Mabozi's ear flicked behind him as he heard the dust and bones be distubed as something moved across them. His head whipped away from his mother and the other hyena and faced backward. So it was the zoo hyena that was sneaking away! For a moment, Bozi's tail wagged wildly, but it quickly ground to a halt. He gave Angaza big puppy eyes, coupled with a pout,

"Tha's leavin a'ready?"

Mafa's gaze followed the direction of the conversation as it went from hyena to hyena. Finally, she nodded to Rasuli. Good old Rasuli, he always came through. The alpha felt a surge of pride in her chest for her favorite little goon, not that it showed outwardly. She then nodded to Frit, kind was not that word she would use to want to describe anything, but it did work. And of course he said great things, for there were no bad things about the pack to speak of, at least not in Mafa's mind. Lastly, she sighed, finally speaking to everyone there in general,

"That's all well and lovely, Rasuli has been doing his job, it is a job all of you will have to take upon yourself. Patrols. They're essential to the pack. It's to keep the damn lions out. I'd suggest you girls tag along with Rasuli or Yakuti for a bit, to see how it's done"

Of course, there was more to pack life than patrols, but they might as well start small. Quickly, Mafa's attention turned from the group to her son and the older male. She tilted her head, her tone of voice was harsh and cruel,

"Leaving us? Oh I wouldn't suggest it..."

Oh God, NOT THE EYES!!!

Angaza blinked, ears going parallel to form a straight line if one traced them at the top of his head. He always lost against the eyes. Always. Even then, he knew he'd done the same thing as a pup. For attention, for food.. Angaza dropped to a laying position and looked back up at Mabozi.

"Aw, kid, don' go givin' me that look! That... Aw MAN." Angaza kept looking up. "Don't pout! Then I'll pout! and then! Then!"

Angaza flattened his ears at the pup, then his mother.

"I was thinking I ought to, but I think you're kid here is talkinkg me out of it--OH WHY DID HE HAVE TO USE THE EYES!?"

Angaza made tiny whining noises.

He had SO lost that argument.

((XD As we learn the one with true power over Angaza is MABOZI... XDDDD))

Yakuti bowed his head again to Rasuli, "Thank you, I appreciate it." He said before turning to look at Angaza as he introduced himself, if you could call that an introduction anyway. It seemed that he was quite distant, as though hoping to slip away unnoticed. He had been doing quite well untill Rasuli asked who he was. So one of his new recruits was trying to leave? That wasn't good, and from what Mafa said she didn't think he should leave either.

He stood up, slightly amused that he couldn't seem to detatch himself from Mabozi, because of his eyes? Well, at least he wasn't leaving, at this point. But as soon as Mafa said they were free to do as they pleased then he could be gone never to be seen again. And with him some of his early-on credit with Mafa, but still, not much could bring down his light sense of being.

"Well look at that, it would seem that Angaza would be perfect to be Mabozi's playmate." He said with a slightly muffled laugh, "You two get along so well after all."

The very slight softening and the second longer linger in his direction was picked up by the observant Rasuli. Of course he understood that Mafa couldn't show her appriciation of him in front of the others, but he knew it was there. Just as he hoped she understood his loyalty to the pack and its cause even when he'd disappeared for the past few weeks.

Not only that, he'd also set an example to the new arrivals. Yakuti had already been told about him and this just proved Mafa held him in high regard. The only downside was that Mafa had appointed Yakuti to be a guide to the newcomers as well. Already he could see some form of rivalry brewing for the alpha's attentions but for now the pup was hardly a threat to the much larger (and wiser, he mused to himself) adolescent. He would tollorate him, so long as he didn't get any big ideas about taking Rasuli's place as favourite.

"I can show them a thing or two." Rasuli grinned knowingly, glancing at Frit. He'd already begun teaching her things and he hoped to continue. And having company on his patrols would be an unfamiliar change, but hopefully a pleasant one. He was still unsure of what to make of Schatz. She was pretty quiet.

He was musing on all this when Mafa warned Angaza. The sound of her voice quickly focused his attention and he stood up ready to act. But Angaza and Mabozi's little exchange seemed to be all it took to keep the adult male where he was. Rasuli didn't know whether to feel pleased that he was staying or unimpressed by his weak will. Obviously he didn't know the power of 'puppy-eyes'.

"Haha! A playmate would be a good job for him." He snickered. Angaza obviously wasn't that interested in the lion invasion.

The bone-marked female watched Angaza and Mabozi rather boredly. Tail flicking, she turned back to Mafa, mind already telling her that it was time to get down to business. "Is there anything you would like my sister and I to do, ma'am?" Respect your leader, she'd always been told.

Mabozi chortled at Angaza's reaction, his grin spread as wide as it could, stretching across his young face. So his new friend was going to stay after all, hip hip hooraaah! Bozi's whispy tail lashed about in excitement as he bounded up to the older hyena and nuzzled his leg with his forehead before leaping off again and trotting circles around the whole group, giggling the whole time as he did.

Mafa simply watched the scene with disdain. How could anyone be persuaded to do anything by Mabozi? He was just about as useless as the lions were, and dumb too. But it seemed like Mabozi had just managed his first recruit, and that made her slightly proud, but just on the inside.

"Grand choice, male. Looks like you'll be needing a bit of schooling too, we'll see if Mabozi can handle that..."

Hopefully, assigning Mabozi to keep an eye on Angaza wasn't a damn terrible mistake. Mabozi knew how the pack was run, hopefully he wasn't retarded enough to show the older male how things went around here. Mafa's gaze flickered over to Schatz as she spoke to her. The alpha's icy eyes narrowed in thought, there wasn't anything that she felt needed immidiate attention at the moment. With a monotonous sigh, Mafa tightened her glare and shook her head,

"Not yet, you just stick with the pack, learn what it means to be one of us, when you get that down, you'll be ready to do more"

Frittilaria's tail wagged lightly as Mafa spoke to her sister. She smiled and nudged her sisters shoulder with a soft, silent sigh at the releif of finally being a hyena. She would proove herself to be useful to Mafa she would become strong, like her mother was, become a real hyena as her father had long boasted. Finally she was to bve a graveyard hyena.

Turning her dark blue glassy gaze upon Rasulli she smiled happily her ears twitching a bit hoping he wasn't still mad at her, "I'm sure Rasuli will teach me..Us" she corrected quickly, looking embarressed, she adored her sister, and she knew they were bonded in a way that very few sisters were, but she still desired to be tauight the ways of the graveyard by the older male, her first wild hyena friend.

Yakuti flicked his ears, he didn't want to seem unhelpful, so... "If either of you would like to be taught by me, I'd be happy too. But if you want to go with Rasuli I won't object." He said, not wanting to appear to want to steal the spotlight.

Angaza grinned at the pup affectionately before getting up to follow him. He honestly didn't care for the others around; mostly they seemed to be slightly off kilter, but Mabozi was atleast a good little one, if not a bit not all there. Whatever the feale thought of him, he didn't care. But the pup, now the pup he could respect. In his mind, though, respect was a mutual thing. Whatever was being said to or about him, he ignored, almost to a point. Angaza slowly came upon Mabozi, and playfully, and even gently, nipped his tail. Perhaps he could play with the pup.

Rasuli stood, giving his alpha a respectful dip of his head. "I'm going to scout the parameter near the Pridelands, before finding something to eat. If that's alright by you Mafa." He spoke respectfully, his statement really a request to leave her presence. Not that he would normally leave so willingly but his wanderings had made him hungry and in need of a good night's rest afterwards.

"If any of the newcomers want to learn, they can join me on the dawn patrol." He looked at the three younger hyenas, his gaze passing somewhat quicker over Yakuti. The blue hyena obviosly though he knew enough to teach the girls but it was pleasing he had some respect for his betters.

He did dwell on Frit a bit longer, hoping she would pick up on the hint. Somehow he felt it his right to teach her personally, having found her in the graveyard first. And also because they were... what was the word? Friends? Yes, that was it. He enjoyed her company and would enjoy it even more if he could be responsible for her learning in the pack.

"I will tell you about our goal, our fight will the lions invading our domain. And teach you more practical things."

Frittilarias tail gave a single feathery wag as Rasuli's gaze fell upon her. She smiled for a moment and resisted bounding at him. She didn't wish to look the fool but she was so much more affectionate than her sister. "I would very much appreciate any help you could give..us.. Rasuli" she smiled happily, by us of course she meant herself. She wanted her first friend allto herself though she guessed she would have to share a little with her sister after all she was as close to her 'twin' as anyone. Still she felt a growing pride that rasuli liked ehr enought o give her the long glance and the subtle hint. "Perhaps I can meeet you after we nap" she smiles, forgetting to correct herself that time, she was excited, very excited infact to learn from Rasuli and become a great hyena capable of helping to rid the graveyard of the lion threat!

Kelello peered through a crack in an old elephant skull, staring out towards the mass of hyenas conversing with new meat.

Great, she thought, rolling her emerald eyes at the thought of more masters to tend to. Peering more closely at the crowed, her stumpy wild dog tail began to sway blissfully to and fro. More to trick, more to learn, she thought with a grin.

Her eyes dashed across the crowd until they fell upon Mafa, and Kelello yipped in fear, jumping back. Mafa would kill her if she knew the young slave was eavesdropping. The pup cringed, hoping that her yelp of terror had not be heard.

Mabozi's trotting in a circle was interrupted by the n** at his tail. It gave him quite the start and he gave out a loud yelp in surprise. The pup quickly dashed around, brows furrowed. But alas, it was only his new friend that had nipped him, not some wild beast that wanted to eat him up. Apparently, Mabozi had already forgotten that he had been trotting circles with the older male. Go figure. Mabozi's forehead quickly smoothed out as a smile spread onto his young face as he beamed up at his new companion,

"Gosh, tha scared me! Thoughts i' was a lio'!"

Mabozi's eyes got wide as he stared Angaza down. Not that a lion could ever infiltrate their little meeting, not without being torn to shreds, Mabozi was becoming more and more paranoid about them. Poor simple minded 'Bozi.

Mabozi's squeal was a convenient one for little Kelello, Mafa's freshly aquired wild dog slave. It had drowned out the sound of her squeal, causing her to go unnoticed for the time being. Her attention remained centered on her new recruits. Already, the two females were proving to be a great investment to the pack, they'd prosper here.

As Rasuli spoke, Mafa's gaze snapped to him. She answered his question with a curt nod; giving him her permission to leave the meeting, and her eyes slid back to the young ones.

"Go with whom you wish, but Rasuli is obviously more experienced. Yakuti, I'd suggest you tag around with him as well, at least for a while. Rasuli is correct, the lions must go, we need to win back our land, bring it back to being just hyena territory, just as it had been years ago. You will learn to fight for your pride, all in good time you runts, all in good time."

"Lion? Nah. Them buggers probably don't come in this deep." Angaza gave a shrug. "Actually, I thought you'd wanna play."

The older male then sat.

"Of course, sometime, I can take you out and we can sneak a view of a lion. If you're sneaky, they'd never see ya."

Yeah, Angaza definaitely had an ego. Or he thought he was sneaky. Either or.
