I completely agree with the first post. I just have one question:

Do I have to daven? I'm trying to daven at least once a week now that school is out, and that's because I thought davening was a must. But if it's optional for me to do, then I'll have less of a reason to daven.

Davening shouldn't be done because it's an obligation... Davening should be done because you feel the need to pray towards G-d.

And the answer to your question - no, women are not obligated. You should still try to pray at least once a week though 3nodding !

I do want to connect with God more. But if it's not a must, my Yetzer Harah (bad side) has a much easier time of persuading me to not daven.

But in that case, do I get a sin every time I don't daven? Even if it's not an obligation, I didn't conquer my Yetzer Harah.
don't even mention yetzer ha'ra talk2hand

unless one knows exactly what one is doing, one will onely confuse and depress oneself. been there sweatdrop

Well, I've experienced the 'confusion' part.

And you didn't answer my question.

It's not a sin... You don't have to fight him in the first place for it, so if you don't do it, it's not a sin.

If you have the perfect oppurtonity to daven, and instead you sit on your lazy behind doing nothing, I believe you deserve punishment. Can you please explain to me why women don't?

(Wow, I'm going against myself in a way...)

That part is ethical, and you have to decide whether to succumb to your desires... or to fight it and pray.

The whole reason women aren't obligated to pray is because they don't have time. Even when they do have time they aren't obligated, but it certainly is pretty darn clear that they should try to do so. The rabbi's didn't say "a woman doesn't have to pray if she's busy", because businesss is relative. Instead, they removed the obligation intirely, and when the woman sees fit, she prays.

So yes, in a way it wouldn't be best to just sit on your bum xd . It's not a sin, it's just not completing yourself in your goal as becomming complete with G-d. Pray is quite essetianal. If you feel you can't pray all the time, just say your personal prayer, but be sincere. There is nothing wrong with that.
