Jumar whenever the guys change into their uniforms at our school, its traditional to sing at least one popular song or jingle from a commercial. last night was no exception. i started singing that rocky spin off commercial that goes GLEN. GLEN GLEN GLEN. GLEN GLEN GLENNN. glens the man going to work..... and so on. but last year we sang west side story alot. Ohh, last year West Side Story was our half time show! And this year at the new band I'm in we played the Rocky song that your Glen tune goes to up above, lol.

Ok our band is ok, we have a tradition of playing a little bit before our curtain rises, and on the bus to competitions we play madd libbs. xd When the curtain is lowered after the performance, We get to scream stuff out to the audience like "LOVE YOU MOM!!!!!!" It's good, we never go over the top though, were in a strict school. The seniors don't do much on the bus to competitions they just usually play their instruments until they get to the competition

Purely Pretense Edit: Oops, I didn't see the other tradition thread, so let's alter this one a little bit... Yeah, my band has some awesome traditions. One involves that seniors go commando underneath their uniforms for their last field tournament. Last time, my junior year, it was raining outside, and we usually change on mats outside of the bus. But, since it was raining, we had to change on the bus, and our chaperones could give a crap if boys are with girls and so on. So there we all are changing on one of the busses together with a temporary little barricade between the two halves, when someone on the girls' side trips and pulls the barricade down with her. Complete silence. Everybody is frozen, eyes staring anywhere but at each other, faces like eek , as one person slowly puts the barricade back up... Another one involves having certain themes for our Tuesday Night Rehearsals. Such themes like: Glitter Night, Goth Night, etc... So, one question to go with my entertaining story: 1) I really need some ideas for TNR themes. Any suggestion is welcome. One night we even had Pimp and Ho Night. sweatdrop OMG!! themes: super hero night, gheto night, Hawaiian night, hick night, western night, and movie charater night. we did a couple of these thems in my band. we have TNRs too but ours are on Thursday nights. A tradition that my boyfriend told me about was that all of the freshmen percussionists get a prank pulled on them. His cousin was shuved into a drum cubby- which gave him his nickname, Cubby.

all right, this didn't really happen on the bus but on the feild......
My fresman year at state, one of the color gaurd girls forgot her second bra (she had like double d's or something) and totally fliped out. Ms. E still made her march and it was really windy that day. so right in the middle of our performance she ran off the field because she had a wardrobe malfunction. eek

As far as I know, no one on our buses has ever been naked, but if for only a moment the entire bus was silent, you'd hear some.... interesting things going on in the back. One year we did use one kid's cell phone record feature to do a documentary about one of our flutes.... A 12 part series on "The Truth about Victoria." We even had a Band Director's Commentary.

I didn't think we did...then I remembered! Last April, we had a band trip to Boston. It was after the banquet dance thing, and it was like 10 pm. We were getting ready for our all night bus ride. Of course, we have to change out of our 'fancy' clothing (it was a semi-formal...we were not informed of this...). We had two buses, one for the grade nines and tens, and the other for elevens and twelves. At this point, it became a girls bus and a guys bus. However, the windows are big, and the lights had to be on. We put up 'walls' for ourselves...but lets just sat that there were a few...slips. The guy I liked at that point was on the other bus. Of course, my friends on the bus just had to point out the fact that he was changing...I had wanted that to be a secret...

Our seniors did that this year too, thankfully, we dont have kilts, because it was pretty windy at that last game. another one of the traditions is that they only march in their socks and that when we finish our song before we march, all the seniors get to strike a pose xd its great. the field was all wet so all the seniors were freesing their asses off, it was hilarious(for those that werent commando with wet feet) ^^

OK last year on the bus next to us at the Yakima marching band compition there were two kids have sex. One of our flutes pointed it out. The sex kid's chaperones didn't see them. We all wondered just how.

eek Wow. I'm in eighth grade and no one (that I know of) has had sex on the band buses, but then again I could be wrong. We do have quite a few rather, erm, *enthusiastic* kids in our band, if you get my drift.
