Amaya looked at the hoof on her shoulder and then up at the woman's eyes behind her heavy brow. With a sigh her shoulders slumped. "Alright..." Slowly she sank down, sitting on the ground and hugged her legs to her chest. Her long tail curled around herself.

"I'm... not sure where to start..." There was a lot on her mind. She didn't think there had been one time while on the island where she poured out the thoughts she had in her mind to anyone.

Emerwyn sat down beside her, her long legs tucking in comfortably beneath her.

"Just close your eyes. Take your time."
Emerwyn was comfortable here. She was perfectly content to sit, and talk with a friend. It was a strange sort of lapse in time, talking to Amaya again. How had she gone so long without seeing the girl?

The lizard took a breath and did just that. Closing her eyes for a moment, she slowly reopened them. Here we go...

"I had nothing on the mainland. My family died when I was younger. I didn't have many close friends either. So I never thought, and still think, that I have no right to complain. Even the animal I was given isn't the... worst." It was bad, but wasn't as bad as a snake or a fish.

"And I found a family here. An odd one anyway. I see almost everyone on this island as part of a family. Ambrose and Chubbs are like big brother's. Greer is like my mother. Hargun is like my sister... But..." She paused.

The beginning. A fitting place to start, indeed.
She lost her family. Emerwyn couldn't imagine the pain of that, being an only child, and having parents who were as good as robots.

She held on interjecting just yet. There was no need.

But we're trapped on an island, being forced to undergo freakish torture, and being subjected to all sorts of mental torment.
But, Emerwyn did not fill in this blank for Amaya.
She only remained silent, and laid her hand on Amaya's. Her eyes told her it was alright. Anything she had to say, Emerwyn would listen.

Amaya looked down at the hand over her own. So different yet still so much smaller then her own. "But..."

Another pause, though shorter this time. "... I still feel like I'm alone. And I don't know why." She hugged herself tighter.

It was now time to speak. Emerwyn closed her own eyes, and breathed deep. She was not completely certain what she should say. This was not something she was good at. And anything she did say came out unclear and cryptic.

"Though we are all subject to this one evil, we are all affected differently," she began, slowly. "As sad as it may seem, we are indeed alone in our suffering.

But, that is only one perspective.
We don't have to be alone. Standing together with those whom we care about. You have friends here. They are with you.

I suppose, you just need to realize it for yourself."

"But I do, really." The iguana looked back over at Emer, her expression still sad. "I know were all together. I think that's the only thing that keeps me from going insane... and when I'm with my friends I feel safe and protected. Like things are normal. But... I..."

She stopped herself, not wanting to say it.

Emerwyn felt bad for putting Amaya on the spot like this.
"You don't have to, if you don't want to.

However, consider that you may feel better, talking about it."
The tree was whispering too much.

Amaya rubbed the back of her neck subconciously. "I..."

Closing her eyes, she burried her head into her knees and spoke from them. Even when her voice was muffled, Emerwyn would probably make out what she said with ears like hers.

"I've never had a boyfriend. Or anything. And now I never will..."

God. What a stupid reason for being depressed.

Emerwyn's heart very nearly broke.
She was so young. So young.
The precious rare anger that was ever awoken in Emerwyn rekindled itself, looking at Amaya's poor form.
Here she was, not yet twenty years old, confined to a life imprisonment she did not deserve. Doomed to never know love.
They would not all be as 'lucky' as Emerwyn had been.

She crawled closer to her, and put her arms over her, holding her close.
"I will not pretend to understand what you are going through. And I will not feed you lies that it is fair, or that it will all be okay."
It seemed rather lame, but what could she say?
"Just know that it is not something to be ashamed of, what you are feeling. You have every right to feel sad. Love is something no one should have to miss."

Only a few seconds after Enerwyn embraced her, the paper thin will she had snapped once more. The girl seemed to cry more on this hellhole then she ever had. Save for when her family members had passed on and left her alone.

Small sobs escaped her hidden face, her shoulders shaking and her tail curling around her as best it could tightly to form a scaley ball. Though she still managed to continue through her sobs.

"All I wanted... was to get out of school. Get a job. Get married. Have kids and die an old woman... Nothing else. Nothing more." Her voice squeaked as she sobbed again.

"Now look... at me..." Amaya sobbed. "I don't even look like a girl anymore and it's... only going to get worse. I don't even have hair."

Emerwyn just held her, and instinctively rocked her back and forth, like and infant.

There was no response for Amaya. She did not need one. Emerwyn just closed her eyes, and listened. And she hummed. Hummed softly, a soothing melody beneath the sobs.

The lizard sobbed for what seemed like a long time, though to her time may have crawled on or slowed down... she didn't know. But the pang in her stomach only grew as she remembered she was on her way to get food when all this started. So much for asking questions, eh?

Though eventually she calmed down and stopped sobbing. Amaya's head rose and her chin rested on her knees to stare ahead. Her face was sticky with tears and her eyes would have been bloodshot if the whites could be seen passed the green.

"Sorry... I cry too much."

It seemed a while to Emerwyn as well; it was almost blissful, sitting there with her. It felt like having a family.

"No, not at all. It is a cleansing process. The trouble with people is that they do no practice it nearly enough."
She smiled encouragingly at the lizard-girl.
"Now, we must get up and stretch our legs. Tears are a call for a fresh start. You must be hungry."
She stood slowly, then leaned down to offer Amaya her hand.

The teen managed a smile and looked up at her as she stood, taking her hand, or hoove, after a moment and pulling herself to her feet.

"Yeah..." Another final sniff. "S'what I set out to do in the first place."
