Well, in TKD class, our instructor wanted us to do jump round kicks and jump front kicks. Me, being the dumbassed White Belt I was, and the hot s**t I thought I was, went for it. Jumped, kicked, and realized, "Hey, my other foot is not on the ground.....Oh, ******** me in th-" BOOM!

I fell on my a** 3 times, never even got close to the bag.

However, I no longer suck that bad. w00t. And, I just made Yellow Belt. Go me! mrgreen

I'm no master, but compared to you guys, it's like some kind of grace incarnate.
Stupidest thing I've ever done was run into a light pole on my bike. I was doing about 30 on my bike, hit a muddy patch, had crappy brakes... It was pathetic. Suddenly, I was no longer doing 30 MPH, though I can't recommend it as a way of stopping.

Reminds me of a story my brother told me from his confirmation-camp. One of the leaders was bragging an awful lot about his awsome kung-fu skills and his mighty red belt. Asking my brother if he's ever done any martial arts my brother waves it off with "having done karate, but not for very long, only having reached yellow belt."
Then the kung-fu-leader decided to show off his skills by standing on a carpet and kicking upwards, resulting in him falling backwards and hitting his head pretty bad. Desperate to reclaim his pride he once more started talking about his great skill and my brother suggested a fight. Knowing that my brother was two years younger than him (14-16 does make a difference), shorter, had much less experience with the martial arts, not a very impressive physique and still had some respect among the other kids, he accepted, but claimed that it was not the right time.
The next day he approached my brother, somewhat flustered (to use my brother's words; "as if he had been standing in front of the mirror all morning going 'I can do this! I can do this!'") and telling him that the time had come for the fight.
"Now?" My brother asks.
"Yes now!"
"At this exact moment?"
"Yes, right now!"
"Alright."
Then my brother immediately took him down and locked him on the ground. As stated in Go Rin No Sho - the best time to attack is when your opponent is not ready, neither before nor after, to find the gap in his attention, and the fight had started after all.

Having had his a** kicked severely he claimed that my brother had cheated, yet failed to ever ask for a rematch. This is my brother's preferred tale when explaining to people that martial training and actual combat ability do not always go hand in hand.

Sorry for being off-topic.

Well,
In my early days of cross training... I was also teaching TKD part time. My Sabo went on a small vacation and I was running the school. I was supposed to be preparing the students for their upcoming testing they had. Well, throughout the school... everyone thought I was cool instructor (probably cuz I was young, atheletic and whatnot). At any rate, everyone wanted to learned the fated "really cool moves", stuff they never practiced before, now that Sabo was gone. He was gone for about two weeks, and it started with me showing them how to clinch and knee. From there, I just got caught up, and was straight teaching Thai... completely forgetting about the testing. Low kicks everywhere, clinch, knees, elbows, boxing. There students were actually starrting to pick up some of the stuff. Classes were bigger than before... students came everyday, unlike their normal routine of twice a week. Well, when Sabo got back, i got in DEEP trouble. No one was ready for their tests, and everyone was reluctant to go back to learning the cirriculum. In fact, 3 students quit as a result of it, and everyone else... I had to explain that what they were learning was from Thailand... and I was prohibited to teach Thai there.

Ultimately though, I ended up showing my sabo what I had taught them, introduced him to my Kru... and some basic Thai became part of the TKD Cirriculum. Darn Koreans with their pride, hehe.

I'm a martial artists and an utter clutz. Go figure, yeah me!

I've had so many incidents, more than I can think of.... We did some stuff like ukemi-ing over other people and boy..was that fun. Record was over 3 people's backs I think.

Actually one time, it wasn't even my own pain. I was practicing with my sensei with the bokken. Now I don't go full swing for fear that I would hit someone. Sensei yells at me for that for he can't demostrate the techniques if I don't full commit myself to the sword stroke.

So he kept saying "Harder!"

And just when he was looking away to explain the technique, I took that cue to swing, thinking that's what he meant.

And I wacked him right on the head with my bokken.

To this day (it's been more than a few months) he still has a little bump on the head...

I can think of a few. Let's see... I have a habit of getting 'core-to-core' and 'brutality' calls in fencing. One time I did a rather wild charge towards my opponent, ended up with him sidestepping, while still managing to stay on the strip, my blade went under his arm, along with the rest of my body. I ended up shoulder checking him, then my opponent responded by pommeling me in the back.

Another time I was sledding on a very steep hill near my house. It was one of those very high, steep hills that are popular with 'extreme' sledders. Anyway, it was late in the season and most of the snow melted. So it was a mixture of ice, mud, gravel and small patches of snow. I've always wanted to try snowboarding, but could never afford a board. So naturally, I use a Rubbermade box lid. I start off good, managing to balance on the slick plastic lid in my heavy Mac work boots, the soles slick with melted snow. About a third of the way down, the lid hits a rock, and I notice that I am no longer sliding on a lid, but instead in the air, about a foot over the very steep ground. I land on my a** hard, and proceed to slide down the hill, snow flying up my pant legs. I hit another bump and begin rolling and flipping rapidly, managing to smash my head against every bump, rock and patch of ice and continue to pick up speed, forming some kind of man-snowball. After my spinning reaches it's peak my fall is broken by a large puddle of mud at the bottom of the hill. I roll and groan for a moment, then get up. I immediatly fall back down because the world is spinning. I finally regain my balance and throw up.

The night ended with me pushing my sister's car home. What luck.

heheh, the stupidest thing I ever did was try to kick a punching bag as high as I could in the dojo... My other leg couldn't cope with the stretch, so decided to go along with the foot I swung up...
I ended up falling on the mat. >.> People were going all "1-0 for the bag!" crying
Other than that, the worst I did was trip over my hakama a few times, but who's never done that? ^^;

And great sig, Hylo. ^^

Okay, is there anyone here we can consider a "master"? Can any members who are also masters please step up? I'm deftly curious right now.
