I finally got Dynasty Warriors 5 (I already had DW5 XL). It's pretty much still the same game as DW2 thru 4. I got bored with it really quickly. Bleh. They need to let this series rest a bit before coming out with the inevitable #6.
Anyway, I'm waiting for the post office to deliver my copy of Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria. I can't wait to give it a whirl!

I miss my Playstation.... Is Dark Cloud the one where all the villages and suchlike have been placed in orbs because of some evil genie, and you have to run around dungeons finding all the peices so that you can restore the world to normal? Or am I thinking of something else?

Or am I thinking of something else? That's the one! biggrin I don't know what the first one's like (I only played the demo) but the second, Dark Chronicle, is absolutely beautiful. And addictive. So I'm looking forward to playing Dark Cloud.

Received Valkyrie Profile 2 (Silmeria) in the mail yesterday, and played it for a couple of hours. I'm loving it so far. The combat system is kind of funky, and I haven't quite got the hang of it yet. It's pretty quick though, and does require some skill (I've been button-mashing and believe me... it doesn't work so well). So far the only thing that annoys me is that you move as if you were in a 2D platformer, just like in VP1. Only being able to go left or right on the screen takes some getting used to.
The game is moderately challenging, and requires a bit of resource management if you suck at battles. Unlike the recent Final Fantasy games, you don't get automatically healed by reaching a save point, and healing items aren't nearly as abundant.
The voices in the U.S. version kind of suck. I wish there was an option to play with the original Japanese voices.

I've been playing Blades of Avernum recently. It's VERY good, except creating scenarios is a lot harder than it was in Blades of Exile. Almost all of Spiderweb's games are great; plus most of them were ported to Windows. They're better on Mac though. Less buggy. And what bugs there are get fixed way faster. Anyway, http://www.spidweb.com if anyone's interested. You don't need a fast computer or fancy display, or even lots of disk space. You just need to have at least, oh, 250mhz and be able to display Thousands of Colours at 1024x768(at least). Which is good! Yay for low end users! Plus, Gaia Battle is looking a bit poop. It just looks like Towns. I bet it's not even turn-based. Or isometric! What have they done?! gonk I also borrowed a badly scratched Call Of Duty 2 for Xbox 360 off a friend and played it with the volume turned up really loud. It's great- especially the Russian campaign. It's fantastic! When you charge across the snow to fight the Germans in the huge building across the square, the noise of your allies shouting is deafening! As you run, bullets from German gun emplacements shoot past your head, and then you dive behind some sandbags and wait for them to reload before trying to shoot them... it's just brilliant. I recommend it to anyone with a 360.

I won't be on Gaia very much at all, as now I have found a good mix of games that pretty much take up all my waking hours. Firstly, World of Warcraft. This is the main thing. I'm second-in-command of a great guild, am levelling up fairly steadily, and enjoying it all. Seondly, Gears of War with some Call of Duty 2 mixed in. I play these for the intense action and fantastic gameplay. Good when I need something a bit more exciting than WoW. Thirdly, Tetris, Frenzic and ADOM. A good bit of fun for when, say, the patches are downloading or my internet connection is down. Or, the Holy Light forbid it, my WoW server goes down... Finally I sometimes play Civilization IV and Age of Mythology when I need a change. There are a few other games I play, but I forgot what those are. Also, if you need something to do, I recommend Kingdom of Loathing or NetHack. Both are big enough to keep you entertained for AGES and both are fantastically well-made and fun. Anyway, have fun with whatever you're playing, I'm off to kill some of those damned Blood Elves.

I know that this isn't one of the games you're talking about, but is there anyone who plays any of the James Pond games anymore? I used to play it when I had a Sega Genesis, and I know it was available for other game station things, but I don't know if it's obsolete or what. Also, a game called California Games.

I've got a Genesis, a Sega CD, a Saturn & an adaptor that fits on the Genesis to play Master System games on cartridge or cards. I concentrate on RPGs, though, like Phantasy Star heart and the Shining series. My favorite is still the first--Shining in the Darkness, with its first-person perspective dungeons & crazy humor.
