well if an animal feels they have a soul.whenever aa dog whimpers it means that they are sad and the only way that thy can be sad is if they have souls, most ppl just dont look at it that way.

Ailinea I came across a topic like this in ED earlier, so I thought I'd bring it up here. Do you think animals have souls? I do realize by this being an animal guild, most of you will probably agree with me that they do have souls, so to expand on this subject, why do you think other people don't believe so? Personally I think religion has a lot to do with it. Most Christians believe that animals do not have souls, I think because it is in the Bible that it is not so. I'm not exactly sure on that, but I've heard from another source. Well, since I don't believe in souls period, I don't give a damn what animals have unless tasty in which case, hand it the ******** over, furry boy, then get in my frying pan. Better question: Would eating animals mean you eat their souls? Because if it does, I really can't taste it at all.

I really wish you wouldn't make insulting posts like this. I found this mildly offensive. We, at this guild, LOVE animals.....not talking about butchering them and eating their souls... stare

nurikorox duhh..of course they have souls, they are just like us, i mean i hate it when people think just because they cant talk or they're not as smart as us that they are not like us and they dont have souls but if there was a person that couldn't talk(mute) or a person that wasn't as smart as us(Disorders and whatever)we wouldnt consider them souless. i agree completely! just because animals can't communicate to us in a way we can understand, it doesn't mean they have no souls. duh. i don't mean to offend anyone, but you'd have to be really stupid to think otherwise.

I believe the Christian concept of animals not having souls came from a passage in teh Bible where a man (I believe it's Paul...don't quote me on that) is told by God that it's okay to eat meat, as any creature created by God is not "tainted" or "dirty" as commonly thought in religions like Judaism (obviously, this is in the New Testament). Perhaps the issue of soul is taken from somewhere else. If anyone else has found it, please correct. me. ^-^ I am a Christian, but not an expert on the Bible. Anyway, I believe this section has been thought to mean that animals are okay to kill because they don't have souls. It's a long explaination into which I won't bother going here. In short, I do believe animals have souls. Just because we're allowed to eat them doesn't mean they're so inferior. They are God's creatures just like we are. Thay eat, sleep, breathe, and, most importantly, feel. There are two pods of orcas up by a certain part of Alaska: a permanent group that stays there year-round and a nomadic group that travels through the area every so often. Their sounds dialects are so different, just like our languages, that they would not be able to understand each other should they mingle together.
Also, it's been found that some chimpanzees taught sign language, when the keepers leave, sign to each other about the keepers, much the way we gossip.
These things hardly make them inferior. biggrin As you said, they are just like us.

animals have to have souls. all animals have souls they all have feeling they become sad and scard and thing like that. human is a tip of animal just like dogs and cats and birds. if they didn't have souls then they would be plants.

i'm christian and i believe that animals have souls! i mean i can almost always tell what my pets are feeling because i know them so well and from them i know they have souls!

InfinitysDaughter In my mind, everything has a soul. In my oppinion, hummans are lower then animals because we have evolved to be mean and cruel to one another for no reason and animals verry rarely turn on one another for no reason. If you say someone like a human who kills for money has a soul, then you have to say that a wolf who only kills to survive has a soul. To me, thats just common sence. But thats just my oppinion. u make a very good point
