She offered her wing again. "I'll take care of this place. It'll be as clean as you've ever seen it, promise." Although there was a nervous puckering around her eyes, Cass's voice was completely sincere. "You should probably just rest for the day."

"I d-don't w-want to be an animal!" He groaned, but slid from his chair down into his sore crouch once again to try to walk, his hand gripping her wing as tight as he could- his fingers were in plenty of pain from their recent webbing.

"Me, neither," Cass said quietly. "But I keep telling myself it could always be worse, and I suppose it could. Come on. We'll take it as slow as you need to."

Alright. Just walk. Don't panic. Walk. Not so hard. You're just green. You aren't a... a... snake thing. At least not yet. His muscles felt like they were on upside down. Like someone had knocked his sence of movement out of alignment, and urging his legs to move in one way resulted in their moving in another. Somehow, though, he managed a rather comical, bouncing, crouched couple of steps. His head was swimming from the surreal fact of it all.

"See? That's fine. You're doing great," Cass beamed, slithering along beside him. Oh man, but she was probably the last person to be helping here! "You should have seen me last time... not nearly as good as this. Which way's your duplex?"

"Ah... out... out and... d-down the w-way and... up the s-steps..." Newt huffed, his sore legs already feeling tired.

"Okay." Cass managed to nudge the cafeteria door open with an elbow. "Watch your step. You're doing fine. You lean on me as much as you need to."

They stumbled and hopped and slithered, taking occasional breaks every few minutes untill they managed to get to the base of the stairs that lead up to Newt's duplex, "I... I... I... I c-can make it, I th-think..."

"Are you sure?" Cass sounded worried. "You're good from here?" She stretched a little; it had been a stressful little journey. "If you're okay, I'll go right back and clean up, just like I promised. I'm a good girl."

Newt crawled up his steps on all fours, not bothering to fret about walking upright just yet. His brain was reeling, still not quite sure he believed all of this was really happening- at least to him. Just a dream. Heat exhaustion. Some other lame excuse. "I'm... I'm... j-just... l-leave my b-broom and I'll... ah... th-thank you..." he managed distractedly.

"It's not a problem. You just take it easy, okay?" Cassidy gave him a worried look, and turned away to head back up to the cafeteria to fulfill her promise. "I'll see you around."

Newt didn't seem to notice, scrambling for his key in his pocket befor he dragged himself inside, ready to curl up in a little green ball and cry in the comfort of his own duplex.
