Lumella Hi there! I'm new here and I really don't know anyone here. I registered -counts fingers- ...2 hour ago. Anywayz... My name is Lumella (short 'Lu' -short 'mel' -short 'la') Some people pronounce my name in this way: -short 'Lu' -long 'mel' -short 'la' It's wrong, the first pronounciation is corect, ok? Welcome to the guild Lu whee

Hello, there. Th' name's "jojo". A pleasure to meet you all, I'm sure.
Let's see...I just got an invitation to join this guild....and, obviously, I accepted....Might I inquire of whomever by what standards of merit I was singled out for such an honor? A simple matter of curiosity...
Well, my favorite Disney flicks are The Jungle Book, Mulan, and The Emporer's New Groove. I have a weird love/ hate relationship with The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Victor Hugo fan, you understand. I can't even stand to see his work abridged, much less outright changed, and yet the movie is so beautiful...and they made Clopin's character design so cool....). I hate and abhor Hercules. Yup. That's it in a nutshell.
Huzzah for cartoons!

Hi, I'm new.... I should have come to this post first, but I got to wandering around other topics in here first redface I was also invited somehow, for some reason I'm not clear on. But I joined anyway 3nodding
I seem to like mostly 'older' Disney movies, such as Beauty and the Beast... But I'm working on seeing a few that I missed (Hercules, Tarzan, etc). I'm also pretty happy recently because I'm going through the Aladdin Platinum DVD whee

Wow. I've recently heard both Beauty and the Beast and Lion King as being considered 'old' Disney movies. What constitutes old? I tend to lump everything after Little Mermaid into the 'new'category, since the styles are so different from what came before them. 'Old' to me means the stuff that already existed when I was born...
Or maybe I'm just old. Never thought about it that way...

I tend to think of anything old enough to get a Platinum DVD release as 'old' wink I don't know what the 'official' story is, though. It certainly makes ME feel a little old sometimes blaugh

I've always considered Disney movies in the following time periods.
1. Snow White--The Jungle Book .....The Walt Dynasty. Everything's great. 2. The Aristocats--Who Framed Roger Rabbit?....The Middle Period. Some good. Some not so good. 3. The Little Mermaid--Fantasia 2000....The Golden Age. Everything fantastic, except for Hercules. 4. Dinosaur--present....The Dark Ages. With the exceptional sparks that are The Emporer's New Groove and Lilo & Stitch, there has been nothing of worth to be found. Hype without substance, unrest in the studio, endless sequels, and the breaking away of Pixar.

I guess that's pretty much how I think of things too, with a few minor discrepancies on where the 'eras' end. I've never been able to articulate it quite so nicely, though. biggrin

It might not be the best place to put this... But I sort of stopped watching many new Disney movie after Pocahantas redface What ones are worth checking out/seeing? I did see and like Lilo and Stitch, Emperor's New Groove, and Mulan... I'm wondering about things like Home on the Range, Brother Bear, Hercules, etc.
