'ello!
I'm new here... but I'm in Pit! Yay! I play Marimba... and I love it. I'm also Pit Captain this year, and that definitely makes me really happy. ^-^ I've progressed through the years on instruments... Ninth Grade: Bells Tenth Grade: Xylophone Eleventh Grade: Marimba Twelfth Grade: Marimba
I loved 'em all, but Marimba takes the cake for me.
Oh, and our Pit has some really strange customs. We kick each other before games, and have a spirit bottle that we carry around. We also sacrifice people on the Marimba... and I am the Priestess!!!
xD Um... not really... sweatdrop But we do pretend to.

I play Snare for marching band.
At tryouts, I was first runner-up for Quad Toms crying That skank got em over me because of her last name *RAWR*
But yeah. I definately love the Quads more than anything. They're so fun to play ^__^ I have my own set of White Pearl ones in my room. I have to get new heads everymonth because I play so much. I think I'm gonna need new rims too.. They're getting chopped up from the cadences that we play on the rims.
But yeah, I played Bass Drum (2nd highest) my Freshman year. I hated it. But one advantage. BASS DRUM MUSIC IS SUPER-UBER-DOOPER EASY TO MEMORISE!!! Especially because you only need to know your part. I hate memorising Snare music, it's so boring
For concert season, I'm usually on the more melodic instruments. We just ordered a new Marimba this year and I get to play it biggrin Usually I'm on Xylo or the really big chimes (I forget what they're called).
Ugh concert season is coming up. I know I sounded enthused about it in my last paragraph, but I really can't stand it. It's boring as all hell. The songs are really beautiful, but my god is there much need for 300 measures?

You *actually* got *new* equipment?! **dies** That would be so nice. We had to fight to get new bungees for the bass drum. Though the Drumline got new drums this year...... I'm using a marimba at least 20 years old. **sweatdrop** Where do you go to school, I'm transferring.... Just kidding. No one else wants to play my "beautiful" (read: dented, worn, cracked keys) marimba, so I get it all to myself.... ^_^

Our uniforms are like, 20 yrs old!!! I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get new ones for another 20 yrs!! And for our drums and stuff, it's usually Yamaha... sticks though, i have no idea what kind we use

Our uniforms are about, 6 or 7 years old. We just got brand new, white competition pants last year though. One new set of quints last year, for me. Everthing else in the drumline is probably about 2 years old, and in great condition. This year, we'll be lucky to get stands(for drums) that we've been wanting, because of the harsh budget that the school enforced on us. sad

which is the reason why i love the band parents, we get sooooo much money because of what they do, and the budget from the school allows us to recieve more money, so this year alone they have spent over 12000 on the band alone, sooo goood.....

I'll share a story that goes back to 1995....... I was a freshman in high school that year and had section leaders who were very relaxed and laid back compared to me. I was having trouble holding my drumsticks properly so Aaron Arnett told me to pretend I was a guy going pee and that I needed to squeeze harder.

I scratched my initials into the mold on every key lol

The only people who care about that in our band is the woodwinds. Evenb then, they seei t as an excuse to geto ut of band and hold their instrument bell-side up.
