sistergoldenhair Basically, it's people, usually kids, who assist the priest and other ministers in the ceromonial aspects of a church service. They carry the cross, the candles (torches), and assist with the preparation of communion. They give the offeratory plates to the usherrs, deal with insense on occasion, that sort of thing. It's lost meaning thanks to light, but it used to be that the candles helped the priest read. I think it's more of an Anglican and maybe Catholic thing.

I remember it at the Catholic Church I went to (we had to go to a special Mass thing before Christmas at the private School I went to), and I have friends who are Anglican who do it too, but they do that at the Non-Denominational Church we go to on Christmas Eve and did at the one in Spokane where I used to live. I think it is more of a Catholic and Anglican ceremony though, because a lot of other churches we've gone to haven't.

As to the question, no, I don't think it's necissarily BAD if you miss Church on Sunday (or any day of the week, for that matter), but it's not really good.

yellowsmiles Is it bad it you don't go to church every Sunday? What if your alway out of town? No, it's not. ^^ I mean it is good for you to go to church, becuase it's a good environment (depends, some Churches arent though) and to Worship God. But You can do that at home to. It really depends on how you feel about going or not, I mean I used to go with my sister and my mom, but lately I havent really gone becuase I dont like to be around alot of people, not just that, but I've been busy and all, but I do still try and do daily devotionals and I'm starting to go back on wendsdays to Church. Anyways, I just wanted to say that it's not bad if you dont go, it's just that it's good for you 3nodding heart A quote my Cousin sent me one time, "Going to Church doesnt make you A Christian amymore then being in a garage makes you a car." heart

i wouldn't say it's bad not to go every sunday, b/c i know there are a few times when i miss out either b/c of work or b/c i forget to set my alarm and sleep to long. but we should make an effort to go as much as possible b/c going to church is one of the few ways we have to have fellowship with each other so it is a good way to be able to keep refreshed so that we don't become discouraged in our walk.

I wouldn't say that not attending church is bad. However, I believe that through attending church you get to hear more verses that you might not usually consider and then analyze them for yourself. However, I really wish that I attended a more open-minded church because though I often get good ideas from it, I feel like when I try to express it they cut me off.

Link_of_Hylia I would say the only place you can converse over the bible with phyisical people in front of you is church. If you feel called go to church. If you don't want to go to church here's my message "Go!" Church is an awesome place where you worship and praise. If I could I would live in my church. wink If you are out of town all the time, go to a church near you, whether it's your denomination or not. Church rocks!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, but Camp Grady Spruce is where I feel closest to God. Church is inside, which is it's flaw. We shouldn't be cramped in a building but out on God's beautiful earth having fun which is what I like about camp.

It was called the 'Open air Tabernackle' it's where we go outside and read or Bible's for a little bit and a place for prayer but honestly, that's the part i dis-liked the most about it. I had most fun inside with the band C2. That is where I'm most in tune with God.
