December 22nd, 2004

A great cry, like a scream echoed through the basement, filling it with a harsh, shrill sound. Simara awoke quickly from her slumber, alarmed. Without warning, the purple snake flew straight for the source of the sound, and hovered above it.
It was a small, blue snake with small, red wings. He was half inside an overturned box on the top shelf. She scowled. They had ANOTHER one?!
"Who are you, what are you doing here, and WHY are you making such a commotion?" She hissed.
The blue snake looked up at her defiantly, though she could tell he had been crying just seconds before.
"SOMEONE has stolen MY MOST PRIZED POSSESSION!!"
He shouted again. Simara winced as she heard feet pounding towards them.
The door opened, and a light was turned on.
"Simara! What is going on here?!"
A scared little yellow fairy clung to her shoulder, staring at the blue snake with wonder. It was obvious that the two had been outside just moments before.
The purple snake smiled nastily and flew off before Magiale could say anything else. She frowned, and turned back to the blue one.
"You...that!" He spat, staring hungrily at the package in Magiale's arms.
"Huh?" She looked down at it. "What about this? We're giving it away for a Se-"
She wasn't allowed to finish.
The snake shot straight for it, causing Magiale to scream and Raphael to fly for the rafters.
Luckily, he had missed.
"Give it back!" He hissed, as he lunged for it again.
This time, however, Magiale was prepared. With her free arm, she pounded that snake right in the head before it could reach the package.
He squirmed, where he had landed on the floor, his wings a bit too shaky to fly, looking ready to lunge again. Were these snakes poisonous?
No matter. Before he could do anything, Magiale had his head pressed to the ground with her boot.
He became pleading.
"Oh...Please! Don't hurt me. All I want is the lollipop back, thats all..." He looked up at Magiale, endearment blazing in his eyes.
She didn't soften.
"No! This lollipop is mine. For threatening me, I most certainly will not give it to you."
"But please! I'll do anything! Just...give it back! I won't bother you again..."
The human lifted her foot from the snake and began to walk away. As far as she was concerned, this snake was harmless.
Too bad he wasn't. Without a sound, he slithered after the human, murderous intent in his eyes.
"Wait!" A tiny voice yelled, for the first time. Both snake and human turned around, surprised, and looked at the fairy questioningly.
All eyes were on him.
Raphael gulped, but spoke anyway.
"C-can't he come with the package? No, I mean, he can go with the lollipop and...err.."
It was hard to understand what his tiny voice had said, but what he had meant was quite clear. The blue snake looked a bit doubtful, but it was obvious that he liked the idea a lot.
Magiale sighed.
"Fine." She extended her hand down towards the snake, who looked at it doubtfully.
"Come on! If you don't hurt me, I won't hurt you." This whole thing was exasperating, to say the least.
Raphael smiled, relieved, and floated to Magiale's shoulder. Without another word, they all climbed up the stairs.

Aria knocked quite loudly on the door. She held in her hands a small note and string, which lead to a small grey dragon. He was looking around, curious, eyeing the paper in her hand. Satisfied someone was coming, she rolled the paper and put in the the string, tying it with her end. One more knock, and she was gone.

Quote:
To Raphael,

The small dragon can be a pet for you! He will not get any bigger. And it's a he. Naming it up to you.
Merry Christmas!

Dear Diary,
Well, another Christmas has passed by, and I'm really beginning to feel the effects of being old and of being the main caretaker in the house. *sigh* I spent the morning cleaning the house (it'd gotten quite messy) and then took Raphy his breakfast. Apparently that Aramis decided to take Simara's place as "gaurdian" of sorts, though somehow I doubt that he's actually watching the feien. When I came out, Raphy was building something in the snow and Aramis was shivering off in a corner somewhere.
But Raphy's lived alone for a good two weeks already. Aramis isn't needed, but it certainly was thoughtful of him to do that. Besides, I doubt he'll attempt anything, as cold as it is.

I gave Raphy a few new things to start off the New Year, including the chocolate cake with his once-a-day meal. I'm also leaving a tub of ice cream out here - it's not the low fat kind like I usually use; I figure Feien don't have high cholesterol or heart problems, and it just plain tastes better.
What surprised me most was when he gave me a present. O.o I hadn't been expecting it, and it certainly was nice of him.
I didn't know he could paint, but he made a portrait of me! It's a bit small, in fact it's almost impossible to see, but it's the thought that counts. ^^;;
Oh yeah, we delivered Raphy's gift to his secret santa. I hope it got to the right house, and that the tiny blue snake (did he have a name?) didn't cause too much trouble. We also recieved a gift from our secret santa, from a feien named Aria, I think? Yeah. He named the little dragon Coust. I'm keeping the darling little thing inside for now - he doesn't seem to like the cold as much as Raphy does.
Anyway, I think that's all I have to report right now. I need to go sleepie now.

Raphael
Sorry for not writing in you for a long time! It was so cold out here that it was hard to use the paints anymore, so I couldn't write anthing for awhile. But then Aramis came and said he'd keep me company, and he found a really odd way of making the paints liquid again by putting them next to this horizontal metal line thing that I don't like because hot air comes out of it. He also told me about something called Christmas, and told me to give a present to Magiale, but not him because he despises presents. Thats what he said. Anyway, I'm not very good at drawing or anything else, really, but I thought it'd be nice for me to use the Aramis-heated paints to draw something nice for Magiale, since I think she likes looking at herself I drew a portrait. He did say that you should do nice things for people who do nice things for you, and that also includes giving things to them that they enjoy. I didn't have many colors to choose from, though. I'm thinking of going to the shop to buy more paints, though I don't want to use her gold.
Right now there's ice cream in the shed. Magiale gave it to me, but I don't think she realized how horribly bad for me ice cream is. To think, I could have died by eating it - it's not her fault, of course. But if it hadn't been for Aramis explaining what ice cream can do to feien, I don't know if I'd still be alive today. He said I barely managed to live after eating the ice cream before, because, he said, I only ate a small amount of it then.
Right now, he's eating it. He truly is kind and gracious for putting up with eating my gift to make sure I'm not tempted to take it myself. He said that it'd be very tempting to eat it, and it honestly is. Aramis is truly a lifesaver.

Aramis was shivering.
Damn. It was COLD.
He'd been shivering like an ice cube for the past week, outside in the stupid snow just so he could one-up Simara.
The sad thing was, Simara had actually one-upped him.
But he wasn't about to turn back now. Oh no. Then Simara would have REALLY one-upped him.

As was expected, Raphael was positively clueless. He was so clueless he unwittingly gave up his chocolate ice cream. But what good was chocolate ice cream to Aramis, anyway? It might have been a nice prize had the weather been warm, but right now it was little more than a block of chocolate ice that Aramis, despite his sharp teeth, could barely break through.
Aramis gave a snakely sigh, which translated into a shiver. He was MISERABLE. The blankets he had snuggled into had turned into icy sheets that held no warmth at all.
Had he been a normal snake, he'd probably be dead by now. Or, at least, in hibernation, a prospect that seemed very desirable to minty green. Quietly, he closed his eyes and wrapped his underwings about him.

...

"Aramis?" A tiny voice tugged at his conciousness. Slowly, the green snake opened his eyes.
A small, yellow bug-like creature peered at his right eye, it's quiet voice attempting to catch the snake's attention.
"What is it?" mumbled Aramis groggily. He wanted to go back to sleep...
"I thought you looked...uncomfortable," replied Raphael.
The green snake stared at the faerie increduously.
"You woke me up to tell me that?" He prepared to go asleep again. Talk about trivial!
"Err...no..." Said the Feien with a blush. He shifted his feet slightly in the snow and pointed towards a small hole in the snow.
The snake stared at it. "Did you make that, bug?"
Raph nodded, his blush deepening.
"I read something about the transferrance of heat in a book," he explained. "Nature is a kind of equilizer, in that it transfers heat until everything is the same temperature...or something like that.." Yellow frowned, not quite sure if his explanation was correct, and his blush deepened even further as he realized that he was being stared at.
"Well...umm, I-I f-figured you could...well, wind takes away warmth...well, actually, the snow, or well, the fact that it breaks the wind...umm..."
Aramis cut him off. "Why'd you do this for me, bug?" His tone was suspicious.
Raphael sighed in relief. This was something he could explain!
"Y-you helped me before with the paint, and then you saved me from eating the icecream... so I thought I'd help you in turn...?" Raph shuffled his feet. By now he was beet red under Aramis' burning eyes. He felt uncomfortably being stared at.
"Hey, bug, what's your name again?" The snake shifted partway out of his blankets.
"Uhm, Raphael."
The snake smiled inwardly.
"Raphael, you say? That's an epic name, it really is."
Without another word, the green snake folded his wings and slithered into the hole. It was a tight fit, but it would have to do.
And as for that bug...Raphael? Too nice, too trusting...in other words, perfect.
Though, honestly, what on earth could he do with a 3-inch tall fairy, anyway?
Meanwhile, Raphy returned to another project he was working on in the snow. He'd found a new hobby - building things. The snow was light, and thus not too hard for the weak faerie to carry. He'd been working on the home for Aramis for almost a week, which had been quite the challenge. His small size had been an advantage for the tunneling, however.
To a human, the fort he was building so far appeared to be a small, shaky circle in the snow. But to Raphy it was the thick base and beginning to a tiny snow home.
He felt he'd accomplished quite a bit.
PostPosted: Tue Jan 11, 2005 5:00 pm

Raphy flitted back and forth, carrying snow from one spot and putting it on another.
Right now, he was building. And he found, oddly enough, that he liked building.
It was monotonous work, for the most part. But perhaps thats what made it so enjoyable. He knew what he was doing, mainly because he knew that there was little that could go wrong when building with snow. And if there was, it could easily be corrected, because snow, unlike brick or cement or other building materials, was quite...changeable, for lack of a better term.
Goodness knows, he's not a patient feien.
But he's curious. And that's enough. For this job, anyway.
The small fort hadn't really taken shape yet, but it had a pretty sturdy base. It was clear that the walls had been strengthened quite a bit.
If one were to look down on the building from above, they'd realize that the base of the walls had actually been built on top of the snow. This was obvious because the floor of the fort went below the snowline.
How a small feien could dig so deep was a mystery, unless one took into account the light fluffy nature of the snow.

That being said, I suppose now would be a good time to point out the state of Aramis' 'home'. The fact that Raphy, a 3.25 inch tall fairy could create a useable burrow for a true-sized snake with wings three times as long as two Raphy's was not only miraculous, but also impossible.
As such, despite having been able to fit into the hole the night before, by morning, it was a mess. His wings pushed out of the roof of the lair at odd angles, parts of his tail stuck out, and small patches of green appeared in places where the thinner snow on the top of the tunnel had fallen in.
Needless to say, when the snake woke up, he was not in a very good mood.
Oddly enough, he wasn't mad at Raphy. Well, actually, he was, but he didn't act like it. In fact, he didn't even mention Raphy's engineering errors to the feien.
He had other plans, you see.
Besides, it was his fault for thinking a bug could build something useable for HIM. Much less in a week. Haha.
Yeah. But now he was cold again.

Raphael woke up.
There's not much to describing how Raphael wakes up. He's pretty fast with everything he does, and waking up is no exception.
One minute, he was fast asleep, and the next moment he was wide awake and flitting about.
The yellow faerie flit out of his crate and found himself surprised. He wasn't surprised at the fact that it was still dark out, or that Aramis was fast asleep - that was how it usually was when he woke up in the morning. No, what surprised him was something much, much worse.
The fort. The snow house that he had spent days and days on. Smashed to pieces. A giant footprint sat where the walls had once stood proudly, leaving no mercy in it's complete destruction of Raphy's efforts.
He frowned, paused, but eventually forced himself forward to inspect the damage.

A small line of crumbly wall sat on either side of the footprint. The foot had stepped in the exact middle...?
He inspected the footprint more closely, all despair gone from his eyes. Wow! The patterns that it had left were amazing! Little bumps and knobs in the ground, strange arrow like patterns...
His hands scraped away one of them. They were hard! The foot had scrunched the snow into a tightly packed floor.
Floor.
His brow furrowed.

Inside, he had a sudden urge to rebuild the walls of the house. To create it around the footprint.
But another part of him felt oddly impatient...bored, perhaps?
He shrugged and flit back into his crate.
It was about time he wrote in his diary. He'd been neglecting it.

((Shop RP *too lazy to include colors n.n*))

Raphael entered the store quickly, but not quietly as he flapped through the open window.
He hadn't visited in awhile, so therefore was not so surprised when he spotted three juveniles and an adult he had never seen before.
Quieting down so as not to draw too much attention to himself, the yellow feien steered himself upwards and sideways and landed on the rafters, where a great amount of dust had gathered.

"... what was that?" Kojak twisted around, turning and looking to see where the noise came from. He could've sworn he heard something, except that there was nothing there in the direction he looked.

The shop had pretty much gone silent and he gave a smile to both Hitomi and Reneeka before continuing to look around. He could've sworn he heard something.

Reneeka twitched, tilting her head as she listened around them. Too silent... except for something above them. Little particles of falling dust raining down upon her alerted the brightly colored feien to something around them. "Hello? Is anyone there?"

Zero would seriously be mad, but at this point, Ryuusei didn't really care : She needed a breath of fresh air, and it was the only other place she knew. So she escaped by a window and flew all the way from the appartment to the shop, zipping into it and welcoming the warmth. God, it was COLD. She tightned the blue scarf she wore, even if she was inside.

She inched in, not really expecting that there would be alot of people, after all there hadn't the other times she had came. Well, so much for peace and sillence...

She glanced up at the rafters, spotting a golden feien. Blinking, she fluttered up.

"Is this a private rafter, or is there room for one more ?" She asked, a small smile inching on her face in dispice it all.

Raphael panted slightly, partly from exhaustion at having flown so far, and partly from relief at not having been seen.
Err, except he had been seen.
He looked up at the yellow feien, first surprised, and then embarassed as he quickly stood up, the beginnings of a blush appearing on his face.
His face looked confused at her question, but he attempted an answer.
"W-well..I think the rafter b-belongs to the shop..." He paused, "Sure."
He extended his hand, as he remembered it being the polite thing to do.
"My n-name is Raphy- err, Raphael."

Ryuusei blinked, not really understanding why he was so nervous. Did she look like a demon from hell or something ? o_O

"Ryuusei." She answered, shaking his hand. "Pleased to meet you."

She fluttered and sat on the rafter, glancing downward. The view from here was pretty cool.

He gave a meek smile and sat down as well, causing more dust to fly about as his wings stirred it up. He looked at it curiously as it spun about.
And felt an odd tingling sensation in his nose.
Strange! He frowned slightly. It was horribly uncomfortable. He tried to ignore it, but it wouldn't go away...he clutched at his nose, wondering if he could smother it out, when, suddenly -
"ACHOO~!" He sneezed. Feien-sized dust particles and mucuous shot from his nose, and (luckily enough) into his hand.
His blush deepened.

Ryuusei couldn't help but giggle.

"They need to clean up there more often, visibely." She said, blowing a dust bunny away with her hand. "No need to be that shy, you know." She gave a reassuring smile. "Was just a sneeze."

Raphael gave a meek nod.
"Sorry," he smiled apologetically. Quietly, he attempted to wipe the uncomfortably sticky stuff from his fingers on his legs, but only succeeded in getting them sticky as well.
"I-I'm just..nervous around others, I guess."

"I rarely am... I dunno why." She shrugged. "Everyone is different... Some adults are intimidating, but eh."

"Who have you met?" he asked, sudden curiousity conquering his shyness.

"Not a whole lot... I don't get out alot, since its so cold. Its my first time comming to the shop on my own..."

"Really?" His blush returned. From her sociable nature, he had been certain that she was a regular, or at least older than he was.
"I-I don't come to the shop often either..." he paused slightly, thinking about the comment about the cold and remembering a conversation he had had with Ianios.
"What's your element?" he asked

"I think its air, but im not sure." She sighed. "...Almost a month, and I still don't know why im here, really... There must be a reason."

Oddly enough, the yellow feien relaxed his shoulders a bit. He hadn't realized it, but they had been scrunched up the entire time, zapping him of energy.
"I wasn't really sure what my element was for awhile either.." he admitted, "but I eventually found out that it was cold." Or ice. In actuality, he still wasn't entirely confident.

Ryuusei couldn't help another smile.

"Either way, you must like the current temperature alot, uh ? A tad too cold for me, but its kinda nice when its a little windy."

He nodded.
"I like the cold. But I don't like heat. I live outside the house." His thoughts came out as oddly fractured sentences as he attempted to remember something.
Raphael shifted somewhat in his seat, feeling uncomfortable again for some reason. How long had they been sitting there?

If Ryuu noticed, she didn't show it much. She visibely was getting used to the other feien's shyness.

"Im mostly inside. I don't think ill'd last long outside right now." She chuckeled. "Maybe we should go back down ?"

"Okay." Raph agreed. The yellow feien slowly stood and stretched.
...And frowned, as he noticed a shining something buried in the dust nearby.
He looked at it, and, without a second thought, walked over to it and attempted to lift it from the dust.
It was a little heavy, and pointy, and metallic...
He lifted the needle into both of his hands and turned to show it to Ryu, looking confused.
"W-what's this?" He asked her, almost as if he expected her to have all the answers.
Curious, he shifted it over to his right hand, where it looked almost like a sword.

Ryuusei blinked, then got up, peeking over his shoulder.

"I don't know... Be careful, it looks pointy." She said, without really thinking.

Raphael nodded again.
"Yeah," he replied. Without another word, he put it back where he had found it. Shiny item, but certainly of no use to him.
He walked over to the ledge, and almost jumped when he saw how dark it had become outside.
"I-I have to go..." He squeaked, wringing his fingers somewhat. "Nice meeting you. Bye!"
Speedily, the panicking feien disappeared, barely allowing Ryu time to answer.

Raphael
I forgot that Magiale doesn't like me to stay out too long. She gets worried, and I feel horrible for not coming back promtly. So to make up for it, I'm...um... doing something. Yes. I'll do something that lets her know that I'm a good Feien. I donno what, but I'll complete it.
I'm still living outside, but not in the fort like I was planning. I think the shed is probably a better place anyway. Apparently Aramis' structure got stepped on too, so he's back in the shed, so it's not so lonely. He's really nice. Magiale is a good and right person, but I think she could be nicer to him. Not to say that she should change herself in any way or anything, but Aramis is a good....person. I think? I think that's what you call others. That or you call them Feien. But I know Aramis isn't a Feien. At least, I don't think he is. But he could be. But he's probably not.
I've seen ones that don't really look like me, so certainly it isn't that strange that he definitely doesn't look like me, right? Well.
Anyway, I'm going to sleep. I have black paint all over my hands. It looks nice on the snow.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 28, 2005 8:26 pm

Raphael was outside in the snow, where he usually was nowadays. He found a strange kind of joy in just sitting around...creating snow angels and building tiny structures and such in the powder as he lazed.
But sometimes, when the mood struck him, he'd go exploring. After all, he was a curious feien, and in truth knew very little about the backyard in which he lived.
And that was exactly what he was doing, outside in the snow as he was. Exploring. Looking through the bare trees, climbing over fences, venturing into bushes - taking frequent breaks, of course - and then exploring some more.
It was a peaceful day. Feeling oddly adventurous, the small yellow Feien ventured into the front yard.
His eyes noted the black driveway, with strange markings made from slush and ice. It lead into a similarly marked street...that lead a long way.

Raphe fluttered down to it, and landed in the center of the street. Wow, their house looked so different from where he was! It seemed smaller, somehow, and more colorful. And the ground he was walking on felt different from the snow. Harder, and not as cold, and -
His thoughts were interrupted by a loud, swooshy sound. Alarmed, the small feien fluttered into the air. He wasn't sure what it was, but it was getting louder. Was it coming towards him? He peered into the distance - no...it wasn't - it was behind him!
Without a second thought, Raphael thrust himself off to the side, barely avoiding becoming a stain on the windowshield of an oncoming car.
He didn't stop until he had reached the front door.
...
Wait a second.

Raphe frowned, touching the front door to make sure it was real. How had he gotten there so quickly? He looked out at the road, which seemed to him to be a very far ways away from where he was. Wha - ?
Whatever. He was tired.
With a yawn, the small yellow feien floated, more slowly than usual, towards the shed.
In his exhaustion, he didn't notice the green snake watching him from a pine tree.

"Think fast, little bug."
A voice was behind Raphy. Think fast? What did that mea-
A cold something slammed smack into Raphy's wings, causing him to tumble into the snow. What the - ?
Another cold ball of snow. And another. All directed towards Raphy, who found himself shifting about haphazardly on the snowy ground in an attempt to avoid them all. He was bewildered. What was going on?
Snowballs. Flying at him. From random directions. And boy, were they big! Not dangerous enough to seriously injure the delicate fairie, but certainly hard enough to leave bruises.
Raphy flew into the air again, since he felt more comfortable there. One he could see flying towards him from the shed. Easily avoided. And then, WHAM! One he didn't see slammed into his left shoulder, causing him to lose his balance, the consequence being another slam into another snowball, this time with his face, and then with his knees, and his gut -
It was too much for the poor guy, who fell in a helpless heap in the snow, bruised and otherwise unable to move. Only then did the snowballs stopped. Relieved, but still confused, Raphy fell asleep. Yay.
The person who had been throwing the snowballs smiled to himself and carefully lifted the feien from the snow. Quietly, he put the small creature in the shed, on top of the crate.
He didn't want the poor thing to get stepped on, after all.
Without a word of greeting or goodbye to the human occupant of the house, the man left.

It was a barren wasteland, and nothing more. A barren wasteland; no trees, no water...only rocks and cracked earth and wisps of dry sand. The small feien walked through it, his feet leaving footprints on the ground. Solitary footprints.
He looked around, but there were no friends around him. He was alone.
Except...Was that Valsharess? Yes. Valsharess and Ianios and Celaien and Rislin and Ryuusei and many other Feien he had met and not met all dancing together. He longed to go up to them and dance with them, but he felt an odd sort of knot in his chest, holding him back. He suddenly couldn't move, or speak, or blink, or anything. He watched them dance for what seemed like ages, completely unnoticed by them. Then the figures disappeared.
A new figure appeared; this time it was Magiale.
She was alone in the sand as well, humming quietly to herself and stopping to examine rocks as she walked along. Once again, Raphael longed to run up to her, or call her name, but the same knot in his chest kept him back, and she too vanished.
Next came Simara, and then Aramis, chasing a scorpion that had suddenly appeared. Like Magiale, Simara took no heed of Raphael, but Aramis turned from the chase to stare at the fairy - only to turn away again. They also vanished, just as Simara had clutched the unlucky scorpion in her poisonous fangs.
A darker figure appeared this time, in the barren wastelands. Dust seemed to stir about it, and a cloak was on it's shoulders and surrounded it's feet. It's face was covered in a hood, and it walked towards Raphael, an ominous presence that seemed to send chills down his spine. A gloved hand reached towards him, and a large nose came into view. The nose seemed to speak to him.
"Raphael?"
He couldn't run, or talk, or fly away. The knot in his chest had encompassed his entire body with a cold, shivering chill and rendered him petrified. He could only stare up at the giant nose, thoroughly frightened.
And it spoke again.
"Raphael! Wake up!"
Huh?

Was that Magiale?
"Raphael! Hey, get up! Oh gosh, you overslept!"
And then a different voice, to his right...
"Oh come off it, Magi. How can he oversleep? He never does anything in the morning."
Aramis?
"Yes, but he's usually up so much earlier. I'm really concerned! What if he has a fever or somethi - Ah, you're up!"
At that moment, Raphael had opened his eyes with much reluctance.
Where was he?
He looked around. It was his shed, as always. For some reason he was on top of the crate. He couldn't remember climbing on top of it - Usually he slept inside the crate.
He frowned slightly, completely baffled. And then he attempted to stand up.
A hiss escaped him as he felt the soreness of yesterday. Yesterday?
What had he been doing yesterday? He sat down again, trying to remember.
"Raphael? Are you okay?"
Magiale's voice was filled with concern. Raphael looked at her guiltily. He hadn't wanted to worry her!
"I'm sorry..." He replied, blushing slightly. And then he added, in order to take that crease off Magiale's brow, "I'm fine."
And then he flew off.
Magiale watched him fly off, the concern still on her face. Where was he going? What if he got hurt?
But she walked back into the house anyway, despite her worries. It was too cold to go running after a fairy. He could take care of himself, right?

Hello, Diary! This is Magiale. 3nodding I haven't written in you in a long time now!
Anyway, Raphael is doing fine so far. He's settled in quite nicely in the shed outside. It's still snowing! The Weatherpeople say it's gonna continue snowing for a good while, now.
Aramis is keeping him company. Simara refused to stay with him. She and Yvis are currently living in the Guest bedroom. Even though Yvis is Raphael's pet, I think Simara has kind of adopted him. n.n
As for Raphael, he surprised us all by running away the other day. By the next morning, however, he was back and seemed alright, so it's all good. =)
We seem to have established, officially, that Raphael is a cold element. I've also heard something about spells, though so far it doesn't seem as if Raphael is interested.
Another thing I've noticed about Raphael: He's soo quiet. He seems like a nice enough Feien, and certainly has a good share of courtesy, but it always seems like he's HIDING something. He shifts around all the time, almost as if he did something wrong. What did he do wrong? I'm still trying to figure this out.
Also, he doesn't seem to understand -
Dinner, gotta run!

Raphael
I tried to read this book yesterday about dreams. I held a bit of snow in my arms and went into the house. Magiale had to open the door for me. I feel bad for troubling her, But there was something that I wanted to find out about. I went to the basement with Magiale and asked her if she had any book about dreams because for some reason the subject of dreams has been troubling me. I don't know why. She said she did have a book about dreams, somewhere, and that she'd been interested in dreams herself as a child. Then I think I asked about what it was like being a child...I can't really remember. I know that Magiale likes to talk a lot and doesn't like being silent like I do so I thought since I troubled her to help me find the book I'd do what she likes me to do and talk to her. I still feel really bad though. Especially since after that she gave me items that were recently delivered. Powder, a yellow gem, and a yellow stick like object...she called it something that started with an R, but I can't remember.
Anyway, after that she brought a few books up and placed them outside on the ground. She offered to open them for me and even to read them, but I 'politely declined' (What Aramis calls it. I don't quite understand what it means). I don't want to cause Magiale too much trouble.
So I tried to open them, but I couldn't. Magiale opened the covers and some of the pages for me, but I couldn't keep it open even when I stood on one of the covers! Eventually Magiale just put a rock on it and asked Aramis to help to make sure I didn't get hurt, though I'm not quite sure how I could get hurt with a book! But it really was nice of him to watch over me like that. The winter is going to end soon, so maybe I'll be going back in the basement soon and he won't have to trouble himself anymore.
I read parts of it, and it was interesting, but I can't really remember enough to write it down here. Most of my time was really spent trying not to fall over, because standing on a book is hard! The text was also hard to read, and after all this I felt embarassed because I pretty much asked Aramis and Magiale for help for pretty much nothing because I didn't learn anything. Oh well.
Dreams really are interesting.
But the yellow stick thing reminds me of something. I'm going to look at it more closely.

Raphael stared at the rapier he held.
In both hands, mind you. The rapier wasn't particularly heavy, but it was large, and a bit bulky, and was clearly of better use to a feien with larger hands than he.
It seemed familiar, somehow. Magiale had called it a type of sword, a 'weapon' that you could use to slice things. Like melons.
Raphael looked over the yellow plastic, his brow furrowed.
Did it really slice things? Hmm.
He knew that in order to test if something could do something or not, one had to attempt to do that something with that something.
The theory confused him horribly.
He shrugged, and shook his head slightly to get rid of the pain that was beginning to set in. With a swift stretch of his wings, Raphael dragged himself into the air (rapier and all) and lit outside of the shed (the door was open). He thought he understood part of that thing about testing something to prove that it could do something. So, basically, he had to cut something. But what?
He looked around. The snow, maybe? Yes, the snow. There was lots of it. It would be easy to test, right?
With a quick nod of determination, Raphael soared down to the ground, where plenty of patches of snow still smothered the grass.
He stopped with a swift, easy movement, and hovered just inches above a patch of the white stuff. What now?
Oh yeah. Cut it. With the rapier thing.
How do you cut things, anyway?
Raphael pondered this question for a few moments. How DID you cut things? He read in books these stories about knights who spun around with a big SWOOSH and chopped off the heads of evil things and stuff. But...Umm, okay.
With a mimicking SWOOSH, Raphael spun around, his arm extended all the way, with the sword blade (thankfully) pointing away from him. He spun, and he, umm, spun, and spun, and...uh, spun some more.
He resembled a top. Or maybe a carousel.
When he had finally stopped spinning (more from dizziness than anything else) he heard clapping coming from the porch. Eeh?
"Bravo!" exclaimed the overly delighted Magiale, who plucked the dazed, stupefied Raphael from where he was hovering dizzily in the air.
"Awesome trick, Raphy! I didn't know you could dance!"
The human giggled gleefully.
"Anyway, Raph, I have some food - eh, Raphy?"
At that point, the yellow fairie had fainted in Magiale's hands, one of his limp hands barely managing to hold on to the yellow toothpick.
"Hmm...I guess it's been a long day, eh, little guy?" She said softly, more to herself than to the unconcious feien.
"Very well. Off to bed with you!"
The setting sun glowed dimly in the west as Magiale carefully laid Raphael on the table cloth that was his bed. Then she placed the overturned crate back over him, so that he was surrounded in darkness. The rapier was placed neatly by the other items.
"Goodnight!"
Magiale took the plate of food from where she had left it on the porch, and went back into the house. He could eat tomorrow.
