April 25th, 2005 Dulcea's Perspective
Oh I hope Teagan calms down soon. I don't mean to stifle his energy, but I had to lock him in his room today after he attempted to eat the newest addition to the family, a little totem named Deidra. I'm sure he didn't mean anything by it, but he's such a stubborn child.
About an hour after I put him in he threw a fit. I nearly yelled at him, he can be so... Persistent. But I can't just give in and let him get what he wants, can I? I think he's still teething, he's been so irritable the past few days. He had a little fever last night, but it's gone down now, so I suppose he's alright. But what if I'm wrong? Maybe one of the people at the Project House will know what's wrong.

April 26th, 2005 Teagan's Perspective

Why is Momma so upset? Did I do something bad? She got me a kitty last night, she said it reminded her of the cat she had when she was little, and that I could name it whatever I want. But I don't know what would be a good name for him. I think I'll call him Maxie, that's a good name I think.
I wonder why we haven't gone to see Auntie and cousin Shouko in a while, maybe they don't like me anymore? I hope they do, I miss cousin. Momma's calling me for something, maybe it's lunch! I'm hungry, I really hope it's lunch.

April 28th, 2005 Dulcea's Perspective
Something strange is going on, I just can't shake the feeling that something is wrong with Teagan. The doctors didn't find anything on the tests, but he ran another fever tonight. I gave him a cold bath, and it went down, but still, I can't help but think it might be something I'm doing wrong.
I think he might be having nightmares. Maybe they're what's causing the fevers. It would make sense, I mean, didn't someone in the project say something about a fire? After all, his temperature never rises until after I've put him to sleep. I don't know what I'm going to do about it. Maybe I ought to take him to see a child therapist.

April 29th, 2005 Dulcea's Perspective
So, his nightmares could be causing his fevers? Still, I can't help but think there's a medical problem triggering them, so tommorow he goes in for a bone marrow sample. I know it's a little extreme, but I just can't shake the feeling that their might be something cureable behind it.
He seemed to feel better when he was playing with his cousin, but he might have just been putting on a strong front for her. Maybe it's that smell she emits, he seems to like that. I don't know. Tonight it looking good though, he's been asleep for three hours and there's no sign of nightmares or his fever.

April 30th, 2005 Dulcea's Perspective
So they did the bone marrow test today, the preliminary results were negative, so that's one relief, but I won't get the in depth results for a few weeks. Teagan seems to be sleepy soundly now, but that might be an effect of the painkillers they put him on. They said it'll help with his nightmares as well as the soreness from the test. I hope they're right, I was a little worried about his lack of sleep, it could be bad for his growth later on.
They seemed a little worried that he might have a protein deficiency because he doesn't eat meat or dairy. But what am I supposed to feed him? So instead of finding something natural to replace it, the doctor's prescribed a regimen of vitamins. They say he should be alright, so I'm feeling a little better, but still. I guess I'll be a little antsy until I get the results back.

May 2nd, 2005 Dulcea's Perspective
Today was rather uneventful, he hasn't run a fever since Friday, so that's getting better I hope. He's been having a little trouble walking, but the doctors said that might happen for a few weeks after the biopsy. I'm thinking of introducing him to one of my newest charges, a young Phoenix child by the name of Kyuu. Perhaps the two would get along, after all, Kyuu's got the same energy level as Teagan.
Well, maybe not as hyper, but certainly as enthusiastic. He fell at the project house today, and it really seemed to upset Shouko, maybe she isn't used to seeing him weak like this? I know I'm certainly not. But it'll all be over soon.

May 3rd, 2005 Dulcea's Perspective
Well we just got home, went on a little trip today, I took Teagan to meet some of my charges that don't live with me in the apartment. I think it went well, Kyuu didn't try to kill him. They actually seemed to get along, and good news, I just took his temperature and it's normal, and he's been asleep for about three hours. Well, he might have woken up for a few minutes when I brushed his teeth. I'll have to teach him to do it himself one of these days, but later, he needs to rest, he has enough trouble keeping his shoelaces tied as it is.
One of his doctor's left a message while we were gone, most of the tests they've done so far are negative, so that's a relief. I'm not that worried anymore, it seems Lena was right, all he needed was a little distraction to keep his mind off the fire. Perhaps I should find a hobby for him.

May 4th, 2005 Dulcea's Perspective
Good news and bad I suppose. The good, Teagan seems to like sugar cane. A lot, and it's easy to hide his vitamins in. The bad news, the newest toddler, Madeline, has spider legs that look remarkably like sugar cane. So today while I was away getting a first aid kit to redo his dressings, he decided to snack down on them. Not a stunning first impression if I do say so myself.
Though I've had worse myself, I once broke someone's nose with my staff the first time I met them. Actually, they turned out to be a good friend, but that's beside the point. I suppose I'll have to teach him some basic manners now. Starting with number one, no eating of the other Edens.

May 6th, 2005 Sometime past Midnight Dulcea's Perspective
Alright, so apparently, it is possible to stay awake for forty-eight hours on nothing but coffee and screams. It's not comfortable, but it's possible. Teagan threw a rather odd fit today, something about losing one of his toys. I told him to look under his bed, but I don't think he heard me.
The doctor called again today, everything's looking good so far. We didn't get a chance to go out to the project house today, but I was looking into getting a pet for Teagan to take care of by himself. Something a little less needy than the cat. A fish perhaps.

Quest TimeA small letter from the Project is inside your mailbox today ! To Dulcea Hello Ul, As we've found out a little task helps our children to develop. So I thought we'd like to help your Teagan as well. He'll be just as successful as the other two, I'm secure.
Seeing that he has been with you a lot lately ( because of his sickness ) we decided that it would be good for him to be with different children. So your task is to bring Teagan into a kindergarten and let him stay there alone for a while. It should help him to make some friends and to learn to be without his mother.
Probably tell him to bring something self-made home. It may be a painting or just a coloured stone, whatever he wants to bring you. So it will be a positive experience for the little one ^^.
~Lena [ Please follow the quest rules while doing this. As mentioned you don't need to buy an item, you can also describe or draw it on your own. You have to work on this quest for at least one week time now and you should make at least four entries about it. ]

Quest Time, Part One The Letter, a rather interesting Mother's Day
"Bills, bills, card from Aine, and.. What's this? From the project? Let's see.." Ul mumbled, pulling the paper out of the envelope. "So... School?" she mused, casting a look over toward Teagan that at the moment sat in the den with his toys, scribbling happily as he talked to them. "Right, school would be a good change of pace for him." She leaned against the doorway, watching him as he played, it was nice when he was quiet like this. But, it was always nice to see a smile on his face. Especially now when she was so worried about him. The doctors had called back this morning, nothing had shown up on the tests, and he was perfectly fine.
"MOM!" came a breathless scream as the door swung open. So much for quiet. She spun to face the sound, "Edward? What's wrong?" He stood with his hands on his knees, breathing heavily, "It- It's Envy, the. The babies, they're here!" Ul fought back the urge to squeal, "Really?" He nodded, a smile bright on his face, "Really! I'm.. I'm a dad" he stated, his voice a little strained, still more than a little shocked by the fact no matter how many times he repeated it. She stood there with a wide smile, silent for a moment, "Well don't just stand there! Come give me a hug!" she called, holding her arms out to him. After a brief hug she felt a tug on her pant leg and looked down to see Teagan looking up at her with wide eyes, "What oin on?" he asked curiously, his eyes moving from his mother to one of his older siblings.
"I'm going to head home. Happy Mother's Day!" Edward called, jogging out the door. Ul nodded to him as he left and then knelt down next to Teagan and pulled him into a hug, lifting him off the ground as she stood up. "Well, your brother has kids of his own now, and you know what, tommorow you get to meet them and then you get to go to a really fun place with lots of other kids" she told him as she carried him to his room, it was past his bedtime and he'd have an early morning tommorow. He looked confused, not quite sure what she meant, "Fun place? Like wif Sho and Waven?" he asked, thinking about how fun they all were.
"Well" she continued, laying him down in the gated bed, "Sort of, but different kids, kids you haven't met before. He looked confused again, not sure he liked the sound of it, "Whewe?" She leaned against the side bar, smiling down at him, "In town, it's called school, I think you'll have fun. Now, you get some sleep, you've got a big day ahead of-" she trailed off, amused when she noticed he'd already fallen asleep.

Quest Time, Part Two There's A First Time For Everything
"Come on baby, calm down" Ul cooed, pouring water over the boy's head as he splashed around in the tub, trying to imitate her words, "Coaba Kada!" he squealed, tossing a washcloth at her. She blew a piece of hair out of her face and stuck her tongue out at him. "Now now, you keep being silly like this and I might just have to climb in there with you!" He giggled, shaking his head to spray water around the room. "Teagan!" she yelped, shielding her eyes with her arm. She flashed him a wicked smile, setting the jug down on the ground, "You asked for it little guy!" she laughed, plopping down into the tub with him, ignoring the fact that her clothes were quite heavy when they were wet and that she had splashed a large amount of water over onto the floor. Oh well, she could clean that up later, right now she had to clean Teagan.
Ul wrestled the boy still, putting him in a bit of a headlock as she washed his hair a second time, it tended to get pretty greasy, so it needed a good scrubbing before he met new people. After a little while and a few more splashes she managed to lift him up out of the water and set him down on the bath mat, a fluffy towel draped around his shoulders. "Ah kean!" he squealed, spinning to face him mother who still sat in the draining tub. She smiled, turning him around again, "Go ask Roscoe to get your clothes ready ok baby? I'll be out in a minute to help you get dressed."
He nodded, running out the door yelling for the older boy, "WOSGO! HEPME! MOMMASAYS!" Ul looked defeated, mumbling to herself as she pulled herself up and out, "Well I coulda done that." Wow, wet denim was heavy. She trudged into her own room and changed into a sky blue blouse and dark jeans. Well, it wasn't perfect, but it would do, she thought, putting on a bit of mascara as carefully as she could, though she still nearly stabbed herself in the eye when a scream broke the silence. "MOM! THE LITTLE BRAT BIT ME!" So much for a peaceful morning.
She sighed, at least it was nearly over, that was a small wonder. They all sat around the breakfast table in silence, the only speech the occasional complaint or comment from one of the older charges. Ul was feeding Teagan for a change, it would be a shame if he got himself all messy again, he looked so cute with his hair fluffed and his clothes clean. "Nummnumm baby" she cooed, amused by how he always chomped down on the spoon regardless of what was in it.
Finally, the morning hassle was over with minimal stains, but still, she couldn't help but wonder as they stood outside the school, being passed on all sides by children the same age and older than Teagan, all of them completely human, all with families that seemed perfect. She bit her lip, her family had never been like that, they'd never even pretended to be perfect unless they were trying to impress someone. She shook her head, today was Teagan's day, not hers, but still how would he react to these "normal" children? And how would they react to him? The schoolyard was nearly empty by the time she gathered enough courage to walk him inside.
"Hello! How can I help you?" Chirped the rather cheerful secretary, looking up from what appeared to be a romance novel. Ul paused for a moment, looking over to Teagan who was currently entertaining himself by gnawing on a block in the corner, "My name is Dulcea Russo and I'm here about my son Teagan. I called yesterday about him attending kindergarten classes for a few days." The secretary nodded, doing a bit of a double take when she noticed his ears and tail. Ul shifted anxiously, unsure of how to respond to this, "He's.. He's special." The woman handed her a packet of papers and a map of the school adding simply, "I'd noticed" before she went back to reading her book.
Ul double checked the classroom number, opening the door gingerly. The teacher and most of the class looked over, causing Teagan to shy behind his mother. Why were they all staring at him?

Quest Time, Part Three Momma, do I have to stay here?
"Um.. Hi" Ul started, a faint blush hidden by her tan complexion. Maybe they should have come earlier, they looked like they were in the middle of something. "I'm here with my son Teagan, the person at the front desk told me to come here?" The teacher set the marker he'd been writing with down and walked toward them with a hand extended. "Ah, right. My name's Jeremy Young." he added. He was moving fast, Teagan thought, his ears alert and still as he peeked out from behind Ul's legs.
She shook the man's hand, returning his cheerful smile. "Nice to meet you Mister Young." He leaned over, hands on his knees and looked straight into Teagan's eyes, "So, you want to go to school, aye little one?" he asked, only half expecting an answer from the boy.
Teagan simply stared at him and blinked, the rest of him remaining stock still. Ul watched him for a moment, then turned back to Young, "Would you mind if I stay for a little while? He's a little shy." Young nodded, getting down on his knees so he was at eyes level with the boy, "Not at all, but I do have a little concern. Does he always wear the headband? I think it might be a little distracting to the other students. Teagan scrunched up his face, twitching his ears to try and figure out what the silly man was talking about. "Heban?" he asked, looking up at his mother curiously.
She paled, not quite sure how to answer the question, "It um.. They're.. They're not fake, those are his ears," she started, gnawing on her bottom lip, "They- They didn't tell you much about him did they?" she asked, twirling a finger so Teagan would turn around and show the man his tail. The toddler nodded and did as he was told, flicking his tail proudly. Not many people had a tail, well not many Edens had a tail, he didn't know about human people, but Momma had told him they didn't. Young took a step back, trying to mask his surprise with a confused expression, "So... Is he dangerous?"
Ul shook her head and whispered something to the man that made him head back for the board with a nod. She knelt down in front of Teagan and rummaged through her bag, pulling out a pair of black wire framed sunglasses. Lowering her voice to a whisper she put them in his hands and smiled, "You remember that movie you watched with Roscoe? Well these are the magic glasses baby. If you feel uncomfortable you can put them on and all these people won't be able to see you until you take them off." The toddler nodded and put them on with a look of wonder, then gripped his mother's hand and started to walk into the room.

Quest Time, Part Four Momma, I'm Alright
Two plus two is four. Six plus four is ten. Ten plus ten is twenty. Can someone spell twenty? That's right, t-w-e-n-t-y. Very good.
"My god.. Why didn't I remember how boring kindergarten is?" Ul thought as she fidgeted in her seat, her chin resting on her arms. But it was strange, while her mind was drifting, Teagan seemed to be paying attention. He was still wearing those glasses though, maybe they made him feel safe? That was probably it, after all he'd already gotten up to answer a few questions. Maybe they were right, maybe this would be a good change of pace for him. But.. She wasn't quite sure how she would get through her days without the little ball of energy by her side. His illness was all but forgotten now, since nothing had shown up on the tests and his nightmares had ceased. So it had really all been in his head?
Momma seems tired, maybe she's having night scares? At least I think that's why they're called. They're not fun whatever they are. Teacher says I'm a "faslenair" I wonder what that means? He laughed when I repeated it, I guess it means I'm funny? The other kids aren't looking at me as much, I think the glasses are working. Maybe Momma should go home and sleep, she already looks like she's falling asleep. Maybe then Roscoe would come and pick me up.
Young clapped his hands together, startling Ul to attention to the point the she would have fallen out of her seat if she hadn't been leaning on the table. Aha! Her math teacher had been wrong, there were upsides to snoozing in class. He was saying something about lunch, she could use something to eat about now, and from the look of how he was squirming, Teagan could too.
Ul lagged behind to speak to Young as Teagan rushed after the other children heading toward the cafeteria, the sunglasses still firmly on though he didn't even seem to be aware of them anymore. The teacher walked at a steady pace with her and paused for a moment before he spoke. "Your Son," he started, not quite sure what he was trying to say, "I think he'll be fine with the others. So, you don't have to stay if you don't want to."

Quest Time, Part Five Let's Go Home Baby
Three hours, just three more hours. Ul fidgeted in her seat, what if he was upset? What if he missed her? Maybe he wasn't old enough to be left there by himself yet. Her mind was racing and her imagination certainly wasn't helping to calm her down. She pulled on her headphones, and hit shuffle, maybe a little music would keep her mind off it. No such luck. Ul nearly had to hold back a yelp at the first song that played, P.O.D.'s Youth Of The Nation.
Meanwhile Teagan was happily painting with his new friends, well they were supposed to be painting, but more of the bright colors were ending up on each other than on their papers. "Bloo!" he squealed, chucking a little handful of blue paint at the paper. "Owange!" screamed one of his friends, and threw his own little handful at the already splotchy artwork. "Red!" squealed one of the others, adding the color with surprising vigor.
Ul paced around the room, nearly chewing her nails down to the skin. Roscoe came out of his room with a towel over his head and watched her for a moment, then turned his head to look for Teagan, "Hey, where's the little monkey?" She shot him an angry look, "Don't mess with me today boy!" He continued drying his hair and walked toward the kitchen, "Whatcha so uptight about aye?" She tossed a pillow from the couch at him and stormed out the door, "Just- Just, nothing ok!" He simply shrugged it off as a bad mood and went back to trying to find something to eat.
Young pulled Teagan aside and told him he would be leaving a few minutes early. It wasn't that big of a deal, just ten minutes so that he wouldn't get caught up in the mess of trying to find his mother in the carpool. Ul stood waiting in the door Teagan gathered up a few pieces of paper and scrambled toward her. So he was alright, it had all been in her head. He was fine without her there, so why did she feel like running until her legs gave out?
"Momma!" he squealed, shaking her out of her trance as they were walking home. "What baby?" she asked, flashing him a cheerful smile. He unrolled the papers he had brought from the class, "Dis one, dis one I did all by mysef! And, and dis one eveyone heped with so I'd emember dem!" he squealed, jumping to hold them in front of her face. She looked at them for a moment then lifted him up of his feet, "They're beautiful baby"
