What do you think of vampires?
They exist, but all they do is drink blood
They exist, and have hooky powers to go with them
  They exist, but aren't supernatural
  They don't exist

Yes, probably anything.
But again, these are my friends so I'd prefer if you didn't try.

i dont think i would have the heart to kill one even if it was one of those evil ones from an old movie. i would be perfectly happy just talking to one and asking questions

They still exist, but they are are lot harder to identify because so many forms of them, no one really know what to look for anymore. I think, mostly for the fact that there are many different kinds of vampires... Different...breeds per se

Thats the beautiful thing about Vampires. They are to some people and fake to others. So they exsist from person to person and culter to culter

A corporeal creature cannot be subjectively real. neutral

i think she means that only some people believe in them, and if they do then they can believe in them in different ways. at least i think thats what she meant. correct me if im wrong though
What she meant, so far as I can tell, was that she's one of those nutty subjectivists who thinks that way about most of the world, if not specifically supernatural things.

Also - I've had encounters with some whose root chakra(s?) were too weak to support their physiological functions. I'd noted them seemingly subconsciously draining energy from whatever source was nearest when they fell into need of it. I do not envy these people, as they need the presence of other living things to survive; if confined solitarily, I'd guess that they'd waste away and die.
They're pretty nice people. Except every now and then someone around them gets a little tired. Sometimes even unnoticably.
And they don't wear sunglasses at night and can be killed without stakes or garlic (though I wouldn't like you to try).

garlic came from early midievil times from i think pagan superstition, wear a neklace of garlic to stay protected.
and with a stake through the heart killing one, i would assume that would work. im sure it would also work if you put anything through its heart

Staking vampires dates back to early Grecian, and most likely earlier, mythos. A common way to keep the undead from bothering you back in the day was to nail them to their funeral bed.

Vampirism is more then just hunting through dark allies looking for willing dumb blondes to suck their blood. Its also more then Hollywood. Bram Stoker (SP?) got some of his ideas from the famous Vlad Dracul of Hungary or was it Romania I can't remember. He also got the idea from people thinking they were being attacked by vampires. When the body of the accused would be dug up there was blood dripping down the mouth, the finger nails would be longer, and the body looking well fed. All of these signs are of natural decomposition.

As for the modern day vampire. Yes they are real. Though they had very little to do with Hollywood. They have their own sub-culture and their own set of rules. It can be medical or not. But vampires are real. They aren't immortal but they are real. That is all I am saying on that point

You keep bringing up Sanguinarians as though they're vampires. They're not. There are some specifics about vampires that these people do not meet. They're not immortal. They don't require blood to live. They never died. Again, it'd be like me saying "I'm a moose. Except I don't have antlers...and I walk on two legs... and I don't have fur. Other than that, though...I'm totally a moose." A vampire is, by definition, a preternatural being. If the person in question is completely mundane, they're not a vampire.

Vlad Dracul was NOT a vampire. Thank you for further proving my case that Post Victorian Vampire lore is a majority crap.

The Church of the Vampire is little more than a media inspired mystery cult that likes to pretend it has ancient roots in some kind of Vampiric coven lineage.

She is one of my favourites. Mainly because she the bestest know female killers of all time. It's also really interesting to read how her legend and the vampire myths have been mixed together.

Who decided on those specifics? lol...
If a bat can be named 'vampire' for drinking blood, why not a person?
Sanguinarians do become ill if they don't feed, they do have some specific psychic abilities, and most of them are light-sensitive. That's more points of similarity than the bats have.
In the HLV community, the essential definition of a vampire (most commonly accepted) is 'someone who must take blood and/or energy from others in order to maintain their health'.

The term sanguinarian was created to try to do away with the 'vampire' term, but the truth is that the term is very unlikely to replace 'vampire'. The term 'psychic vampire' wasn't adopted by the vamps themselves. It seems that feeding is the one thing that the public mind associates with vampirism across the board, regardless of other traits (hence the vampire bats).

In other words, they will continue to be called vampires whether you approve or not--and in fact sanguinarians will probably wind up being mentioned under the term in the dictionary some time down the road, if public knowledge of them continues to proliferate.

As for the topic, I don't think there are 'undead' vampires. There are human living vampires, and vampiric spirit entities, and many stranger things in the world than we probably want to imagine, but corpses crawling out of the ground? Probably not.

If anyone drastically changes their diet, they'll get sick. It has nothing to do with the content, but rather the body's chemical makeup. Let's not rule out the obvious possibility of psychosomatic illness. If you really expect to get sick, odds are you will. I'm light sensitive as well. Does that make me a supernatural entity?

It doesn't matter what is the 'accepted term'... 'Vampire' has a clear definition that dates back thousands of years. I really think it should take longer than 30 years and a handful of goth kids to change that, don't you?

Just because the public associates vampires with feeding only doesn't mean that it's right. That's the problem when you're in circles that study these things...people know better. What makes a vampire is not just the drinking of blood. If this were the case, mosquitoes and Ticks would be called 'vampire bugs.'
