Shenti sensed that he was looking to her for useful ideas, but she bit her lip as she faced the closed window and said, "Like what? Escape the Wave to go die in the desert?"

"If I could tell even one person about you, things might be better. Then you could have more people to talk to. But... if you could even go out in disguise, we could hang out in coffee shops," she laughed. And then they might just meet people with interesting connections, and find better ways for him to live his life. "I don't think a hat and a mustache would do."

Yes, Shenti thought to herself. It was finally time to talk about disguises. Devlon was approaching a time when he could control his own functions enough to pull of deceit.

"Disguise, my dear Shenti, is not the problem." Devlon said, a flash of hope raising his spirits slightly, though it didn't show in his expression. He was glad she was talking about this, it meant they were both on the same page.
"No one will put who I used to be and who I am now as the same person. I look nothing like I used to and I don't even use the same name anymore. The biggest threat that my past idenity affords me is that the Wave has no documents of my creation and history. If I am to move freely in the Wave, I need to be a legal citizen. Any less will leave me stranded in the Tide....or worse." What Devlon was talking about was far beyond glasses and a mustache, he was talking about either politically aqquiring or illegal altering Wave documentation to make the Cyborg known as Devlon a real Wave citizen.

If Shenti had met his eyes while she talked, she averted them now. "Devlon...did I ever tell you that there are features your body has that have...well, never worked before?" She bit her lip as she thought about it. "And I can't get them to work again for any one else. But if I could, then I could just say that you were the first one, and assign you a name from one of the failed test subjects."

The Gaians waited motionless. The seven trucks passed them by fairly fast. On the 8th they struck. The First and last truck were brought to a halt with anti vehicle missiles. The trucks were blown to the side, blocking the tight road. The druids took up their places to take out the guards that came out, there always were guards. Thimil stood by the 6th truck, waiting with his bow poised.

The time seemed to slow down, no one seemed to have moved for hours. The drivers of the cars seemed to have stayed motionless, from fear of their lives. What went on behind the covers of the trucks cargo was unknown. A sudden movement went on in a truck ahead of thimil. A big mech ripped the covers as it stood straight. It was about 8ft tall, on top of the truck. At once the druids used what they had aggainst it. Several tried sending the large rocks at it denting its armour, while others threw lightining from their palms. Thimil shot his arrow right at the neck, the one weak point he knew it would penetrate.
The mech was stunned for a second or two before unleashing his volley of bullets into one of the druids. He was ripped to pieces before he even fell to the ground. The mech turned to face more, but was distracted by Thimils second arrow, finding its mark. The arrows began to grow green and sparks flew between then, Thimil knew the spell was more than working.
The mech fired a volley at the escaping druids, who fled behind the trucks. The Mech did not seem to care, it fired right after them, shredding the trucks and its contents alike. Two more druids fell, Thimil did not know if they were wounded or dead, not that it mattered at a situation like this.
He was about to fire a third arrow at the mech when two guars came out from his truck. They had their guns at the ready, but thimil shot his arrow first, piercing the armour chest plate of one of them. He ran before the bullets got him. He hears them start as he turned around, but he was faster. He hid in between the trucks. He looked into the load of the truck ahead of him, it just seemed like cyborg parts, no guards. He climbed inside and got an arrow ready, waiting with his back to the side of the truck. As the guards came near, he heard a loud thump on the ground, one of them must have been drained by his arrow then. The other was looking for him, Thimil cound sense it. He calmed down his fear and tried to focus. He felt the guard outside the truck, not even two metres from him. He was walking slowly around the truck, edging closer to where thimil was. He touched his arrow to his forehead, adding an extra incantation to it, making his spell stronger.
As the guard walked to the spot Thimil was, he shot his arrow, piercing the canvas hitting him in the arm or head. Thimil was not sure but he moved fast, not giving any chances. He moved fast out of the truck, hearing the guard drop to the ground. The giant mech was still shredding everything in its path, with the druids not being able to do much more than run for cover and take pot shots at it before running for their life once more. The guards were just about killed, leaving a small group of three of them around the massive mech. Thimil ducked and picked up one of the rifles the guards had. It was not much but he hoped it was neough to get rid of the three cowards around the mech.

He crawled under the truck and started to edge forward. He heard the gunfire get louder, and the mechanical movement of the mech made his blood cold. He could see the feet of the guards now, but he kept getting closer. There was only the space between the mech truck and the one he was under. He knew he had to move fast. Thimil looked at the ground they were on, pure sand and gravel. He summoned up some gaia and moved the sand from under their feet, creating the same effect as someone pulling the carpet from under their feet. Thimil wasted no time, pulling the trigger, wasting all the bullets on the fallen guards. The mech stopped shooting. He heard it move around and the guns click into place. Thimil had two choices, and he knew which one he picked.

As the bullets shredded the cabin of the fruck and rained hell on the ground below it, Thimil rolled from under and started to run towards the mech. He knew he was dead meat as it was, but running was all he had left. He saw the metallic form of the heavily armoured mech looming over him. Its railgun mounted on its arm with the other sporting a crushing three pronged claw. He knew it was over.
He saw the claw swing for him, knoching him into the air. He felt a rib or two snap, but he had not yet reached the ground. He hit the side of the valley hard, about fifteen metres away for where he stood. His head hurt really bad and his ribs were deffinately broken. His face and arms were grazed from the stones making it painful to move.
He heard the mech start to buzz slower and then suddenly a loud bang as it hit the ground. The arrow must have worked, its the only possibility. He waited for a minute or two for the others to find him, he was too weak to stand on his own.

The druids found him unconcious, with bleeding on his ribs. His eyebrow was ripped and his arm grazed very badly. Yet the ribs were their first priority. It took three of them to heal them back to place, as it would have drained one of them completely. He was carried to the safe spot while the other 7 of them unloaded what precious cargo they could find. They found power supplies, weapon carbines, spare parts for mechs that could be used as armour if fashioned propperly, but most importantly of all they found a small ray cannon. All were carried back to the camp after a long time, considering they also had to drag the dead, or what was left of them after the Mech finished with them.

((Sorry for slow reply. Been busy ^^;; ))

"What the hell, Fen?!" Raynor flinched at the sudden scream. Nuren was talking through their personal comm. link. "In one night the entire cargo went missing, and none of the members of the convoy are responding! What the hell happened to your cannon?!"

"Please calm down, Mr. Nuren," Ray tried in his emotionless voice, "what's done is done."

"How can you be so calm in a situation like this?!" Nuren replied hastily. "Not only do they have the parts but they have that monstrosity of a weapon with them now!"

"Sir, please think about this logically. It's not like they can build anything from those parts, and if they did they wouldn't even compare to ours, but if they even try to tamper with my new weapon, it is more than likely they would level their base of operations."

"But they still have a piece of artillery that could easily turn the tides of war in their favor!" It was obvious Nuren was becoming more frantic in venting to Ray.

"Sir, I have completed the improved M20 model. Mass production will begin in the next twenty four hours..."

The upper facial panels furrowed in thought at Shenti's confession. There were things about his body that he had no idea where there, or why. It was hard enough just learning to redo everything he had once taken for granted.
"You'll have to tell me about them sooner or later. However, we could assume such a person's identtity and then submit requests to alter the information. It just might work. But a few things. First, what exactly did you have in mind?"

Thimil leant on the cane for support, he was still very drained from the whole ordeal. He was unconscious for several hours, even with the healing he recieved. He watched the gathering in the moonlight. This was the time all Gaia believed to be most appropriate for sending off.

The Elders stood around the 12 wrapped bodies. "From Gaia we are born. Through Gaia we gain our existance and gain our power. Gaia is our will, our soul and ultimately, our life. These we are about to send back to her, are not meant to depart yet as their future was cut short. Yet their spirits enriched through their experience, their love for Gaia and all true life, means their journey back to her will be a pleasant one. Let us all join now in the chant, helping our fallen brothers to reach Gaia" The Elders stepped back into the circle, joining hands.
Thimil stifled his tears, knowing that two of the friends he went hunting with are amongst the 12. The words were said so often in this forest, no one even stumbled. It all was one earie chant, like death itself. It chilled him more than the sight of his fallen brothers.
"Eos nunmer. Thar air mun dra. Hech sime ar acktis. Serios deis mer sais. Nelos Gaia ach fert. Graci Gaia domine al manis" The gathering chanted for several hours, expecting nothing. The moon shifted, illuminating the bodies for several seconds. The bodies glowed a brilliant gold, then went all different colours that seeped into the ground. No one exclaimed, all just carried on chanting.

It was past midnight that Thimil went to check out the loot from the sacrifice. Twelve standard machine guns, enough steel to make into a tank, seventy suits of fashioned armour (most made from mech parts), one mysterious cannon, four whole engines for trucks and power cells. They could have used the trucks, but it was too dangerous as they could have trackers on them. Instead, they took all the things that could help them build the desired vehicle when the time comes. They have stockpiles of many such parts, enough for sure. But you can never be on the safe side.
Thimil counted the things, giving them a price each. As for that whole lot, twelve good druids were sacrificed. If only that large mech was taken down faster by his arrows. If only. It was not his fault, but he felt the blame. He saw a few of them die before his eyes, if death it was. They stood there, ripped appart by the high velocity bullets fired at them. Thimil's eyes began to water, he was crying already. Alone in the night, like it always was.

"I am not as intimately familiar with all your workings as is the computer at work," Shenti responded in a sideways manner.

"Maybe if I could sneak you in there, you could help me look over the data for your transfer and compare it to our failed attempts. At the very least you could see some nifty diagrams of your insides, and maybe later we can do a diagnostic on some of your parts. So...maybe one of those late nights? What's really standing in our way? Security cameras? The guards at work? I haven't had the heart to look into it that far..."

((Not really sure what special stuff to give him-- partly up to you, cyborg-boy xd ))

((Sorry for disappearing like that! I might be just as busy the rest of the week. I can't believe my summer is almost over ;_; ))

Having finally finished all of his military projects, Ray was experiencing one of the rare moments since his revival that he had nothing left to do. All of the recent complaints had been issued and he had finished all of the new equipment. All there was left to do was for the factories to get to work and wait.

It felt so alien to do nothing. The robot paced around his personal lab in what could be considered a daze if he were alive. Having worked for the last two days with just enough time to recharge his battery, it felt odd not to be perfecting a new weapon or better serving the people who lived in his utopia.

He knew the feeling wouldn't last. Tomorrow, one of the rare Tide Dweller settlements that dotted the general area would be destroyed by his creations. He moved to the window staring at the silver towers before him. He couldn't see past them, and after tomorrow, he wouldn't want to.

((Sorry for a purely OOC post... sweatdrop This is a tight bit of time for me, so I'll be unable to fully participate for a couple weeks. Considering I didn't exactly thrust Nida into the spotlight with that last post, I don't think that'll be too much of an issue. sweatdrop I'll try to post weekly anyway, if only to get her into position to interact, but things'll be slow.))

((Sorry I have been absent, my network provider had some damaged equipment which means no net for kai sad as for coool thingies...how about a fragment locater system allowing him to locate and/or remotely controll pieces of his robotic body that have been, for lack of better word, forciblly removed? I don't want anyhting that will make the character more powerful than what was originally designated on the character sheet.))

A small processer whirred slightly as Devlon thought of what Shenti was saying. Or rather computed was the word for it, now that it was no longer a biological system. The sound supressors kicked in and the whirring stopped. Devlon sat a few more moments in silence.

"Well, smuggling in my positronic brain is not to difficult. You could also smuggle pieces of me in one at a time and reassemble me in your office. It may even give the image of progress. Any materials that you need to 'use' for construction can be brought back here and concealed. It would help in any personal projects you have or repairs that I need. We can save me positronic brain for last. If I need to get around, there has been something I have been wanting to try. Its a bit soon to be thinking about it, but if it will help..."

Devlon was hesitant to mention it. Before the explosion, Energy Unleashed had been very big on biological matter. So much so that it had been growing entire blobs of the stuff in hopes that they could harness bio-electrical energy. Devlon's old brain could not make sense of everything they had done, but his new one absorbed the information stored in those memories more completely. With a bit of practice and research, Devlon was reasonably sure he could duplicate the process...

((No problem, Kai. School's starting for me as well, so I don't know how active I will manage to be. But we must press on!))

It was as if tomorrow would never come. It seemed that time moved more slowly for Ray when there was nothing left to be done. He quietly exited his lab and decided that it would be okay if he wandered around the building for awhile before Nuren got a hold of him again.

The door slid behind him and a world he had almost forgotten returned to him. It had been ges since he had ever left the lab, it was a wonder how much had changed since then. He walked down the bustling hall, filled wirh fellow scientists frantically flipping papers, cheking files, and over all makiing wonderful use of their time. To think that he wazs repsonsible for such a wonderful sight almost made happy Ray cry.

Almost. Kept forgetting what he was. He continued his trek down the halls stopping at windows to take a quick look at whatever was being worked on. More obedient puppies, less fattening snack foods. The world seemed to just keep getting better. He pressed his metalic hands to the plexi glass and wished he could help them. But he couldn't. How were his "children" of science to learn anything if he did all for them. Solemnly removing his hands from the glass he returned to his little walk, not sure wha he'd find next.

Porf chucked another box through the portal, and watched as it again spawned off to the side. Making the portal do nondestructive reads was a difficult and complicated task, but it made it far easier and cheaper to see to it that all of theirself's needs were properly taken care of - food, clothing, sleeping accomodations, etc. It was childs play to duplicate simple items, like food, bedding materials, or in this case some decidedly anachronistic clothing.

The facility was a bit on the expensive side for a somebodies who wasn't interested in renting; you can't exactly preform major construction on a rental after all. Further, most places in town had everything from sewers to rail stations to cabling running underneath, so a persons who needed to be able to repeatedly take large chunks out of the ground and build an underground facility out of the resulting void had some fierce competition. Fortunately it was on the bad side of town, which did quite a bit in the way of making it somewhat less unaffordable.

At least the renovations were cheaper. They did the work themselfs, and could duplicate most of the parts they needed. The underground construction would have to wait until they could get the proper resources to handle it, but for now they had to settle for simply extending and renforcing the foundation.

Also, they had to see about crafting plural/singular mixed gender pronouns. Hiveminds are so frustrating in that regard.

In the meantime, they had an image to build; if they were going to be starting in the secure communications industry then they needed people to believe them to be distinct from other messanging services, and that meant crafting an appearance that would set them apart from others. They already had some genetically modified nodes - men, women, demihumans, all kinds of creatures with all kinds of distinct appearances. The originals stay in the base for template backups and for researching information, while portal duplicates serve as field agents. Every node would wear a distinctive dark blue hooded robe, and speak as if they were some cult with a not-so-hidden agenda which was in no way, shape, or form conflicting with the actual buisness plan.

At any rate, their grand opening was in a little while, and nodes were donning their attire for the day ahead. This would be a very interesting day, to say the least.
