Kupi-Chan Where I live, you can pierce a baby's ears at 3 months if they've had their DTP shots. Personally, coming from someone with piercings who enjoys piercings, I wouldn't pierce a child without their consent. "Oh, but it looks cute..." Whatever. It's not your body, you won't deal with the potential infection. If a baby gets an infection, the parent has to deal with it. They're the ones taking care of the baby.

The first time I had my ears pierced was when i was a month old.
Since then my ears have closed and been repierced 4 times.
And then I got them pierced a 5th time, but that was just to make a second hole.
Babies and young children don't know how to properly care for piercings (I sure as heck didn't)
so the piercings can get easily infected and close up.
If parents are willing to take the time to clean their kids' piercings each day with rubbing alcohol/earcare solution/whatever then I think it's completely fine,
but otherwise it's a waste of money.
Kids usually don't take very good care of those kinds of things.
As for the issue of "trauma" that some people were talking about,
ear piercings DO NOT hurt at all. It's like being pinched. It stings for a few seconds and then you don't feel anything.
The only time it really becomes a problem is when it isn't properly taken care of and infections occur.
If parents can make sure the pircing is cleaned each day, then I think it's fine.

I don't know who you're kiddin' about the ear piercings do not hurt at all. When I got my ear pierced it hurt like a *pardon my French* mother ********. I was crying within seconds and i continued to cry for hours. Well the things that didn't help though were 1. It got pierced on a downward angle (can you imagine trying to put an earing back in when you don't realize that. My ear was bleeding because of my moms failed attempt to put the earing back in, our neighbor had to put it back in for us but it even took her a while.) 2. The piercing gun got caught on the stud so the gun was dangling from my ear. I remember I was up until like midnight, which is really late for a 2nd grader, in pain. I remember my dad told me, "If you were older I would give you a beer."
