Everyone in the forum here has made a very clear and valid point that kids don't re-enact violent actions that they've seen, heard or played out in games, movies and television, justt because they saw it and wanted to see what it was like in real life, it comes from year and year of emotional conditioning from the parents.
I'll give you a perfect example of this, I had a violent roommate once but it wasn't the video games he played or the movies he watched that made him that way, it was from all the years of neglect from his parents, the physical and emotional abuse he took as a child, now he's a violent individual who doesn't care about any one and will do what ever it takes to have his way including hurt some one any one it doesn't matter if that person is his girlfriend or not. but that's how he was raised, they never disciplined him they just yelled at and hit him.
I'm not trying to make excuses for him because now he's just a terrible human being who takes advantage of everyone around him and treats them like garbage, so I hate his guts, but honestly though where in that statement did video games and or movies and TV teach him to be the person he is?
Now of course a professional who may be reading this will come by and dismiss my babbling as a 1 in a million cases that's not true for every case but the sad part is, what I've said is true and you have all proven that fact a hundred times over.
aww well Nuckin' Fute its to them it's not like they'll listen to us anyways

Oh, they say it makes everyone more violent. Are we hanging people, burning people, torturing people, sticking people in Iron Maidens like people used to way back when? Nope, we're fine.
Violence is human nature. Video games gets it out of us so we can be normal and sane in day-to-day life. XD

HoujunRi The violence of a child does, in fact, depend on a lot of things. Sex, for one, can have something to do with it. A male's instincts are honed for fighting. It's just the way humans are. Women have that instinct too, of course, but ours is more a protective reaction.
However, when speaking of games... I wholly believe that they do not effect the violence in teenagers and mature adults. If you were to go back into the psychological and family histories of the two boys involved in the Columbine shooting, you would most likely discover that some violence occured during their childhoods. Possibly repeatedly.
Also, in the case of small children: THERE IS A RATING ON THE FREAKING BOX! If the parents are too stupid to realize that a M rated game is the same as an R rated movie, then that's their fault. If little Bobby runs up to his mommy with GTA and she buys it for him to shut him up without even looking at the rating, that's her fault. Don't blame it on the game. Sure, I hate the whole GTA franchise. Personally, it deserves it. But I WON'T blame the violence of small children on the games that they play, since they didn't buy them in the first place.
QED, every psychological or emotional sickness can be linked to the parents or a close family member.
It's up to us to teach our children what is right. It's not the games fault if we fail. *applad applad*

Miss Chocolate Kiss Someone on the news tried to blame Resident Evil 4 for a murder. confused AHAHAHAHAHA Omg. That is probably the best thing I've ever heard. Omg. If I get caught somewhere I'm not supposed to be, I'm going to blame it on Lara Croft and Tomb Raider.

_Kawaii_Demon_Mix_ Pirri There was an article recently in the British Daily Telegraph that pointed to movies as causing girls to be more violent. It's bullshit, to my mind -- girls have always had the potential to be violent, but socialized not to be. I'm expecting to hear about video games making girls more violent, anyday now. Movies causing girls to be more violent? Yeah right. I see violent movies and that doesn't make me want to be violent. Girls have always had the potential to be violent (like you said). If they say that about videogames then you know they're making something up. So true, if they say that girls are becoming more violant because of video games, they're just running out of things to blame us getting better at video games xd (just kidding) but what you said is so true ^^

People nowadays are always looking for excuses for such violent acts. "My daughter usually knows better than this. I blame it on all those violent movies and video games she's been watching and playing." Hello! No movies or video games make you do anything in real life! They may convince you of many things, but they never force you to do anything! What's worse is people (especially parents) are starting to believe it! People in our society are getting dumber by the minute, I swear! rolleyes

Parents seem to forget how they acted as kids. It's boggling.

Personally I think that is bull. Especialyl sicne they are saying nothing about guys. One video game taht might show that would be Grand Theft AUto...
but still. If taht is going to make your child violent it is because they are younger. Plus if a child cant handle it then it is the parents fault for not looking over teh child.
Still a video game does not have that much influence over someone. Plus people like to put the blame on something so that way they can exscuse the blame from themselves. It is still partly their problem. And if parents would think back to what they did instead of taking all of what they know now..*sigh* it is sad.

"Gun don't kill people, Kids who play video-games kill people." <3.
I guess video-games made me more violent, but at the same time, it's also the environment. I've got an older brother and I'm not too great at making my own friends so I hang out with his. I was bound to turn out violent-ish.
I blame parents for not watching over what their kids are playing. I mean dude, if your child is 10, and the rating on the video game is 18+, DON'T BUY IT.
