I am glad for all you girls that are getting jobs that involve games! Truely am because I don't see any girls and any of the game stores I stop in. Though hopefully I can score a point for us gammer girls as well. Put a lot of demo reels and resumes in recently and got done with an interview the other day with Page44 ( they worked on the godfather) and just got a call from Backbone ( they did Death Jr.) and several others am waiting for. But possibly it is looking good for one of the artist jobs and another for assistant producer.
I will say game stores are a step towards the game industry. You get to see first hand what sells and what doesn't. Who comes years later to get some games that can only be found used and what not. And some of you I have seen some nice artwork from my browsing. Uh.. Keep it up! Cause we need more girls in the companies, both retail and other.
Several of my guy friends who do work at various companies tell me there is only one or two girls out there, and most end up not doing the artwork or the creative process of story. They are sale reps or marketing cause there isn't much of us out there. ( Sorry if I would like a motivational speaker about now. I just want to see more girl hyped up about any game related job. I am sooo happy for the girls that got into gamestop on this thread! ) But just want to ecourage you all to push even more, try our for those game contest or try different classes offered at community colleges or find colleges that offer the degrees that help you get in further if you want. Or at least find friends who are in there and give them feeback. Uh... ok it's past 3am, I rambling too much so gonna go!

Nienna of the Valar I'm the only girl working at either of the two main GameStops in the Frederick area. surprised I'll be dressed for work, and wearing my nametag and everything, and people still come up to me to ask me if I really work there. xd OMG I LOVE YOUR EDDIE IZZARD SIG!! That rox! I want to steal it.... stare ninja whee

I've seen plenty of girls working in gaming shops... in the Clark County, Washington GameStop's there r like 4 girls working in each one... although i think two of them only work there cuz the husbands work there also...

I already work, at Candian Tire......not much for games there ....... none actually.
But this job is paying for my futuure tavelling adn education, mainly the AI College in Burnaby, I'm going to take some game Design courses.

I wish I could work at GAME . . . but it's such a popular place to work, they have open days whenever they're looking for people.
Maybe I'll just try and get into Toys'R'Us . . . . they sell games, so it's close enough. I'll just have to learn to 'deal' with little children.

occasionally when buying games at gamestop i'll be hassled by guys who are like, so are you buying for someone else? what are you doing here? but you're a girl
i always applaud their ability to state the obvious

i work at gamecrazy and people ask me if i really play games. It really irritates me. Of course i play games. they wouldnt hire me if i didnt in the first place. And just because im a girl people automatically ssume i dont like them. domokun

[If I go to any Game shop people just stare D:]
[I've never seen a girl working there, and although they'll talk to other customers they avoidtalking to me D:]
[(I think the only reason no-one maskes coments is 'cause my apparence can be a little scaryXD)]
[So, it's good that girls have started to work there^^]
[At least people will start to recognize that girls can do things other than "Girly" things]

I love gamestop... it's undoubtedly the best place to buy games. I buy just about all of my games there..even though, I usually go for the used ones. Why spend forty bucks on a new game when you can get it used for 20 with the same playability??
Most games I get are so scratched I have to take them to get polished. sweatdrop
Crazy people...lol
[I'm fairly sure that's illegal. They have to have some policy on returning games? D:]
[I have a friend that tried to buy a *very* scratched game and wasn't even allowed toXD (It had n case and obviously didn't workD smile ]

I work in a national department store here in canada. The one i work at happens to have almost only female workers. The last time a male associate worked in our Home Electronics was 7 years ago. In my store other employees ask me for my help when customers have tech questions. I can't say that I have to deal with customers thinking that that I lack knowledge in the area. I talk to them and they usually figure out quickly that I am not clueless. I love talking to other gamers that come in, about video games of all sorts. Anyway that's my experience in working with video games.

It would be cool if I could work at a game store, but the only one we have is EB Games and they (at least the one we have) cheat you from your money. You can buy a game their for like 17.00 or something, but if you want to return it, they dont give you back all your money and sell it for more >.< But GameStop is kewl! ^_^
