Anyway, I think the face-paint was from Sasuke's Fire Jutsu, it scared his face..which is why it is falling off. XD

My little opinions of Orochimaru, and why he's cooler than Sasuke. wink

Perhaps I'm beginning to see why so many hate Orochimaru, but I greatly differ. They say he's disgusting, antagonistic, hideous, insane and deathly (many also believe he's a homosexual *****). There's probably many more traits on his part that easily shoot him off of the top ten list, a little sad to know, since he's always been the most fantastic villain, but hey. You're supposed to hate him. Right?

The first time I was introduced to Naruto I was not fond of Orochimaru in the slightest. I guess I looked at him like every other person did, ugly and evil as sin, although my thoughts soon changed after observations of my own tastes and my friend, Rebecca's views on him. She saw what I see in him now.

Why does he deserve an appreciation? I'll list.

Orochimaru is a man of intellect, who views this world in differing ways than most. He's observational, undeniably curious and baffles his underlings with his marvelous ways of thinking. One of his great features is his interest in pathology and bio science, which I am probing often myself. A trait that wholesomely shapes his demeanor, I believe. As a villain should be, Orochimaru has the intelligence and crafty air that immensely challenges that of the protagonists'. Being given the title "Legendary Sannin", it's only obvious he is a Shinobi statistical and spiritual mastermind.

I also enjoy his unfailing influence towards others. You meet him once and you'll never forget him. Also, once he's planted the seed, there's no escape. You can easily observe Sasuke, Kabuto, Kimimaro, virtually every Sound Shinobi on that matter, who has been ensnared by the snake's manipulation. It is improbable to be rescued from his hold, that is unless he tosses you out of the band by his own will, rendering you useless to his cause.

I will admit, he is cruel, but does that not make a great antagonist? If he sees promise, he will harness it, and when he is through with it, it is left in the dust. This is how he treats other people. It is very easy to perceive that he is only out for himself, which is indeed, very true. Unlikely will anyone see a glint of compassion in his eyes, or a shine of remorse for the horrible things he has done to them. No, another's life holds no meaning to him, unless it is being controlled for his purposes. Oh so demented, though I can almost see where he is coming from. The fact that he deeply cherishes his own life is only natural. Masashi has stretched that human aspect into a wonderful character design, don't you think?

He's stronger than you, and knows it. He slaughtered the Kazekage, eventually destroyed Sandaime and was able to compete against both other Sannin while he couldn't use neither of his arms. His presence is a great threat to anyone's health and lifespan and he has enough authority to not go unnoticed. If he's around, things will revolve around him, whether others like it or not. You have to be extremely careful about what you say to him; your life depends on it. He, on the other hand, sneers and delivers snide and sarcastic comments, taunting his prey. He's very calculating and seems to enjoy watching others' reactions as he slowly drives them into a corner. He'll play around with his opponents if he feels like it.

He can be rather spontaneous. If someone gets on his nerves, he'll kill them without a hint of regret or hesitation. He will follow his ambitions to all ends and won't care what others think of his ideals. He doesn't need their opinions, they can all just die and probably will die, too.

Many have a deep problem with his features, but I differ by a long shot. A deathly pale complexion is very--- attractive to me. His fondness with snakes is also very charming, as is his long, smooth mane of hair that drapes over his facade. I personally fancy the narrow, golden eyes and pronounced cheekbones. His tongue most of all, very uncanny, but I love it. I find assets in all of these things, and I am certain I'm not alone in this matter, but I can see the difference of my opinions with most others. Yet he's very imposing and elegant.

A homosexual? A *****? Please, those obtuse theories are worn out and have no proof to them. There is no evidence of any sort for Orochimaru being a ***** or homosexual. He is a manipulative, charismatic and seductive figure who does indeed influence younger folks to work under him... only so he can possibly gain their powers, not for sexual purposes. His formed attire is also not to be held into account, considering the culture Orochimaru dwells in. An oriental world whereas his type of apparel is completely normal.

So, why do I like him? Well, why should I not?

That's also why he's cooler than Sasuke. ;P Don't get me wrong. Sasuke is intriguing, but he can't beat Orochimaru's entity, hands down.

I whole heartedly agree Diniece. Orochimaru is so much better than Sasuke will ever be in a million years.

LoL, good job Dini. You've managed to do my work for me. Oddly enough though, I didn't think Orochima was evil when I first started reading the manga and when I first encountered him.

Like with most of the characters from the manga, I started studying them. Naturally I started with Iruka (xD) then Kakashi and once that was finished, I went on to Orochima because at that point, he popped up in the manga and he interested me greatly.

It didn't click in my mind that he was a bad guy. He really isn't, because like I know and believe and like many have told me before, what one person believes to be wrong -- doesn't necessarily mean the next person will think the same thing.

And... now I'm rambling. ^^;;
PostPosted: Mon May 29, 2006 2:19 pm

I like the guy but he's too static for me. He doesn't change at all. He's always himself and shows no growth. That's why he's one of the saddest characters.

Sasuke though, has some of the most growth. From him in the beginning to where he almost gives up the avenger pursuit to going to Orochimaru, but even then we see growth in choosing not to follow Itachi's path and letting Naruto live.

Lol. I'm not going to make a long list really, if people don't see his greatness then I feel bad for you all. ^^;;

All I'm saying is that Sasuke or Naruto will probably kill Orochimaru eventually. XD

Heh. I'll admit that I know almost nothing of the Naruto world. I've seen the anime a lttle, otherwise notning. I only know what characters you're talking about because I did background research on Naruto before I tried to join. So I'm wasting your time by writing this. Sorry.
