"Bl...bleeding?" her eyes fell to where her hands were. Sure enough, her nails had clenched deeper when those scruntinizing eyes had met hers.
"Oh..." her fingers slowly released their grip. Her mind was reeling so fast, that her own reactions were now slow. Too much...

"...We can't have THAT, now can we?" He was leering at her at this point - not out of any manner of lust, but...something...else.
"...May I ask you a question, then, Terra?"
He leaned on the scythe, the blade arcing over his head.

"I can't stop you..." she was both answering his question and making a most obvious statement on the entirety of the situation.

He chuckled.
"Right you are. I'm in control here." The stitched smile was awful.
"...Then, Terra...are you afraid?"

"What are you afraid...of?"
He reached out, wiping away the blood on her leg with his spidery fingers. He rolled the red substance between his fingertips as if feeling it out...testing it.
All the while staring.

Her gaze was hollow, and she wouldn't... no... couldn't... look him in the eyes. Her body did not move as he wiped away the blood.
"Too much..." she could give no one specific answer to such a question.

"Too much, too much...."
His voice broke into singsong again, and he reached forward, idly painting at her face with the blood. Under the eyes...along the cheeks.
"But isn't everyone? Deep down? Some just won't...show it...say it. Paranoia is a widespread disease, Terra.

Terra both winced and relaxed at the touch. If nothing else, at least she knew this was real. It was a start and perhaps the last strand of sanity she could currently grasp onto. Not that it was much to grasp.
"I... I don't know..." her voice hushed.

"You don't know...what? I was stating fact."
He collected some more blood, then brought it back to her face. He painted her lips with it now...eyelids lowered in thought.
"...Then again, no one knows. No one knows until they get that first taste of true panic...that first...thrill up their spine. They think the horror movie is great fun. But then they sleep with the light on...they check their closets and under their beds...they lock their doors with bolts and chains."

She didn't have an answer to the first part, she wasn't certain herself. The blood had begun to dry in some places, tightning her skin. It felt odd but it wasn't painful like wet leather sort of tightning as it dried.
It was simply something.
"I keep a chair under my doorhandle at night... I don't sleep."

"You acknowledge your paranoia. I like that."
His eyes opened fully again - wide, clear blue. He ran his hand down the side of her face. A mock caress.
"...But...why don't you sleep? Who is it that you fear will come into your room at night?" His voice was quiet - barely over a whisper. In the stillness...he was loud and clear.

"The other one..." her voice was barely a whisper, and her head fell to tuck into the nook between her neck and shoulder.

"Ah-ah...child...look at me...."
He gently took her chin in his hand, tilting her face towards him.
"...The other one? The other one...." He clicked his tongue a few times, his eyes darting around the room without moving his head.

She whimpered as her head was tilted back towards him, so broken and looking as though she could fall to pieces with even the slightest prodding.
"The other one..." she repeated slowly, "is not from here... but he lives in the home I have."
