If the people playing the part suck it'd be far more worth it to just get one and be done with it. XD Anyone who can play the oboe can play English Horn, it's the same fingerings and everything. It just takes a little more breath and whatnot.

I'd LURVE to play english horn but alas, I am the only oboist at our tiny school. That, and I don't think the school even has one I could play. sweatdrop
I've been playing oboe for *counts on fingers* about 5 years now. I still want to learn how to play bassoon; I think I might take lessons over the summer or something. I'll probably be playing percussion next marching season again so it'll be weird not taking lessons on a new instrument for once. That said, I'm thinking about taking lessons on either bassoon or cello for fun.

I play bassoon. Since no one where I lived knew how (not even my band director) I had to teach myself. I'm apparantly shockingly good when you consider that fact.
I want to try marching with bassoon, believe it or not. My band director says it's a no-no (for good reasons), but I want to try it anyway.

I switched to mello in marching (man I love my mello).

I could play my sax, but we need mellophone players, seeing as we only have 2, and neither is very good. I play oboe, though, and that is about the only difference.

Maybe that is just because I'm a girl, and when you are a girl in the brass section you get lots of attention. Plus, if I didn't play mello, I would have never gotten my bf....so YEAH PLAY MELLO!!
