I didn't ever see the movie but I know what they said in it so everybody comes up to me (knowing I'm in band and they're not) and say "One time at band camp" then they want me to say something gross that happened. Nothing gross has ever happened at our schools band camp. That stupid movie killed the meaning of band camp and now I won't talk about band camp because that stupid movie ruined the point of telling stories.

My entire band has a sort of camp for four days in the summer, where we go at about nine in the morning and come home around six. If that counts as band camp, then...
It's not that awkward, in my school, to tell band camp stories in that manner, since one out of ever six or seven people is in the band.
I haven't seen the movie, so maybe I'm just oblivious...?

I have avoided watching that movie so for the longest time I had no idea the story behind that line. I don't hear it often anymore, but when I do I just roll my eyes. People aren't so stupid to think that anyone actually does that with a flute or any instrument for that matter. It would probably kill you. I know I wouldn't want my flute in any position like that. It goes to my mouth and only my mouth. sweatdrop

I play trumpet so i know how yall feel.I found some jackass about to fart into a trumpet in the band room.Wasnt even his trumpet it was a school trumpet and the guy was a football player. I ran up and grabbed the trumpet and wacked the guy upside the face with hit.I got suspended for three days but i felt a pride in my suspension.Plus,when i got back from my suspension i could now play all me music.

maicuu How many flute/piccolo players got a lot of cr@p from people when American Pie came out?!
I couldn't escape idiots asking if I'd ever done what Allison Hannigan's character says she did in the movie. So gross.
What did you say to their stupid comments?
Feel free to vent your anger here. I've never saw that movie but I did get the joke one time at band camp....... thing a lot..... my section likes to act like lezbos to freak people out ((its funny actually because when we have sectionals we go in the uniform closet and we always say stuff like oh so your finally coming out of the closet huh? wink and our section leader always told people to join our flute orgie and I told that to some kid I was hanging out with once and he said oh so you ((um... well I refuse to type it)) and I was all eek I was scared for life and I never made that joke again. the end

American Pie is an insult to band geeks all over. evil
The trumpet part I, being a trumpet, find the most insulting.
In fact, all the parts of the movie are insulting... the English horn one... It makes me want to throw up. Okay, not really. I'm mostly tolerant to nastiness. confused It's still a pretty vulgar insult.

I don't know what else to start a story about band camp eith other than "One time at band camp." I swear every frickin time i'm telling a story and I start it off like that people think I do that on purpose.It's so frustrating

that movie stereotyped that basically all band kids are sexually active. Its really insulting. I have band friends that say to me about people they have met that saw the movie saying "Is it true what they say about band kids?" meaning the sexually active thing and my band friends go "Oh like they can kick your a**? oh yeah we can do that no problem" mrgreen

iv NEVER been to band camp but now my parents whont let me go cause of ap i HATE itthat because of a movie i cant go but i always say"one time at band camp ......................" and then what ever.

Would someone mind giving me a . . . PG recount of what happened in American Pie that has to do with band geeks? Whenever I say "One time at band camp" or any variation (Ex - "At band camp last summer . .") people always laugh and are like haha one time at band camp. And I just look at them funny and say "What?" and they just sort of avert their eyes and say never mind. I don't get it crying
