January 4, 2005[color=white]

Welcome to the new year, ne? This last week has certainly been interesting. Since Demare's come back home, he's managed to bite a chunk out of my hand, stab Domonic's foot, break THREE of my vases that aren't made anymore because they're EXTREMELY old, and caused me more stress than my feien have in the past 9 months. IN ONE FREAKING WEEK. What happened to my little angel? I mean, true... he's had his fits before, but this is a constant fit! I... I can't punish a baby... I just can't. And this really isn't doing much good for the baby in me still...

I needed to find something. Something that'd distract him for a while... ANYTHING. While I was out taking a walk to calm myself the other day, I bumped into a peculiar shop... some sort of forge, I think. They had a lot of machinery inside, and there were these adorable little sprockets literally flying about EVERYWHERE. They were ALIVE... Granted, I'm sure it was some kind of enchantment, but they're living machines. I bought a whole set and took them home, because I really couldn't resist them... Domonic wasn't too happy, but after about 10 minutes of arguing, we both realized something. The sprockets were swarming around Demare, and he looked HAPPY. An evil happy, but he was distracted nonetheless. I wonder what other things I could get from there...?

We've made a few trips to the HQ in the last week, as well. The first time we went, Demare didn't seem too happy about going. There was a wolf legend there... I think his name's Waya? And also a child with very long black hair. Demare called her Bre, and he seemed interested in her... Karan also showed up, but... It was strange. Demare seemed to want nothing to do with him! I wish I could have done something, but I guess things got better because when we went in yesterday, Demare was a lot nicer.

Yesterday we saw Prana again, but she couldn't stay long. Something came up and she and Faevan had to leave suddenly. Guinevere arrived not too long afterwards, and the CUTEST thing happened. I guess Demare looked upset or something, so Karan gave him a hug, and Guine joined in as well. It was so adorable!! I've never seen Demare so happy before... He even hugged them back. And... I swear I saw him blushing...

When we came home, however, Demare seemed to revert to his more "evil" self and started wrecking havoc with the sprockets. Such a strange boy, this one is... I only wish I could figure him out. I refuse to give up on him, but sometimes... I really wonder how much more of this I can take.

At the headquarters you notice a large pile of gift boxes... each box has been tagged with each of the legends.

It seems that Raven has been out and about and has discovered something wonderful. He writes in a letter attached to each gift:

i present to you a gift
something to bring you new years lift

each is different and unique
which can cause change that you seek

these are gifts you must use with care
because reversal is none awares

-raven

It seems that this gift is for you and your legend:

Neko peered down at the gray toned box with Demare's name, her eyes blinking slowly and her tail flicking curiously behind her as she wondered who had sent the gift. Someone named Raven... Who was that? Someone from headquarters? She felt something a little strange about the package, but figured it was only harmless. Her ears twitched a little bit as Domonic turned the corner from the kitchen, Demare in his arms. For once, the child was a little calm today.

"Neko? What's up?" the blonde haired man asked, noticing the demon was holding something.

She glanced over her shoulder for a moment before she finally closed the door, smiling slightly. Right... it would be harmless. After all, who'd give something harmful to a baby?

"It seems someone's sent Demare a late gift for the New Year," she explained, stepping over toward the couch to take a seat. Sitting down carefully, she felt a bit of relief to be resting her back again, feeling a little more tired than usual this evening. "Shall we see what it is?"

Demare began to eye the package once he'd heard his name being said, his eyes narrowing a little bit with disinterest. Who'd send him a gift, anyway? WHY? For some stupid holiday he knew nothing about? Whatever.

Domonic walked into the living room, moving to stand behind the couch as he gently lowered the baby to sit next to Neko on the couch cushion. Resting his hands against the back of the couch, he decided to stay and watch, his blue eyes showing a bit of concern as he hoped the child wouldn't start throwing a fit.

As Neko placed the package in front of the boy, Demare glared up at her for a moment. What if this was some sort of trick? What if they were trying to do something nice for him just so he'd calm down? Clare tried to tell him otherwise.

You never know if you'll like it or not if you don't open it, Demian, the voice echoed softly. I hate to say it, but it might be of some use to you...

Ugh... His other side had a point, he realized, lifting a brow as he looked to the gray bow. Hmph... Well, they DID go through all the trouble to get him something... If anything, he could throw it at Neko if he hated it. Grumbling a little bit, his tiny hands grasped onto the beautiful bow and ripped it off, ribbon and all. This was stupid... Demare began to claw at the paper in annoyance, tearing and ripping the color to shreds, able to reveal the top of the box. Too many things to take apart! Throwing off the lid in frustration, his bi-colored eyes glared into the box...

...and immediately he grew calm, his eyes returning to a more normal state. What... was this?

"What is it, hun?" Neko asked curiously, peering over Demare to see what was inside.

jacknblack
Inside your gift you find a myserious object:
User Image

Demare's small left hand reached into the box and grasped onto the object inside, taking out what looked to be some sort of crystallized stone. It sparkled brilliantly in the lights that brightened up the room, the light from the fireplace causing little red reflections to dance upon the blue surface. The stone felt cold in his hand, but for some reason, he didn't care. He was simply amazed by its beauty.

It's very pretty... a voice whispered in his mind. You're not going to throw it away, are you?

The child pursed his lips for a moment, holding the crystal closer to himself. There was something about this stone... It was so shrouded in mystery that he felt he had no other choice than to keep it.

Nah, he thought to himself, closing his eyes. I think I'll keep this one around.

jacknblack
The stone you recieved from Raven starts to glow as Demare holds it close to him, his pendant starts to shake and emit a strange power...

Demare's bi-colored eyes opened again as he felt something different about the stone. It was... glowing? His pendant began to shake, a bit of panic taking over his emotions. What was going on?? He grasped firmly onto the object around his waist, using whatever strength he had to get it to stop, but it proved useless as it only began to make his body tremble. Power... He could feel a strange power from his pendant.

Neko's eyes narrowed with concern, shifting slightly so she could face her child better. "Demare...?" she piped up, her ears drawing back. "Demare, sweety, what's wrong?"

Demian, something's wrong... something whispered to the baby. What did you do?

I... I didn't do anything! he cried to himself, squeezing his eyes shut. It just started glowing...!

The mysterious crystal starts to crack and glow as demare is holding onto his pendent it becomes frigid to the touch. The crystal starts to fuse with his guardian pendent! The swirling blue energy starts to absorb into the pendent.

The center of the pendent opens up to reveal an eye...however, it seems that this is only the beginning of the transformation...

User Image

Demare's head began to hurt, and he quickly released his pendant as the crystal seemed to merge with it. So... cold... What was that in the middle? His bi-colored eyes widened at the sight of the newly formed eye, his two extra red ones opening a little bit with curiosity.

Demain!! It... it's... a voice nearly screamed at him.

For the first time in a very long time, fear seemed to completely overtake his tiny form. I-is it... alive...? he asked himself, not even able to seek comfort in his guardian sitting next to him.

Neko stood as quickly as she could, but only managed to trip over the coffee table in the process. Did... Did that really just happen?? Was there an eye in that pendant Demare always wore?

Domonic, hoping the child would be all right for the moment, rushed over to the demon hanyou to help her get back up.

"What's happening?!" he demanded. "W-what kind of trickery is this??"

jacknblack
The eye looked around, and stared straight into Demares eyes...
Demare's eyes glazed over, it seems that the eye showed him something, but only flashes of images and sounds... nothing Demare recognized.

There was a horrible screaching sound comming from the pendent as it elongated and twisted around, wings sprang from the pendent and a long blade came from the top.

User Image
This dagger is now and forever linked to Demare's future.
With this blade you gain experience.

T-the eye... moved?! It was looking right at him! Looking him right in the...

Demare's whole body seemed to completely relax, the fear he'd just felt rushing out of him. His white eye remained large while his black one narrowed slightly, his two red eyes opening fully as both souls seemed to take control at once. His eyes glazed over as unfamiliar images began to flash through his mind... foreign sounds filling his ears. Was this all coming from his pendant? What was it showing him...? And why was it showing him these things?

Are they... from the past? Clare couldn't help but think to himself.

I... Demian started, but paused for a moment. ...I'm not sure.

Neko's golden gaze was unmoving from her child, her body trembling with fright as she sensed something dreadful coming next. That pendant... That wasn't anything normal. However, even Demare never seemed to really know what it was, so how had he gotten it in the first place? And was it... was it even living?

Neko and Domonic both gasped in surprise as a terrifying noise filled the air. The pendant began its final transformation, removing itself from Demare's chest to rest in his lap as the wings settled into their new shape. The light from the fire reflected off the silver blade that now was apparent, the eye continuing to stare at its master. The boy's eyes slowly returned to normal as he reached out his fingers to slide along the cool metal, brushing along the feathery wing and then the leather wing. Remarkable... Truly remarkable.

A slight smirk crawled upon his lips as Demian seemed to take back control of the body, his fingers wrapping around the hilt of the dagger. A weapon worthy of calling his own... Lifting it up off of his lap and holding it into the air, the eye blinked at him once as if happy it were happy to be of service. Splendid... MARVELOUS! He would have to be sure to thank this Raven one day the minute he got the chance to meet him for this outstanding device.

Domonic wrapped his arms protectively around Neko, already feeling the dread that just consumed her. Who would give him something like that?? He was a baby! A mere... baby...

"May God protect us all..." Neko whispered quietly, one arm resting around her swelled stomach. My God protect them indeed...

(Cross posted from Fandangle journal.)

Neko sighed quietly as she pushed the door closed behind her, shifting the small white box in her arms so she could remove her jacket. Hanging up her coat on the wooden coat rack, she leaned against the door as she tried to catch her breath, staring warily at the stairs to her right, wondering how on earth she was going to make it up them. It was getting harder and harder to walk up those steps, and she was about ready to give up and stay in the guest room until the baby arrived.

What have I gotten myself into...? she sighed, standing upright and turning toward the staircase. Better now than never, right? Grasping firmly onto the wooden rail, Neko slowly began to make her way up the stairs, one step at a time, holding the box carefully in one arm and keeping a close eye on it to make sure it wasn't in danger of falling to the floor. Once passing that obstacle, she headed toward the next hurdle; giving Demare this gift she had for him.

Neko walked onward to the end of the hall, toward the door that was only partially open so Domonic would be able to hear the happenings going on in the room while he worked in the one right across. The demon hanyou peered inside, her eyes searching the dimly lit room until she found the child she was looking for in the corner, watching the sprockets zooming about like a king looking down upon his subjects. At least he didn't look angry... Knocking on the door lightly, she opened it enough to let herself inside, hoping she wasn't disturbing him.

The sprockets froze in the air as the new subject approached, the storm sprocket immediately zipping to Neko's side, wondering about the box. Something was in there... Something good!

Demare narrowed his bi-colored eyes up at Neko, his fingers wrapping tightly around his dagger in case she would try to take it from him again. She'd been trying the last few days, after all... What would make today any different? Though, what was with the box...? It kinda looked like the last one she'd brought home that contained all the flying thingamabobs.

"Hey there..." Neko said softly, crouching down carefully to place the box on the floor in front of Demare. "I gotcha something. Since... you don't seem to have much fun around here, maybe this one with keep up company, ne?"

Demare eyed the woman as she stood back up, picking up his dagger and poking at the box a little bit with the tip. It was a trick... It HAD to be. Nothing good ever came from the stupid lady.

What is it? a voice piped up in his mind. Demian, what's in the box?

Shut up, Clare, he immediately shot back, his eyes narrowing into a little slits as he glared at the box. Two red eyes slowly opened a little above his black eye, the demon side feeling a strange presence in the room. Even the dagger seemed curious, its eye fixated on the white cardboard.

But... Demian, she's trying to be nice to you, Clare argued, almost pleading with his other half. Please, just at least a peek?

I said SHUT UP! he snapped, lifting his dagger into the air and bringing it down upon the box, the blade easily slicing the cardboard.

CLANK.

Demare's eyes shot wide open at the sound, his wings growing stiff as he dropped his weapon. Metal... There was something metal in the box?

"Demare!" Neko whined, crouching down again to inspect the familiar she'd bought for him. "Oh Gods, I hope you didn't hu--"

She stopped as her ears twitched a little bit, picking up a strange sound from the floor. A soft clicking and whirring filled the air as something began to move inside of the container, whatever it was inspecting the new slit in its temporary home.

Demare blinked a few times, leaning down a little to look more closely at the gift. She got him something living? Carefully, he placed his hands on the now ruined box and gently pulled it open, peering at its contents for a moment. ...She got him a thingamabob? STUPID!

The black wheel of the cog began to turn until it was on top of the white wheel, its green gems glowing and flicking a little bit, as if it were inspecting its surroundings. This... This was its new home? It looked very strange, nothing at all like the forge. What were with these strange creatures on either side of it? One seemed to resemble a human feline, and the other... Two colors? No, not just two colors. Two EVERYTHING. It was like some kind of split beast! However, it looked... needy. The woman simply looked too odd for it.

"State. Your. Name." it requested slowly, the red gems on the white wheel glowing as well now.

Demare crossed his arms over his chest, glaring at the cog. It was demanding HIM to speak? How dare it! Stupid thingamabob.

"STUPID!" he screamed with a grunt, narrowing his eyes again. "Don't want it!"

Neko's eyes twitched slightly, doing her best to stand upright. "Please... Give him a chance?" she pleaded with him, her tail flicking a little bit. "You seemed to like the sprockets so much, so I thought you might enjo--"

"No. WANT." Demare hissed through his teeth.

The demon hanyou sighed softly, shaking her head a little bit. "Well, Domonic isn't going to let ME keep him, so I suggest you learn to like him. For'mir will help you when you want him to... But he's under YOUR care now, do you understand?"

...She was ordering him to take care of a THINGAMABOB?

"I'll leave you two alone for now... When I come back to check on you, you'd better not have tried to break him." Neko turned around in a huff, and quickly left the room, slamming the door closed behind her. She hated being mean to him... but she wasn't going to let Demare get the best of her.

His right eye began to twitch. She was leaving him alone with this THING?! The sprockets had shot themselves into hiding after his bout of anger with his dagger, but Zee the storm sprocket had slowly come out of hiding. It began to inspect the cog, muttering intangible words to it as the bi-cog's wheels twisted and turned in place, waiting to be answered.

"State. Your. Name." it tried again, refusing to give up.

Well, he knew he wouldn't be able to ignore it forever. "Demare," he said simply, his wings twitching a little bit as he observed the cog. This one was different from the sprockets... It actually talked to him.

"User. Demare. Name. Confirmed." For a moment, the fandangle grew still, as if registering this new information. "State. My. Name."

...What? Now he had to name it?

The cog waited for a long moment before repeating itself. "State. My. Name."

Can I help? Clare asked quietly in Demare's mind.

NO. Demian sighed, closing his eyes for a moment. I'll... think of something.

Maybe you could name it after someone? Someone you used to know? Clare suggested, ignoring what Demian had just told him.

Clare...

Or maybe you could name it after one of the pets around here! I know there's someone you must like.

CLARE...

I kind of think you sh--

CLARE! It's... it's not that simple, you fool.

There was a long pause before the angel side spoke up again. I... I'm sorry. I forgot...

Of course he forgot... Clare was lucky in the fact that he didn't have to live with the horrible memories of their past. Demian, on the other hand... He remembered everything. He didn't have anyone special back then, just like now. He didn't have a family...

"Stay away from me!" Demian screamed over his shoulder, running as quickly as he could. His gold eyes showed a hidden fear of the angel rushing toward him, desperately trying to figure out what he'd done wrong.

Micheal continued onward, unsheathing his golden sword and lashing out at the demon's back. "You will pay for your sins!" he demanded, pale blue eyes furiously watching the child. "You will pay for kidnapping my brother!"

The child tripped on the ground, just missing the blade of the sword, but his wings weren't so lucky. The metal ripped and tore at the delicate leather, Demian screaming out in pain. Kidnapping...? He didn't kidnap Clare! ...How did they even know where he was?

The man reached down, grasping firmly onto the child's neck, squeezing hard as he lifted him into the air and dropped his sword. "You were a fool... Did you honestly think you could get away with it?" Micheal sneered, his large white wings flapping lightly as the approached the nearby cliff. "Who would have thought about looking HERE of all places, right? I'll give you credit... Had Clare not used his power, I would have never have found him."

WHAT?! Clare had... He summoned his brother...? Demian clawed at the man's hand, trying to pry himself lose to no avail. He'd been tricked. Clare had betrayed him! How dare he... HOW DARE HE!

"I... d-didn't..." he tried to choke out, but could only manage those two words. I didn't do anything!

"Be gone with you, demon!" Micheal cried out, looking down toward the forest now below them. "Go back to the hell in which you belong!"

"Demian!" another boy's voice screamed out. "No, Micheal! Let him go! DEMIAN!"

It was too late, however. Micheal threw the demon child down with all of his might, the boy twirling and tumbling toward the earth, filling the air with a frightful scream.

Clare rushed to the edge of the cliff, his wings spread, as he grew ready to take flight. "Demian!!" he cried out through tears, his brother taking hold of him to prevent him from falling to his own doom. He quickly threw out a hand, wanting nothing more than for his power to work again for him, though nothing could save his friend now. "NO! Let me GO!"

Micheal's eyes softened as he landed on the cliff's edge, holding the child close and trying to calm him. "Shhh... shhh... There there, now. You're safe," he whispered quietly, gently smoothing Clare's hair. "Everything will be okay now..."

Clare became a little limp in his brother's arms, his arm still outstretched to where Demian had disappeared in the trees. Tears spilled from his pale blue eyes, only one thought running through his mind. "H-how could you...?" he said softly, a bit absent minded as he tried to let everything sink in. Micheal... He killed his only friend...

"It's okay, Clare. He won't hurt you anymore..."

Hurt him? The demon boy had never done anything of the sort! "How... could you..." he said again, his sorrow slowly turning into pure anger.

"Come on," Micheal said, "let's go home." The angel tried to turn to retrieve his sword, but the boy had taken a firm grip of his arm.

"I hate you," Clare whispered in a hiss, his bangs falling over his eyes.

Micheal stiffened, his eyes growing wide. "C-Clare...?"

The child's grip only tightened, his fingers beginning to tear into the man's flesh. "I hope you
die."

Demian's fingers twitched a little bit, his torn wings shifting slightly along the ground as he stirred. His whole body ached... What happened? Wincing, he managed to open his eyes only to be blinded by the sunlight, and he painfully lifted a hand to shield his eyes. Where... was he? ...That's right. That b*****d had thrown him off the cliff. Wouldn't that have killed him, though?

Clare looked at his friend with dazed eyes, his breath shaky as his body was completely exhausted. "Y-you're f-f-finally awake..." he managed to get out, a faint smile upon his lips. There were a few red smears on his face, as if he had been trying to wipe something off.

Demian blinked slowly a few times, wondering why Clare was there. He betrayed him, hadn't he? This was another trick. It HAD to be.

"Where's your brother?" he hissed, looking away from the child as he tried to determine whether or not he could get up. It was hard enough to keep his hand up where it was...

Clare decided not to answer that, his hands forming fists in his lap. "I'm s-so glad you're okay. I w-was af-f-fraid I wouldn't b-be able t-to heal you," he stammered instead, looking toward the ground to hide his tears.

The demon's gold eyes widened slightly, taking a better look at the angel child. Blood now stained his clothes, his wings... his hands. "You..." he was about to say, but decided not to, looking away again. Why did he help him? And... didn't he say that his brother had been the most important person to him until he came to this world?

Clare, unable to retain consciousness any longer, fell sideways into Demian's lap, the smile still on his face. The demon could feel tears stinging his eyes as he lowered his hand, closing his eyes so he could rest a little longer.

"Idiot..." he whispered, before he gave into sleep.

"State. My. Name." the cog repeated for the fifteenth time. Why was the master-beast so quiet? Was he sleeping? How rude, ignoring it like that...

Hey Clare? Demian called in his mind, opening his eyes a little bit to look at the thingamabob.

Yes? the voice piped up.

I think I have a name for it.

Really?? What will you name it?

"State. My. Name."

"Micheal," Demare told the fandangle, a bit of sincerity in his voice. Its name is Micheal.

Had another been able to see him at the moment, Clare would have been incredibly pale. A-are you sure, Demian? he asked, wondering if it was a joke.

He was important to you, wasn't he? Demian sighed. ...I know it's nothing like him, but maybe this way it'll become important to us both.

There was a long pause before the voice spoke up again. Thank you, Demian.

"Name. Micheal. Registration. Complete." the cog spouted, the gems flickering in time with the slightly monotonous voice. "Greetings. New. Master."

This was going to be some day...

Domonic peered outside for a moment, swearing he'd just heard someone knock. There was nothing outside, however, and he began to wonder if the neighborhood kids were playing tricks again. Just as he was about to close the door, something on the doorstep stuck out to him. A small package--actually, a small bundle of tissue paper tied together with string--rested on the doorstep with a note underneath. Picking up the two, it didn't take him very long to realize who it was for.

"Where's Demare?" he asked the demon hanyou on the couch, closing the door behind him as he absently glanced the message scrawled out on the paper. From... Chandra? Must be another Legend. Hopefully, it wouldn't be anything like the last gift...

Neko shifted her head a little bit to look toward him, lying a bit lazily on the couch as Demare inspected his weapon beside her on the floor.

"Over here," she said a little sleepily, waving a hand in the air. "Whatcha got there?"

"A gift," he explained, stepping over to the couch and kneeling next to the arm. A bit teasingly, he held it just in Demare's line of sight, and waved it in the air a little bit. "Apparently, from someone named Chandra."

Neko snatched the note from him while he was distracted, curious as to what the girl had brought. That was the same child that knew almost instantly that Demare was more unique than he looked, wasn't she? She tried not to giggle as the child on the floor tried to snatch at the package while she read the note.

Chandra
Karan & Demare - I was told that one should give gifts to people they know. I do not know you both as well as I might prefer, but we have interacted. Your charms are virtually mirror images of one another because you remind me of each other in at least superficial ways. The gems themselves are from Death, so they should be watched carefully. Have a good New Year.

Neko blinked a few times, lifting a brow as she read it again. Gems from... death? She looked toward Demare as he finally took a firm hold of the gift, ripping it out of the man's hands and giving him a glare. That would teach HIM for teasing him...

Demare's attention turned back to the package in question, looking a bit skeptical at first. NOTHING would be cooler than his gift from... whatever his name was. His dagger was the best thing ever! He narrowed his eyes at the tissue paper before turning them toward his guardian, expecting an explanation.

When nothing came from her, he grunted with annoyance, pulling at the string that was wrapped around the gift. Insolent fool... How DARE she ignore him! Whatever. This thing had better be co-- WHAT THE HECK WAS WITH THIS STRING?! He pulled harder at it, unable to get the knot to untie, and immediately decided it was worthless. Throwing the package near the fire, he crossed his arms quickly in a huff. Stupid gift!

Micheal clicked and whirred with curiosity, twirling its way toward the package once it came out of hiding. Hmph, and Demare said he'd play a game with it... It had been waiting to be found for almost an hour now, and it's not like it was hiding that well. In fact, it was simply hid itself under the COUCH. Like that was such a hard place to look for something! Of course it wasn't. Now then... Why had the child thrown such an object?

Zee sprung out from its own hiding place, and attacked the package. Grrrr! Grrr!! It was a rampaging wild BEAST! It had to tame it before it got to its friend! BzzzzzzzZAP! The little sprocket zapped the string and paper with a small lightning bolt, no stronger than a static shock. It watched the package for a moment before turning toward Micheal, deciding it had been victorious.

Micheal was amused, but it wouldn't show it. Instead, it called for a little help.

"Phohr. I. Need. Your. Assistance." it called out in its monotonous voice, the red and green gems on its 'body' glowing slightly as it spoke.

The little cleaning sprocket zoomed toward the fireplace, squealing something intangible to the calling cog.

"See. If. You. Can. Open. This." it ordered, the white cog turning over the black one once.

The cleaning sprocket floated around the package for a moment, as if inspecting the materials. This was easy! With its pointy "arms", Phohr began to rip and shred apart the tissue paper, throwing the pieces into a neat pile behind itself. It took a few minutes of tearing, but finally it had gotten deep enough to clank against something on the inside. Treasure? How in--WHAT A MESS! Its nature kicked in as Phohr began to clean up the mess it had made, leaving the package with Micheal and Zee.

Neko's ears perked up at the sound, her attention diverting from Demare's anger and frustration to the curious sprocket and cog by the fire. Had they... gotten it open?

"Hey, what'd you guys find?" she asked, smiling a little bit. Maybe Demare would feel a little better since they did the work for him.

Micheal inspected the object carefully, twirling its way closer to the paper and trying to catch the string onto its wheel. Zee got into the package and wrapped itself around something, slowly pulling on a different colored string as it made its way out.

"He. Would. Not. Like. It." Micheal decided, hoping to trick the boy. "He. Would. Probably. Throw. It. Again."

Demare looked over his shoulder at his familiar, his eyes narrowed into little slits. How the heck would IT know if he'd throw something or not?

"He. Will. Hate. It." it continued on, not even helping Zee pull out the heavy object. Why waste its own time when the other seemed to be doing just fine? Either way, the child would probably demand to know what the object was soon enough, anyway.

That was it. Turning around, Demare feel forward onto his hands and he began to crawl on all fours toward the two, his wings fidgeting a little bit as his eyes twitched with anger. What the heck was he going to hate? Once close enough, the boy stopped and sat back down, swatting Zee away with a hand as he took hold of the colored string. Funny... the string felt a lot like the leather one around his dagger, but this one was black.

Pulling out the gift in question, his eyes returned to normal size as he inspected the new item.

User Image

A gold pendant with two gems, one red and one black. An interesting shape it was, curved on the top and pointed on the bottom. It reminded him of something, actually... Looking over his shoulder once more, he held the pendant up high enough for Neko to see. This time, he expected a good answer or he'd try to poke her with it.

Neko blinked a few times, her ears perking up slightly as Demare gave her a funny look. That was Chandra's gift...? It seemed harmless enough... It was better than his dagger, at least.

"Do you like it?" she asked him, smiling a little bit again. "You should wear so you'll remember to thank Chandra next time you see her."

Chandra...? Who the heck was that? Looking to the necklace again, he shrugged before pulling it around his neck, the pendant falling to the floor from the long string.

"You. Look. Like. A. Girl." Micheal mocked at him, and would have been snickering if it were able. "Demare. Is. A. Gi--"

"AM NOT!" Demare screamed at him, gritting his teeth and his hands balling into little fists. "NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT!!"

"You. Are. Wearing. Jewelry. So. You. Must. Be. A. Girl." it argued, highly amused.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!" Oh, the day would come when he would be able to really talk back, and he would SO enjoy every moment of that.

Ribbit.

"What was that...?"

Riiiiibbit.

"...Okay, guys? That's not funny."

Ribbit riiiibbit.

"YOU'RE HOPELESS!!"

Neko opened the door in a huff, demanding to know why she was supposed to check outside. "There isn't anything out here, you jerks! Now sto--"

Rrrrrrriiiiiiibbit.

The demon hanyou blinked a few times, peering down at the porch and spotting the box and note that had been left behind by someone. ...Okay, not she felt rather stupid. Sighing lightly, her tail flicked irritably behind her as she looked over her shoulder and stepped out of the way of the door.

"Somebody get this, ne? I can't reach it," she stated, pointing at the package.

Domonic shooed away the other Tahnee before making his way to the door, unable to help but chuckle a little bit. Leaning down, he took hold of the package, and immediately took notice of the note on top.

"Seems like Demare's a popular one," he commented, straightening up and shifting the weight of the box to rest in one hand, and glancing at the note as he plucked it off. "Sounds like a frog in here... is Prana a girl?"

Neko took the note from him and began to read it herself.

Note for Demare

Hi Demare,
I caught these yesterday when I was out with my Mom, and thought you might like to have one. Please take good care of him.

~Prana

"Yeah... Why?" she questioned, blinking at the letters curiously as she tried to remember which one this way. Demare didn't know any of the children... Maybe this was a friend that had grown.

"I didn't think girls would be out catching frogs," he replied honestly, moving to set the box on an end table near by and walking back toward the kitchen. "I'll be back in a moment. I think it might be better to put it in something before we give it to him."

Neko's tail flicked a little bit as she closed the door, and she slowly made her way to the couch to sit down. Leaning against the soft back cushion, she placed her hands over her swelled up stomach and closed her eyes, already beginning to feel tired. This baby took up so much energy...

She didn't hear Domonic's return with the glass aquarium he'd found in the basement, nor the frog as he placed it inside its new home. She did hear him, however, creep up the stairs, and a few moments later heard him come back. Opening her eyes for a moment, she shifted her head to look toward the staircase, eyeing her loved one that was now carrying an angry Demare as he stepped over to the glass case to show the child his new pet.

Demare's hands balled into little fits for a moment as he glared at the red frog, listening to its irritating croak before passing it off as worthless. Who'd give him some stupid... THING... anyway? And he thought Neko's gifts were bad.

"Prana thought you might like it," Neko piped up from the couch, feeling Demare's annoyance from where she was. "Quite frankly, I think she was quite brave to do that, ne?"

Prana? Wasn't that the bear girl? ...Okay, maybe it wasn't SO bad, but what was with all these girls giving him things?? His bi-colored eyes narrowed as the frog croaked again, his wings twitching a little bit. And this thing was annoying... He'd have to teach it to shut up.

"Fine," was all he said, as if the adults would understand. He'd keep the stupid frog... if anything, he would annoy Micheal with it.

Hellish Day
Neko's tired eyes peered into the headquarters, her rambunctious little child calm for the moment in her arms. The pendant he's always worn before was now missing, being replaced by Chandra's charm that hung around his neck. Neko was a little skeptical of it, especially after reading the note it came with, but he liked it and she wasn't going to argue. Especially with his new "shiney" he constantly carried around with him.

Stepping into the lobby, she sighed softly as she walked toward the couch to take a seat, unintentionally not noticing the other woman in the room. She felt relief as she sat, her back sore from the weight that just seemed to continuely add itself on to her stomach, and she carefully placed Demare next to her to let him do as he wished.

Eamane blinked, ok so maybe there were people. She made a beeline for her chair and smiled at Pink. The little elf glanced at the other woman's swollen tummy with a knowing smile "when are you due" she asked.

She just followed Eamane inside, looking towards the two women seating themselves on the couch respectively. She gave a polite smile and wave towards them as the door slid shut behind the two without children. She entertained the thought, briefly, that Eamane might be new here as well... she really couldn't say since this was her first visit, herself.

Her eyes fell again to the two women, the children with them more specifically, and she felt slightly nervous. She never fancied herself a "baby-person", but somehow they kept finding their way to her anyhow. She'd been slowly getting over that fear. "Hello," ^_^;

Pink smiled as Neko sat down next to her. All pregnant women seemed to have the same idea. When she heard one of the ladies from last night she answered her with a laugh, "Not soon enough."

Guinevere, apon hearing the door opening turned and stared as one of her friends was plopped down on the ground. "MAAARE!" She screamed happily at him and started crawling toward him. He was soft and cuddly, one of the ones that she felt needed a hug the other day and had a group hug.

Eamane giggled and beckoned Tai over "we dont bite i promise" She turned back to Pink with a little giggle "i couldnt agree more, I have one of my own and it was a nightmare for the last few months."

Neko's ears perked up slightly as she heard a voice, and turned to see the unfamiliar woman sitting in a nearby chair. "Um... me?" she asked, just to be sure.

Demare looked around boredly before picking up his dagger and lifted it up into the air.

"Yaaar!" he said with a twitch, I am the pirate king!

He sighed, placing his new toy back into his lap as he looked around again. Ugh, what was he doing playing stupid games? And what was this new shiney good for if he couldn't stab anything with it? Neko had given him strict orders not to play with it too much until he was a little older, and there was something about the way she said it that made him listen for once. But... it was so boring!!

The small child looked up at the woman that had seated herself next to him. That's right, he'd seen her before somewhere, didn't he? And with her was... No! The whiney br--

Please, Demian, don't do anything mean! a voice begged in his mind.

He quickly folded his arms across his chest and hmphed. Fine.

Reluctantly, he waved a few fingers at the girl, hoping she wouldn't try to touch him.

Grateful for the invite, Tai left the doorway at last and came to seat herself trying to wait until she had a moment before she introduced herself. She certainly didn't want to interrupt, but it would also be rude to simply sit in on their conversation. She couldn't help but be amused by that thought.

"You mean this lasts for months?" Pink said with a whail. She turned her head and smiled at Neko. "You feel my pain, don'tcha? How along are you?"

Guinevere waved back happily untill she finally got infront of him, plopping herself down on her diapered rump. "Hewwo!" She said happily reachinig out to give him another hug.

Eamane smiled at the unfamiliar woman "nope...but are you having a baby too?" she asked in her light, slightly bubbly manner. "And yes months and months" she giggled "but it's definately worth it!"

Neko had to think about Pink's question for a moment, and her eye twitched slightly at the other woman's comment. What, had she merely looked FAT? Wait, calm... calm... Surely she didn't mean it like that.

"It's... been a little over a month, actually," she finally said with a nod. "It was confirmed November 30th, so I'm kinda counting from then. What about you, Pink?"

TOUCHING!!!

Demian... the voice pleaded.

Demare sighed and patted Guinevere lightly on the back, doing his best not to flinch. "Hi," he managed to get out, his other hand tightly grasping the hilt of his dagger in annoyance, saving face the best he could.

"Less than a month for me." She said with a sigh, and patted her already large belly. "In my family...we grow quick." She replied, putting a little emphasis on the last word as she rubbed her stomach. "I don't mind the bigness, I just mind everything that comes along with it." She finished, with a laugh.

Guinevere snuggled into Demare's chest for a moment, wrapping her little arms all the way around him. She let go of him and looked up at him, tilting her head to the side. "Somefin rong?" She asked, wondering why he was snuggiling back like he had when she was hugging him and Karan.

With hearing the knocking, Pink looked at the door and moaned. "I am SO not getting that. COME IN!" She shouted, praying the door was open, and the person on the other side could hear her.

Huni had seen someone enter the HQ, and took it as a cue for her own entrance. Balancing Linneas in her arms as she opened the door, the red head quietly walked in. There weren't any familiar faces, and it made her nervous.

Linneas on the other hand was so excited at seeing people he didn't know. He giggled and tried to reach out to the others present.

Eamane smiled and tucked her feet up under her, she was dwarfed by the large chair...not that it was a difficult thing to do as she was only 4'9''. The little elf giggled and watched the children playing on the floor, they seemed more restrained today but the she shrugged, different Legends, different personalities.

Nyxa shoved open the door which, thankfully, was unlocked. Traipsing in, she shut the door behind her with a 'thunk' before turning to eye the occupants warily. It appeared that the building was some sort of baby farm; there were kids playing on the floor, a pink-haired pregnant woman and a few others lounging around.

"Uh.. sorry to interrupt, but ah. I'm sort of lost, and I was wondering if I might warm up in here just a touch before you point me on my way?"

The red head made her way to the couches and chairs, seating herself silently beside an elf. Huni gave the other woman a shy smile before resuming her attention at the other Legends and guardians.

Linneas squirmed in Huni's grasp, trying his best to gain freedom to explore and meet others.

"Sure!" Pink called fromt he couch, happy she didn't have to get up to let someone in. "Come talk and warm up with us over here!" She said, motioning the newcommer over with a wave of her hand.

Neko laughed a little bit. "I... know the feeling," she admitted, resting a hand on her own stomach.

Demare lifted a brow as Guinevere asked her question, wondering why she would think anything was wrong. ....OF COURSE EVERYTHING WAS WRONG!

Demian, if you would prefer, I could take over for a bit... the voice told him, almost hopeful.

You and your stupid friends... he muttered to himself in his mind. You're all so pathetic!

If you hate it so much, the--

BAH! Just... Demare sighed. I hate you. I LOATHE your very being.

I understand. Thank you, Demian...

Whatever.

Demare closed his eyes for a moment, his body growing limp only for a quick second as the two seemed to switch places, Clare taking over for the time being. Opening his bi-colored eyes again, he smiled a little bit at his friend, hugging her with one arm gently.

"Everything fine," he assured her, hoping she wouldn't worry. "Nothing wong."

Eamane turned her smiling face towards yet another new commer "hello" she said brightly "I'm Eamane" and then she waved at the cold girl who had just entered "my its busy tonight" she commented to no one in particular.

"Ok!" Guinevere said happily with a smile and a shrug as she snuggled against his arm, always the oblicious one in the family. She began digging around in her cape and pulled out one of her stuffed teddies and began to make it dance around her friend. "Teddy Dance dance!" She said through fits of giggles.

Huni blinked at hearing Nyxa's voice, the other woman seemed familiar to her. Although she wasn't quite sure why, maybe they had met somewhere else? "Agh, my name to face memory stinks." she muttered. "And alright, Linny you can look around if you like." she sighed, setting the infant on the floor.

Linneas gurgled a bit as he started to crawl towards a gathering of other infants.

Nyxa sloughed off the slight dusting of snow that had encrusted her outerwear; damn, but it was cold outside. Glancing around for a spot to seat herself, Nyxa made her way over to a sturdy-looking chair, and after draping her jacket over the back she sat her tush down.

"Well. I'm Nyxa," she announced to any that cared to listen, "and I really appreciate ya'll lettin' me in. I thought I'd be a Nyxa-cicle after much longer out in that frigid weather."

She wanted to step in and follow the conversation from a non-spectator's view, it was difficult not to. Since she hadn't found a chance before, however, she finally took a more direct approach. Plan B.

She leant forward on the couch from where she sat, maybe one person apart from the two mothers and she spoke out to be heard. "Hello, everyone, I'm sorry for intruding," She smiled a bit apologetic. "My name is Tai."

"It sure is." Huni responded to Eamane, "I'm not usually here when it's busy. Most of the time when I arrive, no one's around." she added off-handedly.

Linneas watched curiously at Guin's dancing bear and instinctively clutched his broom plushie to him.

Demare chuckled a little bit, releasing his dagger for a moment to clap his hands. What could he show her in return...? He looked around for a moment, feeling his new "friend" would be a little creepy to show off, and decided his new pendant would do. With a proud smile, he held up his gift from Chandra, the gold color glistening slightly in the light as the black and red dots dimly shined.

Neko smiled at the woman, lifting a hand to wave in greeting.

"Pleased to meet you, Tai," she said, bowing her head a little bit. "My name's Neko, and... down there is Demare."

Guinevere stoped making her teddy dance and stared with big eyes at the shiny necklace. "Pretty!" She said, reaching out a little hand to it and petting it lightly. "Mommy give?" She asked, wondering who gave him the nice necklace.

Out of the corner of her eye Guinevere saw a nother baby come over to them and waved him over. He had a plushie that looked cute so he must be nice to play with, she thought to herself, turning back to Demare and his shiny necklace.

Linneas crawled over to where the two Legends were after being invited. He was all smiles and wanted to show them his own plush. Before he could do so, he paused to stare at Demare's necklace as it was so shiney. "Ooooo..." he cooed in awe.

Demare shook his head a little bit, waving a few fingers at the new baby.

"Cha..." he started to say, turning his eyes upward to think for a moment. What had Neko told him...? Oh, that's right. "Chaaandra."

Guinevere nodded her head. She knew that legend. She was a big one who made pretty music. "She make moooooosic!" She said happily, clapping her hands to make it sound sorta like the flute's music Chandra made...just missing what she was trying to convey totally and utterly wrong.

"Chaa?" Linneas echoed, a little confused. Was the necklace called Cha or was that the name of the other male baby? "Chaa?" he asked, pointing at Demare.

Brit burst into the HQ, looking very annoyed with the world. Keita huddled in his carrier on her back, and the tiny redhead was so bundled up she was almost as wide as she was tall. "That is IT. I have HAD it with this blasted snow! I thought when we moved to Port Gino the weather would be better here!"

"I've been here a few times before," Huni absently murmured before noticing Britain's arrival. "Come on over by the fire." she said, scooting off to get a seat for the other woman.

Demare's wings twitched a little bit as he blinked. "Moosic?" he questioned, having only remembered one legend playing music before, and that was a male.

Looking to the unknown baby, he tilted his head a little bit. Cha...? He shook his head, placing a hand over his chest and smiling.

"Dehmahray," he said a little slowly, not used to saying his own name.

His attention turned to the door as another woman came in, a familiar legend on her back. Wasn't that... Keita?

Brit blinked at the invitation, taking off her outermost coat and shakign the dust off of it. Slowly, she peeled herself out of her various layers and hung them by the door, uncovering Keita as well. The little Legend's nose was red, and he sniffled- much like his mama. "Thanks...I could use the heat, after that walk. I KNEW it was a longer path than I expected!"

Moving a bit stiffly, she headed for the group by the warmth and set Keita down. "Hey, sweetling, look- Guinie's here!"

Keita peeked out fof his carrier, spotting his friend and waving a hand in her direction. "Mrrr...?"

Linny understood now, it was the necklace that was called Cha and the owner of the necklace was Dehmahray. A little long for him to say, and he hoped the other baby wouldn't mind if he called him "Dehm." he nodded.

Noticing the winged Legend's preoccupation, Linneas followed Demare's gaze and saw another infant! Oh joy! Linny gets to meet new friends! He clapped his hands as best as he could (as in one hand he clutched his broom plush).

Guinevere nodded frantically. "Moosic!" She said, putting her hands up to her mouth and moving her fingers up and down, just like Chandra did when she played the flute for her hoping to get Demare to understand her.

Suddenly, both daugher and mother looked over to the door at all the racket. It was Brit and Keita! Pink waved and called Brit over to the group and Guinevere made grabby hands maddly at her scritch scritch friend.

Linneas blinked at the sudden excitement in Guin, and vaguely wondered if anyone ever felt that way to see him. Aside from his mother that is.

Huni smiled at Brit, in a manner of saying "Don't mention it." The red head didn't like the cold either, having been raised in a tropical climate. The HQ was warmer than outside and it had thawed the red head enough.

Seeing that Keita had lots of friends to play with here, Brit released him from his carrier and set him on the ground. Tucking her feet under her tiny self, she gave a lopsided grin to the others. "I like snow a LOT...but I'm really getting tired of the cold!"

Keita mmrrrrrh'd, puling himself to his knees and crawling over to Guinie and Demare and the others. He was still cold...he nuzzled against Guinie, and peered out at the world from he shoulder. "Mrrr?"

Linneas crawled up to Keita, noticing the other baby had predominantly green clothing as he did.

Guinevere wrapped her little arms around her friend and moved her hands up to scritch behind his ears. She had missed her friend Keita. He was so fluffy and playfull and he had been on a vacation her mommy had told her.

Keita's ears were COLD. He snuggled closer into the ear scritches, nuzzling Guinie and blinking at the new person. "Mrrr?" He asked, tilting his little head slightly. "MrrrrRRrr."

Prana entered the HQ, alone for the first time, and a bit nervous. What if no one was there. She looked around, her face softening when she noticed that there were lots of children present.

Demare waved a hand at Keita, smiling a little bit at the fellow legend. Now there was a small group of boys in a room filled with girls. ...Somehow, that seemed very odd to him, and slightly uncomfortable.

"Hu?" Linny asked, blinking at Guin and Keita. He already knew Demare's name, what of theirs? Voices again caught his attention and he saw Prana, he remembered the girl on his first visit and wondered if she remembered him. Or if she knew the other babies in the room.

Keita raised his head to blink at Prana as she entered the room, sniffing faintly to identify her. He twitched an ear in her direction, and waved a hand excitedly to get Guinie and Demare and everyone's attention. There were so many people here...he was distracted! "Prrrrr! Smile!!"

"I always smile when I see you!" Prana called to Keita, crossing the room and scooping him up to nuzzle his stomach with her nose. She looked at the little fawn, sitting cross legged and resting him in her lap, before realizing she was surrounded by little ones. "Well, I guess I do have a reason to smile." She waved at all the Legends, and a few visitors to the HQ, settling herself down for a visit.

Guinevere let go of Keita and stared at him, tilting her head slightly to say she didn't understand what he meant. She beamed a happy smile at him none the less.

Suddenly, she turned her head and saw her big Prana friend! She cooed loudly, clapping her hands and lunged at her for she was so close, wrapping her arms and legs around her big friend's leg and foot, snuggiling into it. So many friends were here to day. So many to huggle and snuggle all at the same time, it was just overwhelming!

Linny was content to watch and wait, he had his daily quota of attention already. Still, he stayed close by to the other Legends, not feeling the least bit out of place. He liked being around others, interesting people were fun to watch at the very least.

"Hi Minchkin." Prana 'oofed' as Guinny jumped into her lap, and snuggled the little girl back as tightly as she dared. Between the two Legends on her lap, she was feeling very secure and comfortable, even without her Guardian. "Did you all like your froggies?" She asked, hoping none of the ate theirs.

Keita nearly purred, cuddling happilyb against Prana and rubbing his cold nose in her shirt. "Mmmrrr. MRRRMrrrrmrrrr...PRrr? Mrr!" He said, very seriously, as if it were vital that she listen. He looked at Guinie as if in confirmation. "Snow!"

Demare waved back at Prana happily, realizing how big she'd gotten. He felt something twitch in his lap, and looked down at his dagger, blinking a few times as the two wings moved slightly. It was as if it were demanding attention. But... who could he show it to?

"What was that?" Prana looked down at Keita seriously, her green eyes focusing on him. "Snow?" The bear legend tilted her head, looking at Guinny as if she would translate. She really missed being able to understand the babies. As she looked about, she saw Demare, and smiled at him. She had always liked him as a baby. He looked a bit distracted, and she raised an eyebrow, wondering what was up.

Linneas tilted his head as well, "Snow"? What was that? He wondered, turning to Demare.

Guinevere looked at Prana and giggled. How could she not understand little Keita! "Snow out!" She said, pointing toward the door. "Cooooold!" She said, makign a little brrrr noise and wraped her arms around herself for a short moment before she wraped them back around prana and then around Keita. She tried wrapping her legs around Demare and the other baby who she didn't know his name, but it was a little hard, those other two not being in Prana's big and furry lap.

Guinevere looked up at Prana and said, "Spank you! Froggie hop lots!" Continuing what she said with a motion of her hands moving up and down to display how the yellow little froggie she got, so alike to the sunshine as she was, hopped around all day long, throughout their house.

Keita nodded at Guinie, and grinned up at Prana. "Cold smile?" He asked, and nuzzled closer. "Mrrrrr. Sun sleepie no smile." The thought seemed to sadden him a bit, and he blinked at Demare mournfully. "Smile...?"

Demare grew distracted from his dagger by Guinevere's kicking, as if she were trying to reach him. Thinking for a moment, he carefully stood, taking hold of his dagger with both of his hands and held it close to himself as he stepped wobbily over toward Prana and the others.

"Oh, I see." Prana flushed red, felling a bit foolish. She looked out the window at the snow, then back down at the babies. Guinny was holding her arms and shivering. Prana looked at the babies, smiling misheviously, her green eyes flashing, before swiftly raising her arms and pulling her cloak off. The large white leather and fuzz garment hung in the air for a moment before descending onto the four babies heads like a parachute.

DS wasn't sure what brought her to the HQ that frosty evening. She should really be at home, she chided herself mentally. After all, Karan was still... visually challenged. But perhaps what was best for him was to be near others. And he certainly would be near a lot of them, she noticed as she hung her coat by the door, gawking at the packed HQ.

Today Dusk was clutched in Karan's hands. The squirrel's familiar presence made the Legend feel a little more secure. Now that the light had begun to fade, shadows were invading his vision, and even though they were a relief to see, they still startled him. Once he was set on the floor, he remained still, listening to try and discern who was nearby.

Linny gave a squeak of surprise as the cape fell upon them. He tried to maneuver out from under it, ending up blindly crawling towards Demare.

Guinevere looked at Prana as she started to strip and giggled happily as the large fluffy coat descended apon her. She wiggled all aroun in Prana's lap as it fell on them, rubbing her face against the fuzzies of the coat and trying to burrow around it, finding any parts of her baby friends as she could to tickle with the fuzzies of the coat.

Keita shreiked with laughter, brought out of his melancholy by the FLUFF descending from on high. He laughed brightly, little hands waving as he tried to find people. There was Guinie, and there was the other person....and was that Demare? He had something hard, so maybe it was...?

Prana, now upside down, saw Karan placed in her line of sight/ "Hi Karan..." She called softly, trying not to startle him. "it's Prana. We're over here. Demare, Linneas, Keita and Guinny are here too." She tried to speak slowly, so the boy could orient himself to her voice. Looking up, Prana spied her Aunt and gave a lopsided wave with the fingers peeking out of her gloves. "Hi Aunt DS." She smiled, but her eyes were serious and dark. She wanted to know if Karan was getting better, or of she had not helped any, or worse, made the infant's conditon worse than it already was.

Linny couldn't help but giggle, the fluffy-ness tickled him. Blindly, he searched out the others, his broom plushie nudging someone.

Demare cowered a little bit as the cloak fell over him, immediately moving to find an open area, which happened to be next to Prana's lap. He had hated complete darkness ever since that night Demian had fully awakened... and while he trusted the others, he still was skeptical of his other half.

As the door opened, his gaze turned to see who had come in. Wasn't that...? He smiled brightly, nearly dropping his dagger as he lifted a hand to wave in the air.

"Kawan!" he called out, having missed his friend.

Kamiki walks in, Kitsumai at her side, holding her hand.

As always, the little kiren girl is shy at first and sticks close to her mom. She's wearing her signature big purple ribbon for a shirt, and her bag full of sketch pad and pencils is hanging on the waist between her human and kiren torso.

Kamiki dislodges her hands from hers when they get into the room, giving her an encouraging smile.

Karan turned his head to face the voice, which he recognized as the girl from the other day, the one who made him feel better. Even if he didn't recognize the names, just knowing that she was there made him feel better. He lifted his arms in hopes that she would pick him up, forcing the irritated squirrel to relocate to his shoulder.

"You're looking well, Prana," DS smiled. "I really must thank you... whatever you did, Karan's been fussing with his eyes a lot less since then."

Prana's eyes reasjusted to her lap as Demare' head poked out from under her cloak. Her eyes widened as he lunged forward towards something behind her, almost dropping his dagger on her. When did her get that anyway, and who was letting a baby crawl around with a sharp thing. Carefully, she sat up, picking him off of her lap and placing him closer to Karan, who she guessed he wanted to see. Her Aunt spoke to her, and she blushed a bit, getting up and pulling her cloak off of the baies.

"I'ts nothing..." She brushed the compliment off, turning a deeped shade of red. Karan was holding his arms out, and she knely down, taking his small hands in her fuzzy gloves. "I'm glad you feel better Karan..." She cooed to the baby, moving his hands closer to Demare so he wouldn't be frightened when the boy came near.

Demare blinked a few times as Prana picked him up and placed him a little closer to Karan. Why was his arms outstretched like that? And what was that on his arm? None the less, he began to crawl the rest of the way to his friend, the blade of the dagger making soft clinks on the ground as he moved.

"Kawan?" he tried again, wondering if the boy hadn't heard him before.

She wasn't going to pick him up? Karan started to pout, but he was distracted when he realized someone else was nearby. He reached a cautious hand forward, hoping whoever it was would give him a hint as to their identity.

Demare stopped in front of Karan, his face getting grabbed by accident. "Ow!" he whined, letting go of his dagger and rubbing his eyes. Why'd he do that...?

His wings fidgetted a little bit as he looked closer at his friend, squinting a little bit. Something seemed awfully funny about his eyes... He wasn't looking straight, and they seemed a little glazed. Lifting a hand into the air, he waved it in front of his friend's face, wondering if he would notice.

He didn't notice the hand, but Demare's voice rang clearly in his ears, making him smile for the first time in two days. "Demaah," he breathed. Perhaps he would be able to understand?

Demare smiled, putting his hand back down.

"Kawan, good?" he asked, hoping the other would understand his question.

Was he good? After a moment's thought, he shrugged, then covered his eyes. The brown girl got it, maybe Demare would too.

Demare put his own hands in front of his eyes for a moment, thinking about that. So, he couldn't see... Placing his hands in his lap, he looked at his friend with concern in his eyes.

Wuss, a voice scoffed at him. He ignored it.

"Why no see?" he asked curiously.

He didn't know. Did he? One moment he was seeing, the next he wasn't, and in between, all he could remember was light. Burning, painful light.

"Liiih," he murmured softly.

Demare tilted his head a little bit. Ligh...? .........Light? Did a bright light make him blind?

"Sun?" he asked, that being the only kind of light Neko warned him never to look at.

A stray memory infiltrated Karan's mind, of a golden-plated hand reaching closer and closer...

He nodded emphatically. "Yus."

That had to be it! Smiling a little bit, Demare reached a hand out and carefully put it on Karan's shoulder, being careful of the squirrl.

"Shoun't look at tha sun," he said, as if being wise. "Sun bad ta look at, buh good fow warm wen cold."

"No mah faut," he replied briskly. He didn't even like light that was that bright. It hurt.

Okay, time to change the subject. "How you?"

See, stupid? You upset him, his mind told him.

It... it wasn't on purpose, Demare tried to reason with himself, closing his eyes for a moment.

That's not the point.

"Okay," he said a little reluctantly.

That was good to hear, Karan thought, fidgeting a little. Dusk chittered his complaint and leapt off the boy's shoulder, into his lap, and observed the other Legend curiously.

Didn't the lady say that the fuzzy thing came from Demare? "Dakoo." He pointed to Dusk, or at least where he thought the squirrel would be.

Demare looked to the squirrl for a moment, trying to figure out what Karan was trying to say. Thank you...? But, where had the squirrl come from? Maybe it was that gift he'd gotten the boy for Christmas...? He had no idea it would be a live animal.

"Welcome," he said with a nod, patting the boy's shoulder lightly. Wait, he'd gotten a gift, too! "An' tank you."

"Welco." They were even then, he supposed.

But then, if they were even, and everything was okay, why couldn't he think of anything to do? Was it because he couldn't see. Probably.

"Sowwee," he sighed, rubbing Dusk a little to roughly on the head.

Prana looked down at Guinny, and heard her clapping. Looking about,a bit nervously, she cleared her throat...

"CAN I HAVE EVERYONE'S ATTENTION PLEASE!?!?"

She bellowed over all the noise. Here green eyes looked pertified, but maybe, just maybe, everyone would listen.

She smiled and eyed the other's feet before hacing her attention turned to the one that bellowed. Her pointed ears perked up, ready to listen to what the other had to say.

Pink laughed at DS and smiled. "Our phones are all glued on the wall. Hopefully the clutter and pets will never mound up that high to hide them." Turning she saw Fae and waved to her. "I don't know, but its MADNESS I tell you! Almost too much stimuli for a pregnant woman!" She said, using her pregnancy once more in conversation, with an extra pat to her belly.

When she was done talking she looked up at Prana, wondering what was going on. She smiled at her little baby in Prana's arms, watching her stare up at her big friend and coo softly.

Huni jumped in her seat, literally. She was taken by surprise at the sudden yell.

Linneas dropped the crayon and instinctively brought his broom plush to his chest.

Kamiki opened her mouth to respond to Jhiri when she heard someone yell for everyone's attention.

Kitsu also turned her attention from the coloring, looking up at the yelling Legend.

Jhiri's head snapped around at the yell and she quieted to listen.

Eamane jerked awake at the loud voice and looked around.

Worried that all the commotion really might be too much, DS shifted her position on the couch, making it ever so slightly in front of Pink. "If you want them to quiet up, just-"

Prana caught her attention, and she broke off, waiting to see what her niece would say.

Demare blinked a few times, wondering why his friend was sorry. Looking to his dagger for a moment, he thought of something: maybe since Karan couldn't see it, he wouldn't be afraid of it.

Carefully taking one of the boy's hands, he held up his gift and gently touched Karan's fingers to the feather wing it hand. "Be cawefuw," he warned, making sure he wouldn't hurt himself.

He also turned his attention toward Prana, but decided to just listen instead.

Nyxa, who had obviously dozed off to sleep in her seat, glanced around the room that had rapidly filled to bursting. Stretching and yawning simultaneously, she hastily swiped her eyes before returning her attention to the room.

Such beautiful children, everywhere. She chuckled to herself, reminded of her own babies at home she'd left in the care of her oldest, Adrienne.

Faevan looked up suddenly. The room was starting to fall quiet, and there in the middle, holding Keita and Guinny, was Prana? The poor girl looked so uncomfortable too.

"I wonder what's up?" Faevan whispered, mostly to herself, listening to her daughter.

"Uh...I...uh...Guinny wants all the Legends...." She held her breath for a secondm before deciding to just blurt it out. "Guinny wants everyone to give her a hug!" Her cheeks were red by this point, and her head was retreating into her fur collar to hide that. but there, she did it! She said it.

Guinevere looked around the room as tons of eyes and faces were on her, Prana, and Keita. She secretly wondred if they were all fluffy and soooo wanted to find out. She looked up at Prana and wondered what she wanted evertyone to do. She hoped it was a hug, oh boy she hoped so much it was a hug!

When she heard Prana speak she squealed loudly and happily and clapped her hands together. "HUG! HUG HUG HUG" She chanted, making grabby hands at everyone in the room.

Karan had paused twice, once when the big girl spoke the first time, and the the second for merely a moment. Whatever she was saying didn't seem to concern him. He was more curious about the soft thing Demare was showing him.

The feathered handle felt good, but as his hand explored it what felt better was the cold rush of the metal. He stroked it, unaware of the danger it held. "Mmmmm..."

Demare worried for a moment as Karan started to pet the blade, glad that he was holding the sharp edge closer to himself. He tilted the dagger a little bit, just to be sure Karan wouldn't cut himself, and noticed that the eye in the center of the two wings seems to close a little bit. Was... it happy?

Why was the hard coolness turning? Karan tried to feel the hidden edge, wondering why it was being moved away... and suddenly felt a sharp wetness against his palm. After the first moment it didn't hurt, and Karan held his hand up curiously.

Even if Karan couldn't see the thin trickle of blood, DS did and she swooped down on the infant within moments."Oh dear..." She was so busy fussing over her own Legend she failed to notice the other,or the dagger. Without so much as a farewell to anyone, she hurried out of the HQ, muttering something about antiseptic.

Demare's eyes widened slightly, watching as Karan slit his finger a little bit on the blade. The dagger's eye opened fully, and his own two red eyes opened a little bit as a little bit of the blood's residue remained on the weapon. Oh shoot... He'd cut him??

He held the dagger close to his body, a little protectively, not even realizing at first that his friend had been taken away. What... had he done?

Sail Away
Xiao's tail swished a little bit behind him as he quietly stepped into the lobby, Demare resting in the nook of his right arm. He came only as a request of Neko, since she was currently unable to leave the house, and was a bit surprised to see the place empty. She said there would be others here, did she not? The tahnee fox passed the thought aside, however, and stepped over to the couch, deciding to wait for a little bit before heading back home.

It was an excuse to get him out of the house, wasn't it? After what happened with Micheal and the sprockets this morning, Neko had been on edge and didn't need him adding to her stress. WHATEVER! That stupid demon... SENDING HIM AWAY! Of all the nerve... Demare's bi-colored eyes moved about the empty room, trying to find something to do while he was here. Boring... Boring BORing BORING.

Eriol shoved the door to the HQ open with his shoulder, both arms trying to keep a grip on a very excitable baby. Frowning, more from annoyance than actual anger, he placed the child on the floor and sank into a chair. "Geesh... I dunno if ya do this ta Mom, but if ya do, no wonder she axed me ta take ya tonight."

If Karan heard or understood what his watcher said, he showed no signs of it. He was here, and here was where people were, and- person! Demare person! Best type of person there was, almost!

"Dah," he squealed, waving excitedly from his spot.

Xiao's ears perked up at the sound of the door opening, looking over his shoulder to place his pale blue gaze upon the new arrivals. They seemed harmless enough... though the older of the two appeared to be angry with something. Turning around slowly, he noticed the child on the floor waving his hands excitedly. Hm... a friend of Demare's?

Demare's eyes and wings twitched slightly. Great... it was HIM.

Is he ALWAYS here? Demian hissed in his mind, folding his arms across his chest in a huff.

It seems that we tend to be here at the same time... Clare responded, sounding a little disappointed with his other half. Why must you speak so ill of him, Demian? He's done you no wrong.

He's an annoying little twit. ...And he looks too much l--

I would appreciate it if you wouldn't speak of him like that. He's my friend...

You have an interesting choice of friends, then. After all, I used to be one of them.

If you're not going to let me through, then... please... Give him a chance today? Clare pleaded.

Demare sighed, unfolding his arms and lightly brushing his fingers along the charm from Chandra. He gave her a chance, right? ...Damn it.

FINE! I'll give your stupid friend a chance.

"Down," Demare demanded the tahnee, turning his gaze up to the fox for a moment.

Xiao raised a brow at the child, but didn't hesitate at the command, gently setting the boy on the floor.

Eriol looked over the other visitors curiously, but remained silent. He wasn't really in the mood for idle conversation.

YES! He was here, and coming, and everything was GOOD. It was nice outside, and everything was all better, and it was good. Not that he knew why it was good, but he didn't really care either. Not when there was Demare to play with!

Nearly giggling from the contained excitement, he grabbed the strap of a small bag next to him, and started towards his friend.

Demare waited where he was, deciding it was better for Karan to come to him. Why should he have to move if he didn't need to? ...And what was that bag he was carrying?

Demian, remember to thank him for the gift, Clare reminded the demon.

...WHAT? he scowled.

The mouse... Remember? Leethral? Karan and his lady person give him to us.

I'd love to know why the heck you think I CARE.

Demian, please? Don't make me force you out...

Like you could, were Demare's thoughts to himself, hidden from Clare. Ugh... Being polite made no sense to him.

As soon as he reached his destination, Karan plopped the bag in front of him and started to rifle through it. Part of its contents streaked out, chittering its anger loudly as it made its way behind the boy. But that wasn't what he was looking for, and his eyes lit up as he pulled out a rubber ball, a small model of the solar system suspended within it.

"Ah beah," he proclaimed, pointing to his eyes. "Pway?"

Prana ran full tilt into the HQ, a rather tired looking Faevan dragging her heels behind her. Faevan cast tired eyes on the full moon, muttering something about it making kids crazy, before finding her way to a couch.

Prana's green eyes gazed about the HQ, looking for familiar faces. She hadn't been here in so long. Excitedly, she spied two little bundles she recognized. Calming herself, she walked over quietly, sitting nearby the toddlers.

Demare quirked a brow at the ball before he leaned forward, inspecting the design closely. What was that? A bunch of round cirles surround by even MORE cirles... and in an odd fashion. For some reason, it intrigued him.

"Pay what?" he demanded, turning his gaze back to the boy.

Play what? He hadn't thought that far... as long as they played something it would be fun, right? And- PERSON! Good person! The nice big fuzzy person who made him feel better!

This time he waved both arms, yet again jolting the poor squirrel from his position. "Raaaa!"

Demare's gazed turned from the boy up to the girl, trying to remember who she was. Another friend of Clare's, wasn't she? ...She looked different from the last time he remembered. Or was she like that the last time he was here? Nonetheless, he kept quiet for the time being, his wings cautiously curling around his small body.

Prana smiled softly and waved to Karan, holding out her arms to the boy, not wanting to frighten him. He tended to be jumpy at times, she had noticed.

"Hi Karan. Hello Demare."

Karan couldn't believe his luck. Two absolutely YAY people were here to play with! How could it get any better?

One hand swatted the ball, which lazily rolled out into the open. The other kept beckoning Prana closer.

"Pway."

"Hewwo," he said a little warily, but was quickly distracted as the ball began to roll away. ...It was.... ESCAPING! How DARE it flee from them! And they wanted to play with the ball, too.

Demare got up into a stand, and quickly waddled after the ball, reaching toward it in hopes that he'd catch it. ...It was running away from him... STUPID BALL!

Perfect! They could chase it! That would be lots and lots of fun! Karan clapped happily as his way of cheering his friend on.

Demare had almost reached the ball... In fact, he was so close that his fingers brushed against the rubber. However, his tiny little foot got too close, and he accidently kicked it further away.

"NUH!!" he cried, pouting as he continued to waddle after the ball. Come back! Stupid... thing!

Yay, the game was going well! Except for the fact that it was taking a long time for his turn to come. Demare would get the ball, he knew that. But then he'd be so far away. So he should chase it too!

Giggling, he started to crawl after Demare. Ball had better look out!

Closer... He needed to get closer to the ball! He thought for a moment, his wings stretching out as much as they could as he took note that the ball was rolling FORWARD. If he were to get in front of the ball... Maybe it would work.

Flapping and fluttering his wings as hard as he could, Demare's body slowly and clumsily lifted off of the floor, allowing him to be suspended in the air while he tried to move faster than the ball. He could do it... He really could! ...But... flying kind of hurt. A lot.

"Nggghh!!" he reached his hands toward the ball again, his wings beating harshly in the air, once again able to brush his fingers along the surface.

However, his wings were quickly loosing momentum as they grew tired, allowing the child to fall closer to the ground.

MAYDAY! MAYDAY! CRASHING LANDING!!

Luckily, Demare had fallen on top of the ball, but not without rolling with it once and falling right on his head. This game SUCKED!! ...But useful. He could hurt people in this game? Hmmmmm.... Yes, useful indeed.

It had started out fun, but as Demare fell, Karan let out a shriek. Bad! Falling hurts and hurting is BAD! And he couldn't get there fast enough!

Pushing up with his hands, he teetered, tottered, and started waddling over towards his fallen friend. It was hard staying balanced, but lots faster than crawling.

"Dmaah! Dmaah kay?"

Demare was still clinging to the ball as he rolled down onto his back, his narrow bi-colored eyes glancing at the child approaching. He was... asking if he was okay?

Didn't... that hurt, Demian? Clare questioned, hoping his other half was okay.

...Well... Yes, but it wasn't that bad. Not like I haven't hurt myself before, he replied, looking up toward the ceiling for a moment. ...That was actually kind of fun.

You mean...!

Eh. Maybe he isn't so bad.

"I fine," he simply stated, rocking on his back a little bit until he could swing upwards into a sit.

Fine? Good. Fine was good, and good is good. Good!

Legs finally giving out, he flopped onto his bottom, both scarves fluttering as he did to. As long as he was fine, and fine is good, then they could keep playing, right?

"Mah tun?"

Demare blinked a few times, almost having forgotten about the game. Looking to the ball for a moment, he gave it a cold glare, as if to tell it to go to Karan instead of running away again. Finally, he let the ball go, and give it a small shove toward the other child, hoping it would behave.

His turn! Finally, they were playing together! Huzzah! Almost falling over in his haste, he slammed his hands onto the ground and took off after the ball, scarves trailing behind him on the floor. He'd catch it now!

It didn't LISTEN! It wasn't behaving! It... ...Hey. Maybe that was supposed to happen. Blinking a few times, he watched the other boy run after the ball just as he had before, and Karan seemed to actually be having fun. They were supposed to chase it...?

C-cheer him on... Clare's voice piped up.

WHAT?!

H-he was cheering you on... Maybe you should do the same?

Demare sighed lightly. Well, the sooner Karan caught it, the sooner the ball would be sent back, right? But... how does one "cheer" exactly?

"Uh... You can do it!" he cried out, his wings fidgetting a little bit.

He was even getting cheered on! Encouraged by the show of support, he put a little more oomph into his crawling and fell onto his stomach, as well as the ball. It didn't hurt much though, and he did it!

"Yah," he chirped, turning over on his side and pushing the ball back towards Demare.

YES! SUCCESS! The cheering WORKED and now the ball was coming back to him. All right, he'd show that ball... Demare carefully stood himself up, clumsily stepping toward the moving sphere. He wouldn't let it get the best of him this time! No sir, not THIS time!

...Was he moving faster? The ball grew closer a lot slower than he'd expected, and he did his best to quicken his steps as he ventured onward. It didn't take him long to realize something as he stopped, however, wanting to wait a moment for the ball to catch up.

The ball wasn't moving.

How DARE it stop before him!! Demare, in a huff of annoyance, stomped right up to the ball, and gave it one swift kick, a bit surprised as is flew up into the air and began to bounce its way back toward Karan. It was... a jumping ball??

Karan's eyes widened as the ball bounced towards him. It... jumped? It never did that before! Maybe it was because it was with someone else. That had to be it. The ball was having fun too!

During the time it took to make this deduction, the ball had gotten closer to him. So close, in fact, that it was right in front of him. Closer... one more bounce and it hit the boy square in the chest, knocking him onto his back with a surprised "uuf!"

...Oops.

Demare did his best to waddle quickly over to Karan, looking down at the child as he reached him. Stupid ball... It attacked him. That had to be it. Though, down on the floor like that, there was something that seemed so... familiar to him.

Blinking once, he reached out his hand to offer help sitting back up.

"Kara okay?" he asked a bit quietly, as if not wanting anyone else to know what he was doing.

"Sokay..." It really didn't hurt, much. The ball just wanted to play too, he was sure of it. But he was still grateful for the hand, and reached for it.

Before the child could quite grasp it though, he was intercepted. "Whoa... y'okay there squirt? I think we'd better getcha home."

Home? Now? Without finishing the game? No! That wouldn't be good at all! It would be boring and bad!

He down looked at Demare, eyes pleading for help.

Demare's normally narrowed eyes looked normal for a moment as Karan looked down on him like that, a bit of a realization coming to him.

Hey, Clare...? Ya know something?

Hm?

...He remindes me a lot of how you used to be.

Eh??

Demare looked to Xiao for a moment. ...Nothing.

"I... go?" he finally said, looking up at Karan. "I come?"

"Come?" What did he mean by that? Was he going to come with him? That would be GOOD. Very good. He looked up at Eriol hopefully.

Seemed like the runt was making friends. Good for him, but it did make him feel a little guilty for taking him home. He knew what it was like not to get to spend enough time with friends.

"Sorry squirt, but we're going home. So unless he wants to come home with us, we've gotta go."

"I go!" Demare decided with a nod, his wings pulling close to his back.

B-but we don't have permissio--

The lady wanted us out of the house, right? It'll be fine... Foxman can explain later. It's not like we can't take care of ourselves.

But...

"I go," he said aloud again.

Xiao finally stepped away from the couch and walked up to Demare, carefully picking him up from the floor as he looked to Eriol.

"He seems to want to go along," he said cooly, his tail swishing a little bit. "Perhaps... it would not be a bad idea, should your guardian be all right with that."

Seemed the little guy was more determined than Eriol had given him credit for. Fantastic. Now he'd have to break it to two people.

"Well, we-" he broke off, taking another look at Karan's hopeful face, and sighed. "We'd be happy to watch him for a while. Mom won't mind." I hope, he added silently.

He was coming? YAY! Friend all night long, and lots of fun, and fun, and YAY.

"Now hold on, I'm gonna improvise."

Retrieving the bag of toys from the floor, Eriol jostled some of its contents, finally shifting Karan so his weight was mostly held by the bag. He was surprised that the child actually let him- it couldn't be too comfortable, and last week he'd nearly had his eye scratched out for less.

"Your turn," he muttered, crossing the floor to get Legend from his guardian. "And wouldja mind gettin th'door fer me?"

Xiao nodded, stepping over toward the door.

"Forgive his intrusion... Should there be any problems, your guardian may contact us at any time," he explained as he reached the door and pulled it open, bowing a little bit.

That... was almost too easy, but whatever. He was going somewhere NEW, and he'd at least have some real company for once. He looked to Karan for a moment before looking back to the fox tahnee, nodding a little bit. Tonight would certainly be different.

"Sure thing," Eriol nodded in place of a bow, and headed outside.

YAY! Karan latched onto Demare's nearby arm, quivering with excitement. Friend meant it wouldn't be boring anymore. He KNEW that something good was going to happen, and it did!

Demare's right eye twitched slightly as his arm was latched onto. Very different indeed...

The Sleepover: Part 1
Eriol pushed the door open to the house softly, hoping not to wake anyone. The hour was later than he had anticipated, so most people were likely to be asleep.

"Eri, sweets, is that you?"

DS rubbed her eyes as she sat up, the thin blanket that covered her legs slipping to the floor as she rose from the couch.

"Yeah..." Shutting the door behind him, he poked his head into the living room.

"Karan have fun?"

"Yeah... and we've got a guest."

Eriol entered the room fully, showing off his company.

Demare's eyes narrowed a little bit as he peered about the room, his wings unwrapping themselves from around his body as he took in his surroundings. Definitely nothing like his own home... but it wasn't so bad, he decided. After a moment, his eyes turned toward the woman by the couch, faintly remembering her as Karan's guardian.

DS frowned, her hands knitting themselves together in her lap. Yes, she'd seen that one before, many times. But what was he doing here?

"It's nice to see you again, Demare-kun." To Eriol, she shook her head. "What's the story, kiddo?"

Flinching a little at the "kiddo," Eriol shrugged. "He want'd ta come, and the runt wanted him to. Figured it couldn't do any harm, eh?"

Still wide awake and completely overjoyed, Karan's head bobbed enthusiastically, arms still wrapped tightly around his friend.

"No, no harm. You can go get them settled in Karan's room. I'll poke in shortly."

"Mkay." Nodding, Eriol adjusted his grip on both infants and set out for the room in question.

Demare seemed to relax a little once they were out of the presense of the guardian. There was just something about them all... It made him uncomfortable.

Demian, are you all right? Clare asked a little worriedly. The demon was acting a little more calm than usual.

I'm FINE, he insisted, looking at Karan for a moment. And how long is he going to stay attached to me? Geez...

I... wouldn't know. He's only ever touched me once before... and that was a simple hug.

Karan looked back at Demare and grinned, his grip loosening slightly. He had a friend here. Demare was always cool and they got to play together all night and it wouldn't be boring. And even better, if Demare was here, then the big bad things wouldn't come back. Right? Oc course right!

"Well, here we are squirts."

The room was mostly bare, compared to the others. Plain royal blue paint covered the walls. There was a desk underneath the unadorned window on the back wall, and a cot on either side of the room. One was occupied with a pale, sleeping figure. The other had a ragged blue quilt on top, and a cardboard box atop that was stuffed with pillows of varying designs and sized. An unfinished wooden dresser was crammed into one corner, which held a glass fishbowl and an empty cage.

"Home sweet home," Eriol said sarcastically.

Glancing around the room for a moment, Demare was actually surprised. Did... all bedrooms look like this? Or was his just special? Granted, at home his own room as always containing some sort of creature at all times, all of the pixas, sprockets, and small critters being kept in there. He didn't mind since they were generally quiet company, but this... Karan's room just took the cake for being boring.

His eyes shifted to stare at the sleeping figure on one of the cots, a bit curious as to who it was. Karan had to share his room with someone...? Then again, it wasn't like Demare would have his own room forever, especially once Neko's feien returned home and the baby was born. And what was with the cardboard box??

"When yer a little bigger, runt, we've gotta do somethin 'bout this room..." It was pathetic, really. Everyone else had decent looking rooms. But then, most of them put the ideas together themselves. This one would shape up soon.

His room, his spot! Karan eyed the room as well, checking the status of it. The strange boy was asleep, but he didn't think he'd stay that way long. No one else around. And there was his box! He tugged Eriol's sleeve, finally releasing the captive arm to point at the box as his intended destination.

"Sure, sure..." Eriol put both Legends onto the cot, Karan inside the box, Demare just outside. "I dunno what we're gonna do with yer friend here, runt, so lemme go ask. Stay put, mkay?"

He patted both of them on the head and all but ran out of the room.

Demare quickly placed his hands on his head as soon as Eriol had left, and it was all he could do not to throw a fit. PATTING ON THE HEAD!! GAAAAAH! He wasn't some lit-- ...Okay, so he WAS a baby, but it was still annoying. Especially after Neko kept patting his head so much when he first arrived here. Stupid... patting...

He blinked a few times as he realized where Karan was, placing his hands on the side of the box and carefully standing up to peer inside. ...This was where he slept?? It didn't look very comfortable... And there also didn't seem to be a whole lot a room in it. Why didn't he sleep in a crib?

"Like?" he asked curiously, quirking a brow. Did the boy like sleeping in the box...?

"Yesh!" It was HIS box, after all. And he could change it to suit his liking, and hide things in it- which reminded him...

Reaching one hand behind a particularly fuzzy pillow, he pulled out a spiky green crystal, which twinkled in the moonlight that illuminated the room. After patting it delicately, he offered it to Demare for inspection.

Demare looked at the crystal curiously for a moment, gently taking it into his hands to get a closer look at it. There was something... a little familiar about it. A soft aura of power...

It feels like...

Demian... It feels a lot like that crystal we got from Raven. The one that made that dagger.

Did everyone get one, then? I wonder what will happen with this one...

Clare's mention of the dagger made him realize something. CRAP! He left it at HOME!! He sighed a little bit, handing the crystal back to Karan as he plopped down onto his bum on the cot. Great... and he'd wanted to show it off, too.

"Pweedy?" Of course, it was too late for it to do the cool thing with all the sparkles, but it was still pretty, if a bit pokey.

He dropped the crystal onto the bed and rummaged through his pillows again, this time coming up with a small dragon plush in each hand. Demare had seen these already, but maybe he would want one for the night. Then they could both have one.

Both hands stretched towards Demare. "Tak un?"

It was the dragons again. GREAT. ...Well... it was another form of company for him, at least. Reaching a hand up, he took the dragon from Karan's right hand and looked it over carefully before setting it in his lap.

"...Tank you," he said a little reluctantly, his wings drooping down a bit behind him.

Watching the darker dragon join his friend, Karan hugged the lighter one, still keeping some distance between himself and the toy, and put it aside again, digging once more through the box. There wasn't much left in there, unless he wanted to pull out THAT...

Not yet. He didn't want to get that yet.

Instead, he used the box's edge to pull himself up, grasping for the charms at his side. One of them looked old, and he slid it down the coin-embellished chain. It wasn't that one he wanted to show yet, but the other- the silver one. Clutching at the near-crescent, he held it out, almost knocking himself and the box over in the process.

Out of instinct, Demare rested a hand against the box, as if to keep it balanced. Peering at the silver charm for a moment, his hand absently reached for his own. It looked like...

Carefully, he held up his own pendant, slipping his fingers along the black string until the gold charm was high enough to reach the other boy. Save for the colors, the two pendants looked exactly alike.

"Chandra?" he questioned, wondering if it was from the same person. Why had she given them the same thing...? Or had that been on purpose?

Karan's eyes widened as the other pendant was brought into view. They were... the same? Almost. The color of Demare's pendant startled the Legend a little, his left eye twitching. The shock only lasted for a brief moment though, and soon he was restored to his normal good humor.

"Moo gihl?" All he knew is that it came from the moon girl. And that he wanted to see her again...

Now he had to know. Neko had mentioned something about the stones coming from death, after all, and if Karan had the same thing... Maybe it meant something. How he wished he could really talk right about now...

Nodding a little bit, he dropped his pendant back down, the gold charm landing on top of the dark dragon since it was in the way. ...That twitch... Did his pendant bother Karan? Thinking for a moment, he placed his hand over his own bi-colored eyes, then removed them, as if to make a point.

"See okay?" he asked, wondering when the blindness had cleared up.

He thought he'd explained that already, but... "Yuh. Awh bettah." A cheesy smile accompanied his affirmation, disguising the last remnants of discomfort.

They were the same though... there were lots of same things about them, Karan thought, not for the first time. He wished he could ask about them too, but he had trouble forming ideas, much less words... but neither of them was going anywhere. He'd ask someday.

The door creaked as DS pulled a thick fluffy quilt into the room. "You've caught us by surprise, Demare-kun. Hopefully you won't need much, but you should stay by the wall..."

Shaking the quilt out, she bunched it around both infants, using it as sort of a shield. "Now, go to sleep before I call the police on you."

Demare blinked a few times, eyeing the blanket that was being stuffed around him. Sleep? She was ordering him to sleep?? ...Well, it was getting late, and he was getting tired... BAH! He took up the dragon plushie Karan had loaned him for the night and hugged it to his chest, wondering why he needed to keep to the wall. Instead, he rested his back against Karan's box, his eyes resting upon the guardian again for a moment.

Heaving a tired sigh, DS headed to the dresser in the corner, pulling a squashed pillow from the top drawer. It was sorry looking, with a few feathers peeking out through a hole in the corner, but it was fluffy and big, which was what she needed. She fluffed it up a little, then placed it on the floor next to the cot.

"Sleep well, you two," she murmured as she exited.

Hrm. She'd never done that before... oh well, no matter. That wasn't what bothered him anyway. But sleeping? NOW?

Karan glanced at Demare, curious as to what he intended to do.

Demare's eyes followed her every move, even to her exit, before he leaned over a little bit to glance down at the pillow. ...Why was the pillow on the floor?

His narrow eyes peered up at Karan questioningly, as if expecting an answer to the event.

Just as clueless, Karan shrugged. Maybe it was because he was here or something.

"Sleep naw?" He didn't want to, but if the other boy did, he'd try...

Demare had to think about that for a moment. He hated being ordered to bed, and something about it made him uneasy. He'd go to bed when he was ready, he figured.

Shrugging a little bit, he pulled some of the blanket off of himself. "You wan?" he asked, his wings fluttering and flapping once to free themselves from the quilt.

"No." Karan's answer was clearer than most of his speech had been, and it wasn't entriely due to its simplicity. Even with all the light out, he didn't want to sleep yet. That he knew for certain.

But then, what would they do? Just sitting was boring. That wasn't why he wanted a friend to come home at all, to be bored.

Demare began to look around the room for a moment, but his eyes kept falling back to the pillow, and so the sleeping person across the room. Who WAS that, anyway? He pointed at the figure, looking back to Karan for a moment, hoping to find out at least that much while he thought up a plan.

Following Demare's hand, Karan looked across the room. Oh, that one. He still wasn't sure he trusted him...

A feeling of annoyance mixed with curiosity invades the minds of both boys.

So, Kar has a visitor tonight? No wonder Xue woke up... whee

And there was the reason why. Trembling a little, Karan looked back at Demare, wondering if he could feel it too.

Demare's eyes widened at the voice, his wings stiffening at the intrusion. T-that wasn't Clare...

D-D-D-Demian...??? Clare piped up, his voice squeaking with fright. W-what was that?!

I d-don't know! I... I'm not sure where it came from... Demian replied, Demare's hands tightening around the dragon plushie.

The figure in the other bed sits up, boucing a little. Head resting in his hands, which in turn are supported by crossed leggs, he looks over at the others.

Xue didn't mean to scare anyone... he just wanted to see who was there... sad

His distress was nearly infectious, and his hands scrunched together worriedly.

"H-how...?" Karan himself wasn't sure what the end of that sentence should be, but he had to ask something. Reaching behind the pillows again, one hand tightens around the charm on his waist, the other roots around searching for someting.

That voice wasn't his... IT WASN'T HIS!! Why was it there?! Demare's bi-colored eyes frantically searched the room, seeing nothing but the odd child across the room. That kid wasn't TALKING, though... And the voice didn't belong to Karan, either.

"WHO?!" he demanded. Who was talking to him??

Owww... the kid doesn't have to yell! Xue may not have ears, but he can hear just fine! gonk

And he's right here! Not talking, but... well, close enough.

To make sure there's no mistake, he waved one hand at them.

Still nervous, Karan edged towards the far side of his box, trying to get as much distance between the kid and him as possible. He knew who it was, that didn't surprise him... but the how was another story altogether.

Get out of my head... Demian hissed, Demare's hands coming up to grasp at his ears. GET OUT OF MY HEAD!

"S-stop it..." he whimpered aloud. He was... scared. For the first time since his death so many years ago, Demian was afraid. He closed his eyes tight, his wings wrapping tightly around his body. What was talking to him...? It was strange... And it made him very uncomfortable.

It took Karan a moment to realize that Demare was actually more scared than he was, and a moment more to decide that he had to protect him from... whatever it was. Even though the weird kid wasn't bad, he was scaring his friend, and that was bad. He had to take matters into his own hands.

For the time being, he settled for taking the rim of the box into his hands, using it as leverage. Once he was standing, he pointed a finger at the offending child. "Stop."

But... Xue didn't mean to scare anyone! He's just confused, and the kids woke him up, and...

DES! crying

Several rooms down, DS falls out of bed with a loud "thud" that could be heard by anyone who happened to be awake.

Stop.

Demare opened his eyes slowly, his vision a little blurred as Clare and Demian were both in possession of the body, the confusion having forced them both out for the moment. His eyes shifted to look up toward Karan, the two red eyes above his right opening partially as he took in what happened.

He was... helping him?

"It's okay now..." Clare whispered to seemingly no one, the voice sounding a little more mature than Demare usually did. "Do you understand, Demian?"

The child was quiet for a long moment as he continued to stare, the two extra eyes closing once more. "I think... I do..." Demian said quietly, closing his eye for a moment. "But trust is still a bit away."

You'll see in due time... It'll all be okay one day.

Demare opened his right eye again, his wings unwrapping themselves from around his body and his hands slowly dropping back down to his sides. Somehow, he was feeling a little better, but there was still something about that other boy...

DS burst through the door to the room, splintering the frame a little. "What the heck happened in here?"

Xue was asleep but Kar and his friend woke him up and he was just saying hi but they got scared and Xue doesn't know why he was being nice and then they got mad and and... crying

Sigh. She should've known better than to mix young children with empaths... especially if one was a young child AND an empath.

"Xue, it's... well, early. Go see if you can sleep in Melete's room for a while, okay?"

Xue can sleep with Mel? surprised

Not needing to be told twice, he hopped off the bead and scurried out of the room- but not before waving once more.

During this, Karan had taken the time to check on his friend. He looked a little better now, but just in case... "Dmah kay?"

Demare nodded slowly, taking up the dragon plushie again. What was that kid, anyway...? He didn't LOOK like a human... and he didn't seem to talk at all. Or was that who was talking to them?

Blinking once, he looked up toward Karan for a moment, trying to figure out what to say. ...But, what was there to even say?

"Tank you..." he decided would be good enough, looking back to the plushie again.

"Wecum," Karan replied cheerily. It looked like everything was good again. And good was good. That was all he had to think about now. Everything was good.

"As for you two... why aren't you asleep yet?"

Maybe not so good after all.

DS hardly expected an answer, or even a reaction, but felt the need to give a mini-lecture anyway. Wouldn't hurt, after all.

"It's going to be MORNING soon. If you don't get some rest, don't expect another playdate anytime soon."

Leaving it at that, she adjusted the pillow on the floor and left.

Orders. Orders orders ORDERS. He would NOT be ordered aro--... Demare stiffled a yawn as he peered back down toward the odd pillow on the floor again. Why was the guardian lady so conscious of that pillow? ...A smirk curled upon his lips as she left.

Maybe he should take the pillow.

...But what if that's what she wanted him to do?

DANG IT. Looking up to Karan again, he pointed toward the worn out pillow and asked, "What for?"

Looking at it again, Karan shrugged and shook his head. The Des lady'd never done that before, so he didn't know why she did it this time.

"Seep now?" His voice was reluctant; the night was still fresh and it called him. To do what he wasn't sure, but if he slept, he'd never know.

Demare sighed lightly, rubbing his eyes a little bit as he leaned back into his sit, then taking the plushie with his left arm to hug it to himself.

"Sleep... now," he said with a nod. He was rather tired... And if anything, they could do stuff in the morning. It wasn't really the guardian's threat that had him worried, however, as he looked up at Karan one more time. The other boy didn't look tired at all. Was he always like that...?

Well, if he was tired, then Karan wouldn't get in the way. He would try to sleep. But he wouldn't be surprised if he stayed awake all night long.

Sighing softly to himself, he snuggled deeper into the mass of pillows. "Nigh~"

Demare watched the boy disappear into the box, wrapping the quilt around himself as he rested his back against the box once more. He stared at the wall for a long moment, thinking about the day's events, and recalling something from the past. Perhaps... being in the company of another again wasn't so bad after all.

Closing his eyes, he whispered softly as he fell into slumber. "Nigh' nigh'..."

The Sleepover: Part 2
Demare's left eye slowly opened as sunlight poured into the room, the white eye trying to adjust to the brightness as the child stared blankly at the royal blue wall in front of him. This wasn't his room... His walls were still white. Wait... That's right... Demian had decided they would stay at Karan's for the night. Opening his right eye, the little baby pulled himself forward a little bit so he could flutter and flap his two wings, stretching them out while he continued to wake himself up.

It had been a long while since he had been able to sleep like that... Being allowed the pleasure to dream and Demian actually leaving him alone. Come to think of it, why did he get to be in control right now? Was it because Demian was actually sleeping? Or did the demon let him through...? Nonetheless, Clare wasn't going to let his time go to waste. Lifting a hand to cover his mouth, he yawned quietly and did his best to stand up on the cot that was, for the most part, Karan's bed. Turning around, he placed his hands carefully on the edge of the box and stood on his toes, his large bi-colored eyes peeking curiously inside to see if his friend was even awake.

Karan was curled around the lighter dragon plushie, fast asleep. His body seemed tense even during his slumber, but what of his face was visible was relaxed in comparison.

DS pushed the door open carefully, trying not to disturb anyone who happened to be sleeping. The visitor looked awake, she observed as she tiptoed in, but her own Legend was asleep as usual. Really, she would have do do something about that.

"Good morning, gentlemen," she exclaimed loudly, "for it is a good morning indeed!"

That was enough, though just barely, to distrupt Karan's rest, and he opened his left eye sleepily. Morning? Already?

Demare was caught a little off-guard as DS spoke, having not heard her come in, and he lost balance, falling right onto his bum with surprise. Looking at the guardian with wide eyes, he blinked a few times before smiling sheepishly, his wings shifting a little behind him.

"Hewwo," he said quietly with a little wave of his hand, his other hand reaching for the dark dragon plushie Karan had let him sleep with. He had to give it back, after all... It needed to be safe!

It took DS all of two seconds to melt into a puddle of ooze from the utter cuteness of what she was seeing. Much as she'd hated being called adorable and precious when she was younger, she couldn't help wanting to take the boy and give him a great big hug.

Restraint didn't come easy, but it came. "Hello yourself, little one," she grinned. "And hello to you, my little night owl."

Was she talking to him? He wasn't a bird... he didn't even have wings. But he nodded all the same, stretching on arm up into the air and the other into the side of the box.

"I don't know when you have to go home, Demare-kun, but I think we should get you some food before leaving."

...Funny. He didn't know when he had to go home, either. He merely smiled and nodded, looking toward the box after a moment when he realized that Karan was indeed awake.

...Wait. He got to eat?? It had been a while since Clare was in control of the body during meal times, so it was probably a good thing that souls didn't get hungry. Food sounded rather good, however... His stomach told him so.

Food did sound good. He was usually asleep in the morning, so he wouldn't have anything until lunchtime at least, but he realized that now that he was awake, he was hungry.

"Alrighty then, since I'm not hearing any complaints, breakfast it is." It took a moment to figure out how to carry both babies at once, and DS finally decided that one in each arm would be best. Bending over, she cautiously grabbed each one and pulled them towards her, and once she was balanced, teetered back out the door and towards the kitchen.

"Hey, who's that?"

"Ying, yer supposed ta flip the pancakes!"

"Be careful, that looks hot..."

"I say, please don't wave that around at this hour!"

Karan stared at the kitchen, completely awake. What were all those people doing there? He'd seen them all before, but never at the same time...

"This is Demare, a friend of Karan's," DS annouced to the kitchen. "He'll be joining us for breakfast. Right?" She looked at the boys for their approval.

Demare had lightly grasped onto DS' shirt when she picked him up, dropping the dragon plushie onto the cot before they left the room. Upon spying the kitchen, however, a bit of an odd sensation overwhelmed him.

There were so many strangers... So many people he didn't know. While they seemed to be a part of Karan's family, he began to feel a little nervous in their presense, a slight fear rising within him. They wouldn't hurt him... He knew that. So why was he so afraid?

Shyly, he began to sink into DS' arm, his wings cautiously curling around himself as he did his best not to be troubled. He had to stay calm... He had to keep Demian asleep...

It was a little overwhelming to Karan too, but he reached over to lay a protective hand on Demare's arm. Even if he wasn't as big yet, it was his house and he'd protect his friend from... whatever he needed protecting from.

"Okay, headcount," DS muttered. "Lionel, Eri, Yeine, Ying... where's Xue? And Melete?"

"Haven't seen Mel this mornin. Xue neither."

"Linnea?"

"She's asleep."

Taking this into consideration, DS nodded. "I think I'm gonna take these two out for breakfast. Too many people here."

It was a good idea. Even though Karan was determined to be the strong one, if only by a little, it was getting harder to keep up the front with everyone staring at him. The suggestion of leaving was warmly welcomed, but he looked at Demare to make sure it was okay with him.

Demare looked up at the guardian woman for a moment, trying to figure out what she said. Take them out for breakfast? What... exactly did that mean? He'd never really eaten outside of his home before, so this was all a little strange for him.

Looking to Karan, he felt rather comforted that his friend was letting him know he was there, and he reached up a little hand to take Karan's in his own. Demare smiled a little bit, as if that would answer any question someone had; he'd go where ever Karan wanted to go.

The simple gesture did a world of good for Karan's plummeting confidence, and reassured by way his own reassurance, he smiled.

"It seems settled then. Lionel, you're in charge, so don't screw it up."

The man in the frilly apron scowled and tried to gather whatever shards of dignity he had left. "I won't."

It would be a tad troublesome to carry them both all the way to the nearest diner, but probably better than dealing with a pair of fussy babies in addition to hungry kids and disgruntled nobility. Mind made up, she nodded, more to herself than anyone else. "Let's go."

Only one question remained in her mind- where to? Still, that would be easily figured out once she decided how to get wherever she was getting, and as another idea popped into her head, she started towards the backyard.

"Sirius," she called as she approached a large tree, "could you do me a favor?"

A large black creature fell from the tree, red wings fluttering gracefully as it landed on four yellow-tipped paws. "What?"

What indeed. What WAS that thing? He didn't remember seeing it before, but seeing it now made Karan start to shiver, mostly at the sheer size of the creature. It was even bigger than his guardian!

Demare blinked as they headed outside, and his eyes grew a little wide as the creature appeared from out of the tree. It was.... HUGE! But so black and pretty... It kind of reminded him of some of th--...

Demare's bi-colored eyes turned toward Karan as the other boy began to shiver, curious as to why he was scared. Was there something threatening about the creature...? Nonetheless, his grip on the boy's hand tightened slightly, reassuring him that he was there and he wouldn't let anything happen. He smiled a little bit to his friend again, hoping that would help.

"Kara okay," he said softly, his wings shifting a little bit.

It was pretty, yes, but so big! And so dark... Karan couldn't help but feel unsettled as he took the creature in. Still, he was with his friend, and let himself surrender the role of protector. At that time, he definitely felt more vulnerable.

"Where?" The creature pawed at the ground nervously, seemingly as uncomfortable around the children as they were around him.

"A diner. Cafe, drive-thru, anything. We're all hungry. Aren't you, Sirry"

Wincing a little at the name, he nodded. "Fine." He lowered himself to the ground, making it easier for DS to get herself seated just behind his wings, which started flapping as soon as she was ready. One leap, two, and they rose slowly, leaving the ground behind.

Once again, Demare's eyes widened at the event. The creature could fly! ...Wait, THEY were flying! His own wings began to fidget a little as he looked around, watching as they left the ground before looking to Karan. This was so awesome!

Karan wasn't sure whether to be thrilled or terrified, and settled on a 60/40 mixture of the two. Still, he was grateful to have Demare's hand to cling to more than ever, as the sight of everything becoming smaller was startling. Yet absolutely beautiful.

Once she was sure that her charges were okay, DS set about looking around. "There," she pointed down, "let's go down there."

As they began to descend, still quite a ways from the ground, Karan tried to make out what they were going to. Green? No... it was trees. Trees, and a lawn. Were they going to land in a forest?

Demare looked to where DS was pointing, curious as to where she was telling the creature to go. What was that place...? It didn't looke very familiar, but maybe that's because they were still in the air.

It wasn't a forest, but rather a large park. It wasn't as crowded as it might have been later in the day, but there were still several families scattered around, some playing, others eating, yet others just sitting around having a good time.

Sirius set the trio down near the edge of the great lawn, and waited patiently as DS set Karan and Demare down next to him. "Where are you going?"

"To get breakfast. Watch them, would you?" Waving cheerily at everyone, DS ran towards a small silver cart at the end of the lawn and joined the throng of people surrounding it.

It looked interesting, he had to admit. Lots of open space, which was always good, and lots of people. For the first time since he went to bed the previous night, Karan felt completely comfortable with his surroundings, and he squeezed Demare's hand tightly.

Demare watched the guardian woman wander away, his fingers shifting a little bit as Karan squeezed his hand. ...At least they weren't alone, right? Lots of space between people was a very good thing, he decided. Neko had a lot of residents, and even they weren't ever in the same room at once. Feeling much better, he leaned back just far enough so that he could see the large creature when he looked up, lifting his free hand up to pat the fur lightly.

Oooo, it was soft!

"Hewwo," he said with a smile, then looked to Karan for a moment. "Sof'."

Karan watched Demare pet the strange creature, but didn't try to do it himself. Yes, soft things were absolutely fantastic, but he didn't trust that thing yet. Still, if his friend was doing it, he should be able to as well. His hand shook as he stroked the dark fur, steadying more with each repeat of the gesture.

"Sof," he agreed.

Sirius smiled, as best as as a Tala could smile. This wasn't too bad. Reminded him of spending time with his own children, if only a little.

"Okay, here we go." A paper bag dropped onto the grass in front of them, DS following suit. "For me, a ham and egg sandwich, and for the kiddies, applesauce and oatmeal!"

A bowl of each was plunked down in front of the kids, sans spoons, and DS ran off again. "Forgot napkins!"

Demare's attention snapped to the bag as it was dropped, his wings stiffening as he grew alert of the "intruder". Watching the guardian run off again, he blinked a few times, looking down at the bowls set in front of him and his friend. Applesauce and oatmeal, huh? He looked to Karan for a moment, wondering if it was really okay it eat it.

The food looked innocent enough, but you could never be to careful. Still, he'd been the wimp for a while, so Karan decided it was his turn to take a risk. One pointer finger dipped into the applesauce, the other into the oatmeal, and both entered his mouth at the same time. A strange taste to be sure, but delicious! Grinning, he stuck a hand in the oatmeal and then in his mouth, nodding. It was good!

Demare stared at Karan a little blankly at first before looking to his own food, contemplating the style of eating. Hands? Was this stuff finger food? It wouldn't hurt, it seemed... Dipping a couple of fingers into the oatmeal, he scooped out enough to fill his hand, then quickly stuffed his hand into his mouth.

...Hey, this was fun AND good. And very gooey like the bananas Guinevere had shared with him that one time.

Taking his other hand, he dipped that into the applesauce and did the same as before. He couldn't help but giggle a little bit, his wings twitching happily.

After some experimenting, Karan discovered that the oatmeal was thick enough to stick together, whereas the applesauce ran through his fingers when he tried to get more than a little. But when he held his applesauce-dripping hand over the oatmeal and then scooped out the flavored bit- mmmm, delicious! Giggling with delight, he pointed, wondering if Demare would like his idea. Even if not, both foods were pretty good alone.

Demare pondered this for a moment, pausing his oatmeal covered hand before he stuck it in his mouth. At the same time...? It couldn't hurt, right? Sticking the oatmeal hand into the applesauce so it would just cover, he proceeded to stick the new mix into his mouth to taste.

...It wasn't bad, actually. In fact, it tasted better than it did by itself! With a soft squeal of delight, he repeated the action again, eating a little slower to salvage the taste.

Peering at Demare sideways, Karan sat up a little straighter and moved with more grace and thought to his moves, emulating the older Legend. Taking time didn't make the food taste any better, but it did make the taste last longer. Humming delightedly, he thrusted his hand back into the bowl, submerging it a little further than he'd had in mind. His sleeve dripped clumps of oatmeal onto the rest of him, but Karan didn't seem to care. The food was good, the space was good, what company he had was good, and that was all he really cared about.

Out of the corner of his eyes, Demare noticed the mess Karan was making. Maybe it was because he had sleeves... Looking at his hands for a moment, however, he realized that he wasn't any better. The loose part of his bandages had made their way into his food, one of the cleaner ones starting to sink into the applesauce due to being so wet now. Lifting and gathering up the loose ends, he began to shake the bandages, little bits of oatmeal and applesauce flicking about.

Karan squealed and whipped his arms up to shield his face from the flying food, sending more splattering in the other direction. This was fun! A bit sticky, but fun all the same.

DS dropped a thin stack of napkins onto the grass, taking in the scene shockedly. "What... a... mess!"

Demare stopped waving his bandages about, glancing up at the guardian woman for a moment. What was a mess? Taking another look around, he realized what she was talking about, and giggled sheepishly, hiding his dirty hands behind his back.

"I sowwy," he said shyly with a bashful smile.

Resuming his copying game, Karan shoved his soggy sleeves behind him. They started to feel icky, and he knew that his guardian would insist on doing the whole washing thing again because of it. Best to be nice and see if she'd forget the whole thing. "Sowwy."

Again the temptation to melt from the cuteness was hard to resist, but possible. "Aw, it's okay loves. But we'll have to get you cleaned up, and I'm sure your going to be missed soon..."

Sirius, who had dozed off, blinked. "Hrm? Are we leaving so soon?"

"I think so. It looks like they got breakfast, at least. And we'll have to get Demare home soon."

It took all of a minute to clean up, shoving the messy bowls into the bag, and using the napkins to clean everything as well as possible. It was a temporary solution at least.

As DS approached Demare to clean him, she paused. What would be the best way to handle the bandages? Surely they were there for a reason, but wouldn't fresh ones be better? As a test, she tried to unravel one, doing it slowly to see how the child would react. The last time she tried to remove something without a Legend's permission, she'd nearly lost a nail.

As DS started to reach toward his bandages, Demare's hand shot up quickly and pressed hard against her palm, his two extra eyes opening partially as his two bi-colored ones narrowed into a glare. It seemed that was all it took to awaken Demian, and poor Clare was too off guard to even fight for control.

"No," he almost hissed, his wings stiffening a little bit. "No touch."

Yep, it seemed that they all were temperamental about something. Normal enough. Still, she wasn't going to let a sticky-armed baby get her messy too.

"Okay then, I won't touch. All I'm going to do is wrap a couple napkins around your arms, and let Neko-san deal with you. Okay?" It wasn't a plan she liked, especially handing a mess she'd made over to a pregnant woman, but there wasn't any choice.

Karan sat back and chewed his sleeve. Mmm, appley~

Demare's extra eyes closed once more as he put his arm down, still glaring up at the woman. "Fine," was all he said, hesitating for a moment before holding up both arms for her to wrap the napkins around them.

DS was more focused on Demare's arms than his eyes, and hurriedly wrapped the appendages in thin napkins.

Less occupied, Karan did notice the eyes, and frowned. Did that happen before? Whatever it was, as long as his friend was still okay, he didn't particularly care. But while his caretaker cleaned the rest of their picnic spot, he crawled closer to Demare.

"Dmah okie?"

Once the guardian woman was done, Demare began to shake his hands about a little, wondering just how well the napkins had been put on. Ugh... now they were stuck to him... His wings twitched slightly at Karan's approach, and only his eyes turned to glance at the boy. Was he okay? He was FINE... Was there any indication that he wa--...

CRAP.

Demian, what's wrong? Clare piped up, still saddened that he had to leave so suddenly.

Demian was quiet for a moment as he tried to figure out how exactly to explain. I think... he saw them.

Clare, however, was very confused. Saw what? What did he see?

My eyes.

Your... eyes?

My real eyes.

Demare opened his mouth to say something, but no words would come out. Dang it... DANG IT! No one was supposed to know! Neko was the only other person to see them... The only one that was SUPPOSED to see them.

N-no one... must have payed any attention before...

This ruins EVERYTHING!

Demian! P-please... calm down. It'll be okay!

How do you know that?

I...

How do you know that he won't just abandon us like they did before?

But Demian, he--

He's not like us, Clare! He's different! Don't you get it? He's not like us!

Clare was quiet as he tried to think. Demian did have a point, but Karan was still Karan... And Demare would always be Demare.

M-maybe... we should tell him...?

What good will that do, idiot? It's not like he's capable of comprehending what we are.

You'll never know unless you try...

...Curse him for being right. But the point still stood... Karan more than likely wouldn't understand. However, Demare wouldn't be able to voice out his words like he could think them. ...Dang it.

"I... explain when bigger," he managed to put together. "But... I fine."

"Gooh." As long as he was fine, whatever he saw didn't really matter. He'd find out later, and that was good enough. Why bother rushing?

With slightly sticky hands, DS picked up both Legends and settled them on the Tala. "Let's go."

"To?" Sirius stretched his wings, preparing to take off.

"Legend HQ. You've been there before, right?

"Um... sure." Not that it had been a pleasurable experience, but whatever. This time he'd wait outside.

Another good stretch, and he lept into the air.

Demare didn't seem phased this time as they began to fly, his wings calmly curling around his body a little bit. Right now, his mind was distracted, mentally cursing himself and trying to think up ways around this whole ordeal. Karan saw them... and he wasn't afraid. So now what? Now where would things go...?

This is so frustrating... he thought to himself with a sigh.

As the Tala flew upwards, Karan stopped sucking the applesauce out of his sleeve (the flavor was mostly gone anyway) and folded his arms together, shivering a little. Being up so high was amazing, but a little scary. He felt as if he could see the whole world from where he was, and that was both comforting and unsettling at the same time.

DS frowned as she looked around. It was later than she thought it would be. "On second thought... perhaps we'd better just take Demare home. Surely Neko-san will worry soon..."

That caught Karan's attention, and he looked at his fellow Legend hastily. He was leaving?

Home? Demare's eyes shifted to glance at the guardian woman for a moment before he felt the wary glance of the other legend. The woman had a point, sadly enough... He hadn't exactly asked if it would be okay, and he needed to get away from the two of them as it was. Not that they were bad, but he needed to think.

"Tha' fine," he muttered quietly, closing his eyes so he wouldn't have to look at Karan.

Amused by his approval, DS nodded, fishing out a small notepad. "Let's see... there we go. Sirius, we're headed east instead."

It was difficult to not look disappointed, but if his friend wanted to leave, Karan didn't want to stop him. In truth, all he really craved at the time was sleep. But it would be far more comforting if he knew he'd have someone there when he woke up.

"See la'uh?" He had to try to see him again later. Or anyone, but Demare was the first choice.

Demare seemed to hesitate before nodding, still not looking to the other boy. "Yuh," was all he said, his wings fidgetting behind him a little bit as DS gave out directions to his home.

It didn't take long to reach the address she'd been given, DS was surprised to discover. Apparently, her house was now closer to others, a fact she had yet to adjust to. "This's it, squirts," she said cheerfully, dismounting before picking up the Legends.

The door presented a problem, and she ended up using her foot to knock on it. "Hello? Anyone home?"

"Just a minute!" a voice called out from within the house, soon after followed by a sound of glass breaking and something tumbling over.

"MIKI! What'd I tell you about leaving those toy cars around?!"

"Eeeeeeeee!!!! Don't hurt me!!"

"Yes, thank you SO FREAKING MUCH for helping the poor pregnant woman off the floor. Because I CAN SO GET UP BY MYSELF!"

Demare lifted a brow at the screams coming from inside, folding his arms across his chest once more. What the heck was this? He was gone, and chaos was STILL ensuing? How dare they have fun without him to cause trouble!

After a few moments, the doorknob finally turned, the door opening a little bit so a golden eye could peer outside. Neko twitched slightly, straightening up the best that she could with her swelled up belly, and opened the door enough to see the other guardian.

"Um... sorry about that," she sighed, blushing with embaressment. "It's been a little... hectic this morning..." Glancing over her shoulder for a moment, she checked to make sure there weren't any more booby traps lying in wait for her. "...Er, would you like to come in?"

DS's eyebrows crawled towards her hairline. Was it possible she had come across a house more chaotic than her own? It did seem likely, judging from the noise, that she'd at least found a match. And if it was anything like home, she knew that there would probably be no preparations for visitors.

"Thank you, but I'm afraid we'll have to get home soon. This little one's falling asleep."

It was true; Karan was having trouble keeping his eyes open. But he did recognize Neko, even if only a little, and let out a sleepy "Haiiii..."

Neko purred softly as she looked at the other bi-colored child, smiling sweetly through her pain as she reached out a hand and gently took a small hand underneath her index finger, a small handshake of sorts. "It's good to see you again, little one," she cooed, her tail flicking a little bit.

Looking to DS, she nodded in understanding, moving to free the woman's arm by taking up Demare in her own. "If he caused any trouble, I'm really sorry... hopefully he wasn't too bad," she said, bowing her head a little bit. "Thank you for letting him stay with you last night, though..."

She mockingly glared at the child for a moment. "Even if he didn't ASK me."

Demare flinched slightly, opening up his right eye to glare up at the woman. Hmph... What did she know? It's not like she would have cared, right? And it wasn't like he'd hurt anyone.

Karan smiled a little at the touch of the other woman, but all traces of that failed as Demare was taken away. He was alone again.

"No trouble at all," DS replied, shifting Karan's weight in her arms. "He was fine, in fact, and-" Wait a second. "You didn't know? I was under the impression that he had permission..." Seemed her eldest had forgotten to tell her something.

Oh crap.

Neko's ears perked up a little bit, her eyes shifting to look at the guardian again. "Well... no, I didn't. I wasn't able to go with Demare to the headquarters last night, so I'd sent Xiao... Then he came back by himself, and had quite a bit of explaining to do."

The demon hanyou sighed softly, her tail curling a little bit as she thought for a moment. "Xiao thought... it would be for the better, since I've been a little stressed lately, if Demare were out of the house for a while. He's new here, so he didn't really understand the whole permission thing, but I figured if Demare was with a friend, then it would be okay. Besides... if anything DID happen, I assumed you would have called or something, and since you didn't, I figured things would be okay."

"I can assure you, however, that this won't be happening again for a while... Need to lay down a few laws, it seems, and hope for the best."

Great, that meant he was in for a lecture. Maybe he should have stayed with the guar--

"And you've given me a wonderful excuse to give him a bath. It seems they had a little fun with their food."

"NUH!" Demare screamed, trying to free himself from Neko's arms, but failing miserably. "No bath!!" ANYTHING BUT THAT!!!

Urp, she'd forgotten about that. "Yes, that was probably my fault. I'm so sorry... but it seems that they both get baths today. Anyway, I'm terribly sorry. Eriol should have known better than to take someone without permission, but it seems we'll have a little talk of our own."

"Anyway, I'm glad that everything's okay now. Maybe we can go for coffee sometime, let someone else watch the kids, and just relax, hm? A tempting idea, even if it wasn't likely.

Neko smiled a little bit, shifting the struggling Demare in her arms. "That sounds like a good plan, actually," she admitted, her ears twitching a little bit. "I just may take you up on that offer."

Success? DS beamed. "Alrighty then!"

The conversation had bored Karan to sleep. Not a hard feat to manage, considering his exhaustion, but he made it obvious with a soft snore as he tried to roll over.

"Oh dear..." Tightening her grip around the child, she sighed. "I should be going, I guess. If you need anything, don't hesitate to call!" Her free arm waved limply as she started to mount the patient Tala once more.

Neko lifted a hand into a wave herself, stepping into the doorway for a moment. "Take care, ne? And again, thank you for letting Demare stay with you last night. I owe you one!" she called to the woman with a little laugh. "Don't be a stanger!"

"I won't," is the final call, the woman already on her way to the sky.

[Depths of Shadow's Call: Demare's Growth]

Neko Girl

Neko Girl

Old faces, New hope
Pink while holding a large bag of supplies, followed closely behind by Cheska with a bouncing and babiling Guinevere on her back, waddled into HQ. Pink immediately plopped the bag on the ground by the wall and headed straight for the couch, looking for not only some relaxation but intelectual stimuli. She missed out on adult conversations in her house, being there were no adults in there.

Guinevere scooched off of Cheska's back and plopped firmly onto her diapred rump. She began to look around the room, Cheska following her gaze, to hopefully see some friends. Maybe the boys from the other day would come back. She particullarly liked the Loki one, he was very nice, especially for a boy!

Xiao opened the door quietly, pale blue eyes peering into the headquarters, curious if anyone was around. It looked empty, so perhaps that was a good thing... With Demare's recent development, he was almost worried about any da--

"OUTTA MY WAY!" Demare demanded, pushing the fox tahnee through the door and stepping into the familiar room. "Geez! What's with you? First you didn't want me to come here, then you INSISTED on coming with me! What, now I can't be here?"

Xiao had nearly lost his balance by the push, and as the child spoke he simply straightened himself up and listened. Sometimes, he wondered why he put up with the child's attitude at all... He'd teach him a lesson, but there was something about Demare that actually frightened him. Something about the shadows...

Quietly, the tahnee moved away from the door, crossing his arms coolly over his chest as he waited for the legend to finish what he wanted to do.

"Hmph."

In a huff, the halfling crossed his arms over his chest and began to look around, his bi-colored eyes taking in the surroundings. Empty... The room was empty. Shaking his head, he sighed as the longer part of his hair slipped over his shoulders. BORING!

A tall, handome looking man pushed the door of the HQ open gently and peered inside with squinting blue eyes. Once he had deemed it both safe and comfortable, he entered, taking care not to stir the child in his arms. The man looked like he belonged in a history book rather than the HQ, but the resting babe seemed not to notice.

In fact, Karan didn't seem to notice anything. His eyes had a rather glazed over look, and it was hard to tell whether he was awake or not.

Guinevere, apon hearing the stiring of the door looked directly at it. Suddenly a cute and fluffy looking fox came into the room and then a large, scarier child with bandages that looked bad, like he was in a fight and came out with many boo-boos appeared. He looked familar but she couldn't place it, regardless he looked scary.

She began searching for a familar and comforting face when A wierd man she had never seen before came in with Karan in his arms. She beamed at him and began waving her arms frantically. "O'er heeeeere" She shouted to him, dancing in her seated position.

Karan raised his head sluggishly and looked over. Had someone said something? Did it even matter?

The man caught on though, and placed his charge next to the calling girl. "Now you see that you behave," he said by way of warning, and proceeded to sit on the cough, back straight despite his evident exhaustion.

*The day has been long and rather exhausting for Neo. His morning was dredged down with a rainstorm , his afternood by planning...and now he had ruined a chance at a good thing and has been brooding since. The young man lowered his hood and eased into the sofa...it was more welcoming then most places*

Demare's ears twitched slightly at the sound, his wings fidgetting a little behind him. The man that walked in looked a little familiar... Wasn't that someone that lived with Karan? To confirm the thought, his glare had spotted the little legend in the man's arms, the other bi-colored child Clare had such an interest in.

Another sound, and his attention was drawn to the little girl on the floor, her slightly unusual clothing giving away who she was in his eyes. It was that touchy-feely kid... The one always demanding so much damn attention. Maybe it would be best that he left...

Please don't go... a faint voice whispered in his mind. I wanted to see them...

I don't particularly care what you want to do, Demian replied a bit angrily, and where the hell have you been the last few days?

I can't see...

What?

Something happened when we grew. I can't see like I could before when you were in control. I can't even feel anything...

You're not making any sense, stupid.

Let me have control so I can explain it a little better, please.

In your dreams.

Demare's gaze shifted once more to the new man that had entered the room. His eyes only narrowed further as he turned toward the door, wondering if it was a mistake coming here today. No one would know him... No one would care. He already felt alone in the one place he felt he could escape to.

Demian, please?

No.

Pink got startled as two men sat next to her on the couch but was giddy all at the same time. YAY, adult interaction! She thought to herself and turned to the rather wet man, leaning over and giving him a hug. "Hi Neo, how are we today, besides a little soggy?" She asked with a laugh and trying to almost brush some of the rain droplets off of him. She then turned to the other man, the one she didn't know, and greeted him. "Hello, I'm Pink who are you?"

Guinevere waved happily to Karan as he was plopped down beside her. "Hi Kar-an! You good?" She asked, starring into his eyes for they looked a little different, a little like the last time when he couldn't see her. She hoped he could see for she felt so bad for him when he couldn't.

*Neo motioned his head toward Pink and pulled his hood back , nodding slightly as he relaxed back into the subtle warmth of the couch*...I'm...bleh...thx for asking *he stated solemnly as he pulled a cookie from his pouch for Guin*

The man flinched a little, clutching his knees tightly. "Pink? Is that a name these days?" Some colors were acceptable names, like Scarlet, and Violet... but Pink? Still, who was he to judge? "It's a pleasure, Miss Pink," he murmured, not offering his name.

"Mmmm?" Oh, it was the Gwin girl. "Gweee," he warbled quietly. It was nice to see her. He suppsed. Didn't make much difference either way.

On slow, weary feet, Ruri stepped into the HQ after quite the absence, Loki at her side, both dripping wet. Loki pulled the lantern from the shelter of his shirt and shuffled off to a nearby recliner, while Ruri brushed off the water in scoops, ringing out her hair at the doormat. Leaning over to be sure she wasn't dripping too much water, she stepped over to the couch and nestled against the arm of it slowly, eyeing her adopted son carefully, a look of dejection ever-present on her tired face.

*Neo took a tiny red stone from his shirt and crushed in his palm , creating a fine reddened mist in his fist that he poured over his head. The dust scattered across his clothing and colored it a bright red as it heated the fabric and dried it instantaneously , fading away after it's intended effect wore off.* I love my trivial magic...*he murmured to himself as the woman entered the room ; Neo tilted his head toward her and echoed a slight "hello"*

Tilting her head over to face him in return, her expression remained guilted though her eyes appeared quite listless, an odd combination. Waggling her fingers in possibly the most pathetic attempt of a greeting ever, she huddled her pruny limbs to her chest and warmed herself. "Hello.." came her daft murmur, tone much warmer than her skin.

Loki, on the other end, felt slightly guilty looking at her. She was so cold, and him, insulated by fur and his powers, so warm; he held out his lantern in a kind gesture, handing it to her with a very faint grin. They both seemed to quiet.

Pink gave the man a dirty look. Why did everyone have to ask if Pink was a name, just deal with it. However she answered him polietly, "Why yes it is a name. And it would be nice to meet you too if I knew your name, sir." She added a smile to the end and turned back to Neo. "Aww what's wrong?" She asked as she watche Guinevere turn slowly away from Karan toward Neo and the outstretched cookie.

"Cook." Guinevere said firmly, taking the cookie from Neo. "Thank Mommy friend!" She said happily, about to shove it into her mouth, opening wide and getting ready for the plunge when she looked over and saw Karan. How could she forget her friend! She broke the cookie in half and put half the cookie toward him. "Cook?"

Hearing the newcommers she looked up and saw happily it was the Loki one from the other day. He was nice, fluffy, and BIG! She could hardly contain her excitement. "Loki, Loki! Play here!" She sing-songed happily to him, waving him over after shoving her half of the cookie into her mouth and spewing a few crumbs with her speech.

Demare eyed the two that entered the room, his eyes particularly watching the young boy. There was something about him... Something oddly familiar, but the memory was so faint he didn't think much of it.

Who is it? Clare piped up, hoping to at least get details from the demon.

Like I freaking know, Demian hissed.

S-sorry...

You should be.

The child's hands balled up a little bit, his fingers idly feeling the tip of the leathery wing of his dagger that hung on his side, the blade tucked underneath the bandages. What was wrong with him? He WANTED to leave... so why didn't he? Sighing lightly, he closed his eyes and seated himself on the floor, shifting his arms to take hold of his dagger and slipped the weapon out of it's makeshift sheath, setting the precious item in his lap.

*The boy removed another stone from his jackets interior pocket and crushed it accordingly. Lifting himself from the seat he maneuvered behind the girl and sprinkled it over her , sealing her in an instant and respectable heat that dried her wet form and hopefully dispelled any chills within her* "The names Neo...nice to meet you" *It was obvious that introductions weren't the boys strong suit*

*After introducing himself , Neo noticed Guin eating her cookie and a slight smile spread across his demeaned palette of a face. Hoping it was ok , he leant down and handed Guin and Karan their own cookie along with a few veggie sticks* "Just...a bad day Pink"

"You may address me as Lionel, Miss. I must ask you to forgive my rudeness; these are trying times." He nodded his head stiffly, and turned back to watch the children.

Slowly he extended a hand towards the cookie, and once he reached it, it took even longer for him to put the confection in his mouth, where he sucked at it. His eyes started to clear a little, and finally he started to take in the room.

Shadow brushed her hand up against the door as it began to close behind whomever had entered before her. She clasped her hand firmly around the small chain that dangled from Seven's side as he tried to scramble inside infront of her.

There were people here! And other's like him! Oooh what an exciting bit of change from the norm! Seven's wings flitted breifly as his legs peddled in place. Little did he know he was being held in place by Shadow. She wasn't about to let him go to take apart something else.

With a cough she gave the chain a small tug and the boy stopped running in place and stood there, a large grin plastered across his lips. What an exciting place indeed, he'd remembered being here long ago, but couldn't recall the faces in the room.

Loki rose to his feet, shuffling over to Guin and ruffling her hair a bit. He seemed more affectionate today. He'd hugged Sai, and grinned down at a child. He waved a bit, "Hey there," he replied to the excited little bundle, smiling softly. He cast a gaze over to Demare with a light blink, though soon turned back to Guin. He remembered him, vaguely. He remembered those wings...

At the sudden warmth, she jumped a bit, cheeks painted a faint rose hue for a moment at her surprise. She sunk back into the couch leisurely, running a hand through her hair with a grin. She offered the other to him, implying a hand shake, as she added, "Ruri, a pleasure."

"Its ok," Pink said smiling at him. "Now it is very nice to meet you Lionel." She followed his intent gaze which landed apon the children. "Don't worry about them," She said nonchlantly, "All the legends seem to behave very well with each other. This is really a very safe place with no need to keep an eagle eye on them every second. It's ok to relax" She said, leaning back into the couch and trying to put the man at ease.

Guinevere looked at him as he took the cookie and ate it. She wondered why he was having such troubles, it was after all, a very simple task. She suddenly remembered what happened a little while ago to him. "Karan see or no see?" She asked waving one of her tiny little hands before his face as if to be able to justify what he would answer.

Her gaze broke away from Karan when she saw Loki. "Loki hiiii!" She said happily, patting the carpet next to her for him to sit. She wanted to play with both of her friends, not just be carried around by her big friend, that would be rude and even she knew that being a little baby and all. "This karan!" She said, pointing to him as she waited for him to sit down with them.

Pink smiled to Neo. "Don't worry, its always ok to fatten up any of my kids." She finished with a laugh and watched Guinevere grinning from ear to ear with all the stimuli around her and took the cookie happily munching on it before turnning back to the legends and awaiting the questions and answers at hand.

"I hope you feel better! Good choice in comming here, watching the little ones can always raise your spirits." Pink replied.

*Expecting her to slap him rather then offer a greeting he simply extending his left hand toward her , it's bandage splitting slightly and revealing an odd symbol with light blue/purple lines extending along his fist and seeminly up his arm* "Pleasure indeed" *He placed himself next to her and rewrapped his fist as he slowly wiped the dense fabric of his jacket on his glasses , removing any residual moisture* "Sorry if my method of warming you was annoying...or..whatever"

Even more people? It was all still boring. And GEEZ! That baby looked almost too happy. A slight twitch from his white wing made him realize something, as he stared a moment longer. That was another face from a long time ago... However, he remembered that face himself.

Demian?

Would you LEAVE ME ALONE?

That kid... What was his name?

Pink's advice seemed to go unnoticed; the man'sposition remaining stiff and upright. However, it had helped. "That is good to hear, Miss. I was asked to watch the young one this evening, and I want to ensure his well-being while he is in my care."

"S... see." It was as if he was unsure, but the final response was emphatic. The crowd was doing Karan some good, and his eyes cloded and opened, this time even clearer. There was someone near Guin- someone scary. Someone bright. Rather than get to close to him, and Guin in the proccess, he scootched himself back slowly. Maybe they wouldn't hurt him.

She took the hand and shook it gently. As it retreated to the side, she tilted her head and quirked a brow. "Not annoying in the least, simply startled me," she replied and smoothed out her skirt idly. Leaning back against the couch, she kept a careful eye on Loki. What was he up to?

Meanwhile, Loki, still seated near Guin, glanced up to Shadow and Seven. He's got goggles, just like me, he thought and grinned slightly, before leaning back against the table behind him. Eyeing Karan closely as he scooted back, he tilted his head and muttered, "I won't hurt you."

There were soo so many people here Seven didn't know where to start! Not to mention he was being held back by Shadow.. HMMM! "Pabaa!" He blurted and flitted his wings a few times, hovering above the ground a breif moment before he turned and started climbing up Shadow's side.

"Augh! Seven! Calm dooOOOW-- oof" With a thud the two of them fell to the floor and Seven scrambled to sit ontop of Shadow's head. He gripped two seperate locks of hair and tugged gently,"Up, up!" He said, making sure he would keep his balance atop his guardian. He wanted to be up high so he could see everyone, and being ontop of Shadow HAD to be the best way.

And so, with a groan, Shadow carefully moved to her feet to appease the child, and to stop him from tugging on her hair and messing it up even more. GROAN!

Guinevere climbed into Loki's lap and snuggled down with her diapred rump. She turned and looked toward where he was looking and saw a new legend. He looked nice and friendly, but what the heckk did she know, she thought everyone was nice and friendly...well except for that breena, but she knew she was evil, no doubt about that. She started to wave over the new legend when she saw in the corner of her eye Karan back away. "What wrong?" She asked, pouting slightly. "No like big Loki?"

that he was big? No, the white fuzzy girl was big, but she was nice and made him feel better. This one was... "Hot," he murmured, the most thing he'd said in days. As he spoke, he wiggled even further away. "Hot."

Guinevere nodded enthusiastically. "Loki have hot toy. But not real hot. It safe. He showed me." She crawled out of the safe comfort of Loki's lap and went to Karan, patting him gently on the shoulder. "It ok, I romise!" She said, nodding and patting, nodding and patting.

Daftly petting along Guin's hair, distantly, he eyed Karan. "Hot... yes, I am. Fire is my life," he replied, knowing the baby probably did not understand, but trying anyway. "But I can be cold, too," he added, nodding slowly. He didn't know if that was entirely true, but he felt an obligation to comfort the child. He didn't want to scare anyone, right now.

Did that make sense? It reminded him a little of what the moon girl had said, about the sun and the moon not belonging together. Curiously, Karan held out the sun side of his scarf. "Hot briigh?"

Guinevere looked from the scarf to the departing Loki, which she waved goodbye to sadly before he rushed out the door. "Kind like." She said after much though. "Nice and soft like scarf. Hot like sun. Not too bright to be bad." Guinevere finally concluded, feeling smart with all of her conclusions and assumptions she had just drawn to ease Karan.

Guin's deductions were ignored, and despite the fact that the scary one had left, he edged away from where he had been standing. It was warm there, a reminder of him, and of brightness. Besides, there had to be SOMEONE else out there he could play with. Anyone.

Guinevere pouted as Karan kept backing up. Why didn't he want to believe loki was nice, and more importantly, why didn't he seem to want to play with her. With a large huff she began to crawl away, toward the new legend. He looked interesting with the leash and all but just before she made much headway in that direction she was scooped up.

"You know the drill little one. Its night night time." Guinevere nodded and waved to everyone. "Nightnightnightnightnightnight." She said as she was carried out of the HQ.

Seven's eyes practically glowed seeing everyone in the room and he finally grew interested enough to travel on his own. The door to the building was shut, so Shadow was pretty sure he wouldn't get away, and he wasn't one to run off too far anyways, so she decided to let him go. It was better then having him sit on her head anyways.

Seven lept from his perch on shadow's head, flitted his wings a few times and landed with a small thud on the floor. He didn't tumble onto his stomach this time, so he was learning a little bit and getting better at gliding with his little wings. He grinned widely, rubbing his braids for luck, before he trotted over to the sad little Legend across the room. He was secluded, for the most part, so he would be easy to approach and examine. And he was darn interesting to! Seven didn't have any scarves like that, he just had a dirtied up white coat and pair of black pants.

Seven skidded to a hault a few feet from Guin and squeezed his hand open and closed in a feebled attempt at a wave, "Cheewiooo~" He called, before skipping across the few feet that seperated them, closing the gap completely so he could give the Legend a quick look over.

The people moving past caught his attention, and he watched the young familiar boy and the little girl leave with their respective guardians. The room was clearing fast, it seemed, peering about from his spot on the floor. The winged baby was on his guardian's head, the unknown man seemed to still be by the couch, the man that brought in Karan was on the couch, and Xiao was still waiting by the door.

...Wait, where was Karan?

See? He'd already found someone else. Someone who wasn't hot or stubborn or tall. And this someone was a new someone. Someone who looked interesting, and looked a little like Demare and the moon girl in back. "Haiii?" he queried by way of greeting.

Seven grinned at the returned greeting and pointed to the differing scarves the boy had, "What tho--" he started then gasped and looked a lot closer at the boy's face, "Ooooohhhhhh pweetty" His eyes were different! Not just one color, but two!.. Just like the scarves on his shoulders.. INTERESTING!

He stared at the other's eyes, pondering the connection between the differing colors of them and his clothes and what could possibly be the reason for it. Seven's eyes were both blue, Shadow's eyes were both yellow, Plat's were both... tiny and closed a lot when he was close by, but this boy's eye's were both different! How very interesting indeed.

This one DID look interesting. Besides the fluff on his back, he had orangey hair, white clothes a little like the shiny lady's, and things on his head that were shiny and round. Eyes? But they looked so big, they couldn't be eyes. What could they be?

"Wha at?" A questioning hand extended towards the goggles atop the winged Legend's head. They looked hard enough to touch...

With a brush of his hand the goggles fell down off his head and over his eyes. Seven wrinkled his nose a little in suprize but giggled to see the slightly warped version of the boy sitting infront of him. Seven stretched his wings a little and pulled the goggles off his head and offered them to the other boy. Maybe with a little distraction he could examine him a little closer! Yes, more learning!

He could see them? Karan took the goggles, giving the other boy his sun scarf to look at in exchange. It was the same color as his hair, he noted, but at least this one wasn't bright or hot. That settled, he poked one lens of the goggles suspiciously. It didn't poke back, and made a slight "bop" noise. At least it wasn't alive, or a real eye. Next, he slid the goggles onto his head, where he'd seen them perched on their owner. A bit big on him, they fell over his eyes. But he could still see! Amazing! Energized by his discovery, he giggled.

Seven rubbed his fingers over the fabric with a smile, impressed by the intricacies of the pattern on it. It was so pretty! Seven offered a giggle and reached his hand foreward, poking the goggles as they were over the other boy's eyes, "Protectib." He nodded. Yes they were very protectib, they had kept dirt out of his eyes on many occasions back at the house! Saved his baby blues from mini exploasions too. The goggles were a bit beat up on the edges, but still worked and did their job just fine! Strong things they were. Seven's attentions were brought back to the scarf however.

With a wrinkle of his nose, he made a slight sniffling noise before letting a small ball of spit land on the fabric, which he promptly rubbed in to see the effects of liquid on the fabric. Like when he got spit on his pillow case, the fabric appeared darker, he wanted to see if it would do the same to the pretties on this boys scarf. OoooOOOOhhh~

Demare quietly watched the babies, almost amused by how easily pleased they were. Then again, he held a faint memory of being amazed by goggles before... His wings twitched a little bit, and he lifted a brow as the winged child spit on Karan's scarf, curious of the reaction the other bi-colored baby would have.

Eyes widening behind the goggles, Karan tugged his end of the scarf. "Caful!" His pretty scarf had gotten all messed up! Maybe it wasn't his fault though... and it wasn't like it was the good one. But even so...

Lionel had fallen asleep, but the sound of the Legend's outburst brought him to his senses. "Oh my, the time has flown by so quicky," he clucked to himself, retrieving Karan from his spot on the floor.

Aw, why did he have to ruin his fun now? Karan waved to Seven sadly before setting his gaze ahead, where it rested on a new figure. Someone tall, and cool looking, but also strangely familiar.

"DMAH!?"

Just as Seven was about to discover how the fabric reacted to liquids it was tugged out of his hands and a much larger person was nearby. O noes! His research... ish.. stuff! He was so close to seeing. Seven pouted slightly but hopped after Lionel and Karan, "Goggwes!" he said, reaching for them. They were still on the other boy's head! Was he going to keep them? Oh noes!

As the man finally moved from the couch and picked up Karan, his eyes narrowed into little slits as the stranger began to take the child away. Hmph... Just as he was spotted, too.

Too bored to protest, Demare lifted a hand and waved, as if to confirm that is was indeed who he thought it was. Odd, wasn't it? Something was almost always different every time he saw that boy... And today the kid seemed so spacy.

"See ya, kid," he called out, as if a hidden promise that he'd see the child again soon.

... BIG. Demare was BIG. But how?

Luckily for Lionel, the boy didn't so much as budge as he made his way out, bidding the room a soft farewell as he left.

Seven ran after the two, with as much speed as his little legs could carry him, but he was too slow! He ran smack into the door of the HQ and fell back onto his rear. No goggles slid down over his face to pretect his eyes, no, they were gone. And that boy had them! What if.. what if they were gone forever?? Seven's wings tensed and curled close against his back and he stared at his hands, squeezing them open and closed as he tried to think. What could he doo? He made a squeak in the back of his throat and started jumping up and down agains the door, trying to reach the handle, "Ahh! Ahhh goggoos!" He cried, only to have the door remain as closed tightly as it was.

Demare's eyes followed the little winged boy across the room for a moment, watching the poor boy jump the way he did. He'd lost something precious, didn't he?

His loss, he thought to himself, unfolding his legs and standing up slowly. He stopped as his dagger fell from his lap and the blade clinked against the floor, his wings spreading at the sound as he looked to the weapon.

What would he do if he'd lost HIS most precious item? Carefully picking up his dagger, he thought for a moment as he placed it back underneath his bandages, watching the baby once more. He'd do the same thing... Try to get it back. Sighing lightly, he shifted his weight a little bit to lean on his left leg as he crossed his arms over his chest.

"Hey," Demare called out to the other boy. "He'll give 'em back, don't worry."

Seven's big baby blues turned their attention to Demare as he spoke to him. Seven stopped his jumping and pointed at the door, feeling helpless that he couldn't even reach the handle, "My gahgoos!" He cried. He'd never been without them, he wasn't sure how he'd do his experiments, or anything, and he was scared.

He'd had them since birth, they were like... PART of him. They weren't something precious, like a coin he found, they were something that never left him. He trusted the little guy and he took it! What would happen if Shadow stole him away again and never came back? What would he do without them?

With all the questions buzzing in his head, he, rather uncharacteristically, burst into tears. They were gone! For sure they were gone! And he couldn't do anything about it. He was helpless, and tiny, and couldn't even speak what he wanted to say. With that, he fell to his bum and continued to cry.

Okay, THAT'S IT! Demian screamed in his mind. I tried to help, and he CRIES.

D-Demian, maybe it isn't your fault, Clare tried to reason with him, but the demon wasn't listening.

I don't know why I should freaking care, but YOU take care of him!

Without warning, Demian released the body so it could be controled by Clare, but it hadn't quite worked as usual. The body almost immediately fell limp to the floor as the bi-colored eyes had closed, and Clare was at a loss for what to do.

What have you done?? I thought I was supposed to be in control when you left...

I... I didn't do anything! Go on, Clare, take it!

...I... I thought I HAD...

WHAT?! Kid, this isn't funny!

It had taken a few moments before Demare could move again, coughing a little bit as he began to push himself up off the floor. Oh Gods... it felt like the body was dead for those few minutes.

Now, make him stop crying.

O-okay...

Wincing a little bit, Demare slowly got into a stand, and calmly made his way to the baby by the door. Were these boots made of steel or something...? His feet were dragging for most of the way, until his strength started to kick in to allow him to walk normally. ...Perhaps... switching wouldn't be a good idea for a little while. Kneeling down next to the winged boy, he gently placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Now now, it's okay..." he cooed, his voice much softer than it was a moment ago. "I'm sure Karan will bring them back... I don't think he meant to take them with him."

Seven's face was damp, and his nose ran a little as he sniffled from the fit he had moments ago, but he had quickly been distracted by the display Demare had made just moments before.

He lofted a brow curiously and noticed that this boy also had dual colored eyes. Quite curious.

His mind reeled for a moment as to why the boy was acting so strangly and then he spoke, "Bu..but.. wha if I dun come back?" he squeaked sadly. "I go 'way long time." He nodded gently and fought back a few tears. He didn't want to cry while he was examining the other.

"Why you fall?" He chirped, his cheeks still wet with tears.

"If you were to leave, perhaps there will be an address to send the goggles to? I very much doubt that would be the case, however," he tried to assure him. "Who knows, maybe he'll find you and return them tomorrow!"

At the last question, Demare paniced inwardly as Clare tried to get an excuse to explain.

What do I tell him??

Nothing. You say NOTHING.

But... he saw! He has a right to know, doesn't he?

NO.

He hesitated for a moment before answering. "I... ah... I felt a little... faint. I'm sorry if I scared you, I'm still trying to get used to this bo--" It felt like his mind had just been kicked. "I mean, I must be coming down with something."

Seven rubbed his little hands over his face, feeling a bit itchy as the tears dried on his skin. He then pushed himself up to brush his hands over Demare's face, "Are you sick?" He asked, gently pinching the boys cheeks. Again curious about the different colored eyes. This was the second person in one night two have different eyes, and also the only ones he'd ever seen. "Why you eyes diffent? Whassit mean?" he asked, wings unfolding slightly.

Demare allowed him to touch his face, pinch his cheeks... whatever the child had wanted to do. He smiled with sincerity, but his bi-colored eyes showed sadness as he watched the baby, thinking about how to answer the questions.

He doesn't remember me, he thought to himself, his two wings curling a little bit around his shoulders. But then again, I hardly expect anyone to...

"I'm not sure if I'm sick," he replied honestly, lifting his left hand to scratch behind his neck a little bit. "And... my eyes are different because I was born that way. The real reason as to why that is, I'm not sure, but if you hadn't noticed..."

Demare's black wing extended as far as it could with its broken structure, the small holes along the bottom more apparent now. Lifting up his right hand, he tried to indicate the bloodied bandages to be compared to the clean ones on his left. The extra pair of eyes over his right eye he decided to leave out, since he wasn't sure if the child would be afraid or not.

"...I'm not exactly normal, or of one kind."

Seven twisted his head to the side and looked him over, from his wing to his bandages. He was very interesting indeed! Seven smiled a bit and reached to touch each of the bandages in turn. "You vewy diffent." He nodded, feeling like he'd somehow done this before.

"Coooooooooolll~" He cood, flapping his wings a little as he hovered over the ground infront of the other boy.

Demare chuckled a little bit, fighting back Demian's attempt to smack the child for touching the bandages. He wasn't trying to remove them, after all... So long as he didn't do that, everything would be okay.

"T-thank you, I think," he said, a faint blush washing over his cheeks. "You're pretty cool yourself. You're the only other legend I've seen with wings similar to my white one."

His eyes grew a little bigger as the child lifted himself off the ground, placing his hands together in a soft applause. "Wonderful! You know, I don't think I've ever gotten your name..."

"I Sewen!" He said proudly, landing back on the ground with a small thump. He couldn't stay in the air long, as his wings began to tire easily. He didn't show any signs of pain though, he tried not to.

He prodded at the other boy a little more, reaching to try and play with one of his wings, "Wha's you name?" He said, smile broadening as he examined the other boy.

Sewen...? Seren... SeVen. He continued to smile as he actually sat down infront of the little boy, his white wing fluffing itself out a little bit to indicate that it would be best to play with that one

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Seven," Demare said with a nod. "My name is Cl--.... I mean, Demare."

"Deeemaaawwee~~" He sang for a few moments ruffling his fingers over the feathered wing. "Like mine." He gave a nod before he felt a small tug on the chain that attached to his little belt and heard a cough a moment later. His nose wrinkled.

Shadow tugged gently once more, "I'm sorry to break this up, but it's way past Seven's bed time. You two will have to finish this little chat later."

Demare picked himself up off of the ground, bowing his head a little bit to the child's guardian. "F-forgive me, I didn't mean to keep him, I assure you," he apologized before stepping out of the way of the door. "I think I need to be getting home myself, actually..."

Leaning down, the halfling gently patted Seven on the head with his left hand, smiling down at the boy. "It was nice talking to you, Seven. I hope I'll get to see you again soon someday! Take care, okay?"

"Ye! I wan study you more!" He said with a small mock solute, bringing his hand to his head, before he plopped down and started playing with his braids.

Shadow waved lightly before plucking Seven off the floor, "If you want you can come visit him sometime, he needs some company around when I'm working." She offered a nod, but before waiting for a response, she brushed passed him and left the HQ.

Seven squirmed and peered past Shadow's shoulder, "Gogoos!" He cried back to him. He had almost forgot...

Demare's smile turned into a nervous one at the thought of being examined further. Deciding not to question it, he opened his mouth to respond to the offer, but quickly closed it again as the two left. He could hear a faint "gogoos" from outside as he stared at the door for a moment, hoping Seven would be able to get them back soon.

Looking to the fox tahnee leaning against the wall, he was quiet for a moment before bowing his head a little bit. "I'm sorry to keep you waiting... shall we go?"

Xiao's eyes turned toward the legend before he pushed himself off of the wall, and stepped to the door, pulling it open for the child to go through. Once Demare was outside, he left in turn, closing the door behind him and walking onward toward home.

Escaped Information
Another nighttime walk brought Chandra into the Legend HQ. Pushing her way in the front door, she eyed the common room suspiciously before removing her coat.

"Hello," she said tentatively, attempting to flush out anyone who might be lurking in the vicinity.

When no one immediately answered, she made her way into the kitchen to look in the fridge.

Stupid house. Stupid guardians. Stupid... "family." Demare shoved open the door to the HQ with his shoulder, the door not having closed completely by the last person that came in. The halfling was annoyed by his surroundings at home, and hoped to seek sanctuary here. He'd more than likely still be ignored, but at least it wasn't by the people that were supposed to be taking care of him.

"It's all that brat's fault..." he thought to himself. "Ever since that kid arrived, I've been getting into trouble without doing anything."

The child lifted his hands to shift his black scarf a little bit, throwing the long end over his shoulder so it would be out of his way. Maybe he could run away for a while... Yeah. Not like they'd miss him, right? His bi-colored eyes began to search the lobby for life, but saw nothing besides a coat on the coat-rack. Was someone here...? Or did the owner leave that behind?

Chandra walked back out of the kitchen with a glass of apple juice clutched in one pale hand. Normally she despised fruit juice, but she was willing to make an exception right this instant.

As she got out into the living room, Chandra stopped short. There was someone here. Someone who looked familiar. One of the split children?

"You grew." She said, blinking. "But you are still split. Can't you decide?"

She took a sip of her cup of juice, not taking her wide eyes off Demare for a second.

Demare's eyes narrowed as he turned to see who asked such a stupid question, but upon seeing the familiar girl, his expression changed. It was that girl that knew about him... Idily, his left hand lifted to fiddle with the pendant that hung from his neck, his wings twitching a little bit.

"Can't decide what?" he demanded harshly, though his eyes showed a bit of confusion. "You think I chose to be this way? To be born like this?"

The dagger tucked into the bandages on his right side seemed to flinch a little bit. There was something about the child's presence...

"...What's your name, anyway?" Demare asked, his voice softening a little. "I couldn't exactly ask you when I first saw you."

Chandra drained the glass and set it on the nearest piece of furniture, some sort of victorian looking plant stand. She wondered briefly if this was one of those situations that merited a "coaster", but then forgot about it. The boy in front of her was much more interesting.

Taking a step further into the room, Chandra put one hand protectively over The Book chained to her side.

"Cannot decide whether you are light or dark." She blinked, wondering what she had done to make him angry. Men were so... unpredictable. "No, I do not think you chose to be like this. I did not choose to be as I am."

She took another step, skirting around to the front of the couch.

"I am called Chandra. And you are?"

Demare's eyes followed Chandra around the room, his right narrowing a little bit as she meantioned the light and dark factor. Hmph... That certainly was something to choose from, but it was kind of hard to do when you were half angel. However, the comment made him realize something: she didn't know about his souls. She only knew about how he looked.

"Chandra..." the whisper escaped his lips as his white eye grew large. That was the girl that gave her the pendant? ...And what was that book...? His left wing fidgeted a little bit as Clare felt the presense of his friend enter the room, but Demian refused to turn his attention away from the girl.

"My name is Demare. I... I've been wanting to meet with you for a while now, Chandra. You gave me something I'm rather curious about."

Chandra looked suspicious at Demare's reaction to her name. What did he know about her?

"The gemstone." She said matter-of-factly. It was the only thing she had ever given out to others. "What about it do you wish to ask?"

Chandra glanced at Karan and his caretaker out of the corner of her eye. The other split child appeared to be here as well.

He was quiet for a moment, as if trying to figure out how to word his question, his thumb and index finger gently brushing over the smooth surface of the gift. Something felt a little wrong...

"I wanted to know what it was... My guardian had meantioned something about it coming from death," he explained, even though he knew she already knew that. As he opened his mouth to speak again, a faint whisper of another voice came out instead. "Where is he?"

Quickly closing his mouth, the child immediately looked annoyed. "You FOOL!" he cried to his mind. "Shut up when I'm in control!"

"What are you talking about? I was talking to you!" Clare protested, not knowing what his other half was talking about. "Where is he? Where's Karan?"

"I thought you said you couldn't see," Demian questioned, only the black eye shifting as if to glance over his shoulder.

"I can't. However, I can feel hi--"

"I don't care. I'm BUSY."

"But...!"

"LATER!"

Demare tried again. "What did that mean?"

An easy question. Chandra was slightly annoyed and slightly relieved. She shifted her weight and sat gingerly on the arm of the couch.

"I am a necromancer." She said simply. "I walk in the Land of the Dead. The path all souls have to walk before passing on. Occasionally I find things there. Like the stones in the charm I gave you."

Feeling a little more might be needed, she added belatedly, "They're probably harmless."

"A necromancer...?" Demare asked, his eyes returning to focus on her. "What exactly is that, if you don't mind me asking?"

As she spoke of the land of the dead, both of his eyes widened as a chill crawled up his spine. Why did... that sound frightening? Demian was hardly scared of anything, so why did that sound so damn intimidating?

Looking to the pendant for a moment, his right hand moved to loosen up the scarf around his neck, allowing the material to slip free so it would rest on his shoulders. So... they were actually from death. It started to make him feel like it was just some sort of suivenier.

"Probably?" Curiosity got the better of him. "You mean you don't know?"

"A necromancer manipulates the spirits of the dead." Chandra said, keeping an eye on him. Judging by the scenes from her past, necromancers were probably not well-liked.

She cracked a rare smile at his last comment, but let it slip off her face before replying.

"I do not know. They did not feel threatening, however." She gave him a sly look. "Are you worried you will not be able to handle it should the gemstones be more than they appear?"

Manipulators of the dead...? So this kid is pretty powerful... he thought to himself. She may seem harmless, but so did...

He decided not to finish his thought. At Chandra's comment, he couldn't help but give her a toothy smirk, his two red eyes opening slightly in response to his mischievious thoughts.

"Oh, I'm not worried about not being able to handle it," Demare replied coyly, a slightly crazed look appearing in his black eye. "I'm just wondering what this thing could do. When I was still alive, demons weren't exactly trusted with objects relating to the d--.... oh s**t."

It slipped. It completely SLIPPED. Demare's expression returned to his usual glare, his eyes narrowing into little slits as he cursed himself mentally.

"You... didn't hear that."

Chandra tensed at the outburst, unsure what the boy had said to merit such a revision. She wasn't in any sort of mood to ignore it now that he had pointed it out however.

"You cannot tell me what I do and do not hear." She said dangerously, narrowing her eyes. "You are a demon? What are you doing here?"

s**t. Shitshitshitshitshitshitshit. Demare put himself in the spotlight by accident, and he didn't like it. His wings twitched and shifted behind him, pondering how to get himself out of this one. It almost seemed like that was no where to go...

If he disappeared, he was only avoiding the question, and could possibly be warrenting rumors. If he answered, however... He tightened a fist with anger, his knuckles cracking a little bit with the sudden use.

"Just tell her," Clare told him, hoping to calm the demon's anger. "If she's been to death, then maybe she'd understand."

"Did you not hear her tone?" Demian hissed, the child pursing his lips.

"I'm sure she was just mad that you were telling her what to do."

"Easy for you to say. You weren't hated by everyone you knew."

"Demian..."

"What have I done...?"

Taking in a deep breath, Demare exhaled slowly, his left hand falling to his side as his right loosened up. "I'm... not exactly a demon anymore," he muttered quietly. "I'm only half."

Chandra relaxed. He wasn't going to attack after all. In fact he seemed less angry. She blinked, still keeping him in her field of vision.

"I see. And your other half is..." Chandra thought fast, taking in his appearance and came to an odd conclusion. "... angelic?"

She tilted her head to one side in interest.

"How did that happen?"

Demare was quiet for a moment as he thought, wondering how to explain. Every moment of the past was clear in his mind, but even now he wouldn't be able to explain exactly why he and Clare were reborn together.

"To be honest, I couldn't tell you," he sighed, looking down at the ground before turning his eyes toward Chandra. "Before I died, I... oddly enough, I befriended an angel. He's... here now... But we're kind of stuck together."

His feathered wing ruffled a little bit. "I thought it was a joke at first, but now my theory is that it was to pay for my sins. I don't understand WHY, but it just happened."

Chandra nodded, raising one pale hand to cover her mouth as she yawned widely.

"I only recently found out why I had been reborn. It is not always clear."

She stood back up, smoothing her tunic.

"Let me know if the gemstones do anything unexpected. For now I need to go home. Perhaps someday I could meet... your other half?"

She left the request hanging in the air as she made her way over to swing on her coat and step out the door.

Demare didn't turn to watch her leave, much less did he answer her. She found out why she was reborn...? That seemed to intrigue him, his eyes falling to the floor. As he heard the door open, he muttered quietly to no one in particular, "Yeah... maybe."

Looking around for a moment, Demare noticed that the HQ was empty now. It was quiet... for him, it was peaceful. Perhaps he'd hide here for the night to give his guardian a scare...

Stepping over to the couch, he flopped down upon the cushions without a thought, laying down and resting his hands behind his head. This wouldn't be so bad... It was at least warm in here, and he wouldn't be disturbed for the most part. He could be by himself, and no one would really care.

...He could be alone...

Turning onto his side, he curled one arm close to his chest as he layed on the other, his bi-colored eyes closing slowly as he fell into slumber.
