I didn't mean it never is the case, I know it is sometimes. I meant that the way you said that made it sound as if changing vocalists automatically created distinguishable eras.

....oh, ******** it. I was just being the devil's advocate and pointing out flaws within the way you stated your post, I know what you meant.

Sorry, but I have to do that...it's my job. xp

I don't mind them really...

If I'm interested in a band/singer I'll get the GH CD because usually it spans over the whole career. Yes it includes the more popular songs but if I like what I hear on that...maybe I'll like what I hear in the albums.

I became a huge Billy Joel fan many years ago and it all started with GH I and II. As I was listening to my uncle's CD, I juust kept hearing song after song that I already knew. I had no idea he sang so many songs that I liked to listen to on the radio. So I started purchasing his albums and yes I DID find quite a few songs that should have been on the GH list but were not. Miami 2017 (Seen The Lights Go Out On Broadway) for one. At least that was in the "Essential Billy Joel" compilation.

I'm starting to go through the same thing with Elton John...and a little with the Beatles too.

You don't need Greatest Hits with The Beatles because everyone knows which albums to buy. xp

Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Pepper's..., The White Album, Abbey Road.

Not a horrible idea, but I prefer the regular albums. The only one I have is Heart's.

Yeah, but you seemed to take my post a bit too seriously, so I thought I'd remind you of my job. >_>

I think it's only worth it if the CD comes with new or unreleased tracks, or maybe a bonus DVD.

I dont mind Greatest Hit albums since I have about 30 sweatdrop ... I really dont give a s**t though what album it is... Im a song collector, not an album collector. So I want to get the song "Dust in the Wind".... Whether its from their original album, greatest hits, downloaded, or stolen... I WANT THAT SONG (just an example)... so... I like Greatest Hit albums in the end, but only because I can have the best songs faster (and some of the deeper cuts too) and then download the rest... 3nodding ......

i cant download music so i love them...... plus if you are not a super fan of that band but like the cool songs you can get those

But, as we've explained already. Usually the cool songs = the ones that aren't super popular and on greatest hits albums.

Some of the greatest hits really suck and you can tell they didn't put a lot of work into them. Others however have multiple Cds and kick a** because they research the artists and have them in mind when they create them.

When I go to get a cd of a band I've never heard of before and don't kow if I'll like it, I get the greatest hits Cd because, if I don't like the songs on it, Chances are I'm not gonna like the ones on the other CDs and if I do like it, I'll get different CDs to hear more from the band. Greatest hits Cds are a great invention

I buy them, sometimes, but they leave out good songs that I like because they appeal to me. Songs on greatest hits CDs are songs that appeal to -everybody- the mass population.

Like on the Beatles One, it left out This Boy, I'll Get You, Strawberry Fields Forever, Thank You Girl, Michelle, In My Life, Northern Song--songs that I love. Apparently, the mass population didn't love them enough, and most people miss out on them.
