*cough* i loved the wild magic series >.> although i remember numair as more old and pervy than romantic blaugh

Lullz, oh Numair! I haven't read the series in ages (but believe me I certainly reread The Immortals series LOADS of times) but I kind of agree...but then I had hoped (and kinda knew) from the very beginning of the entrance of his character that he and Daine would end up together. -shrug-

what drew me in so much was the actual concept of 'wild magic'. i loved how it was described, it was a totally new concept to me. here i was, fresh from my huge binge on various mythologies and folk tales and this new kind of magic hit me like a ton of bricks. i really liked how instinctual it was.

I also loved the idea of Wild Magic and that's what initially drew me in as well. With the help of the fact that my mother's boss, who I've always looked up to, was the one that had given me the book as a present, so I was all "MUST READ!" And of course fell in love with the series.

Sooooooooooo, Gogol Bordello, did you know he's in the movie Everything is Illuminated? I had no idea until recently. 3nodding

It's a movie with Elijah Wood where he goes to the Ukraine in order to find out who the woman in the photograph with his now dead grandfather is. And the character that Gogol Bordello plays is his tour guide. =)

I love the movie bunches. heart

Haha, yes, well. He's quite a nerdy one through out this film. It's amusing, emotional, etc. All the good stuff. -wants to watch it sooooooooooo bad now-

soooo, i don't know if anyone has come across this on their webnets yet, but i definitely want everyone who reads this to go check out The Music Genome Project - Pandora. it's an amazing internet radio station of sorts, but with a twist. you punch in an artist or song title that you want to hear, and you get to listen to that song first. and then the radio goes and finds another song that's very similar in musical aspects to the one you listened to, but from a completely different (and maybe new to you) artist and plays it for you. and then back to something familiar, and then something new after that! you can only fast forward 6 times an hour, but it's great fun for checking out new artists and stuff. their music collection i believe is based on their users who are signed up with the site, so you can find tons of obscure stuff there!

Yay Pandora! heart I'm there every now and then, when I'm in the mood for new artists, ya know? Or when I just want to listen to a radio. Hehe. I love Pandora.

Haha, isn't it always refreshing when you see someone else that knows what you're talking about? biggrin

Mmmm, I'm a big fan of The Police. If only I'd been employed properly when Bonaroo rolled around! Oh well!

woah... i just realized that although i've visited this thread before, i haven't posted in it, which is weird because music is teh awesomez.

so i've got pretty diverse tastes, so i'll kinda list the genres, and a select few bands, and if anyone wants to talk about any bands/genres please PM me! smile

alright so my favorite genre is heavy metal, and my favorite subgenres are black metal (gorgoroth, emperor), death metal (nile), thrash/speed metal (slayer, exodus, kreator), folk/viking metal (tyr, finntroll), doom/sludge metal (black sabbath, saint vitus, noothgrush), and NWOBHM (iron maiden, saxon, judas priest)

other than heavy metal i like punk (richard hell, the ramones, the stooges, the adverts), folk punk (flogging molly, gogol bordello), hardcore (dead kennedys, minor threat), classic rock (bruce springsteen, bob seger, deep purple, led zeppelin, the who), acid rock (cream, jimi hendrix, the doors, pink floyd), rock 'n' roll (chuck berry, buddy holly), shock rock (alice cooper), the blues (howlin' wolf, bb king, big bill broonzy), jazz (louis armstrong), classical (beethoven), american folk (bob dylan, simon and garfunkel), outlaw country (johnny cash, waylon jennings, willie nelson), grunge (nirvana, alice in chains, soundgarden), traditional folk music (especially irish and celtic folk), some ska/reggae (sublime, slightly stoopid, jimmy cliff), humorous stuff (tenacious d, flight of the conchords), post-rock (mogwai, explosions in the sky, sigur ros), and a bunch of other stuff. seriously, odds are that if you play it for me, i will like it, unless it is emo/screamo, disco, techno, or rap. and there are even some techno and rap songs i don't mind.

i also play both guitar and bass guitar, although i'm much better at guitar. i've also picked up a banjo and begun learning that lol
