "Oh dear, I don't have anything for you... we're going to be going holiday shopping soon, though, and I promise I'll return the favour. I'll have to find something perfect for you!" He was grinning from ear to ear as he took the box gently, his hands sliding over the outside and the bow. "I'd love to open it, if I may."

Ava smiled and folded her hands in her lap, extremely happy that Shalafi seemed excited about the gift.

"Of course you may open it. It might be a month until Christmas, but I want you to have it now." She smiled, feeling herself flush slightly at the thought of some one giving her something. "You don't have to get anything for me, it's alright, I like giving friends things."

"I know I don't have to... but I like getting people things too." He grinned then, chuckling softly. "I like hearing people smile." He carefully unwrapped the box then, reaching inside and lifting out the pendant and chain that lay inside. His eyes widened as he felt it, the gentle fingers tracing over each silver wing and the cross and serpent beneath. "It's lovely," he breathed, feeling the cool metal slide beneath his touch. "Could... you help me put it on?"

User Image

Ava beamed as he opened the gift, very grateful that he liked it, "Yes, of course I'll help you."

She stood and slowly walked over to him, picking up the clasp on the chain and undoing it before taking the ends and slipping them around his neck. She felt color rise to her cheeks at being this close to another feien that wasn't family, but she ignored the feeling and hooked the clasp behind his neck.

"It's very beautiful on you," She said and smiled, taking a step back and looking at the pendant. "It goes with you very well."

Shalaf's hand rested on it, the smile increasing as he felt the pendant resting against his skin. His gaze stayed forward, the blind feien using touch to tell exactly what the jewellery looked like. "It's wonderful... thank you so much, Ava!" He turned then, hugging her gently, his wings getting in on the act as well and wrapping around her for a moment.

Ava smiled and returned the hug, slightly - though not very - surprised that Shalafi was just as cold as the room itself. He was an ice feien, after all.

"You're welcome," She said softly. "I'm very glad you like it. The wings on it are very beautiful, they reminded me of yours."

He blushed at that, his fingers exploring the wings on the pendant as she said that. "Thank you so much. I know I can find something just perfect for you as well... I want to make you just as happy as you've made me."

Ava smiled and shook her head slightly even though he couldn't see it. Here he was not able to see, and yet he was so kind and so strong, she couldn't understand why it was so hard for her sometimes...

"You've already made me very happy, Shalafi, but if you feel you should me something I can't stop you, can I?" She laughed softly, taking his hands and giving each a friendly squeeze.

Smiling, he shook his head. "Nope. And I'm stubborn too." He was ecstatic about this, really... so THIS was what Youko had talked about when he said that Yule was a wonderful time of year. He simply HAD to make his friends this happy too!

Ava couldn't wipe the smile from her face, but she didn't really want to either. It was good to be around friends, she forgot how lonely it could be at Rhia's house, even with her bond's housemates. Being with other feien was really nice.

"I should probably be heading back soon." She said quietly, some of the happiness leaving her voice at the thought of going back home. "I told Rhia I wouldn't be gone long, and I almost got lost on the way here."

Getting to his feet, Shalafi nodded. "I don't mean to keep you if you have to leave... but you will come back to visit now that you know where I am, right?" The tone of his voice let Ava know that he was very much looking forward to another visit, if it was possible.

Ava leaned forward slightly, giving the ice feien another hug. She smiled, though it was slightly sad this time. "It's kind of funny how I feel safer at someone else's house than I do mine own."

She sighed softly, turning from Shalafi and picking up the blanket. She started to fold it and kept on talking, not giving him a chance to query that statement. "Yes, I'd very much like to come and visit you again soon. Maybe sometime in December if I'm able to?"

"Absolutely," he said softly, worried at her statement, but not willing to pry about it. There would be time for that the next they spoke. "You're welcome over here anytime you like."

She turned back to him and smiled again, a slight shiver running through her wings. "It was nice to see you, I'll drop by again soon and maybe we can chat more."

She set the blanket down on the couch and headed for the door, turning back to him for a moment before leaving, "Take care, Shalafi."

"You as well." Shalafi listened as the door opened and closed again before he lifted one hand and rested it on Sega's head. The gentle nudge from the poixa let him know that he wasn't the only one worried. He made a mental note then to find something extra-special for Ava when they went shopping... something that might make her feel better at home too.

Ava's diary entry; written in small, block letters
Boy, it's been really busy around here lately, I just wish I could fly off somewhere and have some time to myself. I can't though, because though I'm small I can help with some things.

Rhia and everyone are getting ready for the trip, which Rhia says we'll be departing on the 20th - whether everyone who's coming is ready or not. She's also picked up three more Faemice eggs! It's weird, she doesn't seem like the type who would want to take care of pets and stuff, but she certainly likes those Faemice. We'll be taking the eggs with us, but they'll probably hatch before then, so we'll have five of them to keep track of on the vacation.

Rhia is packing just about her entire wardrobe... which all fits in about two suitcases. You would not believe some of the things she calls clothes, I mean, I thought clothes were meant to cover you? Apparently not in Rhia's world, though Azy isn't complaining one bit about her choice of attire for the trip. In fact, Azy doesn't seem to be doing a whole in preparation, whereas Rhia is running all over the place to make sure she's got enough of everything for everyone. He just kind of sits back and lets her do it all, but she doesn't seem to mind his laziness. She says when it comes to doing things, he makes up for his laziness in chores with his energy in the bedroom, or wherever they happen to "get the urge". I don't really want to think about that statement, or the look she gave me along with it.

I'm all packed, but then it's not like I had a whole lot to pack in the first place. I'm bringing along Millie and Merrick also, who were gifts from Maquinar. I don't think I've mentioned them yet, but they're a dog and a mouse that are my size, which is really neat. Rhia thinks it's dumb to have pets so small, but they're not that small to me and they keep me company.

At this rate I'll have to ask if Rhia can drop off the other Christmas presents I got, which makes me kind of sad. I really wanted to deliver them in person, but since we won't be here on Christmas I'd have to wait until afterwards to give them out, and I don't really want that either. I still need to give Nero and Neruo theirs, and my entire family. I can drop of Neruo's and Nero's myself, maybe that way I'll be able to talk to them for a few minutes if they're home. Since Talon and Irisa are on a quest I'll just have to drop theirs off at their homes, but perhaps Berra will be there and I'll get to meet her. I'm really looking forward to it, because from the little bit I've heard of her she sounds really nice. I'll have Rhia drop off Tahki's and Raylan's gifts, because I think she may have gotten something for Neko, but I'm not sure. She's got a few presents to hand out herself; she got a bagful of stuff for Zarien and Mori! I also think something in there is for a girl named Sukkubus, but I don't know who that is and Rhia won't tell me anything.

I guess that's it for now, I should probably go check on the eggs. It's not like Rhia doesn't do that all throughout the day, but I like doing it too. I'll try and drop off the Christmas presents next week sometime. I really like giving people gifts, so I hope everyone likes what I got them!

Via PM from Youkochylde
A small box with a note is left on the doorstep, carefully arranged that it can't be stepped on. On the note is written Ava's name in tiny print.

Shalafi
Dear Ava,

I wish I could say that I am writing this, but alas Yeande is writing as I speak. I love the present you got me for Christmas, and I wear it every day. While I wish I could find a present that matches your beauty as well, I'm a poor candidate for judging how well an object will go with a person.

Instead, I got something that reminded me of you in a different way. When I heard this little creature, I was reminded of the soft tones of your voice and how it seemed to soothe me. That is what the sound of crickets in the garden does for me, and reminds me of the times I would sit outside and just fall asleep out there because I was so relaxed. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did when I was listening in the store.

Sincerely,
Shalafi

I godmodded Azy for this one scene, because I got permission from him. I love you, Azy! <3

Ava flew down the staircase, heading towards the kitchen. She had just put the cricket in the room she and Kenshi shared upstairs, and was in a very good mood. She had read the letter at least a dozen times, and she loved the little creature that now sat upon the desk in its cage. Though she wasn't sure what crickets ate, obviously it had to eat something, she should probably ask Rhia.

She turned the corner into the kitchen to find Rhia sitting on top of the counter, her legs wrapped around Azy's waist and his mouth glued to her neck. The multiply pierced woman blinked from behind her sunglasses and poked the demon in the ribs, who lazily lifted his golden eyes to hers and then followed her gaze as she inclined her head towards the feien. He grinned and straightened up, taking a step away from Rhia and allowing her to slide off the counter.

"Hallo, 'shroom." He purred in his usual soft, lazy voice. "Did you want something to eat?"

"No, I'm fine." She landed on the table and folded her hands behind her back, slightly embarrassed at finding Rhia and Azy in that situation... though it had happened before. "The present was from Shalafi, remember him?"

"Yes, I do. It was nice of him to give you something," Rhia said, her arm slipping around Azy's waist as he nuzzled her neck. "Did he like his gift? I don't think I asked you about that."

"Yes, he liked it." Ava smiled at the memory of her visit to his home, and hoped she'd be able to thank him in person for the gift. Something dawned on her then, and she blinked her crisp eyes. "Why aren't you packing?"

Rhia and Azy exchanged a glance and he shrugged, his fingers trailing over her tail before he grinned seductively at her. Rhia's body tensed slightly and she cleared her throat; her tail jerking away from his wandering hand. "We... uhh, we decided we might put off the vacation until the 24th."

"Oh," Ava reached up and played with her cowlick for a moment, "That's Christmas eve."

"Yeah, we're still not too sure about putting it off though."

"Any reason for considering to put it off until then?"

"Nah, we just figured we might need more time to decide on a good place to go." Azy replied, causing Rhia to snort softly as she finally took his hands in hers, realizing he wasn't going to stop fooling around, even in front of Ava.

"Honestly, Azy," She hissed at him, though a grin graced her dark lips. She edged towards the doorway that led to the hall, intent on heading up to her room with the red haired man in tow.

"If you're going to wait until Christmas eve, why don't you just wait until the day after Christmas?" Ava queried before they disappeared from sight.

"I suppose we could do that, and we might end up doing that if we can't decide on where to go, but I for one would still like to leave on the 20th." She gave Azy a pointed stare, and he smiled innocently.

"Hawaii is a wonderful vacation spot, especially since it's so cold here."

"Everyone goes to Hawaii for their vacation, I want to go somewhere else."

"That's not fair," He feigned a pout. "I want to see you in a bikini, of the g-string variety."

"You see me naked every morning and now you're saying you 'want to see me in a bikini, of the g-string variety'." Rhia's words held a mocking tone, but also an exceptional amount of compassion. Azy grinned and took the lead then, pulling her along by one hand and up the stairs.

"Have fun." Ava called after them, a rather awkward smile on her face at having been witness to that. The way those two act sometimes, you'd think they were the children in the household. Or at least hormone driven teenagers. The earth feien didn't mind though, they loved each other and deserved to be happy and spend time together. She frowned slightly, for the first time wondering if she would ever find someone like that...

I realize the necklaces from Moorgahaine's shop are not feien sized, but since this RP happened before I found that out I didn't see the need to go back and redo it, because everyone now knows this. ._.;

RP took place December 18th
It took the orange Feien much longer than he had anticipated to reach Rhia's house. He had gotten some direction from the shop itself. He figured he'd be there an hour ago, but he underestimated his growths effect on his speed. There was no change. Shrugging midair, he finally happened upon the house. It would be wonderful to see Ava again. He wondered what she'd been up to since they last spoke.

Floating up to the window, he stuck his head in. Without being too rude, he called out, "Knock knock! Ava? Are you available?"

Smiling to himself, he decided to sit on the windowsill, just outside of the house itself. He wondered about her reaction to seeing his growth. If he sat down, did he seem much taller?

Ava was sitting in the living room with Rhia, going through a few vacation brochures and seeming to be more than a little bored. But she didn't want to be rude or get Rhia mad, so she helped her bond as best she could at choosing the location they would be spending Christmas. The earth feien found it slightly amusing that Rhia and Azy still hadn't agreed on a place to go when they were leaving in only five days, but she figured this is how it was between them with a lot of things.

And as long as Gwydion wasn't going to be there, she didn't really care where they ended up.

Rhia's large ears flicked back and forth, the earrings jingling against one another and she raised her hand; absently jabbing her thumb towards the kitchen. "Someone is calling for you, Mushroom, you better go see who."

Ava blinked a few times and frowned as she stood, taking to the air and flying towards the kitchen. She hadn't heard anyone, but then again, her bond's hearing was extremely good. As she entered the kitchen, she looked around and then veered towards the window when she didn't see anyone. Landing on the small sill just inside, she poked her head out and looked around; cowlick bobbing.

"Neruo?" She queried when she spotted a bright orange feien sitting just outside. Her face instantly lit up in a smile and she slipped outside, starting over to him before halting mid stride. Her eyes narrowed before widening and she stood stock still, realizing that it was her friend, only not as she remembered him...

"Ava! Wonderful to see you again!" he said, arms wide and inviting. He stood up, his full eight inches of height towering over her. Oops. Bad idea. He rubbed the back of his neck, embarrassed, and knelt in front of her. He felt so...cumbersome.

"Ava, would you mind if I hugged you? I hope I didn't scare you. I grew the other day. Instantly. I'm still getting used to it. What do you think?"

He wanted to wait to hug her. Instead, he watched her, half-hoping she approved. Whether or not she did, he was stuck this way. Not that he minded too much. The height was nice, despite still bumping into things. Everything got easier as the days went on. He tried to hide the tiny burlap bag he carried with him. Inside it was a surprise present, but she seemed too shocked at the moment. Best to wait.

The smile that had only a moment ago lit her features and caused her emerald eyes to twinkle was now gone, replaced by a look of utter confusion and perhaps a slight hint of horror. When her friend stood, her eyes - already huge within her face - widened further and she took a tiny step backwards. His words seemed to do little for her other than cause her eyes to shrink down to fit the rest of features.

He was still Neruo, still her friend, he had just grown up. He was still the same, no matter how tall he got or how old he became...

"You... you're tall," She managed after a moment, her voice betraying nothing. "Congratulations on growing up."

She didn't really know what else to say to him... what was there to say? She swallowed hard and hesitantly stepped up to him, raising her arms slightly to allow him to hug her. She didn't exactly feel comfortable in hugging someone so much bigger than her, but he was her friend, why was it so hard for her to remember that?

Neruo hugged her gently, feeling a pang of guilt in his chest. Why was she so afraid? He didnt remember doing anything to harm her. He would never do that to anyone, regardless.

"Ava, I... Did I scare you? Are you alright?" he asked, worried. This was the first negative reaction he had gotten on his growth thus far. Perhaps growing up wasn't such a good thing after all?

He was determined to make her feel better. Reaching back behind him and into the sack, he pulled out a panda plush toy for her. He hoped she'd like it, but he wasn't sure about her tastes.

"I brought this for you." he said, handing it to her carefully.

User Image

"No, no, I'm alright. Only it's... I was just surprised to see you grown up, that's all." She gave him a small, uncertain smile as he drew back and extracted something from the pouch he had. Her crisp eyes watched as he took the small, plush object and handed it to her.

She smiled softly as she ran her hand over the bear's stomach, for a moment the shock of seeing Neruo grown had passing. She looked back up at him and her smile faltered somewhat, but not completely. She should have expected this, of course, everyone grew up eventually. But still...

"Thank you, I like it very much." She blinked a few times and held it to her chest, happier over the fact that he had thought of her than of the actual gift she had just received. "I got something for you as well, wait here and I'll go get it."

She turned and ducked back into the house, only to emerge a few moments later with a small box wrapped in white tissue paper; a bright orange bow resting on top. She smiled and handed it to him, much more at ease than she initially had been. "Here. I know it's early, but I won't be here in a few days. Merry Christmas, Neruo."

User Image

"Oh...my....thank you, Ava! It's wonderful!" he said as he threw the necklace around his neck. It sparkled with a radiance that was never seen in his household. He hadn't much thought of jewelry, but he was very pleased with it. Ava was a very thoughtful girl.

"I'm glad you like it. I was worried when you looked...scared. I didn't mean to frighten you at all. You know that, yes?" Ava was like a sister to him. Any thought of her being hurt in any way made him feel guilty. He wanted to spoil her rotten, until she was beaming with happiness again.

Letting the subject drop from his mind, he sat down again. "Tell me," he asked, "what have you been up to? I haven't seen you in so long. How's the artistry?"

Ava smiled again, glad that he liked his gift. She hadn't been too sure if her friends would like the gifts she got them - necklaces didn't seem to be a very "manly" thing. But Shalafi had liked his, and Neruo liked his as well, which made her grateful that she had picked out a good gift for each of them.

"I haven't really had time to draw anything lately," She commented, deciding to leave the 'how are you' query he made alone for now. That's all she needed, to blurt out something stupid about Gwydion and get others worried. She had already done that with Talon, and almost did the same thing with Shalafi, that was partly the reason she had left so suddenly, she had wanted to tell the ice feien. Just like she wanted to tell Neruo too, anyone really.

Preferring to stand at the moment, her ears drooped slightly, but she didn't say anything about it. Even sitting he was as tall as she was, if not more so. Size shouldn't really make a whole lot of difference, but for some reason it did. At least to her.

"How have you been? Good, I hope?"

Neruo tilted his head. "Have you been busy?" he asked. Well, obviously, since she hadn't the time to draw. But, what had she been up to? They had only met once or twice, but he considered her a good friend, just as he did many Feien he'd met.

He nodded, more to himself than anyone else. "I've been good. Getting used to my height. Reading more, mostly. Still haven't learned anything new, but I don't mind much anymore. As long as I can help people, it doesn't matter to me what powers I have and don't have." That was what he concluded. Perhaps sometime he'd invite her over to spend time with him? He'd like her to meet his family.

His gray eyes watched her, a bit worried. "Are you alright? You look...sad."

Ava's wings twitched a bit and she pursed her lips together, but she managed a small smile, "I feel the same way, I guess, all I want is for everyone I know to be happy."

Her crisp eyes flicked over to him for a moment before she looked out into the forest that surrounded them. Trees weren't all that interesting to her, of course, she had spent her entire life (which at the moment was very short) amongst them.

She was just avoiding eye contact.

"I guess I've just been helping too hard, maybe. Rhia and Azy are taking me, Kenshi and Rhia's Faemice on a trip somewhere, and I guess I feel bad that I cant help a whole lot." Even to her own ears that sounded slightly fake. She wasn't a good liar, simply because she hated lying, but she didn't want anyone to worry about her. Everything was fine now, she hadn't been seriously hurt and Talon had healed her. If she got hurt again she could just go see him and everything would be fine. It was probably wrong of her to always run to her father when she needed something, but some things she couldn't handle on her own.

Gwydion was one of them.

"Are you going to celebrate Christmas at your home?" She said softly, again trying to steer the focal point of the conversation away from herself.

Neruo sighed. As non-observant as he was, he could tell she was hiding something from him. For now, he'd indulge her.

"Yes, we'll be celebrating Christmas. We've got the tree set up, and we've all been doing our own Christmas shopping..."

Now, this is what bugged him. He thought of himself as open, friendly, and easy to turn to. But perhaps others did not feel the same way. Lu, his Bond, hated talking about anything relating to herself, save for things that made her happy. Perhaps Ava was the same way. But he disliked the practice, mostly because it was more self-destructive than anything else.

Sighing again, he gently took her chin with his index finger and thumb. He wanted to speak to her directly, about whatever it was that bothered her. His face projected a look of please speak to me. He hoped that would work. He was worried about her.

"Ava, tell me what's bothering you. I just want to help."

For a long moment Ava was silent, and though her face was turned towards him her gaze still refused to meet his. Her hands curled into fists at her side, and she suddenly wished she hadnt left the stuffed panda sitting on the counter in the kitchen. She wanted something to hug, to hold and snuggle close to, as childish as that sounded.

And that's when it hit her.

Her emerald eyes widened slightly as she gazed at something unseen on the sill below them, and her wings gave away the small tremor that passed through her body. She was a child. Of course she had always known this, but that was what was now different between her and the orange feien at her side. Perhaps it wasn't such a big change for him, but it certainly was for her. He was like a superior to her now, not an equal. Still a friend, but in a different way than he had been when they were both kids...

She could tell him, she knew that now. Just like she told Talon, and just like she hadn't told Shalafi. Children didn't need to be burdened with other children's problems, they should be able to live happily, without having to worry about their friends. And though adults should have those same privileges, it was different somehow, they could accept others problems and understand when they couldn't help.

"Rhia has allowed a young man to stay with us," She said, her voice at first almost inaudible, but as she talked it gained strength. "His name is Gwydion, and I didn't really like him from the beginning. Maybe he knew that and that's why he's so mean to me, I'm not sure. He's a vampire, and even Azy says that he shouldn't be hanging around, but Rhia won't listen. She says he's special or something like that, she says he needs someone to teach him things. Rhia is normally home before it gets dark, because she knows he doesn't like me and is mean, but one time when she and Azy were out they stayed out past dark and woke up. It was awhile ago, I don't remember when exactly, sometime last month. But he said that he was going to tear my wings off, and he actually started to... but I got away and I went straight to Dad's house. I was bleeding a lot and I got scraped a few times on my way over there, but I finally got there and he healed me. I didn't tell anyone about it because I knew everything was okay and I didn't want to worry people because it was pointless for them to worry because I was fine and nothing happened to me."

Ava blinked a few times, sucking in a deep lungful of air. She had been rambling and her words had run together, but it felt kind of good to let someone else know what she had been through. The tip of her tongue poked out at the corner of her mouth and she was surprised when she tasted salt. Reaching up with one hand, she brushed her fingers across her cheek and realized that she had started to cry. She looked back over to Neruo with a slightly bewildered look on her face, her teary eyes wide. Her lower lip trembled slightly and she shook her head, her voice turning slightly hoarse as a few more tears fell, "I'm... I'm sorry... I didn't mean to start crying..."

Suddenly, he felt like a parent. Or, at least, an older brother. Patting her head and drawing her into another hug, he attempted to soothe her. He was glad that she had opened up to him. She looked as if she was relieved, which was his primary concern at first. Now, though, he felt obligated to ensure her safety, however that was to be done. He smoothed her hair and wiped away her tears with his fingers.

Poor thing. She seemed to feel the need to be strong, yet carefree. She already was very strong, but maybe she didn't see that. Wrapping a wing around her, he smiled.

"It's okay, Ava. I am worried, though, about this Gwydion guy. I hear garlic works, but Rhia should be taking better care of you."

Turning his head to look down at her, he said, "It's good to hear that your father helped you, too. It's not weak to turn to others, especially family, for help." Again, he felt like an older brother. But it was a good feeling. He liked it. "I want you to know that you are always welcome to come to me, if you need me."

Mature as he tried to be, he too was susceptible to the whims of childhood. He wasn't embarrassed about it, either. Wanting nothing more than to cheer her up, he chuckled. "Would you like to play a game? Something to take your mind off of things?"

Ava literally clung to Neruo for a moment, extremely grateful for contact from someone her size. It was really rare that she got to talk to another feien, and she found she felt the safest and the happiest when she was with her own. At least she was hysterical, like she had been with Talon. Or close anyway. She sniffled softly and blinked a few times as he wiped her tears away, her body stiffening slightly as he spoke.

"It's not Rhia's fault, she does the best she can." The smaller feien said, always quick to jump to her bond's defense, even if perhaps Rhia could do a better job. "She tries, but it's hard for her. She's been through a lot and she's been around a long, long time. She can't always be there for my problems when she has so many of her own. And I know I'm always welcome at your house, thank you for that, and I'm sorry I haven't visited." She let go of him and sat down at his side, finally content to be about half his height. Reaching up and gently toying with her spike of hair, she turned her bright eyes up to his and drew her brows together in a light frown.

"A game? What kind of game?" The tears in her eyes were now gone, and her face glowed with curiosity. She had never played a game before, of any kind actually, and though she was rather mature for her age, she couldn't help but run countless images through her head about what sort of game the heat feien had in mind.

Smiling, he was very glad she felt better. It was good for him as well to be around other Feien. He felt more at home, even though he was taller than most of them. To him, though, it was the psyche that mattered, not the body.

"You're very strong, Ava." he said quietly. "I'm glad."

At the mention of a game, his heart warmed when her eyes lit up. A wonderful response. Well, now he had to think of something she may like. Hide and seek, perhaps? He was slow as a snail, so maybe that wasn't best. Oh! Lu had played some sort of game involving a net. What was it called again?

"Ava, do you have a small, slightly soft ball? We could play this game my Bond has played before. I believe it was called 'volleyball'. We'd need something of a net for it... That's about the only thing I could think of, unless you have video games around here. Lu has a great deal of them."

Ava's nose crinkled up slightly and her brows drew together at the game he had suggested. What on Gaia was a volleyball?

"Well," She said after a moment, getting up and absently brushing off her rear, "Rhia doesn't have any video games that I know of. She does have a little handheld thing, a Gameboy I think, but she gave it to Kenshi because he seems to love it. There might be a ball in the house, but I'm not sure if there are any our size. And Rhia has some... umm, cheese cloth I think it's called. That could be used as a net I guess."

She frowned at him, a very grave look on her face as her wings fidgeted and she said, "What's volleyball? I've never heard of that game before."

In reality, she didn't really care what game they played, she just wanted to play. Playing was something she had done the bare minimum of in her life, and that depressed her somewhat. She had always heard that playing was something children did a lot of, and here she was - four days short of being three months old - and she had played not a single game in her entire life.

Neruo was a bit embarrassed. He'd have to remember everything properly. Even if he didn't get all the rules right, he was sure theyd have a wonderful time. Taking up the burlap bag, he folded it to demonstrate.

"Volleyball," he explained, hoping memory served, "involves volleying, or hitting, a ball over a net. I've seen my Bond do it a few times. She says she isn't good, but she did say that there were different ways to hit it over the net."

Taking his hands into the fist and turning his arms over to the tender side, he showed her how one hit worked. "You hit the ball with the backs of your arms. The softer side. It looks like it hurts to me, but I suppose any sort of hit that gets the ball over the net is fine. I'm not really a stickler for rules."

He patted her on the head. "Any soft ball will work. And just for fun, well hit it however we please. And no points, if that's alright with you. It would just be for fun."

Ava smiled; a wide beaming grin that spread across her face and made her bright eyes sparkle. Though she had only genuinely smiled this way once or twice before, no one could say that it didn't suit the tiny feien.

"I'll go see if I can find a ball, and get the net." She took to the air; being faster in flight than she was on foot - though only marginally so. She slipped into the kitchen and blinked a few times before dipping towards a drawer and struggling to open it. Being rather strong, she managed it open it enough to where she could squeeze in, locate the cheesecloth and then get back out again without being stuck. It was a rather large square, but they could fold it up if need be. Now for a ball...

Ava hovered in the air a moment, the white fabric bundled in her arms and hanging down past her feet, and tried to think of something that could be used in a game of feien volleyball. Something soft and small. Wracking her brain, she couldn't think of anything and felt slightly disappointed. She was about to head back out and tell Neruo when she noted a box sitting on the far counter. Her earlier grin came back and she flew over to it, landing on one of the flaps and setting the cloth down. She reached in, rummaged around a bit, and then pulled out part of a strand of silvery colored balls. The balls on the garland weren't very soft, but they weren't rock hard either and were a good size to hit back and forth over a net, so they would probably work. She wasn't sure what color volleyballs were, but she didn't think it mattered in this case. She tugged and strained for a second, but was finally able to snap the string and pull one of them free. Rhia wouldn't mind.

She hoped...

Wrapping the ball in the cloth so she wouldn't drop it, Ava picked up the bundle and once more took flight, heading towards the opposite end of the kitchen and squeezing out the open window to rejoin her friend on the sill. She held up the cheesecloth and the ball wrapped within it and gave him a serious look, "This was all I could find, it might not be what you were thinking of though."

Clapping, Neruo commended the tiny Feien's efforts. "Excellent. I couldn't have done better myself. And don't worry about getting everything perfect. A volleyball is much larger than the both of us combined."

Neruo took the cheesecloth from Ava, patting her on the head. Floating as slowly in the air as a snail crawls across the ground, he wrapped the cheesecloth about two candlesticks set up on the table nearby. This would serve as a net.

And the ball would be perfect as well. "Not too heavy or solid at all. Well done, Ava."

Taking his place on the furthest side of the net, he called to her. "Would you like to serve, I mean, hit first, or would you like me to?"

Ava followed Neruo to the table on the porch and landed silently onto the ground, watching as he set up the cheesecloth between the two candlesticks. It was probably fairly mundane to most, but Ava had never seen something like this before and for a moment she wasn't sure what exactly it was he was doing.

She was about to comment on this when he positioned himself on the opposite side of the net and called to her. Blinking a few times, she realized (basically) how the game was played and at first felt that maybe this game wasn't the best her friend could have chosen to play.

"You start." She called to him, hoping it wasn't as hard as she thought it looked. She was pretty slow though, so she didn't really see how she would be able to play a game like this. Though Neruo said he was slow as well, so maybe it wasn't that hard?

Neruo nodded, waiting for her to get ready. He knew he was slower than any other Feien, so it wouldn't take effort on her part at all to beat him. Bu that didn't bother him in the least bit.

Raising the garland ball a ways above his head, he volleyed it with only enough force to send it gently sailing over the net. Not too high, either. This was to be fun, not challenging. He knew she would do well.

"All you have to do is hit it back and forth. If you become bored, I'm sure we could think of something else."

Though Neruo's words calmed her somewhat, the sight of a shiny ball roughly the size of her head flying at her didn't do anything to help settle her nerves. A small squeak issued from her and her emerald eyes widened as she hurried over to where the ball finished its arch and started to drop. Folding her hands like Neruo had done earlier, she cringed slightly and smacked the ball as it reached about shoulder level and watched it sail back into the air.

...And in the opposite direction of the net.

Having never hit a ball like that before, she had swung her arms up too high and caused it to fly over her head and drop out of sight over the edge of the table. She whirled around and stood still for a moment, blinking at where she had lost sight of the silver orb, as if staring hard enough would make it come back to her.

"Umm..." She turned back to her friend and felt her cheeks flush slightly, a nervous laugh rising from her chest. "Sorry about that... I should probably go find the ball, huh?"

Neruo smiled, chuckling. She really was a sweet little thing. "Don't worry about hitting it in the wrong direction. I've done that too, and I accidentally knocked over a few things in the process. At least we're outside, where we can't break anything."

Floating up to the top of the net, he looked down over the table. Not far enough. He couldn't see the ball. Shrugging, he offered to go get the ball himself.

"It's okay, Ava. I can go down there, if you like."

She was quicker than he, but still. He felt like being extra nice to her today.

Ava smiled and shook her head, "No, it's alright. I was the one that hit it, so I should go get it."

She turned away from him and spread her wings, hopping off the table and slowly floating down to the porch floorboards in search of the ball. Upon landing, she didn't see the ball right away and walked under the table to look around for it. She cringed slightly as she noted a spider web underneath the table and set her eyes to the floor again, looking for the silver decoration they had been using in their game. Or had tried to use.

"I don't see-- oh wait, I've got it!" She hurried over to one of the table legs and scooped up the ball, flapping her wings and soaring up to the table top once more. As she landed she held the ball out in front of her, "Should I try to hit it first this time or would you like to?"

Floating back down to his original position, he contemplated. "How's about you try again. And don't worry about hitting it too hard. I can always go after it myself. I don't mind at all."

Smiling, he took the stance that he had always seen his Bond use when playing this game. He felt a little ackward, if not dorky, but at least it served a comedic purpose.

"Say, Ava, did you say you were going somewhere soon?" he asked, absentmindedly.

Ava reached up and gently tugged on her ear, a trait she had unconsciously picked up from Rhia, and took a couple steps back from the net. She made sure she was in about the same position Neruo had been in when he served, and rolled the ball in her small hands a moment before getting ready to serve it.

"Yes, my bond and her mate are taking me and the others on a vacation. I thought we were leaving on the 20th, but we might not leave until after Christmas now." She paused a moment to toss the ball a little ways into the air before hitting it over the net, perhaps too high and too far, but at least it was in the right direction this time. "I don't know if I'll like going though, because there probably won't be any other feien there. But I don't want to stay with Gwydion..."

It was a little high, even for him, but he thought it would be amusing to try and reach it standing on his toes. Barely grazing it with his fingertips, it rolled onto his other open palm. More of less pushing it back over the net, it sailed slowly through the air. He tried to remember how to 'bump' the ball. His Bond showed him that once.

"If you don't think you'll like it, and you don't want to stay here, why not stay with me? Lu wouldn't mind at all. You're polite and well-behaved. She'd love you."

Ava took a few steps to the left and positioned herself under the ball, her brows drawing together in concentration. At the net this time, make it go at the net. She lifted both hands in front of her face and placed on one top of the other, closing her eyes and gently bouncing the ball back over the net. It sailed over the net perfectly, though the opposite end from which Neruo stood. At least it was on his side, whether making a beeline at him or not.

"I don't know if Rhia would like that, I would, but I think she wants me to come with."

Well, the ball was sailing the other direction. Although he was one of the slowest Feien one earth, he had a height advantage. Stretching out his arm, he barely nicked the ball. It took a few tries and a little bit of comedic flailing, but the ball did get back over the net. Smiling, he decided to stand in the middle of his side of the field instead.

"Well, if you have to go, I want you to try and have a good time. Nothing beats a positive attitude, even when you dislike your company."

Ava watched the ball for a moment and then blinked at Neruo. Her mouth twitched for a moment and then she looked slightly chagrined, "I like Rhia and Azy, and Kenshi too. I just wanted to spend my first Christmas at--"

She let out a soft wailing sound and hurried over to where the ball was closing the gap between itself and the ground. Being more than a little clumsy, she stumbled and fell; the ball smacking her in the chest and then was slammed between the small feien's body and the wooden table.

The earth feien rolled over onto her back and lay there a moment, the wind having been knocked out of her; her emerald eyes staring unfocused up at the porch ceiling. She blinked a few times and inhaled deeply, sitting up and shaking her head. Her wings fluttered a bit and she reached over, pulling the undamaged ball to her chest and smiling over to Neruo to show him that she was okay. "...Oops."

Still concerned despite her appearance, Neruo floated over to her. He offered a hand to help her stand up. Glancing over her quickly to make sure she didn't sustain any real injuries, he sighed. He was very glad she was alright.

"Well, it's good to hear that you like your Bond and the others that live in the house." He paused, thinking. "Where did you say you wanted to spend your first Christmas? This'll be my first Christmas as well, so I may need some ideas in case my family wants to go somewhere."

He chuckled, messing with his hair. "My apologies if I'm prying or rambling on."

Ava accepted the hand he offered to her and stood up, absently brushing off her rear after letting go. She kept the ball tucked under one arm, though she was beginning to dislike the inanimate object with a passion.

"I thought it would be nice to spend my first Christmas here, at home," She replied, gently tugging on one of her pointed ears. "That way I could maybe visit my friends afterwards, I don't have very many and I dont get to see them a whole lot."

The small feien's face saddened for a moment before she shook her head gently and once again smiled up at Neruo, her wings folding in against her back. "Do you want to try playing again?"

Neruo chuckled quietly and placed a gentle hand on her head, messing up her hair. She was like a little sister to him, and he would do anything in his power to protect her. Though, he thought, since she is Talon's daughter, she'd probably be able to protect herself.

"I'll be spending Christmas here, too. You're always welcome at my home, so feel free to drop by, if you wish."

He folded his own wings against his back before replying to her question. "I'll play again, if you wish. Unless you want to do something else."

Ava smiled for a moment and then shrugged her shoulders lightly, her wings rising and falling with the gesture as she rolled the ball slowly between her hands. "I don't care either, we can try something else if you'd like."

Her ears drooped slightly and she glanced back at the open kitchen window, but didn't seem too bothered by whatever it was she was thinking about. "Perhaps I'll drop by after New Years. Rhia is intending on having the vacation last until after then."

He shrugged. He really didn't care either way, but it didn't seem like either of them were about to make a decision.

"After New Years? Oh, yes, humans have parties then, don't they? To celebrate the upcoming year? Maybe we could have a party like that when you get back?"

Ava nodded, "Yes, they celebrate New Years too. Though I think the Japanese celebrate it later on than people do here in the US."

The small feien blinked and looked back towards the open window, a small frown forming on her lips. "I guess maybe I should get back inside now, I was helping Rhia when she heard you call me."

She turned back to Neruo, again a little disheartened at how tall he was compared to her, but she smiled. "I wouldn't want to make her angry."

Neruo smiled, patting her on the head lovingly. "It's alright. I apologize for distracting you from helping your Bond. But I had a great time, Ava. I hope can come visit you sometime in the near future."

With a bow as elegant as he could muster, he took to the air to slowly float back home. Over his shoulder, he waved to her. He truly did have a good time, but now he was curious to see what his Bond would concoct in celebration of the new year.

"Goodbye, Ava! I'll see you again soon!"

Ava smiled and nodded, her wings opening slightly as she watched Neruo fly off, "Goodbye, Neruo, have a good holiday!"

Once he was out of sight she flapped her wings and flew back towards the open window, ball in hand, to help her bond with the last few things that needed to be done before they went on their trip.

Ava's diary entry; written in small, block letters
Tomorrow Rhia, Azy, Kenshi and I leave for our vacation. I'm really excited, but also a little sad that I won't be spending Christmas here at home. But I guess as long as I'm with Rhia and the other people I care about live with, it'll be fine.

I had to cross that part out, because there are other people I care about that I'll be away from for Christmas, so it didn't really make sense to put that.

Rhia decided to leave the Faemice at home, because she said there are too many of them to keep track of on a vacation. She has a friend who will come over and take care of them, and make sure Gwydion doesn't burn the house down or something. Her friend, Zarien, will also be taking care of my pixapets. I'm kind of worried about leaving them, because they're so small compared to everything else, but if Rhia trusts Zarien enough to leave her Faemice (she's very attached to them) with him, then I trust him enough to have him care for my pixapets.

Neruo came over yesterday and gave me a present, it's a panda plushie and I really like it. I gave him his necklace and he seemed to like it, even if it's too big for him. I suppose next time I'll have to get everyone's Christmas gifts early, so I have time to find something special to give them. I wasn't able to deliver Tahki's and Raylan's gifts to them in person, Rhia did that last night and only just told me this morning. I feel bad, I should really talk to Rhia and have her take me to visit them. I also wasn't able to drop off Irisa's, Talon's or Berra's presents at all, so perhaps when we return from wherever it is we're going (Rhia still hasn't told me) I'll be able to take their gifts over, and then maybe I can drop by Neko's house afterwards.

I should probably go help, at the moment Rhia and Kenshi are making sure the house is "Faemice proof". I'm not exactly sure what the means, other than taking all breakables off shelves, plugging up all electrical outlets, and locking all the cupboards. I figure all it really means is that she's making the house completely safe to leave the Faemice in.

I'm going to leave the diary here at home, and write in it when we get back. I'm sure I'll love our trip, wherever it is we're going. I'm really going to miss my friends and family, but I won't be gone that long, and hopefully I'll be able to see them soon after I return.

RP took place December 20th (compilation taken with permission from Karma's diary)
Rhia walked down one of the many streets of Venice, her sleek, black dress actually covering more skin than was showing for once. It was dark, at there were no people where she was at the moment, which was exactly how she liked it. Perched on her shoulder was Ava, her spike of hair bobbing as her bond walked and her emerald eyes taking everything in that they could without causing her to become dizzy. It was the first time she had ever been out of state before, let along the country, and this place was very beautiful in her eyes.

"I like it here." The small feien replied after a moment of silence, "But why didn't Azy come with us?"

"He was 'tired'." Rhia stated absentmindedly, a small grin playing across her lips. "But I think he was just too lazy. Being tired and being lazy are two different things, you know."

Ava regarded the demoness for a moment and then smiled warmly, "You love him, don't you."

Caught off guard, Rhia blinked from behind her sunglasses and looked over at the small creature sitting on her shoulder. She looked away after a moment and fixed her eyes on a semi large fountain up ahead, "Yes."

"Why don't you ever tell him?" Ava queried, not wanting to push her bond but curious enough to see if Rhia would say more about her feelings.

"Because... in his eyes I don't think saying that would be a very good thing. He's not one for commitment, and neither am I really. I look at love, or at least expressing this feeling, as a sort of commitment, and if he does too, well... he may not stick around."

Ava's ears drooped slightly at the tone of Rhia's voice, and she fell silent as they neared the fountain; her bond's heeled shoes making soft, clacking noises against the ground. This was about the most Rhia had ever revealed of herself to the feien, and though she was grateful, she was also sad because it hadn't exactly been happy news. And love was supposed to be a happy thing, wasn't it?

Talon, unaware that Rhia and his youngest daughter were nearby, crouched in one of the ornamental fountains in one of Venice's squares beneath one of the water spouts. He'd been waiting all day for a chance to clean the shell of grime off of himself and, despite the fact the fountain water was bitterly cold, it felt heavenly. And it was CLEAN.

When he was satisfied that he was more-or-less clean again, he hovered up onto the lip of the fountain, giving himself a shake to rid himself of the freezing droplets clung to his flesh. At least he was awake again, he thought, trying to see a bright side to things.

Looking sidelong at the approaching figure, he narrowed his eyes in suspicion and moved to take wing and hide himself amid the fountain statues so he wouldn't be seen. And he would have done just that had he not noticed the flash of red and white on the figure's shoulder. A rather familiar flash of red and white at that....

But....that was impossible. There was no way....!! He blinked and, for a moment, wasn't sure HOW to react as he stood dumbfounded on the lip of the fountain.

Rhia was the first to notice a small figure standing on the fountain's edge, and she narrowed her eyes at it. Her first guess would have been a fairy of some sort, but the wings didn't sit well with that assumption. She shrugged her shoulder lightly to get Ava's attention and then inclined her head towards the fountain.

"Is that a feien?" The woman asked, her brows knitting together.

Ava blinked a few times and whirled her head to where Rhia had indicated, her own eyes narrowing. It was a feien! Here, in Venice! Or at least something close to a feien. Excitement bubbled up inside her for a moment at the thought of meeting a feien from another country, and she was about to take flight when she froze; the wide grin on her face slowly dissolving as they drew nearer. Even though it was rather dark, he looked almost frighteningly familiar, and yet Ava couldn't quite place him.

Or perhaps she knew, but was just denying the truth.

"Hey there," Rhia called out as they drew within a few feet of the fountain's sole occupant. Ava, her throat tight beyond belief, couldn't utter a single sound as she continued to stare at the other feien with big, round eyes.

Talon backed off a step, his attention on Rhia distracted at best. His eyes were on the small shape on her shoulder. As they drew nearer he became more and more certain of who it was until, when the moonlight had caught the cowlick on her head, there was no denying it further.

"Ava?" he asked, sounding a bit incredulous, despite his certainty it was, indeed, her. What was she doing so far away from home? He nearly took to the air to approach her and then, suddenly, was jarred into reality.

Oh gods, last time she'd seen him had been before he'd merged....and Avangelyne was so skittish as it was. Irisa had accepted him with barely a bat of an eye, but Ava wasn't that way....not in the least. Biting his lip, he suddenly clapped his wings over himself in a white cocoon. This....was bad timing.

Rhia, having never seen Talon before and therefore not realizing it was him, arched a brow at the single word he spat out, which happened to be her feien's name. She gave Ava a sideways glance and wondered how on earth her small, innocent friend knew this... odd looking creature.

Ava on the other hand, took the word as if it were a knife in her chest. She uttered a loud, choking sound that perhaps could have passed as a word in some alien language. She didn't recognize the body... no, the body was so... so strange, at least what she had seen of it. Frightening, in fact - had those been horns? But the voice, oh gods, the voice...

The small feien seemed to shrink in on herself, her huge eyes only growing wider as her hands came up in front of her in a sort of helpless manner. No... no, it couldn't be. It wasn't, it wasn't!

"Talon?" She choked out after a moment, her voice so strained that she realized he might not have heard her. Her bond frowned at the situation, but made no comment as she watched Ava struggle for a moment before trying again, her voice sounding extremely small and fragile, just as she now looked, "Daddy?"

Talon peered out from between his wings and then, realizing the damage had been done already, sighed and slowly folded his wings back onto his shoulders, looking up to her apologetically. Apologetic for what, he wasn't sure....he'd done this FOR his family. He'd never have been interested in the first place if it weren't for the fact it had made him strong enough to handle whatever was thrown at him or any of them.

"Its me, Ava." he confirmed, his voice quiet, and as gentle as he could get it. For the moment, he didn't care about Rhia being there and couldn't afford being aloof in her presense with Ava in the state she was in. "I--I only -look- different. I promise you." he said, for what that was worth.

He remained where he was, watching her carefully and waiting to see what she would do next, not wanting to force anything. He realized, with an inward curse, whatever ground he had gained with her was likely lost and he would have to start all over again...if she would let him, at least.

"Uhn..." Was the only sound that came out of the earth feien's open mouth, and she slowly started to shake her head. Her wings drew closer to her body and she blinked back the tears that were forming in her eyes. No... he lied, this... this THING was lying! He wasn't her dad, he couldn't be!

"No." She said, her voice only slightly louder and her head continuing its monotonic, back and forth movements. She suddenly wished she wasn't here, that she was back home, home where her friends and family were. Then she'd be able to show this feien that he wasn't her dad, she'd be able to go to Karma's and see Talon and he would hold her and everything would be alright...

"No," She said again, though this time it held no conviction. She knew he was telling the truth, somehow she knew, and no matter how many times she denied it or didn't want it to be this way, it wasn't going to change. She looked up to his horns and the cowlick that sat on his head, now golden and so alien compared to hers. Large, glistening tears slid down her cheeks and her head finally came to a stop as she sobbed once, softly, "Daddy..."

Talon squeezed his eyes shut and looked away from her, stinging from what appeared to be rejection on her part. When Yeande and he had discussed merging, he'd asked about downsides and she had presented him with none. Both of their minds had been more on a physical track than on an emotional one and, sadly, what the changes might do to others' opinion of him didn't matter at the time. He'd simply assumed they would adjust.

Maybe he HAD been too quick to agree. But....Irisa had approved, just as Yeande had approved....

"I'm sorry, Ava." he sighed, reaching up to rub at the back of his neck. Maybe if he explained himself.... "I wanted to make sure that I would be strong enough to protect you. You and everybody else I care for, I mean." He turned three-quarters away from her, unable to fully turn his back, so that he was looking out into the water of the fountain, his white wings splayed slightly, hiding his changes from her so she would only hear his voice.

"I went to visit one of the ancients, Julius, and he merged me with the stone of one of his former friends. That's why I look this way now...I had no idea it would change me so much and..." he paused, shaking his head slightly, his green-tipped large ears wilting. For the first time since he'd merged, pinned under Ava's tearful eyes, Talon truly felt like a freak in his new body.

Ava's lower lip trembled as she listened to Talon, feeling a sharp stab of pain in her chest as he turned away from her. He couldn't even look at her now? Or was that her fault as well? She hadn't meant to react this way, but it was so hard for her to accept changes, at least changes like this. First Neruo, now her own father...

Ava looked up to Rhia, not knowing what to do and too afraid to say anything else. Her bond gave her a look that said 'you know what you should do', and the feien's ears drooped slightly. He was her father, and no matter how he looked on the outside, he would always love her, and she would always love him. Appearances didn't mean anything; just like with Neruo, she had to look past his outward... features.

She sniffled softly and wiped the tears from her face, trying hard not to let anymore spill forth. Spreading her wings, she took to the air and slowly headed towards Talon as he stood on the fountain's lip, his face turned away from her. Rhia smiled at the courage Ava was showing, no matter how small it was. She knew this must be hard for her, since she had taken Neruo's growing badly as well, this change in her Talon must be extremely scary for her. The demoness silently turned away from them and slowly started across the square, giving the two time to work it out.

Ava landed just behind Talon on the fountain, and for a moment felt the compulsion to turn and flee, but she pushed it away. This was her father, as long as she remembered that it didn't matter what he looked like. She reached forward with a shaky hand and placed her fingertips onto the outside of his wing, not knowing what to say other than what she was feeling the most at that moment, "I... I still love you, daddy. I'll always love you."

The wing tensed just a little under her touch, though it wasn't out of revulsion or anger. He merely was surprised she'd even come near him. The way she had been looking at him from Rhia's shoulder, he'd have counted himself lucky if he would be able to get within throwing distance of her after this.

He turned slowly, not making any sudden moves as he looked down at her. He still towered over her, just not quite as much as he once did. For all of his changes, his countenance appeared anything but threatening at the moment. He was tired from travelling, he was frazzled at his lack of success in locating Irisa, and this had clearly been the killing blow, so to speak.

"I love you too, Ava." he told her quietly. He nearly reached for her, wanting things to go back to how they'd been like the night she'd come to him after the incident with Gwydion. Thankfully, he quickly rethought that notion -- not so much because he felt it would be too forward, but there was still the matter of his fingers. The horns and coloration were offputting enough but...the misplaced digits were disturbing on a deeper level.

"And I wish we could have seen each other under better circumstances than this to tell you about it. I didn't mean to scare you, that's the last thing I wanted to do." There was a pause as he allowed himself another inward kick for not being more careful with things and not having looked at everything as thoroughly as he'd thought beforehand. "....but like I said, nothing else has changed. And that includes my caring about you."

In the darkness, his newly-amber eyes glistened, seeming to emit a soft glow, perhaps with tears that he was keeping tempered back from falling.

Ava swallowed hard at the sight of his new additions up close, but refused to recoil from him. His ears, his hair, the horns on his head, his wings... even his skin color was different, nothing looked like it had before. She squeezed her lips together tightly, causing them to become an almost gruesome looking slash across her pale face as she studied him. Even his eyes were different. His eyes hadn't even stayed the same! They were yellow, no longer green, no longer like hers...

This caused a fresh wave of tears to build up in her eyes, but this time she didn't let them fall. It wasn't his fault, she understood why he had done it. None of this was his fault. If only she could be stronger, if not for her sake than for her father's at least...

"You don't have to explain it to me, you can do what you want. I don't even see you enough for it to matter all that much, right?" Her lower lip quivered for a moment, as if she might burst into tears, but she inhaled deeply and continued, "I... I understand why you did this, you don't have to explain it to me."

She lowered her gaze from his for a moment, momentarily at a loss for words. What else could she say? It's not like he needed her approval before he did things, and she was right, they rarely saw each other as it was, this wouldn't really change anything in the long run. She looked back up at him, looking on the verge of tears once more, "I didn't mean to hurt you... when I saw you just now. I didn't mean to cry, it just happened. I'm sorry..."

"But it -does- matter." he insisted, his voice sounding a bit sullen. "Ava, you're my daughter and what you think of me is one of the few opinions I care about." Had this been anyone other than one of his kids giving him this reaction, he wouldn't have given a good god damn. He would have told them to get over it and walked way...but that was not an option here.

He held her gaze for a long moment before gently breaking it to look down at the concrete beneath them. "If you'd like to know the truth, I nearly cried when I saw myself too." he told her. "Its a big change, Ava, I wouldn't expect you to just be all right with it....and I know that you aren't."

As much as the little red and white juvenile tried to suppress it, he could see see that she was a whisper away from bursting into tears. And that all of this was very reluctant....perhaps not the fact she still loved him, but the fact that she looked very much like she wanted to run screaming from him.

"I'm not going to force you to be okay with it and I don't want you to force yourself either...its all right to be afraid of me right now." he continued with a deep sigh. As far as brooding and blowing things out of proportion, it seemed Ava had inherited that much from him. They were a regular dueling banjos of angst at the moment. "....I just don't want you to stay that way." Another pause. "And I want to tell you, that night you came to see me after....after your incident. I've never felt more aware of how much I care about all four of you kids and how much it would kill me if something irrepairable happened to one of you."

Ava looked away from him and into the water in the fountain, knowing he was telling the truth. He did care about what she thought, but if he cared so much why hadn't he come to her before he did this? Why do it and then run away, without even telling her, not even with a two sentence note?

She blinked a few times and drew her arms around herself, squeezing tightly when she realized a good amount of anger had coiled itself around her gut. Where the anger came from and who exactly it was directed at, she had no idea, and that scared her. But the anger wasn't the worst of it, not by a long shot, the worst was this... hole inside of her. It was slowly replacing the sadness and confusion she felt about all this, and though there was nothing inside of it, she somehow could still feel it there. That scared her as well, this hollow thing eating up the other emotions she was feeling, leaving her feel drained and tired. She suddenly wished that she could just go away. Anywhere, as long as no one and nothing was there with her... just somewhere where she could sit and be alone, without having to worry about Rhia not caring for her right or growing friends or her father merging or Gwydion tearing her wings off. Just... her and nothing else.

"I..." She trailed off, not exactly sure what she was going to say in the first place. On retrospect, she didn't want to be left alone. She didn't want to leave Neruo or Shalafi or Talon (though perhaps Gwydion she could do without). "I wish things didn't have to be this way, but I really do understand that things need to... change and grow."

She turned her crisp eyes back up to Talon's face and a small, hesitant smile graced her lips. She took a step forward and wrapped her arms around his waist, just as she had done the first time she hugged him, and nuzzled her face against his stomach. "It doesn't matter that you've changed, you're still my dad, and I'm not afraid. Not anymore."

Talon, after the exchange they'd just had, felt as though he was unworthy of such quick acceptance from her, but never the less, reciprocated the hug, ears folded back and eyes closed. He really needed to be more careful....his own trust was a fragile and hard-won thing, who was he to assume that it might not be the same way for others?

As though reading her mind from earlier, as they embraced, he spoke again. "I wish I'd had a chance to pull everyone together and warn them before this happened, but Irisa didn't give me much notice about this quest of hers...." He looked up then, cracking his eyes open as though the black-and-white girl may have appeared while they spoke. Alas, no luck.

"She told me we were leaving in a day, and I'd had the stone for months after trying to work up the nerve to use it. That was the nudge I needed, I guess." He shook his head faintly "And now -she's- run off for parts unknown too. I'm hoping to catch up with her in Rome, but that's hoping for a lot, if my luck is becoming a trend..."

Really, what -were- the odds of looking for one daughter lost in a foreign country and finding another? He could almost hear the Gilligan's Island theme playing from the heavens above in regards to his life.

Ava, her small arms still around Talon's waist, looked up at him curiously. She had forgotten all about the quest Irisa was on, which was completely stupid of her considering that was the whole reason her father was here in the first place. She understood everything he was saying, and did feel better to an extent, but the empty feeling was still there inside of her...

"You came here by yourself and not with Irisa?" She asked, trying to ignore the feeling for now. It would go away soon, it had to. Her shock at seeing Neruo grown up had dissapated quickly, and this feeling would too. She drew away from him slightly and glanced around, noting for the first time that Rhia had left. Pressing her lips together, she wondered where her bond had gotten off to and when she was coming back. The earth feien didn't exactly want to be left alone in a place she didn't know when Talon left.

"How is Irisa doing? Or at least, last time you saw her. And the others, Berra and Tahki and Raylan, how are they doing?" She had had more contact with her father than anyone else, save for Neruo, but she was still curious to know how her family was doing.

"I came here by myself because I'm trying to -find- Irisa, actually..." he explained, a little loathe to feel her pull away but letting her go without protest. He couldn't have expected it to be that easy, now could he? She'd understood, she hadn't run from him, that was a damn good start....he ought to have considered himself lucky.

"She got separated from us in England. I don't know why she left, she didn't say, and I'm hoping it wasn't due to anything beyond her control." he was reluctant to say what he was thinking....that she'd been abducted. He didn't -know- that for a fact, and telling Ava it was a possibility wasn't going to help matters much.

He lowered himself to sit on the edge of the fountain then, looking to her as he did so. "Last I saw of Irisa, she was doing well....Berra still hadn't come home yet when I left, and as for your mother and Raylan....I'm afraid I haven't seen them lately." He decided that, here too, he would spare the details. He didn't know if Ava even knew her mother or how close they were if she did, but the merging was going to be the only shock he inflicted on her tonight if he could help it. They could discuss his and Tahki's current standing with one another another time.

Ava nodded slightly, trying not to think too much about the things he had said. She hoped that Tahki and Raylan were doing well, but what stuck the most was what Talon has said about Irisa. Like a big, bright neon sign, 'due to anything beyond her control' flashed in her brain over and over again. She clenched her jaw for a moment, her wings fidgeting, and she finally gave in to the small p***k of curiosity about what Talon thought of her sister's disappearing act.

"Do you think something happened to Irisa?" She queried softly, remaining standing at the moment so she was at least his height for a little. Everyone she had met so far was taller than her, and though she didn't really mind, she felt extremely small to even those who were only marginally bigger than her. She reached up and gently tugged on her ear, afraid that she already knew what he was thinking but wanting him to tell her anyway.

He looked out at the rippling water for a moment and then back to her, eye-level in their current position. "She left in a very big hurry, Ava, and it wasn't at all like her. I don't want to jump to any conclusions, but it worries me badly. If she -is- in trouble, I'm sure she's handling it the best she can and, for the moment, I'm following a gut feeling that she may have gone ahead to Rome ahead of us since she never came back to the motel room."

He hesitated and then reluctantly added "...I don't know whether I'm right or not, but I really have nothing else I can do except sit somewhere and do nothing, and that's one thing I won't do."

Ava nodded again, feeling slightly helpless even though nothing that had happened was her fault or anything she had been previously involved in. She liked Irisa greatly, and it hurt to think of her in danger or somewhere she didn't want to be. She briefly thought of Gwydion and shuddered slightly, hoping her sister would never have to go through anything remotely close to what the vampire had put her through.

"I hope she's alright," She said after a moment, her fingers fiddling with one another nervously. "You should go to Rome as soon as you can then, even if she isn't in danger she may need your help with something. And she shouldn't be by herself, no one should."

He nodded in agreement with this. "I'll be on my way there once I'm done here. I had a run-in with the canal and needed a quick bath before I could do anything else." He offered Ava a thin smile...it was the same one he'd always sported, merged or not, and he tried to look reassuring. "I'll find her, though. I'm not leaving this rock until I do."

And he didn't intend to. He CAME here with Irisa and Hadrian, he would damn well be LEAVING here with Irisa and Hadrian.

Realizing he hadn't asked, he cocked his head just slightly at his youngest daughter. "We both know why I'm here, what brings you here?"

Ava suddenly looked slightly chagrined as he questioned about why she was here, a drastic change from the countenance she had sported only a moment ago. She dipped her toe into the water and inhaled sharply and the coldness of it before supplying him with an answer. "Rhia and Azy thought it would be a good idea to go on a vacation for Christmas and New Years, and they told me about it only a week or so before leaving. Then they couldn't make up their mind on where to go until the last minute."

The small feien huffed slightly, the spike of hair on her head waving as she shook her head. "They act really... amorous, ALL the time basically, and it annoys me."

She decided to keep the exact reasoning as to why it annoyed her to herself for now, because in all honestly, even she wasn't really sure why it annoyed her like it did. She suddenly looked up, something dawning on her face and her mouth made a large 'O' shape before she turned to him again, "I brought a Christmas present for you with me. I forgot about it until now, but Rhia said that it wasn't a good idea to leave it at home with Gwydion because he might ruin it. It's in the hotel we're staying in though, I don't have it with me."

If being amourous annoyed her, that was all the more reason for Talon not to tell her anything further about his situation with Tahki and Yeande. Much like her, he didn't quite understand it either. When it came down to it, he and Ava had a lot in common personality-wise....if he could have somehow gone back in time and talked to himself when he was a juvenile, he wondered if it wouldn't be a little like this.

At the mention of a Christmas gift, he blinked twice in surprise. He'd sent each of his kids a gift from the pixa shop, but hadn't expected it to be reciprocated. His ears perked a bit, pleased that she'd cared enough to do so. "That's all right." he assured her. "Maybe another time, then?" It was just as well....he didn't know how he would carry it around with him even if she'd had it with her.

"It's not very big, but I guess it would be cumbersome to be hauling it around with you while you search for Irisa," She said, as if she had unknowingly read what he had been thinking, "I got a present for Irisa too, and Berra, Tahki and Raylan. Rhia dropped Tahki's and Raylan's off at their home before we left though, and I was hoping to give Berra hers in person but that didn't happen. I'll have to try again when I get back."

She looked over at him again, abruptly changing the subject as she frowned slightly, "When are you leaving for Rome?"

"I imagine as soon as I'm done talking to you." he told her with a slight shrug. Five or ten minutes to talk to her wasn't going to make or break things. Either Irisa was in Rome, or she wasn't. And if she wasn't, he'd cross that bridge when he came to it. He suddenly smiled at her, this one with a little more warmth behind it than the first.

Oddly enough, her show of annoyance, being flustered, being frightened, and being distrustful had put him on more common ground with her than he'd felt with the other three. And the way they seemed to know what the other was thinking just by listening and watching confirmed it. He loved all four of them, but Ava was, so far, the only one he'd felt a deep-seated kindred spirit click with. "Thank you very much for tolerating me like this. I know this was a hell of a way to run into each other again."

Ava blinked for a moment before returning his smile with one of her own. It was still a little hard to look at him without feeling some trepidation, but she knew that would pass soon enough. She was just glad she got to talk to him again; it made this trip worth it.

"It's easy to tolerate things from someone when you love them. Besides, you're my dad, and whether I like it or not, we'll probably see alot of each other after this vacation and quest stuff is over with." The last statement held a teasing note, something that was out of character for her, and her bright eyes sparkled dully. She sobered up quickly though, and gave him a small shrug, not really wanting to part ways but knowing that they couldn't sit here and talk for hours on end, like she wanted them to. "I guess you should get going soon, and I have to go find Rhia anyway."

"I guess I should..." he said grudgingly, moving to stand. He didn't especially want to, but it had to be done. Ava was here with her bond and was safe...Irisa wasn't. Stretching a bit to pop his back, he looked about them, finding that they were quite alone and quirked a brow in disapproval.

"Where -is- Rhia?" he wondered aloud. Surely she didn't expect Ava to wander the streets of a strange place trying to find her...the last thing he needed was -two- children claimed by this blasted country.

"I'm right here." Came a voice from one of the streets leading away from the square. A moment later Rhia emerged, the orange glow of a cigarette lighting her features slightly. She took it from her mouth and blew smoke towards the sky, the thumb of her free hand absently running over the piercings in her lower lip before it flicked one of her large, floppy ears. "All you had to do was say my name and I'd come a'runnin'."

Ava grinned slightly at the sarcasm in her bond's voice and leaned over towards Talon slightly, her voice soft, "She does that alot, but she's actually pretty nice... sometimes."

"My ears aren't big and ugly for no reason, Mushroom." The demoness commented, the feathers on her wings ruffling slightly. Ava smiled a little sheepishly to Rhia, embarrassed at the use of that nickname in front of her father. She looked back up at Talon and nodded a little, "I'll miss you, and I hope I see you again soon."

"I'll miss you too, Ava. I'll talk to you as soon as I can." he told her, nodding back, his eyes gentle. "Take care of yourself."

Giving a brief respectful nod to Rhia, mostly out of relief that she'd shown up at a good time and given them their space beforehand, Talon backed off a few paces and then took wing into the air, his slight frame and white wings visible only for a brief amount of time before the shadows of late evening swallowed him entirely.

Rhia's long ears flicked irritably as she lay on the couch in her living room, her long legs draped over one arm with her feet dangling above the floor. It didn't take a psychic to see that she was in a bad mood. And she had every right to be, she (along with the others) had been called home from her vacation early, and this was the first vacation she had been on in a very, very long time. Not to mention Ava's and Kenshi's first vacation, and Azy's... well, she wasn't exactly sure if Azy ever considered anything a vacation.

"He better get here soon," She muttered angrily, running a hand through her hair. "And he better have a damn good explanation for this too."

Ava sat on the coffee table, her legs folded and her arms crossed. She looked a little upset at Rhia's current mood, but she wasn't going to say anything about it. Let Zarien take the brunt of this.

Zarien slowly walked up the steps onto the porch, his tattooed face drawn with apprehension. She wouldn't like this. Not at all, but she was the only one he could turn to with this. If not her, then who?

"Come on," He said to the shorter figure that stood behind him, "She's home."

The seaborn stepped up to the door, the figure right on his heels, and he sighed; raising a dark hand and knocking on the door.

Rhia was on her feet in the blink of an eye, a soft growl coming from the back of her throat. That had to be him, and she already felt her anger growing. But she had to at least give him some leeway, perhaps something bad really had happened.

As she left the living room to get the door, Ava took to the air and headed up the stairs. She would rather be sitting quietly with Kenshi than sitting down here listening to her bond yell.

When Rhia opened the door, she would have started yelling at him right then and there, but her slitted eyes caught sight of the young man behind her friend. No more than five-foot-five in height, he was wearing an odd outfit made of some sort of leather; his hair two different colors of blue and his eyes a bright green. The strangest thing about him though was the fact that he had two... antlers growing on his head.

The demoness quirked a brow and, in typical Rhia fashion, spoke, "What the hell is that?"

Zarien cleared his throat, noting that raindrops had started to pelt the roof of the porch in a tuneless song. He glanced back at the boy, who gave him a look that clearly said 'I don't know about this' and then he sighed again.

She had to make everything so hard?

"Can we come in, Rhia?" He asked when he turned to face her again.

Rhia noted the grim expression on Zarien's face and suddenly realized she knew what was coming. She held back the snort and the '******** you' comment that made her tongue itch to say it. Perhaps she was wrong, maybe this was something entirely different.

And maybe she and Azruael would live happily ever after.

Grudgingly, and after a few seconds of indecision, she stepped aside and opened the door wider for them to enter.

Zarien gave her a small smile, realizing just how upset she really was. He looked back at the strange boy and inclined his head, "Let's go."

He slipped inside, past Rhia, and all but shuffled down the hall and into the living room. The antlered boy followed, his crisp green eyes giving Rhia a curious backward glance before he joined the seaborn.

"You can sit if you want." Zarien said quietly, motioning towards the love seat and the couch. The boy, who actually looked to be around fifteen or sixteen, sat down on the edge of the love seat as they both waited for Rhia.

Rhia watched the two, one taller than her and one shorter, walk down the hall and into the living room. Her eyes narrowed slightly as the boy followed Zarien and she spotted a brown tail poking out of his pants, a tail like a... deer's tail?

A small grin threatened to show itself and she gently bit down on her pierced lower lip, closing the door. So that was why he had antlers, he was a morph perhaps? A deer morph, that peeked her interest slightly, seeing as she had met mainly dog, fox and cat morphs before.

When she walked down the hall and entered the living room, she crossed her arms under her breasts and leaned against a wall; studying the boy across the room. Getting straight to the point, she tilted her head and looked at Zarien. "How long do you want me to look after him?"

Zarien visibly started at this question. He hadn't realized she would figure it out so quickly, but then again, she was far from stupid. He turned and looked at her closely, choosing his words carefully.

"You don't mind looking out for him for a little while?" He asked, tempted to smile, but keeping his face slack.

"Do I have a choice?" She asked back, not without some bitterness at having her vacation ruined for this. He was cute, with that little tail twitching and the blue hair and green eyes, but she already had so damn many things to take care of...

Zarien sighed softly and finally sat down on the couch.

"You always have a choice, Rhia. I just didn't know who else to take him to and he really does need to be looked after." Zarien brushed a hand through his hair. "I just thought, since you really are good with maternal stuff, you wouldn't mind."

Rhia blinked a few times. Maternal. Yeah right. And yes, she did have a choice. She could just kick both their asses out into the rain, but seeing the boy sitting there on her love seat gave her a sick feeling in her heart. And Zarien knew this would happen, that's why the b*****d had brought the boy in the first place. He knew she wouldn't be able to say no if she saw him and knew he had nowhere else to go.

"Can't you handle him?"

Zarien looked away from her when she asked that, his hands fidgeting with one another. "I probably could." He admitted quietly, "But I'm really, really bad at the whole parenting thing."

He looked over at her and shrugged, the hope he had for her taking the boy apparent on his dark face.

It was Rhia's turn to sigh as she looked at her friend. She straightened up from the wall and walked towards the coffee table, though she didn't sit down just yet.

"How does he feel about this?" She turned her gaze from the half god to the deer boy and raised an eyebrow.

"My name is Alexei, ma'am." He spoke up for the first time, inclining is head slightly as he did so. "I don't want to be a burden for you."

Zarien raised his eyebrows slightly and tilted his head back, seeming to say 'this'll be fun' in a sarcastic manner. "It's okay, Alexei, if she says she'll look after you, you won't be a burden to her."

Rhia's bi-colored wings ruffled slightly, her annoyed expression changing considerably. "Alexei, that's a nice name. You think you can give my friend and I a minute or two or privacy?"

Alexei nodded silently and rose, his tail fluttering behind him as he headed out of the living and for the porch to wait for them.

Zarien shifted a little uneasily as Alexei left, not exactly sure if being alone with Rhia was a good thing at this exact moment.

"Rhia, you don't have to take him in. It is your choice, I can find someone else."

Rhia sighed tiredly and slipped her thumb and index finger under her sunglasses to pinch the bridge of her nose.

"I don't think you fully understand my reasoning, Zarien." She looked up at him and adjusted her sunglasses before lowering her hand and stepping over to the couch. She sat next to him and pulled her legs up under her body and faced his slightly. But she wasn't going to give the information without some sort of push.

Zarien seemed to sense this, whether through their bond or simply because she could be very readable when she wanted to be. He reached over and took her hands in his own, gently caressing the backs of them with his thumbs.

"What is it?" He asked softly, wanting to know since he could obviously see it bothered her, but not going to prod her if she didn't want to tell him.

Rhia didn't need to be asked more than once, because she did want Zarien to take Alexei somewhere else, but she also in a way already wanted him to stay with her.

"I have Ava and Kenshi, and Gwydion and the Faemice, there are so many things living here already, Zarien." She sighed softly, staring at her tanned hands enclosed within his darker, tattooed ones. "What happens if I have a child? I won't have enough time for it, because I have all these others to care for..."

Zarien's azure eyes widened slightly and he nearly choked, the realization of what Rhia had been thinking this whole time hitting him with the force of a sledgehammer to the chest.

Oh gods...

"But..." Zarien's mind worked for a moment and he licked his lips, trying to figure out what to say without really telling the truth. "Az doesn't want children, and you already have a lot of things to take care of, like you said, now isn't exactly the time to be thinking about getting pregnant."

Rhia looked slightly chagrined at this statement and for a moment it seemed she might sigh dramatically and roll her eyes, but she merely said, "I know Azy doesn't want kids, but honestly Zarien, what are the chances of us staying together for any length of time?"

She surprised and hurt herself by saying this out loud, but it's how she truly felt she supposed. She was thinking long term here, something she had never done with Azy, and something she probably never would do with him. She continued, though her voice was softer now and taking on a saddened air, "I don't want him to leave, gods no, but sooner or later I believe he'll get bored and take off. What then? I'm not going to sit on my a** and be alone for the rest of my life when it happens."

Her wings shifted on her back and she looked over at him, a warm smile touching her dark lips as she shook her head slightly, "I want children, Zarien, simple as that. I ******** up with Su, big time, and I want another chance. I know I can do better..."

Zarien felt his stomach drop at Rhia's words and the sound of her voice. Gods, why did this have to happen to her? And why did he have to be the one to tell her?

"Rhia," He said, his voice extremely low and riddled with pain for his friend. "I... I don't know how to say this any other way than just to say it outright. Do you remember what I told you about my mother? She never does anything without gaining something herself? or taking something away."

He shook his head as he looked at her, knowing this would crush her and helpless to do anything about it. "Rhia, you... can't have children. That was the price she set for bringing you back, that's what she took from you... you can't..."

Rhia frowned at first, wondering why he would bring up the sea goddess when she knew for a fact that he hated talking about her. As he continued though, something clicked inside her and the smile left her face. Even before he said it she knew, somehow she knew.

Dear... gods...

Her first reaction was to laugh. He was joking. It was a joke. But when he finished and just sat there - gods, don't look at me like that! Please! - waiting for her to say something, she knew. She knew?

The demoness's hands jerked out of his own very quickly, and she realized her breathing was slowly coming in faster. Crying. Oh gods... she was going to cry?

No... no. She would not cry!

"You..." Her voice came out in a strangled whisper and she suddenly found herself bitterly mad. Angry. More than that, she was furious. ******** eyes started to glow a bright crimson behind her sunglasses and she couldn't even speak, she was so angry. So she did the only other thing she could do at times when her anger was this consuming. After all, he was the one who had demanded that Shallahar being her back to life.

She raised her right hand and slapped him across his face, hard, creating a loud clapping sound. She slapped him a second time and continued to slap him without pause, just as hard as the first time, all the while letting out soft, explosive sobs, though her eyes were dry.

The slap caught him off guard and shocked him so badly that he couldn't even think of a single thing to do. The force of the first blow caused his head to snap to the side, the gods-awful stinging in his face only intensifying as she slapped him again.

By the forth slap he realized she wasn't going to stop on her own, so he finally reached up and grasped her wrist. Being exceedingly stronger than she, he grabbed her other wrist to make sure she didn't just start slapping (or doing something worse) him with that one.

"Rhia, damnit, listen to me!" He ground out, the left side of his face red and numb from her slaps.

Rhia wasn't going to listen to him, not this time. She had listened to him so many times before, but not now. She let out a feral, catlike yowl and lunged forward, intent on biting his nose off. Her fangs glistened dully, and her mouth shut with a loud snapping sound, but she missed by an inch or two, only because he was holding onto her wrists and keeping them away from his body.

"You... b*****d!" She screeched into his face, "You b*****d! You should have just let me stay dead!"

She let out another inhuman cry and struggled against his grip on her wrists. She couldn't get her legs out from under herself, otherwise she would have kicked him right in the crotch. Which would have been rewarding to her, but not enough.

Nothing would ever be enough now.

Zarien held onto her wrists tight enough to leave bruises later, but he did flinch as she tried to bite him in the face. She was upset, he knew she would be, but this... this was insane!

"Rhia!" He tried again, his voice still soft and even. "Rhia stop, please! I don't want to hurt you, damnit!"

Rhia froze for a moment at his last words, the strength she was putting behind her struggle fading. No, he didn't want to hurt her, but he had. Even if he hadn't meant to, he had more or less cut out her heart. She let out a soft moan and her head fell forward, her eyes squeezing shut.

A child, the only innocent and pure thing left in this world. The one thing she wanted more than anything... the one thing that had made her feel truly whole... gone.

It felt like she was going to cry, but the tears wouldn't come. She pulled her hands towards her and covered her face with them; a dry sob shaking her body.

"Oh gods, Rhia..." Zarien let go of her wrists and instinctively went to comfort her; taking her into his arms and holding her lightly. She was his friend, he cared about her so much... why did he always have to hurt the people he loved?

He gently rubbed the small of her back with one hand and smoothed her hair with the other, trying to get her to stop crying, if that was in fact what she was doing.

"It'll be alright, Rhia," He whispered to her, gently rocking back and forth to try and calm her. "I promise, it'll all be alright."

Showers were a god given thing. They had to be.

Azruael had just stepped out of the steaming shower, rivulets running playfully down his dark skin; it did tickle, and feel somewhat good, but it didn't feel as good as fingers. The demon sneered at the thought. His sopping hair stuck to his back, smacking against it every time he moved. He grunted, suddenly annoyed with his wet locks, and tore a towel from the wall, beginning to rapidly dry himself off; he wasn't doing a very good job of it.

His wings were altogether a different story.

Dewy drops of water clung to his black feathers, a glossy sheen covering the expanse of his drooping pinions. Water slowly dripped down every single one which made the demon squirm visibly. Stretching his wings out delicately, Azruael shook the water out, a bit guilty that he was making a mess of things in the bathroom. Finishing up, he gave himself a boyish smile in the mirror - something he never did in front of others - and draped the towel over his head and exiting the bathroom buck naked.

Okay, stupid thing to do.

It was cold. Azruael shook his hands out and ruffled his wings. He tugged the towel from his head and draped it around his hips, not very securely either...it hung off his narrow frame, but managed to stay up. (Probably because of his tail) He walked to the dresser in the room and picked up his clip, too lazy to brush his hair out.

Maybe Rhia could later.

He gave a fanged grin at the thought, pulled up his still dripping hair and clipping it up haphazardly. He then made his way to the stairs, passing and waving to Ava on the way - who decidely looked the other way. He laughed and shook his head, making his way downstairs.

The sudden sounds of dry sobs not only peaked his curiosity, but froze his blood and, surprisingly, his heart. That couldn't be...could it? Padding quickly down the stairs, he entered the living room only to reel back at the sight that came to his golden eyes.

Anger was first and foremost. Then utter confusion.

"The hell...?"

Rhia jolted at the sound of Azruael's voice and swung her head around fast enough for her hair to fly out and whip Zarien's face. She didn't wait for anyone to say anything, she just lurched to her feet and stumbled over to him; her eyes free of tears but her face a mask of indescribable suffering. She wanted to say something to him, but her throat was closed and her mouth dry, making it seem like she had never uttered a word in her life.

Azy... Azy hold me, please...

Her wings opened just before she more or less slammed into him, her arms wrapping around his bare waist and her wings coming forward to half-circle both of them before her momentum knocked them both back into the hallway wall. She seemed heedless of the fact that he was wet and only wearing a towel; she just clung to him as if letting go would ensure her death, her face pressed against his chest and her eyes shut tightly. Her body was trembling, and her ears dangled limply on the sides of her head, as well as her tail.

Azy... please tell me this isn't happening...

Zarien slowly rose to his feet, clearing his throat and reaching up to gently brush his fingertips against the left side of his face. Damn, it stung, and to others it was a very angry red color, even with his dark skin and tattoos. But he probably deserved it, dropping something like that on her without even giving her the slightest warning.

He wouldn't even be surprised if she hated him after this. After all, it was kind of his fault in the first place. He had made Shallahar bring her back, but he was only fourteen, he thought it was the best thing to do!

He didn't exactly know what to say to either of them, and he wasn't sure what Azruael would do, so he remained standing in the living room, keeping a good distance between himself and the pair.

Azruael was about to respond to the scene, but it seemed Rhia had gotten to him first, slamming him backwards. The hallway wall caught their fall, however. Confusion lit his face as the woman clung to him, his cat-like orbs as round as they could possibly get.

What the hell was going on?

His response to her was a bit slow, and came almost carefully. His arms held her firmly, the other going to her hair and gently pressing her face to his body. In this moment, and this one moment alone, his lover seemed truly...helpless.

The demon held her as if she were made of glass, but reassuringly so, pressing his chin to the crown of her head. Finally remembering Zarien, he looked out across the hallway, his gaze boring the most deprecating hole into the younger man.

What the hell had he done?!

"Rhia," he murmured, voice quiet and smooth. "Rhia..."

He simply repeated her name and held her, fingers brushing alongst her back as he placed his full attention on her. Anger coiled at the pit of his belly and confusion wrung his heart like a sponge.

What was going on?

At first it didn't seem as though Rhia had heard the demon murmur her name, she just leaned against him with her arms wrapped around his waist. She wanted this to be some dream... no, a nightmare. Some stupid nightmare that she would awake from any moment now, awake and be back in the hotel room in Venice with Azruael beside her, his arms around her, everything fine...

But it hurt. Gods, it hurt so bad! She had always figured that someday she would have another child, it was almost like a given; she would find someone, settle down and have a ******** child! She had ******** up so bad in the past, so many times, she wanted to do something right! Why? Why was this happening to her? Maybe the gods, or whoever really ran the show, realized just what a ******** whore she was and decided they didn't want her raising a child. Maybe it would turn out to be just like her.

Maybe this really was for the best.

A soft, wailing like sound came from her then, half between a whimper and a whine. Though it didn't seem possible, she clung to the red haired demon even tighter than before. Tears finally came to her eyes then, hot and stinging, though they didn't fall. She wouldn't let them.

All I wanted... all I wanted...

Zarien stood, basically helpless, as he watched Azruael try to soothe Rhia. He hoped the demon could do it, and he thought if anyone could, Azruael would be the one to do it. He honestly had no idea how much she wanted a child, how much it meant to her. He knew now though, but now was too late...

"I didn't do anything to her, I came to talk to her and... it just... we..." Zarien's jaw twitched and he returned Azruael's stare, not backing down as most probably would have. The seaborn realized that the demon didn't know what had happened and, if Rhia wanted it to stay that way, he didn't want to blurt the wrong thing out and make it worse than it already was. "I didn't do anything. I just talked with her, I would never intentionally hurt her."

His heart shattered at the sound of anguish that escaped her lips. Azruael would have it etched in his memory for the rest of his life. He shut his eyes against her pain; how he wished he could take it away from her, bear it upon himself. He didn't like this side of her, he didn't like it at all.

He continued crooning her name, eyes flickering open at the sound of Zarien's voice. He shook his head, still not understanding what was going on. All he knew is that he had to do something. His fingers trailed through Rhia's hair, his voice soothing as he buckled his knees and slowly slid them both to the floor. He cradled her against his chest, chin on her head; he cocooned himself around her.

He wanted to protect her from the world.

Azruael wondered how to calm her, or at least try, when it came to him. She had done it countless times when they were in the Shadow Realm and he had even asked her to do it several times. It had always gave him a sense of calm...maybe it would her.

So in both quiet and lilting tones, he began singing softly to her, a quiet lullaby in her native tongue. He hadn't the best hold on that language, but he tried. He tried his best for her, which was all he could do for now.

Zarien felt bad enough for what he had done to his friend, but when Azruael started to sing softly to her, he suddenly felt a little intrusive. Opening his mouth slightly, he gingerly grasped his jaw and moved it back and forth, testing to see if she had done anything besides give him one hell of a stinging. He sighed then, feeling it best he take Alexei back with him for the time being, at least until this was sorted out. Once she was more... rational, he would find out her final decision, and perhaps need to find somewhere else for the boy to live.

He quietly slipped out the archway closest to the front door, since Rhia and Azruael were taking up most of the one closest to the stairs, and stood in the hallway for a minute, hands in the pockets of his jacket, as he looked at the winged couple a little longer. Telepathy wasn't one of his major powers, save for when he was communicating with Rhia, but he was good enough at it to send a small message to her lover.

Treat her well, demon, she's more than any of us can ever imagine. And if you ever leave her, I swear it will be the last mistake you ever make.

With that, he turned and quietly stepped onto the porch, closing the front door after himself. He didn't really care what Azruael thought of that message, in all honestly he had never really liked the demon, and the threat was one of the handful of ones the seaborn meant and would carry out if necessary. All he really wanted was to make sure that Rhia was in good hands and would be well taken care of. As well as he himself would have taken care of her, had he the right.

"Let's go, Alex." He said, smiling softly. "Looks like you'll be staying with me for awhile longer."

Rhia noticed that Zarien had left, or felt it rather, but she had no clue he had said anything to Azruael. Once the demon had started to sing in the Ancient Language, she had calmed down relatively quickly. She adored his voice, and it was so rare for him to sing - in her own language no less - that she loved every word that fell from his dark lips.

She was no longer dry sobbing, which was a great improvement, considering it had been years since she had done something like that, but the tears that had recently filled her eyes remained there; hidden behind her black sunglasses. She seemed almost lifeless in his arms, her wings and tail still, her chest barely even rising and falling as she breathed. She felt very small as she clung to him, powerless and insignificant, and more alone than she had ever felt before.

But she wasn't exactly alone, she did have the others in a way, even if there would always be something between them that kept them from ever really bonding, they were there. And she had Azruael, far more important than anyone else. No matter how short their time together was, it couldn't be rivaled by anything else she had ever done in her entire existence, save perhaps the time she had spent with Keijah and Su. Nothing could ever make her regret choosing to be with him, even when the time came and he left her.

Perhaps she was just destined to always end up alone.

"I don't want you to go," She said suddenly, surprising herself as much as she probably surprised him. Her voice was only a whisper, cracked and strained, but the words were understandable, even if she hadn't really intended on saying them. Her arms slowly loosened around his waist and her bottom lip trembled slightly, but still she refused to cry. "Please... don't ever leave me."

Azruael twitched with visible irritation, obviously aggravated at Zarien's threat. His amber eyes watched warily as the man left, his lips still moving in his song. He had faltered only slightly when he had been sent the message. If he weren't in the process of comforting his lover, he would've responded with a bitter snarl.

As was his way.

He returned his full attention to Rhia, his hold becoming slightly tighter as she loosened her own. What she said next, however, caught him completely off guard and caused him to become quite still.

Was that what this was about? he puzzled, brows furrowing slightly. Did Zarien say something about him leaving?

The demon finished his song, sighing faintly. It was then he realized that Rhiannon was the one woman he had stayed with the longest. He had loved once before, but it was completely one-sided and at the arrival at that news, he acted as if his love for the other woman never existed. It was never to be, anyway.

But Rhia...Rhia was different.

She had protected him, and he, her. He had been around her for as long as he could possibly remember; a little after he had decided to make the Shadow Realm his home. (However homely that could get.) He had become attached to the woman, not caring an ounce if she was the Demon Lord's lover. He defied his will by obsessing over the woman, spending every minute he could with her, and subtly mocking the Lord even if he was in his presence.

That didn't go without beatings, of course. But who was there to tend to him and defend him against Vrael's will? Rhiannon.

Looking down at the woman who laid broken in his arms, he gently began to rock her, pressing her form to his body. He tried to push away the feeling. He tried to deny it. Hell, he tried to act as if it had never come...but something like this was near impossible to ignore.

Could Azruael, the man who was no doubt the whore of the Shadow Realm, be...in love?

He clenched his jaw at this sudden realization; he would probably never tell Rhiannon...she'd mock him, he figured. Instead, he attempted to reassure her, holding her tenderly - if not a bit tightly - and draping his wings about her and tucking them between her own and her shoulders.

"I won't," he whispered, burying his face against his hair. "I won't ever leave you, I promise you." He had left too many people he had loved in his past...he didn't want to screw up again. Not now. Not when he was needed.

A soft though unmistakable purr came from Rhia as his song ended and he spoke to her. His words comforted her, whether she truly believed them or not, and that was all she wanted at the moment. That was all she had ever really wanted from him, and that was all he was ever willing to offer her. Which was fine, really, she knew and accepted that, but it still didn't stop it from hurting.

Her eyes became hooded and pressed the side of her face against him, careful not to tear his skin with her still growing horns, and her ears finally seemed to perk slightly as she flicked them once. The feathers on her wings puffed slightly as she nestled closer against him, the warmth of his body soothing her just as his voice had.

He won't go, She told at herself, absently brushing her fingertips over his bare chest and noting the darkening skin around her wrist from where Zarien had gripped her. He said he wouldn't leave me. He promised.

Her spade tipped tail slowly started to slither and coil in the air, again seeming with a mind of its own as the demoness didn't seem to notice it. She gently ran her hand over his chest again, the fingers of her other hand absently brushing against the small of his back, and she let out a soft sigh. He wouldn't leave her, he had promised, and he never went back on his promises, did he? Her slitted eyes, now golden in color, opened at that thought and her hands stilled.

She didn't know how seriously he took his promises. In all reality, she didn't even know that much about him, or he her.

"If I had stayed dead," She whispered to him, her voice turning from anguished to bitter in a matter of seconds, "Perhaps it would have been better for everyone."

Azruael could, at times, act out violently when someone did something stupid that offended him, or for that matter, said something that offended him. It took him all his will power not to take Rhia by her shoulders and peel her off of him, just to make sure she saw him snarl. Anger coiled in his belly at her pessimistic words. Anger at her, anger at himself...

The demon attempted to calm himself down; rage wasn't going to help anyone out. Instead, he began to speak in what he hoped was a stern voice.

"Rhia...don't say that. Don't...ever say that," he began, anger seeping into the edges of his words. He didn't mean for it to, and didn't even notice it when it had began. The anger wasn't just plain anger, though. His voice had quavered with a strong emotion; he scowled at himself.

"People still love you, people still care. And I'm sure people are still searching," he added quietly, sighing in a fashion that was so unlike him. A sound that only one who was both physically, emotionally, and spiritually tired would emit. Despite his usually carefree manner, when it came down to it, Azruael could stress easily.

If the matter were drilled in deep enough.

His hold on her relaxed considerably, and he began brushing loose strands of her hair absently, eyes half closed.

"A life without you isn't worth living," Azruael breathed, unaware that he had said it aloud.

Rhia at first stiffened in his arms as he spoke, the anger in his voice more what she was hearing than the words themselves. Though she was still extremely upset, his anger triggered something inside her and her eyes darkened, taking on a reddish hue. Her tail stopped moving and she sat perfectly still in his embrace, her slitted eyes narrowed and her teeth clenched together. As absurd as it may seem to some, those who knew the demoness wouldn't be all that surprised to find that she was now angry again.

Thoroughly pissed off, in fact.

He was angry? He didn't want her saying things like that? He didn't have one ******** clue what had just been revealed to her! She had just found out she had lost one of the most important things in her life and he didn't want her being pessimistic? A low growl built up in her throat and would have been voiced had he not spoken again. It technically wasn't the fact that he spoke, it was the fact that this time she actually listened to what he said, and was surprised to hear him say something like that.

For a moment, the shock she felt from his words drowned out the anger and she abruptly sat up; pushing off his chest with one hand so she could look at him face to face. Her brow knitted together and a small frown played across her dark lips as she reached up and pulled her sunglasses off; something she pretty much only did for him and only when she was being serious. She blinked disbelievingly at him, her pupils large and surrounded by a thin strip of a deep, reddish-purple color.

"What... what did you just say?"

When she had first stiffened, Azruael felt awashed with guilt for letting his anger get the best of him. His dark lips parted slightly, ready to fight back verbally if she was going to say anything; he had his pride to uphold, after all. But her pulling away and asking for him to repeat his final comment was the last thing he ******** was in deep s**t now.

The demon ran his tongue over his lips, a grin making the corners of his lips twitch upwards. This grin, however, had no mirth. When some panic, they tend to begin laugh, giggling, even smiling...even though they know something bad was going to happen. As was Azruael's case.

Because honestly, he couldn't remember the last thing he said.

"Ehrr..." he began, crimson brows rising slowly as he shifted uncomfortably. He racked his torn mind for the last fragments of what he had said, never even beginning to understand that he had said those last words aloud.

Rhia blinked a few times and slowly her own lips parted, revealing her fangs, as he just sat there, acting like... like it was a joke! She had never heard him say something like that before, at least not with that much depth (could you call it that) behind it, and here she had asked him to repeat it and he was what... playing with her? Pretending like he had no ******** clue what he had said?

Damn him!

She issued a low hiss, her lips peeling back from her fangs in a small snarl. She slipped her sunglasses back on without a word, on her feet in an instant and whirling away from him. She basically stalked into the living room, just to get away before she did something stupid. Only for Azruael would she leave and try to calm down first instead of just hauling off and smacking (or gutting) him.

She was in no mood to joke, and was never in a mood to joke about things like this! If that's how he wanted to be, fine, good for him (the rotten b*****d!), but she wasn't going to sit there and listen to him ******** around with things that she took seriously... things he knew she took seriously. She slowly started to stalk back and forth in the living room, like a caged animal, trying to calm down. Her tail lashed back and forth behind her and her wings were opened slightly, the feathers ruffled.

She should be mad, it was understandable with something like this, but even she realized the amount of anger she felt at the moment was a little... unreasonable. But then again, she didn't care. She never had, this was who she was and she didn't ******** care. She growled softly, one half of her upper lip twitching to reveal a flash of her fangs and she folded her arms behind back; her hands wringing the air.

Azruael's golden eyes watched as she paced, a truly confused look on his face. He straightened from his sprawled position on the floor and climbed to his feet, twisting his lithe frame to relieve the pressure on his body. His towel slid down precariously low, and he pulled it back up, tightening it, before his gaze landed upon Rhia again. Jutting his chin out, brows furrowing, he began racking his mind trying to figure out what the hell he had said...or had thought in that brief moment.

He rubbed the bridge of his nose with a knuckle, placing his weight on his right leg so that his narrow hip jutted slightly. What had he said to make his lover react so?

He tried to grasp desparately at the pieces of his awful memory, placing them together haphazardly, but good enough so that he began to remember. What he did remember, though, made him press his fangs into his lower lip like a child; he cursed vehemently, snarling loudly and slapping his palm on the wall as he turned.

God damnit! He had said that?!

The demon pressed his forehead to the wall, hand trailing down before falling at his side. No wonder Rhia looked pissed...she must've taken it as mockery. Black pinions rustled noisly as they shifted upon his back, their weight becoming a burden to him despite their hollowed bones.

"I apologize, Rhiannon," he said, his tones almost...was that formal? "I didn't mean for you to take it wrongly...I just. I'm sorry. It was out of line, and if I offended you, I take it back." The demon had always gotten into deep s**t, but this seemed the worst by far. His wings drifted apart slowly, sinking to the ground as they did when he was upset; he began making his way back upstairs.

Rhia continued to pace, even as she heard Azruael get up. She refused look at him, even in his approximate direction; she just kept striding up and back in the living room, her eyes fixed on some unknown point ahead of her. She couldn't even speak, she was so angry. The feeling clutched and gnawed at her gut, tightened her chest to the point where her breathing became slightly laborious and the muscled cords in her neck were drawn taught. Her jaw started to ache from being clenched so tightly, and the nails of her fingers sliced open her palms in thin, crescent moon shaped cuts.

She stopped pacing abruptly, her pupils widening and her long ears perking as Azruael spoke softly. He was behind and to the left of her at the moment, out of sight had she turned to look, but she didn't. She stood stock still, staring blankly ahead with her hands clasped tightly behind her back, even now oblivious to the small amount of blood that stained her tanned skin. Her wings slowly folded in against her back and her tail became still as he finished speaking and started heading for the stairs.

He was apologizing. He had never once apologized to her before, but here was, saying he was sorry. She should realize what exactly it was he was saying sorry for, and maybe go after him. Tell him it wasn't his fault, maybe ever tell him what Zarien had just told her. But of course she didn't go after him, or even understand what he was really apologizing for, at least not in her current frame of mind. A low, guttural growl roiled in the demoness's throat then and her slitted eyes flashed from behind her sunglasses. Yes, of course, he would do that. Say it and then apologize, act like it had never happened or still treat it like a joke, that was what she wanted. Good, smart Azy, always knew exactly what the ******** it was she wanted to hear!

A bloodcurdling cry came from her then and she whirled to the coffee table, her left arm arching into the air and falling down into the center of the solid, cherry oak table. It gave way beneath her strength with a loud and sickening crack, splitting cleanly into two pieces and neatly slicing open her forearm in the process. She didn't seem to notice this as the blood started to spill from the fresh wound and onto the carpet, instead she simply let out another enraged sound and slammed her booted foot into the couch; sending it rolling a few times through the living room. She turned to the love seat and laced her fingers together, slamming her fists onto the back of it and splattering droplets of blood onto the wall. The back of the love seat broke with a loud snap and sank downwards, creating a large 'U' shape in the now crimson stained fabric. She grunted softly as she heaved the love seat clear off the ground and launched it to the opposite end of the living room with another cry; literally crushing the entertainment cabinet and all that lay within with a series of loud crashes, cracks and thuds.

She stumbled back a step and gripped her left arm, finally realizing the intense stinging the large gash was causing. She let out a loud hiss and opened her wings enough to curve them around herself defensively before dropping to one knee. She placed her left palm against her neck, still not aware that she had cut it, and watched for a moment as the blood dripped from her elbow and formed a dark, ever growing puddle which the carpet greedily soaked up.

Destroying things always made her feel better, it helped release some of the (let's face it, pretty much irrational) anger she always carried inside of her. But this time when the anger was gone there was nothing left to replace it. A cold, hard void was left when the veil of rage was stripped away, and that empty feeling, that nothingness... that scared her. After a moment she got down on both knees and bent forward, her bleeding arm pressed closely to her chest and her wings dropping to the floor on either side of her. She ripped the sunglasses from her face, suddenly annoyed that she had no choice but to wear them constantly, and crushed them in her right hand; further aggravating the small cuts on her palm. She placed her hand to her face and then pulled it away abruptly, almost as if she had been burned. Her exotic eyes widened slightly as she looked at her hand; the blood on her palm now mixed with a clear liquid that was on her face.

Tears.

Sometime during the destruction of her living room, she had started crying and hadn't even realized it. Now her cheeks were slick with tears that were still continuing to fall and she pressed her bloodied hand to her face again; a small, helpless whimper tearing from her throat as she sat hunched in the middle of the living room.

He stood prone on the stairs, shoulders bunched as he listened to the chaotic sounds coming from down stairs. The crashes pierced his sloped ears, tearing through his sensitive hearing and embedding itself within his heart. He winced multiple times, each and every movement bringing pain, every cry bringing dull ache. Azruael slid to his knees as Rhiannon destroyed the living room, and pressed his palms against his forehead.

What had he done?

The demon ran his fingers through his damp hair, eyes shut against the onslaught that he did not see. He didn't want to watch...he didn't want to listen, but he knew he had to. His wings barely twitched from their spot behind him and he managed to drag them upwards to clutch against his bare back. It seemed ages to him before his lover had stopped, and he never realized that he had curled up on the steps like a child would.

Like a child who refused to both listen and act.

Golden eyes flickered open, his head coming up. His slotted pupils sifted through his bangs for something to look at, something to take his mind off of what was happening, but all they met were the stairs. The demon banged his head against the edge gently before climbing to his feet, his towel once again receding to somewhere past his hips.

Gripping the hand rail so his hand was before him, Azruael began to persuade the rest of his body to go down the steps. He hadn't gone too far up, but it took him longer to climb down. He took a deep, shuddering breath and raced down, fists clenched at his sides as he walked stiffly into the living room.

What met his eyes wasn't the way the room had been nearly demolished, nor the stains on the carpet...what had caught his eyes and held them steady was the bowed form of Rhiannon...and what met his ears was even worse.

Did he smell...salt?

Azruael walked forward slowly, lips moving but unable to make sense of any word he was attempting to say. Instead, the demon's knees buckled and he found himself situated behind her, reaching out for her. Slowly, very slowly, he brushed his hand between her wings before flattening it. Sliding forward, he laid his head against her back, his other arm tucking around her waist, fingers gently playing against her side. Black wings spread outward to match his lover's, laying delicately against hers.

Azruael's eyes shut, his lashes casting shadows upon his face. He knew not what to say, but figured in this moment that anything that could be said should be swallowed. Words had no place here.

After the initial soft, whimper-like sound, Rhia was silent. Her eyes were squeezed shut, partly from being without her sunglasses and partly because she wanted the tears to stop. Though her breathing was, for the most part, deep and even, it hitched every now and then and came out in a soft burst.

"Why did you ask your mother to bring me back, Zarien? You didn't just do it because you felt like playing the goddamn hero."
"I... made a promise to someone I care very deeply for."
"So you would put a promise before what I want, even when it's my life we're talking about?"
"In this case, Rhia, I would."

How quaint of him. The distraught demoness could feel bitter resentment rising to the surface inside her, smothering the anguish and causing her body to tremble with rage. How. ********. Typical. She was slowly beginning to realize how much she disliked the half god. But how ironic that at the same time she disliked him, she also cared for him. She could probably blame Shallahar for that one too, with the 'bond' she had tied between Zarien and herself. All gods were the same, and how Rhia hated them.

Her body flinched as she felt a hand slide across her back, but she knew who it was without lifting her head. Her own wings fluttered once as a second pair was laid atop them, but she didn't protest as Azruael rested his head against her back. Her tail twitched and slithered for a moment, brushing against his legs before falling still once again. She didn't know what to say, because there was nothing really to say.

She should tell him what had started this. Perhaps that was what needed to be said. She wasn't sure if he felt that it was his fault or not, she wasn't even sure how she felt at the moment, but the fact was it wasn't his fault and he should know that. She could deal with her anger and sadness later, right now, she had to make sure she didn't lose the things she already had by longing for the things she could never obtain.

You can't...

Oh gods, why? After everything she had been through, everything she had done and endured, why? Why couldn't she be happy? Why couldn't she have what she wanted just this once? Out of the millions of beings the gods could torment and abuse, why did they choose her to do this to? Why did it have to be Zarien who came into the Shadow Realm, why couldn't it have been someone else? It should have just stayed the way it was, even if Vrael had been alive... it couldn't have been any worse than this, could it have?

So many why's, so many questions. And not one ******** answer...

"It's not your fault." She said softly into her bleeding palm, her voice less than a whisper. Again, she hadn't really intended to say anything, it just came out on its own. But maybe it was better this way. She gently wiped at the small streaks of blood and tears on her face before lowering her hands to the carpet, her eyes still closed. She gently rubbed her palm across the gash along her forearm, smearing the blood over her tanned skin. The demon didn't even need to say anything to her, she just felt compelled to say it one her own, "Not your fault..."

They sat that way for a long time, long after her wound had closed itself and started to process of healing, she wasn't even sure how long they had been there before they slowly rose, the demoness needing a little assistance. They turned and head for her room, arms around each other and no words spoken. There was nothing to say short of Rhia telling him what had been said between her and the half-god, but she no longer had the desire to tell him.

Maybe someday, but not now.

Ava's diary entry; written in small, block letters
Things have been going really bad around here lately, at least for my bond it seems. She and Azy got into a fight the other day, or it may have been her and Zarien, I'm not sure. I was upstairs with Kenshi when it happened, and it sounded really bad, but he told me not to go downstairs, that Rhia could take care of herself and it would work itself out...

All the furniture in the living room is gone, even the TV and coffee table, and there are blood what appear to be dark reddish brown stains on the carpet. I want to know what happened, but I'm afraid to ask Rhia or Azy. Azy hasn't said anything to anyone other than Rhia, and she hasn't even been around all the much lately. She goes out and doesn't come back until really late.

At least I have Kenshi to protect me from Gwydion...

Everyone has been so moody around the house, Rhia didn't even seem pleased with the gifts we received the other day. A woman stopped by with them, and she had a feien with her. I think there was a second feien, but I'm not exactly sure, it was in her hood and I didn't get a good look at it, but it was about the size of a feien, maybe a little bigger.

On a lighter note, I love mango pudding! I really have to get more of that stuff, it was so good! I'll have to figure out a way to thank the woman for giving it to us, but I don't even know her name or where she lives, so that might be hard.

I still have my Christmas gift for Dad and Irisa, I should stop by and drop them off sometime soon, even though Christmas was last month. I really miss them and would like to see them again. Especially Dad.

Ava's diary entry; written in small, block letters
It's been a good amount of days since I last posted in here, and things haven't been going a whole lot better...

Rhia is still extremely withdrawn and spends most of her time... well, I don't know where, but not here at the house. A man stopped by late last night, he had really light blonde hair that was really long, and his skin and eyes were really pale too. He was tall, and kind of creepy, he wouldn't even come in the house; he and Rhia talked on the porch for awhile. I fell asleep before he left and she came back in, I don't know what they were talking about though. I wanted to eavesdrop, but I knew it would be wrong so I didn't.

I really, really want to see Dad again, or Shalafi or Neruo. It would be really nice to see a good friend right now, I'm really confused and a little upset. I think it would be worse if Kenshi wasn't around, so thankfully I at least have him still, if not Rhia or Azy. Speaking of Azy, I haven't seen him since last Thursday I think, and I'm worried that he may never come back.

But the scary part is I don't think Rhia even cares that he's gone...

Whee, I'm such a loser. XD

RP took place January 21st (compilation taken with permission from Karma's diary)

Ava landed on the small sill outside the window to Karma's home, a sudden pitch of nervousness crawling into her stomach. She shouldn't be nervous though, it was Talon after all. So what if she hadn't seen him in awhile? Neither one of them had changed since their last meeting.

...At least she hoped.

She quietly stepped up to the crack the open window created and stepped through, clearing her throat and gently tugging on the spike of hair on her head, "dad?"

For a moment there was no response and then from the carpet near the door, a hint of movement. A moment later, a white-winged shape glided to the sill and lowered itself. No, Talon hadn't changed since last she'd seen him....and he looked, in fact, a bit surprised once he saw the source of the voice.

"Ava..." he said, blinking as he approached her. Of all of the four of them, somehow he'd felt he'd damaged things with his youngest the most.

Ava released her cowlick and smiled warmly as Talon landed on the sill and approached. She was afraid that perhaps he wasn't home, or if he was, maybe he wouldn't want to see her. She still felt rather bad about the way she had first reacted upon seeing him merged. Of course he was a little frightening, but he would never hurt her, and she knew that.

"Hi," She said, her green eyes sparkling happily. She would have given him a hug, except she wasn't exactly sure if he wanted one at the moment, so she held back. "I'm glad you're home, I wanted to visit you soonerbut I was kind of busy with other things... I'm sorry I haven't kept in touch that well. How have you been? Good, I hope?"

He hesitated, seeming a bit surprised that she seemed relaxed in his presense once more after their last meeting, and then nodded. "I've been all right...I've seen better days, of course, but I can't complain." He summoned a thin smile for her. "And yourself? That wing isn't giving you trouble, i hope..." He lowered himself to one knee so he was more at eye level with her.

Ava smiled and shook her head, again getting the urge to hug him and again restraining. Maybe he wouldn't mind, but she still felt a little uneasy hugging him, even if he was still the same Talon she had first met.

"No, my wing is fine. Thank you again for healing it for me." She reached up and gently tugged on her right ear, giving him a small, shy smile and suddenly hoping she had done it right. "Did you get the package that I sent you?"

Package...before his face could betray puzzlement, he suddenly knew what she was talking about. Karma had dropped off a box for him that had arrived in the mail earlier that day as a matter of fact. Actually, the orb it contained was still sitting on the floor nearby where he'd been reading as he'd found it hypnotic to watch.

"I did." he nodded and then, only slightly hesitantly, pulled her into a light hug. "Thank you very much for it, Ava." He meant that on more than one level. The foremost being that it had started his affirmation that the bridge between them wasn't quite as rickety as he once thought, and the secondary being that he had few things that calmed him or allowed him to lose himself these days...the orb had been a welcome distraction from things.

Ava smiled again and returned the hug, basically clinging to him for perhaps longer than she had to. She found it very comforting to be held, probably more so at the moment since it was her father who was holding her. She wished they saw each other more often, maybe then it wouldn't hurt so bad when Rhia and Azy yelled and one or both of them left.

"I'm glad you like it," She said softly, only after a moment and still very slowly. She looked into his eyes, still a little disheartened that they were no longer the same color as hers, but she smiled nonetheless. "Have you talked with Irisa, Raylan, or Tahki lately?" She said softly, only after a moment and still very slowly pulling back from the hug. *

The yellow eyes wavered a little and then dropped. "No, I can't say that I have...from what I've been told, Tahki and Raylan are currently visiting someone far from here but should be back in a month or so, and as for Irisa.....her bond said she was upset by something and has gone to stay with some friends until she sorts it out...."

He paused a moment. "I'm sure she's fine though." he added, moreso as though he was saying this to convince himself than to try and convince her. Another pause, and then, in an attempt to lighten the mood a bit. "You still have to meet Berra, don't you?" he asked. This was the first time he'd met up with Ava when Kookaberra was actually within reach.

What little color was present in Ava's face slowly drained away as she listened to Talon, causing her crisp eyes to look insanely bright. Gone? All of them? She felt a familiar feeling slowly sink its teeth into her, the feeling of being left out of everything, of being the outcast, the loner. She had no clue what was going on, and now they were all gone, and she hadn't even known. And now Irisa could be in danger...

She blinked a few times and inhaled sharply, realizing that she had exhaled and not taken another breath. She tried to smile for him but failed the first time, and didn't even try a second time as she knew he could probably see how she really felt. "Y-yes, I haven't met her yet. Is she here?"

The small feien perked a little at this, but only slightly. She wanted to meet her sister, and she was a little ashamed at not being able to be as excited as she knew she should be, but her mind wouldn't relinquish its thoughts about her other siblings and her mother. But Talon and Berra were still here, and Talon had said they were okay. Her remaining family would stay. They wouldn't leave... would they?

He reached out and placed a hand on her shoulder. "I'm worried too, Ava." he admitted. "No one told me they were leaving until they were gone...I've spent these last couple of days panicking trying to find everyone and those were as best of answers as I could get from people." He seemed to be having similar black sheep thoughts at the moment.

"But you and I were away in another country for awhile, too....maybe something happened here that we didn't hear about and people needed to leave to deal with it. A couple of good friends of mine have gone missing too, so it isn't just our family, all right?"

Ava slowly nodded, feeling her throat tighten painfully. Others were leaving too, but that didn't help the awful feeling she had about knowing that the better portion of her family was now gone. Her mind suddenly wandered to Neruo and Shalafi, and for a moment she felt panic tighten around her gut.

Please let them still be here, please let them be okay. She thought worriedly, raising a hand to gently brush the back of it against her eyes as she felt them sting slightly. She wouldn't cry, she couldn't, she had to be strong. If not for her own sake than at least for Talon's, for her dad's.

"They're okay." She said softly, echoing his earlier statement, only in plural. It wouldn't help to sit here and think of all the things that could go wrong, that wouldn't help anything. She would have to find out if Neruo and Shalafi were still close enough for her to visit, and she was tempted to ask Talon about it but held her tongue, realizing she didn't want anymore bad news at the moment.

"Berra is here, isn't she?" She queried instead, figuring she had to be somewhere nearby, otherwise why would he mention her as he had? She reached out and took one of his hands in both of hers, almost as an unconscious gesture, suddenly needing comfort.

Shaking himself back to the present, he nodded. "Yes, she's here..." he said, moving to stand and gliding to the guest room door. He didn't leave the room, moreso poked out halfway into the hallway and called out. "Berra? Come here, please!" Withdrawing from the gap and then pushing the door open a little wider, he waited.

A moment later a tiny red and white shape fluttered into the room, stopping to hover in front of him. "Daddy?" she asked, looking up at him quizzically, wondering if she'd done something wrong. She didn't THINK she'd left any of her plushies out.

"There's someone you're long overdue to meet." he said, pointing at the windowsill at Ava and then ushering Berra forward. It proved unnecessary, however, as after the initial push in her sister's direction, Kookaberra moved forward quite on her own. She didn't even need to ask who this was as she drew nearer....the colors, the eyes, the cowlick....it could be only one person.

"Avangelyne?" she asked, already smiling and refraining from the initial urge to tackle her with joy. Her wings, however, betrayed her excitement and trembled a bit behind her.

Ava pressed her lips together in a grim line as Talon went to fetch Berra. She suddenly found herself a little nervous again, and though she probably had a right to be, she still didn't really like the feeling. She thought of Raylan and Irisa being black and white and wondered briefly if Berra would be the same way. She couldn't remember anyone telling her what Berra looked like, and for a moment she felt slightly afraid that perhaps she was the only one in the group who had red.

As Berra flew into the room, however, the fear and nervousness both left. A smile slowly broke out across her face as her sister landed in front of her and said her name. She was red and white, just like Ava herself was, and the slightly taller feien found that made her happy.

Slightly shorter.

Ava blinked for a moment and realized that Berra was in fact a little shorter than her, and her smile widened, secretly pleased that it turned out she wasn't the shortest of the four. Even after everything she had been through and the long months she had waited to meet Berra, she still surprised herself as she stepped up to her sister and hugged her tightly, "Berra! I'm so happy we finally get to see each other."

Berra instantly hugged her sister back, just as tightly and was practically vibrating with excitement. "I'm so happy to see you! Daddy's told me so much about you!!!" she chattered, clearly having inherited a bit more from Tahki than her eyes. She drew back from the hug after a moment, beaming at the other juvenile.

Talon watched from the door, making no move to join the two girls as he allowed them to have their meeting on their own. He felt it was only fair, after all, considering all the time he'd spent with Ava when Berra had had none at all.

"I haven't heard all that much about you," Ava admitted, keeping a hold of Berra's hands, "But I suppose that's because I haven't visited Talon very often, or for very long."

She smiled and found Berra's hyperness slightly amusing, and guessed she got it from Tahki. She remembered someone telling her Tahki was like that, but couldn't pinpoint who it had been. She suddenly wanted to ask Berra a million things at once, but restrained herself and started with only a few, on the verge of prattling herself, "How have you been? My summonday was yesterday, when is yours? I have a Christmas present for you, I'm sorry I didn't send it with Dad's, it's too big for me to carry, so I'll have to send it to you as soon as I get home. I hope you like it."

Berra didn't seem perturbed at all by the questions and happily answered them in sequence. "I've been okay! Sorry I wasn't here the first time you came over, but I was off looking for something. Daddy said that he'd first seen you in the shop so I went there a couple of times to look for you. My summonday was six days ago. On the fifteenth!"

At this, Talon cringed a bit with guilt, realizing he'd missed both of their summondays....not that it was a huge deal as summondays in general went unnoticed by the household at large anymore and no one seemed to care, but still...

"You got me a Christmas present??" she asked, sounding somewhere between surprised and excited. "Thank you! I'm sure whatever it is, I'll love it!" and then, remembering something... "Did you ever get the pixa that daddy and I sent?"

Older but shorter, Ava found this slightly odd, but it didn't stay in her mind for long as Berra kept talking. She was very nice, perhaps a little overzealous, but Ava liked her just the same. She paused a moment and her brows drew together as she thought. She had gotten a few pixapets for the holidays, and her face lit up as she remembered.

"Yes, I did, thank you!" She said, smiling once more and nodding her head, her cowlick bouncing up and down. "It's a beautiful grey cat, and she has spots, I named her Katarina. I had gotten one from Tahki and Raylan also, and Maquinar, for a moment I had forgotten which one came from you. I'll have to bring her here sometime, or you'll have to visit, she's very pretty and loves to be cuddled. I have five pixas so far, and they all just sort of landed in my lap within a short period of time, but I love them all very much. How many do you have?"

"Me? Oh I've got a few." Berra said, immediately illiciting a loud clearing of the throat from Talon's direction as she blushed and then relented. "....actually, I've got a lot." she grinned sheepishly. "They stay in the backyard because they were taking up the whole room. But....I'm sure they'd love to meet Katarina!"

Ava smiled at Berra and Talon, wondering exactly what her sister meant by 'a lot'. There was so much more she wanted to talk to Berra about, and Talon for that matter, but she realized that she had been gone probably longer than she had told Rhia should would be.

"I'll be sure and bring her over sometime, but you're welcome to come visit me anytime you like. I really don't want to, but I should probably be going soon." Her smile turned slightly sad, but she silently vowed to herself that she would spend more time with her family and friends... at least the ones that were still near enough for her to visit. "It was really nice to finally get to meet you, Berra, and I hope we'll see each other again very soon."

"Already...?" Berra's ears drooped. She didn't want her to go yet...! She'd just met her! But.... "Okay." she said, her smile slipping a notch or two as she leaned in to hug her sister again. "Come back soon, okay? I'll let you meet my pixas and you can show me yours! Or--or whatever you want!" Frankly, she didn't care what they did just as long as she got to see her again. "I'll miss you, Ava!"

Hearing them starting to wrap things up, Talon hovered forward from where he'd been hanging back on the other side of the room to say his goodbyes too once the two of them had finished.

Ava smiled and hugged Berra back, knowing exactly how her sister felt. She didn't want to leave either, but with Rhia being touchy lately she wanted to make sure she did everything she could to not anger her bond. "I'll miss you too, and I'll come visit again really soon."

She reluctantly released Berra, giving her another warm smile before stepping up to Talon, her smile lessening slightly as his words of their other family members once again filled her mind, "I'll miss you too," And almost as an afterthought, she showed her small, quirky streak to him again. A sly smile gracing her lips as she spoke softly to him, "And just because I now know Berra don't think I'll stop bugging you."

At that, he allowed himself to smile back in a similar fashion and showing that Tahki's hyperactivity didn't seem to be the only thing that was hereditary. "I'd hope not...I've been told I need a good bugging now and then." He reached out then, pulling her into a brief hug against him. "You take care, all right?"

Ava again hugged back, pressing the side of her face to his stomach for a moment before pulling away and nodding. "I will, you take care too, Daddy."

She stepped up to Berra, unable to resist the urge to smile broadly and give her another hug, "Take care, Berra." With that she turned and headed for the window, only stopping long enough to give them a small wave before disappearing outside.
