Iguanas are Cool
Amaya Vaughan
Amaya had settled into her normal routine, just trying to keep herself busy to keep from going insane. Though she still wasn't really happy with where her life was going... obviously, she now didn't really care.
From the talk with Awen, the green iguana had came to a conclusion that when she hit her last change then they would probably perform horrible experiments on her before putting her down. How else would new people keep getting on the island? Eventually the whole place would be overun with duplexes.
But for now Amaya wasn't thinking about the future. All that was on her mind at the moment was the need for food. A salad sounded nice. Like it always did. She wished she was able to miss eating other foods, but she was starting to forget what some of them tasted like.
Walking towards the cafeteria, she slowly pushed the door open to peek inside.

Cody Archer
Cody was still in the cafeteria, finishing off a second slice of chocolate cake. No wonder Colche liked it
He heard the door creak and saw what looked like a human sized lizard trying to sneak inside. He wasn't scared though, it must be another animal-person the island seemed populated with
He waved a greeting, feeling too shy to talk to someone he didn't know

Amaya Vaughan
The girl blinked once she caught sight of the little boy, wincing slightly despite the small wave given to her. What was a kid doing on the island by himself? Were the doctors that heartless?
Well... yeah.
Hesitantly Amaya came inside, making sure her tail was inside before the door closed behind her. "Uh... hi." Came her timid voice before she offered a forced smile and fidgetted with her fingers before going over to the food.

Cody Archer
Cody looked amazed at the girl's lizardly features, specially the hands, the scales and the tail. She was a lot more advanced than Thom
"Hi... I'm Cody"
"Hi... I'm Cody"
Amaya Vaughan
The lizard could tell he was kind of staring, but tried her best not to notice it. She grabbed a bowl of salad and a bottle of water, looking back at the little boy when he spoke up. "My names Amaya... Uhm..."
Amaya bit her bottom lip. "I can leave... if you want." The kid didn't look that scared, but she didn't want to stay if she was scaring him at all.

Cody Archer
Cody had half a smile playing on his lips. To him reptiles were one of the coolest creatures on earth... except for turles, but those were boring
"Leave? Why?"
"Leave? Why?"
Amaya Vaughan
"Well, I dunno if I'm scaring you or not... though you seem okay with how I look..." The teen looked down at the bowl in her fingers. "Sometimes new people see me and run away screaming."
Amaya trailed off, glancing back over at him. "You know what's going on then?"

Cody Archer
"Why should I be scared? Lizards are cool" he shifted on his seat so he could have a better look at Amaya "Ambose was afraid I'd be afraid of him too. But I wasn't. I said real werewolves only come out during full moons... the scary ones"
He stoped his conversation at the second question, pondering a bit "I think so. Aubrey said there were animal-people living here and Thom and Colche said they were changing people into animals..."

Amaya Vaughan
"I see... Thom and Colche were telling the truth." The reptile took a few steps closer until she was standing by the table. She set her bowl down, looking at him with a sad expression. "What did they say to bring you here?"
Cody Archer
"I came here to try a treatment for my MS"
He was a bit distracted, looking at her scales. He wanted to touch and feel the texture but it wasn't polite to approach people like that

"MS?" Amaya blinked, having never heard of it before. The kid seemed alright, though...
Looking down she pulled out the chair next to him, spinning it around before sitting on it backwards. Her long tail slid off the back and rested on the floor behind her.
She loved children, though he was only about... 5? 6 years younger then her? And it had been a long time since she had talked to someone younger then her. The iguana found comfort in the fact he wasn't scared of her and actually held general interest in the little boy.

Cody Archer
"Multiple Sclerosis. Brain disease"
Cody hoped she wouldn't feel pity for him or started treating him different. He already had enough of that back home, people making him feel like an invalid
"Sorry, but... what animal are you?" he couldn't really place what type of lizard she was. He had seen iguanas at pet stores but only the small ones

"Ohhhh... I see. You seem fine to me though." The girl cocked her head to the side slightly and gave a small headbob. Green eyes then went back to her tail, the appendage that had given away what animal she was when she had changed for the second time.
"Green iguana." Amaya raised her tail to eye-level and twitched it a little while she poked at her salad with her fork, held oddly in her hands.

Cody Archer
"I look fine most of the time" he sighed "but sometimes the symptoms kick in. Numbness, shaking, tiredness, bladder problems..."
He looked at her tail and her hands again, specially when she holded the fork "Weird...but neat"

Amaya Vaughan
"Ohhhh, I see. Like a nervous system disease?" Cody certainly knew more about it then the lizard did.
She flicked her large, bright pink tongue before eating some of her salad and talking only after she had swallowed. "Yeah..." Amaya followed his gaze. "My hands are too big to do a lot of normal things now and doing everyday tasks is hard sometimes. My tail gets in the way a lot too."

Cody Archer
"Yeah. It's a real pain. No cure... though the doctors here said they found one"
He looked amazed at the way Amaya ate, though he avoided staring for too long this time
"But I bet you can do cool stuff with them, like.... I dunno, climb and paddle and stuff"

Amaya Vaughan
"I dunno how turning you into an animal will help that, but then again someone I know, Zach, grew back and arm because of it." Little did the teen know that Cody knew nothing about being turned into an animal himself.
"I guess so. Climbing is a lot easier. So is goalieing." She smiled a little at the thought of the soccer game.

Cody Archer
Only now Cody did the math. By treatment they probably meant turning him into an animal too
"You sure? I can't see how that would cure my MS. I can't grow another brain" he was pretty sure of that
"You play soccer too? I love soccer"

Amaya Vaughan
"Hopefully it will, though I can't see how either... the last thing you need is to be an animal with MS." The reptile grimaced.
"A little, yeah. We had a game the other day, I was on the one against Thom and blocked all but one of his shots." She smirked, feeling proud of herself. "He kicks really hard though, my hands stung afterwards."

Cody Archer
Cody nodded. It would suck to be an animal and have MS. But Aubrey said she was going to get him cured. She seemed certain of it
"Probably that's how he plays all the time. I had a friend who kicked the ball really hard too... and hit me on the face. Twice"

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya grimaced. "Ouch. Didn't break your nose, did it?" She questioned, seeming genuinly interested.
"And if you're brave enough you can ask Aubrey what they're turning you into on the intercoms. And ask if they'll give you pain killers or morphine or something." The green iguana would hate to see the poor guy in pain.

Cody Archer
"No, luckly. He just had a really lousy aim" he didn't want to admit how much it had hurt, him crying at the pain. Boys weren't supposed to cry
"I will. Right now" he got out of the chair, trying to look brave "I liked meeting you. You're really cool looking"
Cody dashed out of the caferia towards his duplex

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya blinked in slight surprise as he got up and declared her "cool looking" before taking off. She swallowed what was in her mouth and gave him another sad smile as she watched him leave. "Bye Cody! I'm in duplex 22!"
